"Who should buy" 100%. Nailed it. You are exactly who they designed this for. Comparing it to paper is the *only* comparison that makes sense. It was the design center, according to their pre-success papers. Then again, you are a designer, so you know all about that
One thing about R2 is that it literally is a digital pen and paper…no distractions with TH-cam , Facebook, X, emails etc etc. It is a tool that assists focus. …not take it way with trivia that we are all addicted too.
I bought the reMarkable 2 and the Supernote AX5 because I couldn’t decide which I would like better. So, after a year of using both I have to say that I love the reMarkable 2. It’s simple, uncomplicated, easy to navigate with a writing surface that feels just like paper. The Supernote, not so much. While it has a lot features, so does my iPad. I wanted something to just replace all my sticky notes and one place to keep my daily journal, plus my sketches. The reMarkable is a winner at sketching. I don’t care about color as my iPad has that in spades, so if that’s the only reason for an upgrade count me out. I do use the Supernote in my music room and have dedicated it to keeping notes and information strictly involving music. That’s my take on it. I’m sure a lot of people would love the Supernote and would find the reMarkable 2 to be restrictive, but that’s what I love about.
The thing I love about the Remarkable is that it really feels like an extension of my laptop rather than being a separate device. The chrome extension and desktop app sync almost instantly. I've had so many devices that's sync function was unreliable. The Remarkable is so reliable that it's quicker and better than printing a document. I've now side loaded my ebooks to it and I am using it as my primary reading device. I love that I can actually annotate the books rather than just writing on little post it notes. (I also own the Scribe). I know others rave about the Boox devices but I've owned many Android tablets and the number of apps that let you use a stylus and are designed for a large screen are minimal. The only major complaint I have against the remarkable is that you can't search for handwriting. We're paying for a cloud subscription, and this should be included in the price.
I recently got an RM2, after having the RM1 since they released in 2017. I'm still not convinced that I needed the upgrade: even the RM1 holds up quite well, although the support for a pen with an eraser is pretty neat. All round it's a great device, and I love it for taking notes, reading books, and in particular articles/papers where I want to annotate / highlight stuff. Also, worthy of note: it gets a lot of approving 'oohs' and 'aahs' in meeting rooms and at conferences. People tell me that I look more engaged and present than people taking notes on a laptop, who are "hidden" behind the folded up screen and could be anywhere between fully present and just zoned out and into whatever they're doing on their laptop instead. I wouldn't buy it just because it makes you look professional, but it certainly does help. Screen-sharing to a Teams meeting to show notes and draft things is also very nice.
Brandon, great video. Totally agree..I spent a year with the A5X and even purchased the A6X2. I love the Supernote and still do. But it was missing two things for me. Better synchronization and no color pens or highlights. I still have them but will probably sell the A6X2. I then tried the Boox Air 3c and found it was taking a lot of steps to do a few simple things I needed to do while writing, plus I could never get the Kindle App on mine to work. Yes it has the color pens and highlights but there were just too many distractions for me to concentrate on writing. I have a phone and android tablet for all that. I sent the Boox back. Then I heard the remarkable had color pens and highlights and I remember watching a bunch of your discussions on the remarkable. I just ordered it and received it a couple of weeks ago and I have found my sweet spot of a tablet. You are correct when you discuss use case. That's what everyone has to decide. Sorry for the long post, but bottom line my use case is that I teach, and for me to teach it helps me to write in different colors and highlights, plus it helps to move my writing around because while writing thoughts don't always come in the perfect sequence. So when I have everything the way I like it, I preview it on my computer, (which is almost instantaneous and in color) and if everything is the way I like it, I then print it out in color and teach from paper. After I teach, I throw the paper away but I always have a copy on my remarkable. The only thing that might make me change would be if they come out with the bigger color version of remarkable, then I wouldn't need to print to paper. Thanks for all you do on this channel.
@@BrandonKBoswell Keep up the great work your doing on keeping up with these eink tablets. It's a great help on trying to find the correct tablet for those that watch you.
I absolutely love my RM2. It’s exactly what you say. A great replacement for my paper journals. I use it everyday at work. I love the tactile feeling of writing and it sits next to my keyboard while I work. I grab it for all my meetings and just share my notes when done. I wavered about the price, but after buying it I would get another if I accidentally broke it. The google drive integration ticked the final box for me and ease of importing docs to sign and email.
Great video and I completely agree with your assesment. Remarkable 2 has completely replaced my paper notebooks and really transformed my experience with notetaking. If it were to fail at some stage, I would buy a new one in a heartbeat.
