    Just a note on your battery life comparison between your phone and the Tab C Pro; the power required to full switch pixels in an eink screen can be from 1 to 8 mJ/cm whereas on an LCD screen it's 1/10 of that. The usual battery benefit from an eink screen is that it only uses power when it changes whereas an LCD uses power as long as it's displaying something. However, when watching dynamic content that's constantly changing an eink screen will use far more energy than an LCD screen because it's constantly doing a full switch of pixels and doing a full switch takes more power for eink. Add to that the fact that the screen on the Boox has far more square cm to switch than the screen on your phone, and it's easy to see why you were getting more battery life from your phone than the Boox when watching a video. It's an eink problem, not necessarily a Boox problem.
    I am grateful for the time and effort you put into your videos! Looking forward to your deep guide on 3.5 update!

      Yes, if he did the reading test on the phone, it could die before the tab, although I've seen some phones get 7 to 10 hours of screen-on time in reviews (depending on use, but with actually using the phone, not just viewing one document without touching the screen) so... go figure. I'm curious. Kind of suspect that in dark mode the phone has a winning chance!
      Also, the pixel density on the phone is much higher so it consumes more energy per inch. I'd bet the backlight of the tab is more efficient too, but not an expert.
      Interesting point.

    • @MyDeepGuide
      @MyDeepGuide  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, this is all correct, and precisely because of the refresh protocol differences between panels, the only test that would give a point of comparison is the one that will force an e-ink panel in a constant state of refresh, like a regular display functions. And that happens to be video playback. Hence, the test :)

    Excellent video as always, but despite the awful battery life I guess we loose track of what is the most important issue about using an e-ink device, and that is eye strain, so for the use case of people that work long hours in front of the screen that relief might be enough to sacrifice poor battery performance. Thanks again for the great work.

      That is the main reason I bought Tab Ultra C Pro. I wanted to use it as a tablet (for note-taking I have reMarkable 2) for my studies. Just unboxing it and checking what this device is. I don't want regular tablet or laptop simply for their screen because my eyes are more sensitive to that stuff and it fatigue them quite a lot. It also have something to do with how the OLED and LCD feels to you and your brain or health. I think it has some negative aspect in it.

      Agree. Have been using it for my master study. It's an excellent device for reading and marking lecture slides, reading reference books, plus taking notes with Obsidian. Most of the time I am using it in front of my desk with it plugged in to a power source, so battery life is not my concern.

      @@abredolflincler1423 I suspect there be different causes of eye strain/types of strain? For example even reading a regular paper book in low light conditions causes eye strain. You may not think that the camera belongs to this device, but in my opinion, you could have made an example of taking a photo and add it on a note, and show the way you can write on top of it, make markings, crops, etc. When producing a report that may need to add photos to increase its details, the camera is something that is very important, and adds a lot of value to these types of documents. Just an opinion. But very good review overall!

    Nice presentation of the Tab Ultra C Pro as usual made by Voja. I own a Tab Ultra C since last spring, his video convinces me not to upgrade for three reasons: as I have near two thousand digital books and papers, in last march, I already needed a larger amount of memory space than on my old NoteAir. With Tab Ultra C. I have now 128 GB of storage space + SD card reader up to 2 TB like on the TUC Pro; battery of the TUC is better with 6300 mAh than on the TUC Pro, that gives me a very good battery life; the colour screen is important for me when I read colour graphics. So as Voja had said, since it's a product in an evolution curve, the improvement is not sufficiently great to change right now. But I agree that the NoteAir3 C, is a great product and maybe I would have bought it if it has been released 7 months ago... Indeed with its 128 GB of memory instead of 64 GB for the NoteAir3 C, the TUC would still stand last spring has a good alternative.

    • @skipper63400
      @skipper63400 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same here, I wanted to write that if the NA3C was available last spring I would have preferred it to the TUC. But now owning the TUC I see no reason to sacrifice battery life by switching to the latest models. I will stick with my TUC till they improve the screen technology.

