Pete has helped me no end with my build. But when he had that dust mask on his head like a party hat had me in stitches! 😆😆

Used the trend jig probably when it first came out in 2000 but since then now use my sabuer mortise jig, any lock or latch and hardly any bits to loose, plus you can mill out the lock once you’ve hung the door in place, not rally a big fan of keep taking the door off the hinges once hung it

Nice work Pete. The lock jigs help make a very neat finish especially on a veneered door.
If you have any movement between the metal plates and the main body of the Trend lock jig then a piece of insulating tape over the edge does the trick. 👊🏻.

On that type of door i always think the lock and handles should go on the mid rail looks better than half way down but just my opinion

I’ve worked on many of these old fashioned handles and always marveled at the amount of work it would have taken to install one. Are these common where you are? Are you in England?

A tip from me: on doorknobs, sometimes the grubscrew can work loose over time. My fix is to file or cut an "x marks the spot" where the screw hits the thru-bolt - it allows the screw to bite better. Great work btw.

Be Warned! To use this jig you need to use a 1/2 inch deep depth router that plunges min 80mm with long bit, otherwise it's not going to go deep enough. Very few routers can do this. Really only suitable for use with the Trend router used in this video

Nice work - one question though. Where did the door handles come from? I like the pattern and they would fit well in our house. Thanks!

Interesting thank you "Carbon Footprint" on chisels that a new one never heard that before. And yes you may be correct about better quality steel on older chisels or higher carbon. Company i knew used to take down old steel frame factories for a price. The price would change depending on the carbon content better scrap value. Not sure why they do not use "Removable Pin Hinges" saves finished doors from getting damaged. while work is still going on each to their own of course. Must be hardest thing to do video yourself for all to have a go. "One Man's Meat Is Another Man's Poison" as they say..... Nice work well done
