I really think a walnut table top is what this space needs, it would add a bit of warmth and you could cut it slightly longer to fit the new bench better
Yes, then it would make the wooden chairs & the wooden handles & knobs make sense. The chairs need a refresh bad. It would make sense to make the floating shelves wooden to. And finish them with a protective sealer of course! Great idea on the table. Who has a stone table anyways. Never seen one in a home & 1000 to 900 forget about it. Not worth it & to much stone anyways.
Beautiful!! I I can’t help but feel like those floating shelves above the sink should be a nice warm wood and that the wall space in the nook is screaming for a bigger painting with muted colours
I was thinking the same about the tiny painting over the nook, seems so random and not intentional. Maybe adding a a few more small art pieces or one large piece I think it would make it look a lot more proportional.
Honestly, same here. I can't remember where the big piece of art, that was above the nook, came from but believe it was something sentimental? I thought it still would've looked beautiful in the new kitchen, and the size is so much more appropriate.
I would strongly recommend putting your heavy liquor bottles on the bottom of the cabinet as glass shelves will have a weight limit and may crash down is too much weight is added to the shelves. Over all kitchen is looking really good. Colour choices and finishes compliment each other really well
@TheSorryGirls I applaud you guys for not hiding things that went wrong. Nowadays people tend to produce picture perfect videos with no mishaps. You inspired me and hopefully others with that tiled shelf but ALSO what not do to with it if we attempt it. Such unique projects should be shown in it's entirety. You made me love the shelves. Or should I say: crack the shelves? Mucho love.
Beautiful kitchen remodel. I personally liked the previous chairs better (if stained walnut), the new ones just remind me of typical restaurant chairs from the 80's. The arm rests dont work with the table and seem to make the chairs out of proportion to the table or the table needs to be slightly bigger. But hey, who am I, my opinion means nothing at the end of the day, just sharing my thoughts. Overall you did a beautiful job and should be proud of yourself! Love the blue cupboards btw.
I love the second hand chairs, they have so much more personality which is what the space needs most in my opinion since it hasn't yet got the lived-in feel. And furniture with a history and story is always more special.
@@TheSorryGirls Oh I completely disagree. I actually LOVE the new chairs so much more. It's the old ones that looked like very typical chairs you could find at any furniture shop now. But the new vintage chairs look special and have personality.
I don't think the old or the new chairs work well with the space. I think finding something a little sleeker like the first chairs but maybe something with that funky feel and in the green that she has going on could be nice. But I'm more into the Becky-esque maximalist/retro style, so I may not have the best opinions for this space.
It looks amazing! A couple of ideas for the nook: as others have also suggested, a walnut table top could be the perfect solution! Would match the hardware beautifully. Also, have you considered a roman shade for the window? It might be more functional (don't have to worry about sitting/pulling on the curtains) and look a little cleaner
Love everything about this makeover ... color scheme, sink, lighting, floating shelves, appliance garage, the island, those wooden knobs! It's just those clunky captains' chairs that throw off the whole vibe for me. The original seating was so much more in keeping with table, and light atmosphere. They showed off the table's unique pedestal. Could they be stained darker to match your vision?? All in all, a beautiful space with so much usable storage and counter space.
this makeover made the space look 3 times bigger. Really appreciate showing the timelines of the reno and all the detours along the way. love the space and hope you love using it!!
KELSSSSS, I just sat down to start work. (I own an Etsy shop.) THIS is what I needed to start off my work day. Perfect artistic inspiration for while I work. Thank you! Can’t wait to see it!
@@TheSorryGirls Okay, just finished the video. Love the way it turned out! I always admire your soft spot for all things green. The pothos on the glassware shelf is chef’s kiss. How are you enjoying the new space so far?!
Just casually chopped off a ton of hair in the middle of the video. LOVE the haircut and I've been so obsessed with this series for so long. I love your style and everything you've done with your home.
I love it but it feels a little sterile with all black and white. Not necessarily a bad thing as kitchens look cleaner this way, but not what I expected! The light was an amazing choice and helped to warm up the space. Hopefully you can bring in some more over time to help warm the space up even more
I deffs feel this! honestly didn't want to commit to a colour for the backsplash but a new thrifted kettle && wherever else I can bring in some colour I'm here for!
This is stunning! I would change the floating shelves to walnut shelves to tie in with the wood elements you already have, it would add some warmth and would be less work to build. ;)