    I had Boox Tab Ultra (BW) and love the device, crisp naturally lit screen with battery life of 5-7 days of propped use (24 hours) I got the tab ultra pro c and for similar use battery is sufficient for a workday (8-10 hours) for such devices, I don’t think battery should be compromised in that manner… the color screen is much darker than the BW which is reasonable at this stage on boox and similar devices… other than that it is a device I enjoy a lot for writing and reading compared to iPads

    Pure features the tab ultra C pro is awesome, it seems to handle a few things I want to do seemingly better than the NAC3 (mostly reading, annotating, drafting, etc) but I would like to be able to do some applications that I know will run on the 855 versus wondering how much I'm giving up with the 665. I'm mostly IT and programming and most of the heavy lifting will be done on another device but being able to have a smooth connection would be all but guaranteed on the Ultra Tab, but at that price point it costs more than my phone that I do try to do everything on. (S23) I don't expect it to do everything with the product it is, but it makes the price point a lot harder to swallow if you don't know for sure you need the extra oomph. I think this will be the push to go for the Air C 3 and just try and do all I can on it and go from there. If the tab and the keyboard together were at the Tab Ultra C's 650 USD price point (or to push my luck, 550-600), it would be a no brainer I think for anyone looking for the versatility and productivity.

    Thank you, Voja. Excellent review again. And finally you commented on reading comics. But did you try reading in Regal mode? (with animation filter time set to 400 at least) It gives you perfect colours without any ghosting, but at the cost of speed. Balanced mode in my opinion has still plenty of ghosting, especially if the comic uses a lot of dark colours.
    Btw one day I would like you to explain, why you hate OneNote so much. I think Boox makes an excellent job, implementing it in their system. Meanwhile it's really usable. And a lot of people use OneNote, so I think that's a big pro for Boox devices.

    Hi Voji, I want to ask you advide - I have the NA3C for less than a month and I love it. However as I need to have 2 to 3 very large college ebooks opened plus the note writing app, I found the device gets quite slow and sluggish. I used the cpu-z app to understand how much ram it was using with those apps and e-books loaded in memory and out of the 4gb I had only 0.8gb left of available ram; so me not being an expert in hardware/system performance, I inferred low ram being the main issue for the slowness. Hence, I am willing to return my na3c and get the tab ultra c pro assuming the performance would improve for my use case by having the extra 2gb ram and slight faster processor. Here is my question: how bad is it to take notes on the TUC pro on a flat surface without a case? I know it sounds crazy but I must use the device without a case/cover (medical/physical limiation reasons). But having read about the wobbling created by the camera bump, I wonder how bad this really is? Can you simply get used to taking notes with the wobbling or is it just too annoying and distracting, cumbersome to the point where the only alternative is to have a cover? Can the wobbling be overcome by simply getting used to it or another workaround, or is the design makes writing on a flat surface simply impractical? My iPad has a camera and it’s about +-2.5mm high and it’s not all that bad to write on it, but TUC pro camera bump looks more like 5-6mm?? I was hoping you could provide your take on this since in more detail. You did mention briefly about the wobbling in one of your videos, but didn't go into much detail, and I was hoping you could give me your advice as to whether the camera bump is really a deal-breaker for those wanting to use it without a case/cover. I would appreciate your honest perspective and insight on this as it would help me make an educated decision. Thanks for the great work and amazing content produced.

Concerning the color resolution is only 150 dpi, while the black and white resolution is 300 dpi, I'm curious to see how writing with a narrow colored pen (e.g., 1px thickness) would compare to writing with a black pen of the same thickness. In particular, I would like to see a magnified view of the written words to closely observe the details of the curvatures in your handwriting. I need to know if there any striping or pixelation effects visible in the colored words? Additionally, I was wondering if one could create a pen with a custom color, or are the color choices still limited to a predefined palette with a very limited number of colors? Could you please make a short video or post me back here? Thank you

    I would also say (like the other commenter), that the comparison to your phone is flawed, but for a different reason. E-INK consumption is lower under an assumption that the screen is not refreshed often. IPS/OLED draw power to display the information. E-INK draws power to redraw the information. In other words, there’s no sensation in the fact that in the TH-cam test E-INK performs worse.

    • @MyDeepGuide
      @MyDeepGuide  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      While what you say is factually correct (yes, the panel refresh protocols do function that way), that is also why the only relevant and equal test is actually playing video content, as this is the only state where an E-Ink screen would be forced to refresh all of the pixels at every frame, like a regular display panel does. Anything else is a biased test that has no basis for comparison.

      Because of the E-ink screen and vastly superior writing performance and experience. And despite the "bad" battery life in extensive use, in normal use it still outlasts any of the LCD or OLED devices, because of the E-ink screen. That is, unless you are watching videos or browsing the net which has tons of animated content displayed on the screen.
      So for writing and reading needs, which is the primary use case of an e-ink tablet, this is still superior, including the battery life.

    Please check if we can type using Greek Polytonic. I must use all these fonts for ancient Greek, Hebrew, and other exotic languages. Do we have all the keyboards on our computers on this device? Thank you so much!

