Nooo don't do a white wall! Thats the same contrast as a white ceiling noooo Kelsey!! just halfway through the video. The green looks great! Even with the brownish/green curtain, it'll go nicely with the brown rug and copper light fixture, I'm gonna cry if you do a white wall 😭
This!! You'll also see the white wall in the reflection of the tv screen. I'd either get darker green curtains, or brown curtains to match the copper. You can probably dye the green curtains you already have.
Yeah I wanted to tell her just let it cook! I also have these feelings after decorating, like does it look bad?? and wanna redo it. I think the whole thing will come together at the end
I painted my living room a very similar green. Painted one wall white. It did nothing. Spent four months wishing I didn’t have to go back and paint it green before I finally did!
I'm with Elliot. The color is perfect and moody and cozy all around is the vibe for a media room. I would go all in just like you planned and not go with a white wall.
imagine if you got a ceiling rosette/medallion that also was spray painted in the bronze color 😍 It would balance out the size of the bowl so well. That room is gonna have old Art Deco movie theatre vibes
How about vinyl, like wrapping just the face and switch. To avoid the original white switch from peaking under switch to the the black plastic to better match.
Hi! @thesorrygirls Loved this video. Please add official closed captioning rather than the auto-generated. Makes a heck of a difference and makes your channel so much more accessible! Thank you!
I loved the dark moody green all over tho, the green curtains are just meh, they look too browny. Even the all green room would look fine with different colored curtains, maybe some white flowy ones. I think that if you paint the wall white it will just happen the same like you were saying with the ceiling, it will just be the focus point of the room
Brass plates, black switches for the light switches. More elevated but still affordable. And you can slowly over time change them throughout your house
I have never seen Kelsey paint something and be happy with it. So funny to watch her stress for no reason. I love the green color of this room. Poor Kelsey. You’re a great designer.
I know this is about your room, but I want to give a HUGE shoutout for the sweatshirt you have on! Too many people are not familiar with Cystic Fibrosis. It is a disease that needs more attention. As a family that has CF it brought me tears of joy to see your sweatshirt. I hope others viewing the video notice it, learn more about it, and start to advocate for funding (there is no government funding in the US) and a cure. Thank you for another wonderful design Kelsey. Always love watching your making home vids, and it is so fun to see Elliott in them.
The green colour drench look awesome 👏🏻. Hoping you’ve chosen a different curtain instead of painting the window wall. Maybe a green and bone white pinstripe or crosshatch pattern. Or bone white with black
Something that seems to help is if you paint the ceiling one or two shades lighter than the walls. For instance, I did Valspar Blackened Pine 5003-2C on my walls and one shade lighter, Lush Sage 5003-2B on the ceiling. Made it cohesive, moody, but not cavernous.
I also love the green walls!! what if you do a slightly darker shade of green for the curtains? or even another jewel tone like amber, a rusty orange or dark purple? that would also work with the mid century vibe
I also don’t like the white tile I would have kept the wood just stained a little bit darker colour or use black tiles to carry through the moody theme.
The green paint turned it into a great moody/cozy media room but the white wall and drapes will draw the eyes. I agree with others who suggested dyeing the curtains to go with the rug and light. Also, you could paint the support beams under your shelf the to match the walls. They'd disappear and make the tiled shelf look like it's floating.
I’d change the colour of the outlet covers on the dark walls so they blend in more but keep the shape and style the same so they are cohesive will the rest of the house.
haven't made it all the way through yet, but I love the paint color. I'd buy matching fabric to make custom curtains to match. Or dye custom curtains to match!
Elliot got me thinking of my husband in a couple weeks when we start hanging shelves here in our first apartment together. He has yet to witness the full spiral in person 😂. Just the hug is all we DIY babes need.
The green looks great for a cozy game , movie room. It's giving the vibe of going to watch a movie in a threater. And the wall color matches the sofa color so well.
You could add some small holes around the top-ish of the bowl light so it would shine some little lights around the sides for more style / personality in the light fixture
I love the dark green vibes in the room, I'm sure it'll look super cozy when you add more little lights! I wouldn't paint that one wall white tho (even a warmer white) bc I feel like it'll contrast too starkly! excited to see how this room ends up tho
When I think of safe colours I think of green because if you look outside at the millions of green colours from the grass to the hedges to the trees, it still looks good so you can’t go wrong 😅
YES! Paint your moody ceiling! 👏🏼 I have a moody powder room that I painted a very deep, dark purple. Left the ceiling white for about a year and a half. The room made me SO SAD because it wasn’t the mood/vibe I had wanted, and it had been a vision I had even before I moved in. Plus I was regretting the color choice. Finally painted the ceiling the same color a few months ago, and it completely turned the room around. I got that moodiness I had wanted. And after painting, it was clear how broken up the room looked with the white ceiling and how much it altered the shade of the purple color.