good job, in general, I like the result. I'm an architect with many years hands on experience, there are somethings that appear to me maybe helpful for you in your future renovation. first is about scaling, the big compartment with glass door made your space heavier than it should be and its scale is not very matched specially with the built-in seating space and long empty wall that exist beside. the floating shelves also were much better if came with another material, different than the wall tiles to creat an accent. good luck
Kelsie I absolutely love what you did with what you have. Especially the pantry part. You’ve inspired me for my kitchen that is missing a pantry. I do have a suggestion, that the shelves over the sink area should be wood to match the accent of wood knobs in your kitchen. It would really pop!
congrats on your new kitchen! it came together really nicely and must be rewarding to see your vision finally come to fruition given all the time you have spent and decisions you had to do. If you're still looking for a table option - why not do a walnut wood? it would tie in nicely with your handles. or a black stone fb market place find maybe :)
You made such GREAT choices in this space!!! I love those wood knobs and pulls and the countertops are just perfection😍 Way to go - YOU DID ITTT!! Now go eat some hummus in there or something lol.
Love the final look! So sad to see the hutch go, but the new appliance garage does wonders for storage & aesthetic. Love the green touches! Yes please, let’s organize!
I think those curtains pooling on the bench will eventually drive you nuts. Some planters hanging from the curtain rod with dangling vines would be really cool in their place.
Love the fluted glass moment! What if you kept your old chairs? Refinished them and made a matching walnut table top to go with? Also. I think I heard those lampshades were fabric for your new overhead light? Maybe think about a good coat of scotch gard so they don't get crusty from the cooking air... 🤔
Okay, I haven't finished yet so I'm not sure what you decided, but they table is perfect... Just add a fun runner to break up they white!!! Then you can change it whenever you like❤
I know it was stressful and you had a few bumps along the way, but it’s so reassuring to see you run into issues and how to problem solve solutions along the way!
Holy moly, the sink is even more perfect than I thought at the beginning. I love that it’s black that matte black sink and the fancy Faucet. Now in all honesty, I thought that much black in the kitchen and little dining area was going to make it too dark. But I kept it to myself because I have learned to trust your process and you know what you’re doing. you figure it all out and in the end it’s perfect. But in the beginning I was like really all that black Humm… and then I started watching put it together. I’m like well that room does get endless gorgeous light and it can pull off that much dark in that size space. But now that you’re winding things up, oh girl, it’s incredible. How could’ve ever been anything but black and every other aspect that you chose for this room. And I still love love love the sink🤸🏽♀️🤸🏽♀️🤸🏽♀️
A larger walnut table top , walnut floating shelves and, im sorry, i hate the chairs. And then something large and colorful above the bench. Great job! Enjoy! ❤
i love watching kelsey’s videos as a fellow virgo. i live vicariously through her until i have my own home!! 😂 congratulations kelsey (and elliot) on this lovely new space. on to the next room!!!
I love this space, perfect for cooking hosting and eating. I can see so many new recipes being tried and fun memories made here. Also, matches my Pinterest board really well, I’ve been living for those ceiling cabinets with shaker style doors and an oval or rounded bottom cabinet or island. The space looks so much bigger now and has so much more storage. Those wooden handles and knobs are a dream.
Do the fabric in the nook in a green pattern that you like, including the old chair cushions. Then stain or paint the old chairs. The new/old Facebook chairs are so awful. They clash with your modern sleek kitchen.
When I had our cabinets refinished 2 years ago and did black bases and white uppers everyone thought I was nuts, including the cabinet guys... until it was finished, then everyone loved it lol. The white uppers make the space so much lighter and brighter, especially in mt kitchen where we have three walls of uppers. Looks great in here Kelsey!! 👏
I also had a small-ish kitchen, and mine had soffits above the cabinets. We gutted the room, and made cabinets to the ceiling - so much more space! We also had a peninsula with upper cabinets…and a soffit. Because the peninsula did not go back in, we had to redo our ceiling, too. The kitchen, living room, and hallway were all connected, so they were all scraped and a new light texture put on. I didn’t realize how yellowed the ceilings were until we replaced them. Love how you got so much storage in such a small space. (And I like the table, as is.)
VIDEO IDEA: I've read a lot of comments about bringing in more color/warming up the kitchen. What if you do a video where Becky, Rachel, or whoever have to find/make an item for the kitchen and whichever one you like the best, gets used.
This is an amazing journey of transformation, progress in ideation, and functional design that fits personally. Concessions, lows and highs, and everything in between. Congrats!