I was surprised to find that of all the options, I ultimately selected the Remarkable in 2024. Polished cloud support, EU privacy, honoring the GPL, and substantial likelihood of long-term support were all major deciding factors. Happy with it so far, though viable Google Docs collaboration and at-rest encryption would take the Remarkable to another level for professional work.
@@BrandonKBoswell I feel like the Drive integration is okay, but I can't comment/annotate Google Docs without first exporting them from Docs, so the comments aren't visible to co-workers. Encrypted storage feels like something reMarkable could more readily address. Today, it is my impression that a lost device could lead to the leaking of confidential documents stored on the device.
I just took back the Remarkable Pro. Everyone on TH-cam is just hyping up how well it writes. Ended up getting another Remarkable 2 and it was heaven to write on. If I wanna see content in color I use my M4 iPad Pro. I use the Remarkable 2 for taking notes at work and then consuming content on the iPad.
Thank you for your review. I am a chemist and I generate a lot of paper notes. This creates a big problem as I usually lose them or can’t keep them organized. Taking notes on a laptop is cumbersome because I need to sketch structures and that takes too long when I’m in a meeting.
Hey @2bleubird. I am a chemist too and I am facing the same problem you described. I started to use obsidian as a note taking application to organise my knowledge but when I read papers and want to make my notes or create mindmaps to learn concepts it's a bit annoying with that. You comment is about 5 month old and maybe you can share your experience if you got one and if its worth it.
Great video! I started with the O.G. Remarkable which I loved. I gave it to my next door neighbor's college kid and bought the Remarkable 2. Added the typing folio about a year ago. It's perfect. I'm a software engineer. I spend ⅓ of my days in meetings. My Remarkable keeps me organized and sane! I pre-ordered mine, so I'm sure I was in the first round of Remarkable 2 owners. Yes, I absolutely would purchase again if I anything happened to my precious...
Basically that same use case for me. Would you say the type folio is worth it? I also carry it around a lot so I was always hesitant to double the weight.
I might hold out for the A5X2 tbh. I think I'd appreciate the extra features without a subscription model, plus they seem to be a lot more transparent with their customers.
Just bought a remarkable 2 today. Great deal. I've been on an iPad with a paper like for years. But I carry a foldable phone as well which I prefer, and the remarkable 2 is the perfect companion.
I have been using the Remarkable 2 for years. I do not recommend it for 2024; it is outdated for current needs. Yes, it is a note-taking device, but it is necessary to add color to the notes, and RM2 does not allow this. The RM2 software is easy to use, yes, but it is so simple that many necessary options are missing, and the software does not implement them. Also, it must be mentioned that to have certain document storage functionalities on the company's servers, a monthly subscription is necessary. How? Yes, if you do not pay every month, all your documents that you have not used in the last 50 days will be deleted from the cloud. The best thing about the RM2 is the writing feel, which is very good, but the very basic software, the lack of color, and the need to subscribe for certain functionalities, make it an outdated device.
RM2 does not allow for colors on its e-ink paper screen but it does allow colors in the notes, colors which will appear when you export your notes to say a PDF.
Lack of back light sent me to the scribe……the scribe is good, i agree it lacks software, it seems to love pushing kindle books on me……i wish amazon would change the software so it has th rm feature of being able to duplicate the workbook template. Meanwhile, love the send to kindle feature. And you can email notes off both devices to yourself. Both feel great to write on. Love fountain pen in the scribe. Batteries are both great. Lack of colour is a huge problem, im very tempted to try rm pro….😊
Yes, and actually the thing that keeps me from buying any of them is that I don't think the technology is there yet in general. Now for people who write all the time and journal and basically organize their whole life writing I can see this being a game changer and worth it now or later. For someone like me who wants to use it for some very specific note taking and that's it, as well as being super picky with responsiveness, resolution, and seamless features, I think I'll keep waiting. I want to not be able to notice I'm using e-ink instead of a sheet of paper, as well as full synchronization with google docs (without downloading), a screen the size of an A4 sheet of paper, and snappy streamlined responsiveness to taking notes, organizing them, and finding them. I have a strong feeling I will be disappointed still in various ways. Maybe the remarkable 3 will do it, maybe not. We'll see.
I just bought my RM2. Hand writing experience on RM2 is so much better than on my Boox Note Air 2 Plus. The only missing feature on RM2 is inability to insert image (png/jpg) into notebook.