I love the moody green all over, and big&small lights and finishing touches will make it come together. Trust your design! ❤ I agree with others, please don't paint one wall back to white. The curtains are not the best, and I think switching them would be better than re-painting anything. I'd maybe go with dark warm brown, tying in with the cognac couch, etc. Or possibly a dark beige like in the rug. But I needed this video because I'm thinking about renovating a dark green living room. This helped me see how it will change the mood! I still like it, but will consider the shade carefully.
My dad did oil rubbed bronze switch plates with dark brown plastics switches and plugs throughout all the shared spaces in the house and they honestly look great 👍🏼
It took me a couple of rooms in my first house to learn to always pick my fabrics first. You can take your drapes or bedding to the paint store and get a perfect match, but sometimes it's impossible to find fabric to go with the paint. I think it's also easier to coordinate if the fabric is a print. It doesn't matter as much if the colors are a bit different.
I painted a single wall a deep charcoal gray. It's a great vibe with the TV on it...kinda like a movie theater. Our living room is fairly dark in general, so I kept it to a minimum.
I love your TH-cam videos so much. If you ever do another wedding video with a vintage-esque, eclectic, thrifted wedding style, I would be such a happy camper
Fantastic job on that light fixture ❤❤❤ I’m doing my den a dark green so thank you for concreting the idea that I must paint the ceiling. I’d get different drapes. Painting the window wall will spoil the whole moody feel 😢
An idea for the light socket debacle: I don’t know if it’s possible but maybe 3d print light sockets in the color you want with custom filament? Love you Kelsey and Elliot you guys are so wholesome ❤
About the light switch... I painted it with regular wall paint and sealed it with a matte clear gel nail polish and dried it under my uv lamp.. so far no problems after 3 years haha. Maybe you can find someone with gel polish and a lamp!
14:21 Kelsey, if you want to hide the switch so it’s less stark, you could make a tiny door to cover it! They’re really cute and it would tie in the tiny fairy house you did by your stairs!
I just did this in my new craft room (can I just say I love it so much, I have wanted a craft/wrapping room forever) with a dark dark teal, I was so nervous to paint the trim in the same color because that just is odd to me but it worked out beautifully, I loved it so much. I did put one wall of wallpaper but it was also dark but still seemed to break up the room some as if I put a big painting on the wall.
Loved the green paint colour. Honestly I feel the green curtains might just work though it is a different tone. Can't wait to see the completely done room.
Either paint the lightswitch in the same color as the wall, or do something fun with it! Like a cool pattern or a fun diy that makes the switch an artpiece by itself! :)
you can paint the outlet covers or use peel and stick wallpaper/contact paper! also i love the green of the room! once you have all the furniture in, the paint color will look less intense
Love the room and the color! And the light fixture is definitely art! This may sound weird, but I would recommend that you check that base of the light fixture and the ceiling around it after that light has been on for a few hours, just to make sure the bowl shape isn't directing too much light/heat in one small area. I hope it's not and I'm just over thinking it, but maybe check, just to be safe. 😉
Love the moody green!! How about brown curtains that match the couch colour, instead of white? ☺️ Of course do whatever your heart tells you too, I'm sure the end result will be stunning as usual 🫶🏻
The deliberation and deep breathes is so real. I felt this 😅 been there too - especially when my bf convinced me to paint his office black, including the ceiling!
You get the wood switch covers and paint it the colour of your wall 🤗 I imagine someone may have mentioned this already but if not , it’s such a great hack 😎😏
My son's room is super close to that color! We got As Is paint at the city recycling center, filtered & mixed up various colors, added some leftover white and it looks fabulous! Cost about $10 for almost 5 gallons!
Hey Kelsey, I experienced the exact same thing. I painted our small bathroom all over a forest green. And also the wall with the Window looked to dark comparing to the light from outside. So i painted it white.😂 I like it this way. ❤
I actually love the dark moody green colour, no regrets there. The light fixture is a head-scratcher for me... Usually you want some light to be distributed through the room right? Especially in darker seasons, I could imagine this bowl lamp to be an issue... but I mean as long as you're happy...
For your coloured switches/outlets look at the Leviton RENU line. Most of them are lighter colours but they do have some dark options like Navy and Black Walnut.
Love how quickly you paint, my painter was drunk and took so many breaks, also I was the painter. 😂
🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
This is hilarious
Hahaha
I'm with Elliot. Easier to change the curtains. Not a fan of the color of the curtains anyway.
Saaaame, especially because of that the room is, having that white on your peripheral vision during a movie is going to be so hard on their eyes
Agree. My goodness, just live with it for a bit.
This!!
You'll also see the white wall in the reflection of the tv screen.
I'd either get darker green curtains, or brown curtains to match the copper.
You can probably dye the green curtains you already have.