Congratulations, Kelsey!!! What a wonderful upgrade for your home and an amazing asset for resale. Love that you brought in walnut and green finishes. Glad you stayed with the stone for your table...thought it was something that would be covered with wooden bowls or baskets, placemats and napkins...just not a huge problem. Glad you came to the same idea!!! Beautiful job, Kelsey...hope you are thrilled!!!
It looks so great! Must feel so good to have your kitchen again. We bought a cabinet hardware jig from Amazon which was much more affordable for anyone interested in the tool.
I think it would be cool if u had bigger pieces of art above the breakfast nook and u placed them close together. And yeah a walnut table top. Love the kitchen! Looks so sick
Kelsey, the blog post with additional kitchen details was a great read! Id forgotten how hard they went with that old green everywhere. 🙂 I appreciated your timeline details and tips. I love the new space! Per your mention, I’d love to hear your kitchen regrets.
The kitchen is beautiful! I think all your choices work so well together. I like the white table top, was wondering why you were considering going darker. I never would have thought about wood handles, very pretty. I love the appliance garage and the glass doors above. I am interested in seeing a video of it being stocked and organized and how it's working after being able to use it. Nicely done!
Hi Kelsey, did you seal the mdf with zinsser BIN shellac based primer before installing it? That stops it from swelling once any paint or grout is applied.
I will be waiting to hear how you like the black granite sink. I could not get rid of mine soon enough. Water spots were so difficult to get rid of. Your counters are beautiful and the quartzite is a much better choice than the maybe (from a easier to care for pov).
Man I feel you. Just had a major kitchen Reno. And as exciting as the process is….the mess, the dust! the reverse engineering all your stuff into a new space! It’s definitely a moment😊
We have this sink, and we love it. It is big, but it's so functional, and I can even water all the small plants and drain them and put them back in one go. We had the glass cleaner attachment as well. and it's a game-changer.
LOVE IT! so sleek, beautiful, and timeless!!! like everyone else has been suggesting, I think walnut floating shelves and a walnut tabletop in the nook would really warm up the space! if the kitchen chairs could be more sleek/thin, they could tuck under the table and make the space feel bigger. plus a larger painting (maybe with some green?) in the dining nook would also look great!
Love it! ❤ and just a tip: black hardware will get limescale stains very quickly. I would recommend a water softener system if you can. Or clean daily with vinegar. The round countertop is stunning!
It could be cute to add walnut trim to your tile to cover the grout! Agree with other comments about a biggsr walnut table top. Love your kitchen. It's absolutely gorgeous! Your pantry is a show stopper!
Kelsey, I have had so much fun watching you and your videos! I would just like to suggest that you store your oils away from any major heat source. They will break down and go rancid way slower if they are stored in a cool, dry space. Canola oil, which is basically motor oil that has been modified for human consumption, should go in the fridge (or, even better, the trash).
Really wonderful! It must be so rewarding to have accomplished so much! And it is so beautiful! ❤❤❤ I think my favorite is the sink with accessories! What a great idea!
GORGEOUS! 2 small tips for those floating shelf. you could try to color match silicone to the edges/ seams first, if that doesn't work, get a few lengths of schluter trim and do the edges in that. came out awesome, great job!
Nifty! I'm not a fan of stone countertops at all, but really like the table. Hope the tile shelves were finally remedied. I also appreciate the cupboard next to the nook. I'll be doing a kitchen remodel in about a year, and watching you and others tackle your spaces helps me prepare a bit. Thank you.
Woo hoo! Just started, but wanted to comment how much I enjoy longer videos! Almost, 30 minutes.... Yes, please! 🤩 Definitely want stocking/organization video! Also, spill ALL the regret tea! 😂
It turned out so beautifully!! My walls are painted White Dove and I’ve been thinking of doing a dark-on-bottom, light-on-top kitchen cabinet paint project very similar to this…super cool seeing someone use white dove on cabinets WITH dark lowers! I also love that the final look still incorporates green through all the plants and the recovered bench cushions. It’s like the room did an inversion and came out all sparkly new and wonderful, yet familiar 🥲 Bravo!!!
I love the sink I would totally choose the same sink if I was in your situation where I could choose lol. I hate small sinks. I prefer one great big one and I love that you have it under the window. I’m one of those people that I definitely want a window over my sink. I prefer it when the window looks over into the backyard so you can watch the kids play and so on but the house I have now it is under a window but it looks out to the fence. It’s the side of the house lol. I know it’s a tight fit with that sink and I haven’t finished the video yet. By the way, I just couldn’t wait to let you know that I’m so glad you stick to your guns and kept the big sink and kept the location. Because I love love love your big sink.
I really think a walnut table top is what this space needs, it would add a bit of warmth and you could cut it slightly longer to fit the new bench better