I keep watching reviews but I keep going back to the remarkable 2. Even though It doesn't have a backlight, I want to buy a device for the sole purpose of replacing my notebooks for school/work, to have it next to me for note taking while reading physical books, and to make to do notes for myself. It is also important for me to keep the paper grippy feel, as I hate the feeling of writing on glass and would just go back to paper, also it need to be thin and light enough to fit on my computer bag or briefcase without adding much bulk to it with a long battery because I forget to charge my phone, much less an e-ink! I think it will be hard for me to find anything else other than the remarkable, I just wish they came out with the remarkable 3 already. Do you think I should wait for the Supernote A5X2 since it seems pretty close to launch, and it also checks most of my boxes??? I would love to hear your taught on it.
Either the reMarkable or Supernote sounds like a good fit. Supernote is probably “grippier” when reMarkable feels more like pencil on paper. A5X2 got delayed to the end of the year.
Brandon, your vid review seems to suggest that SN's A5 has everything that RN2 has, and more. In your vid's end, tho, you double down on RM2, & it seems the only reason is that your A6 SN is too small. You never quite answer a question on MANY people's mind: RM2 vs SN's larger A5? If you had to choose one, then which would it be, and WHY? THANKS for the excellent video review you've provided.
I also think that as they’ve recently released the Type Folio they would want to have a device that fits it. And they would need a front light if they went for Kaleido 3 as it would be too dark on B&W text. So wonder if they are anywhere near launching a colour version.
While I can see the break of flow state with the Boox device, I find that if you choose to use the Note Air 3 for reading and notes is does all of Remarkable and allows me not to carry a Kindle or my phone for the newspaper. A nice compromise for purchasing less devices.
I've been using a remarkable 2 for a year and a half for university, and it's almost perfect. I bought the keyboard case 3 months ago and it's even better than before. However, I find they're too slow to update the tablet, the last few updates were pretty useless to be honest (today's beta update which makes files prettier for example is the last thing I wanted to have as an update....). I've been asking the development team for months to add circles, which are absolutely essential for students like me. I've been asking for months to be able to change PDF note page templates which would take maximum 10 minutes to code for them, move pages in imported PDFs, copy and paste images (I know it can be difficult to code, but it can be done). Also, adding a green pen isn't unfeasible, and would be really cool. However, I really don't think they care what their users think in the long run. I'm pretty disappointed in them for that.
@@BrandonKBoswell I feel like that this kind of technology cannot old that much compared to high tech such as Ipads... There must be internal problems, not enough developers or something like that I just send them a huge mail explaining my concerns about the updates, I hope they'll react to it !
Hey @brandonKBoswell. At 04:23 why to choose the "Onyx Boox Note Air 3C" for comparision, while there is already exist "Note Air 3 (B&W)", which would be better fit for this comparison / similar to the "Remarkable 2" , given it (Note Air 3 B&W) does not have the "color layer" that the 3C has? From my understanding (and by watching your own other videos) "Note Air 3C" is targeting the different use case, rather than "Note Air 3 (B&W)", as well as "Remarkable 2", hence, it does not logical to me to use it (3C) for this comparison.
Brandon,I’ve been looking at the RM2 for about a year now, and after considering the others , i don’t need another tablet with browsers, apps, etc…. Got an Ipad for that. My birthday and fathers day are here and my family want to help me buy the RM2 or whatever i need, and i pick the RM2 for it’s simplicity without distractions. I have a Iphone and Ipad for that. I like the fact that the RM2 still has a 100 day refund policy nd with the updates taht I’ve been seeing they are trying to keep it viable. Simplicity to replace all of my journals and this video has convinced me. Thank You!
BELIEVE IT OR NOT.... I SAW YELLOW COLOUR HIGHLIGHTING "YELLOW" ONCE in remarkable 2 (it's supposed to be grey/ black)..... When I switched to another page....
Needing a subscription to take advantage of everything RM2 has to offer is what’s keeping me waiting for the new A5X2 coming hopefully end of year. In the meantime, my iPad will do just fine.
You don't even need the subscription, it's basically just additional cloud storage, you use reMarkable's desktop app to sync with tablet and transfer files.
just subbed...and purchased a used reMarkable 2..I also have the Kindle Scribe. I will use this as my note master file, and my Scribe on the road. I take ALOT of notes for work and study. I find myself having to rewrite notes taken at work (so hence a "Master File). Also, the Scribe is nice to have on the road while I am traveling to work to access my books. Thanks for the video.
Let's hope reMarkable stay focused on this product. Keep the updates coming and continue to innovate on this platform (OS) and try not to change its strategy by changing the platform to appeal to other crowds. And I really hope reMarkable come out with a color version because I like to highlight my notes with different colors for priority reasons. Yes, it's still worth the money in 2024.