omg that would be so gorg!!
what about bronze wainscot to match the medallion?
@@TheSorryGirlsI think a dark green velveteen curtains would also set the Art Deco/cinema vibe!!! No white!! please!!
@@TheSorryGirlsand you can get them cheap now because you can get plastic and foam ones. So once painted you can't tell it's not wood.
Peel and stick wallpaper on the switch would look nice! Maybe in a moody floral.
great idea! many fancy cinemas have this! also spray painting it to match the light
How about vinyl, like wrapping just the face and switch. To avoid the original white switch from peaking under switch to the the black plastic to better match.
Love this idea!
Hi! @thesorrygirls Loved this video. Please add official closed captioning rather than the auto-generated. Makes a heck of a difference and makes your channel so much more accessible! Thank you!
Ooo, yes please!
I've asked this before and nothing 🥲

Elliot is such a real one for supporting you through your spiral 🌀
I know! Every diy girlies dream partner
Brass plates, black switches for the light switches. More elevated but still affordable. And you can slowly over time change them throughout your house
I am a tech. That dual screen had my jaw on the floor. I love that green.
💚
Saaame. And same ✅

Elliott* is her man, Austin is Becky's. 😘 But heck yeah CF awareness!
@@UntetheredBanshee I knew that in my brain but my fingers obviously wanted Austin to get some love too! LOL!!

which one?
The way I screamed at you through my phone to wait for the curtains!
I can relate with Kelsey spiraling down because of the wall and curtain color. I feel you, girl. ❤️
the spiral was a necessary part of the process 😵💫💘
Totallllyyyy!!! ❤️❤️
We’ve all beeen there with a DIY
The green colour drench look awesome 👏🏻. Hoping you’ve chosen a different curtain instead of painting the window wall. Maybe a green and bone white pinstripe or crosshatch pattern. Or bone white with black

I don’t understand the choice for a shelf in a living room bade of tiles… just wood would have been perfect.
I absolutely agree! White tile just doesn’t vibe with the room. A warm wood shelf would be so much better. I’m kinda surprised at her choice.
Agreed. The white tile is completely wrong for the rest of the style of the room. It’s like a 70s kitchen competing with 2020s moody organic
The green turned out looking so good with the couch color and the bronze light! Your brain is a beautiful place!
Peel and stick wallpaper for your outlet plates?!
Also, I love how supportive Elliot (Elliott?) is in this. What a gem!
I’d change the colour of the outlet covers on the dark walls so they blend in more but keep the shape and style the same so they are cohesive will the rest of the house.
thats a good suggestion! thanks for watching :)
He’s so supportive! What a cutie!
we 💖 our sorry boys
haven't made it all the way through yet, but I love the paint color. I'd buy matching fabric to make custom curtains to match. Or dye custom curtains to match!
Kelsey's constant indecisiveness, she's just like me fr
hehe 🤪
a floor lamp would be so vibey in this room
Elliot got me thinking of my husband in a couple weeks when we start hanging shelves here in our first apartment together. He has yet to witness the full spiral in person 😂. Just the hug is all we DIY babes need.
Just so you know: I sing the breaker song every time I do anything electric! THANKS KELSEY!!!!
A metallic bronze/dark copper ceiling would also be amazing!
The green looks great for a cozy game , movie room. It's giving the vibe of going to watch a movie in a threater. And the wall color matches the sofa color so well.
Watching you tile that shelf and thinking to myself "didn't she say she was gonna put outlet in there, where's the hole?" 😅
Spray paint that switch and plate a gorgeous brass toned color! 😍
Great idea!!
You could add some small holes around the top-ish of the bowl light so it would shine some little lights around the sides for more style / personality in the light fixture
Great idea. I also recommend painting the inside of the bowl white or shiny metal finish to reflect more light.
The montage of the two of you discussing the paint color was so relatable. I love it.
I love the dark green vibes in the room, I'm sure it'll look super cozy when you add more little lights! I wouldn't paint that one wall white tho (even a warmer white) bc I feel like it'll contrast too starkly! excited to see how this room ends up tho

I dig this logic
I love the green walls!! have no fear Kelsey you have chosen wisely yet again
Ok, why aren't we talking about the TALKING CLAMP? Or Elliot's floating head? TSG editors are going ham, and I love it.
Elliot is so sweet and supportive. They are a great couple. Love the room so far BTW!
I think Ikea has curtains the same color of your walls. Cannot tell for sure, bit I have them in my room and I like them.
YES! Paint your moody ceiling! 👏🏼

we all need an Elliott in our lives, YAY! And his support is just next level.
In ye olden days, my mom & grandma put matching/coordinating wallpaper on the light switch & outlet covers (to match the walls).
I always appreciate seeing the questioning and re-planning and problem solving. It’s very relatable.
I love your TH-cam videos so much. If you ever do another wedding video with a vintage-esque, eclectic, thrifted wedding style, I would be such a happy camper

Dark colors are such a vibe for a media room, it really gives it a theater vibe for movies!

You should put more tile shelves around the couch to really make it feel built in! Like on the sides for drinks and things
I LOVE color drenching. Such a mood.
Yes, let's find an affordable solution to those outlet covers!
I painted my living room that color... no regrets. So gorgeous!

Color drenched my whole living room in Urbane Bronze so I ADORE this!

You should drill a few holes in the bowl, around it, so a little light could get through to the room. Just a thought
For the switches, we put fun little doors over them. Some find it inconvenient we find it to be unique! Think brass, fairy, eclectic 😁

Amazon has the light switch and outlet in gold. They also have the switch plate and outlet cover in matching gold for affordable prices.
I never would have guessed this would look so good. I’m loving this vibe .
Hey Kelsey,
I experienced the exact same thing.
You can paint your outlets, simple and beautiful
I absolutely love with all my heart that colour on the walls...