Yes! The table top definitely needs to be a little bit longer

Walnut floating shelves would be perfect
Walnut shelves!!! 👍🏻

necessaryyyyy.

good job, in general, I like the result. Have you tried a white silicone caulk, like for bathrooms instead of grout on the cracks of the tile shelves? That might solve your cracking problem.
I actually really like how you brought the laminate countertop color back with the bench cushions! I low key love that color.
Omg I would’ve bought your hutch in a heartbeat I’ve been in love with it ever since you made it! I hope it’s in a wonderful new home

sad about the floating shelves but so happy that the kitchen reno is finally over! it's been a long time coming and it looks so good!
Kelsey, I'm in awe!!! So sophisticated and beautiful!!! Enjoy your new kitchen, I love every bit of it.
It's so bright and airy! Wonderful job. I personally prefer a little more color in my home, but wouldn't mind having this kitchen for myself one bit!

Why tile the shelves? Use walnut wood shelving to bring in the natural element and it will look lovely in your kitchen.
Whew omg I'm so relieved you left the marble table top. It's gorgeous.
Kitchen table maybe can match the wood tone of the hardware you choose? still watching....
Hi Kelsey, did you seal the mdf with zinsser BIN shellac based primer before installing it? That stops it from swelling once any paint or grout is applied.

Love it! ❤ and just a tip: black hardware will get limescale stains very quickly. I would recommend a water softener system if you can. Or clean daily with vinegar. The round countertop is stunning!
Now the kitchen dominates the whole room, to me there’s too much black color and straight lines for such a space
I’ve been following your home series from the beginning and it’s so nice to see everything come together 😊
Gorgeous! Been waiting a long time for your kitchen install to happen. Love the cabinet colour and all your design choices.
It could be cute to add walnut trim to your tile to cover the grout! Agree with other comments about a biggsr walnut table top. Love your kitchen. It's absolutely gorgeous! Your pantry is a show stopper!
Congrats!!!!!!!! Ouff such a stressful adventure! Feels like the grownup version of the previous kitchen! Love it
love the kitchen Kelsey!!!! What a Makeover!
GORGEOUS OFCOURSE ! but i really loved the green counters now that i see them again
GORGEOUS! 2 small tips for those floating shelf. you could try to color match silicone to the edges/ seams first, if that doesn't work, get a few lengths of schluter trim and do the edges in that. came out awesome, great job!
Wow i love how this turned out ❤
Nifty! I'm not a fan of stone countertops at all, but really like the table. Hope the tile shelves were finally remedied. I also appreciate the cupboard next to the nook. I'll be doing a kitchen remodel in about a year, and watching you and others tackle your spaces helps me prepare a bit. Thank you.
It looks great, so I'm curious what your regrets are. I just redid my kitchen too and of course, I have regrets. It's so final, yanno?!
SO final! maybe a video one day on the things I would have done differently :)
That’s a real dream kitchen! Really really love it!
Woo hoo! Just started, but wanted to comment how much I enjoy longer videos! Almost, 30 minutes.... Yes, please! 🤩 Definitely want stocking/organization video! Also, spill ALL the regret tea! 😂
Beautiful transformation! However I think you need more pattern in the seat cushions or pillows. Love the curved island. Well done, Kelsey!
Wow Kelsey! It looks awesome. Can't wait to see the organizing
Because I love love love your big sink.
so excited to hear that rochelle is an official sorry girl now!! can't wait to see more of her