      It have some Greek, Hebrew and some other layouts. I don't know what you fully mean with exotic languages and if the Greek is platonic.

      @@cameroncz3197Greek Polytonic is a special keyboard that allows you to write spirits, accents, and other things specific to ancient Greek texts. Exotic languages with exotic alphabets: Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, Slavonic, Latin with macrons and microns, etc.

      @@hellenomousaion8736 I think it is the monotonic Greek. Could you advise me how to write some accents and other stuff that polytonic Greek has so I can try it?
      For exotic languages there are the ones you mention and plenty more.

      @@cameroncz3197 Basically, on your computer, you install Greek Polytonic, and after, you are simply able to add all the accents and spirits you want to Greek letters, like this: α, ἀ, ἁ, ὰ, ἅ, etc. You add these extra signs by pressing the letter shift and the buttons next to the letters p, l, and m.

    It is shame it has HOURS of battery in reading mode while it does almost NOTHING!!! I have almost same time for Galaxy Tab S7. My be Snapdragon CPU is not able to sleep properly ??? There should be special low power microcontrollers except main CPU which wakes CPU between pages in battery saving mode watching touchscreen, and system should consume power only for memory support and maybe have deep hibernation mode without power consumption if page/applications not turned too long.

    This product is all it promises but they forgot to mention that the display is extremely fragile. It's so delicate that you can not take it anywhere because it might break in your bag. The worst thing is that if that happens Onyx is not taking any responsibility (display failure is categorically denied warranty) so you end up with a brick.

    what's the diff vs note 3 besides being faster? is the writing feel better?

      I made in-depth reviews of both devices and both videos have the same chapters, so you are more than welcome to watch and compare the things that interest you and that way you will easily see what the differences are between the two devices.

      I would like to have voice record option somehow with the typing function so I wouldn't need to switch functions. You said "probably." If you find out please let us know. Thanks! Luv your reviews!!

    What about writting samples. The main main reason for E- ink is writting. All surrounds it. All others I get from Ipad. Ioad is must .
    The question is can I use Boox for writting instead of rewirtable 2.
    Boox can never be Ipad. It took apple many many years to becone what they are so this competition is doomed. Not even starting .
    Again is it precuse in writting and and do all the functions that supports writting ( shapes , straight lines , photos upload to a sheath , synch , mailing , sharing to a printer !!! ,micro SD card ..) work smoothly and with many options.
    This shoukd be a writting and a reading tool and sharing tool.
    It can't be a computer . For that we have Ipad ans Sumsung TAB and Lenovo Yoga.
    Writting is a lot and if it is very very very good writting experience with having the ability to type than might buy one of this company devices. Might be Air 3 c.. since the camera on the c ultra as viewed totally sucks.
    If tge writying ecperience is smooth and natural and a bit rounded as a natural hand writting then this might be very usable for studing and work instead of paper assuming the quality is transfered by printing onto paper.
    😂😂😢😮😮😅😅😊😊😢😂😮😮😮
    For all writting apps in apple Ipad once you print a note to a paper the quality is so bad so what's the point of having nice writtings on a tan or an Ipad or a notebook yet on a print paper very bad results . So printing experience is also very important ; The ability to directly share a print from a note book and get excelent results on a print paper like you actuslly wrote itbon the print paper with no quality lose.

    Your comparison with your mobile phone is flawed. You would have to increase the size of the phone screen to over 11 inches to be able to do that. Or at least separate the power consumption from the screen and calculate it for the bigger size.

    • @MyDeepGuide
      @MyDeepGuide  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, as the phone has a higher resolution than the TUC Pro, so it's updating more pixels, meaning doing more calculations, consuming more power. Size has absolutely nothing to do with system load, resolution directly does.

    • @skipper63400
      @skipper63400 ปีที่แล้ว

      I commented that reading should be a better comparison, but you are right, your phone lasts longer on video than the TUC Pro with reading, so yes the comparison is valid

    Bought Tab Ultra C Pro . Nothing is Pro about this thing. Writing experience is VERY BAD. Noteshelf 3 on Ipad is years a head ; better response , much better letancy , much better accuracy , much much better app.
    I use sensetivity on , 0.7 thicknes , fountain pen on the noteshelf 3 on my Ipad as a normal handwriting and the redults are much more precise and easier to write and much better print results then the Boox.
    You tube Vlogers don't tell you the all truth. The E ink devices sucks for writing.
    I was a fool to buy it.
    TRY BEFORE YOU BUY - BOTH IPAD PEN ON NOTESHELF 3 AND E- INK DEVICE AND SEE FOR YOUSELF !!!