You called this well. rM2 is still the go-to for notes and creatives in my opinion. rMPro for those who may want colour. I might have to test the AX5 though 👀
Fantastic Video Brandon! I think you are spot on. I bought the Remarkable, returned it and honestly which I had kept it. I take notes and do a LOT of excerpting from PDFs and Websites and I found it limiting but honestly for creativity, thinking and sketching out thoughts I don’t think you can beat it. I waited for the M4 IPads , hoping (more portable keyboard etc.) and I think I am going to go back to Remarkable AGAIN😊
Something tells me, even with the Paper Pro now out, I'm going to be using my pennies on the rM2. I prefer the minimalist businesslike-ness of it. Reminds me of my old BlackBerry, which I would still pick over my modern smartphone, if I could.
what would be the best device to review and markup pdf / word A4 legal documents? Contracts, essentially. Has to sync with some cloud. that would be to avoid printing. Kudos if i can use it to read ebooks too. I have a kindle paperwhite w 300p resolution and i ve used lower resolution ones, i think the difference is stark, so i really question the remarkable and its low resolution. I'd need crisp text where i can see 1 A4 page in one go.
I keep looking at e ink tablets - I want support for kindle/ebooks, pdf, drawing and writing My choices are the new Boox 10", the Scribe and the Supernote - simply turn on do not disturb mode and fiddle with settings to stop notifications. I feel RM2 needs an update and I am not a fan of subscriptions. However, your video explains pretty well why you might still want to consider the RM
Thank you for your video. It helped me to narrow my expectations. Mostly because I only use my eink tablet for writing and creativity. But it's true that I miss a lot the colour option. Before my eink device, I wrote and used notebooks regularly, and I always carry a pack of colour pens (I still do carry them with me and a notebook). But using a e-ink tablet is so cool and nice feeling, knowing that everything is in there and reachable... So, if you are a creative that is extremely happy with the remarkable like experience... But you need colour to develop your work... Where should I be looking for? I really don't need all that connectivity and computer/phone apps... But I need at least some size for my notes to write and design on. Is the Tab Ultra C the only option? Would the Nova AirC be ok today? Could I use the Kobo Libra Colour? Thank you in advance for your time and help! Have a very nice week!
Great video. I found it helpful when trying to decide whether or not I should get the Remarkable for work. Even if it wasn’t helpful I’d subscribe on that Kendrick/Drake stray you threw alone.
Thanks Brandon. I'm still using my Rm 1. Although I often wish that it had a magnetic pen and longer battery charge life, in all other respects, it's still totally groovy and user friendly. And my connect subs is lifetime free. 😊
Great review. I love this device & was wondering if I'm the only person still using one ;) I don't even write or draw, but am extremely busy and use it purely to plan out work, to do lists, diagrams etc. I love how amazingly fast it is to pick up, jot down some notes in whatever format I want and then refer to them anytime. No opening an app, updates or having to type + the battery lasts ages. Can't wait for the R3!
Im looking for smth to display music sheets. We recently switched to tablets and in the sun you cant see anything. It has to be able to send/recieve files to/from other android tablets and my windows pc and have bluetooth. A color display would be a nice extra for marking stuff in the notes but not necessary. Also a backmight would be good because we also play at night sometimes wich might be problematic without one. It needs to be about A4 sized altho a little bit smaller isnt bad. Just not _too_ small to read A4 sheets. Wich one do you think would be good?
i think if you want a better feeling when writing on an iPad, just get a paperlike screen protector. And when you stop pressing down on the screen too much, I think the iPad writing is just as good as on remarkable
I loved everything about this video and it was exactly what I needed to try and decide if I want to get a Remarkable or not... most likely getting it. Thank you Brandon!!
I am just going to assume Amazon is scraping any device from Amazon. I also assume Amazon will be selling deidentified data. I would not be surprised if they head down to the patent office to file a few of my ideas.
the thing I find annoying is that it came wit only a quick start guide. so i have loaded the batteries, switched the thing on...and then wat? I have no clue. i need a tutorial for non ituitive users.
Thank you! This hit right on a hesitation for me. I want to replace physical notebooks, esp with something that can take my notes and save them digitally where they should be, whether it's for work or personal matters. And make it easier for me to turn them into something I can use on my computer. I was hesitant to go with reMarkable 2 because no one likes spending a lot of money only for the new model to come out shortly after. It makes the already short life span of tech become a ticking time bomb.
I really wanna make an eink device my daily driver, but I need it to be able to mirror to a monitor or TV over wire. (by usb to hdmi dongle or cable) There is no android eink device filling that niche of mine, correct?
A fellow lefty! Binders, white boards, chalk boards, and tablets have been a nightmare for me to write and doodle on. How does the Remarkable 2 handle the left handed struggle?
The massive annoyance for me is the lack of backlight on the RM2. Kindle Scribe is nice, but not as pleasant to use, and as you said, the software is SERIOUSLY lacking. And when you use a desk light with the RM2, it annoyingly reflects on most of the screen.
Price is a factor worth noting. I just recently bought a Kindle Scribe after spending some time shopping all of the options including the Remarkable 2. My final decision came down to those two devices, and price probably was the single biggest deciding factor. I got the Scribe for $239, and the Remarkable 2 right now is listed at $399. That's a big difference. The Remarkable software might be better, but whatever advantages it had weren't worth the extra $160 to me.
Brandon - for me the big attraction is if I can write and write and write in my handwriting on a ReMarkable 2 and then after the meeting press a button and what I have written magically turns into type written text that I can then convert into a wordprocessed document or a PowerPoint-type document. Such a feature, if quick and accurate, would be 100% ideal for me. I am told the ReMarkable 2 has a feature that allows the user to convert their handwriting into typed text, but I have never seen a review or a video that shows me this feature being used. Is this because it is not a very good feature? Is it because it is very inaccurate? Or it is a paid extra? Or it is not possible to do this?
the struggle I have is recollection and search. I think the Remarkable 2 still doesn’t allow for easy search of handwritten notes? Does it allow for search on the mobile app or desktop app (is there a desktop app/web app?) - if so that may be good enough, using the tablet mainly for the immediate notes.
Anything that's handwritten and has stayed handwritten - i.e., you haven't converted to text - isn't searchable, no. You'd have to convert it all to text to be able to search, or potentially make headers with typed text to let you search through those (you still wouldn't be able to search the text body, though).
Just because of how e-ink refresh rates work, you would never get as smooth zooming in and out as with for instance an iPad. If your main workflow is drawing, zooming out to see an overview and in to draw details, then the RM isn't for you. If that's not your main task, I don't think you would be bothered much by zooming and panning speed. Panning down to extend a page can certainly be a bit choppy, but personally I just prefer making new pages anyways since that keeps a regular paper aspect size should I want to print later.
@@bgosl i got a boox air 3c and refresh rate is just what i needed. i use it everyday for journals, church notes, fashion designs, art, etc. this is what made me get it lol and battery is crazy good. I think people just compare it to other blk/wht tabs with battery life. It lasts me a whole week and more (i use it about 1-2 hours a day)
So as the resident expert, and the fact that you've been hands on with both, I have an RM2, but I'm frustrated with the software capabilities on it!! Do you think the Boox NA3 is a viable upgrade primarily for custom template support, and better shape drawing tools over the RM2? And the fact I can access my calendar and contacts from it. I have no need for color on this device! PS Oh yeah I can read my Kindle collection on the NA3, not earth moving but a happy extra!
I find it disappointing that the reMarkable is not sold in physical stores in Canada (such as Best Buy, Costco ...). As someone who practically almost never purchase any products / services online, due to scam worries, but also barriers related to product returns, I wish I could enter a physical store location in Canada, see the reMarkable on the display there, feel it possibly purchase it, and be able to return it, to the store, if I'm not satisfied, for a full refund, according to the purchase terms. Easy. Why can I enter a Best Buy store in Canada and purchase there an iPhone / Samsung Cellphone / Surface Tablet / iPad / Dell Laptop, etc., but not a reMarkable?
Thanks for this great video! What would you recommend for taking notes for a science college student? About 4-5 courses per session and need to incorporate pdf files and maybe images...
I want a RM2 to replace all the notebooks, loose papers, and scribbles I have around me. I already have an iPad. The only thing holding me back from RM2 is that a new model has to be coming soon. I hope you are right that it is a different color model and not an evolutionary upgrade to the RM2. Hate to buy, only to have a new model out by fall.
Looks really good! Thanks a lot. I’m just really in doubt to buy it now, since the RM3 is expected. Does anyone has an idea how long it will take before the RM3 is out?
of course, I‘d buy it again, because there is no such a device available from an another vendor. Others do have e-Ink tablet, yes, and they‘re great devices. The reMarkable is not (just) an e-Ink device, it is the perfect digital piece of paper in front of you. Just try other devices, than you realize how good (easy to use, seamless work of desktop and mobile Apps) and precise the RM2 is! Important: there is no difference when using notebooks, PDFs and eBooks - you can store them within the same folder, same toolset and accessable from the Apps, too! Ever tried to take a look into an eBook while on the road and your table is at home? no issue at all using the reMarkable App!
Can you read PDF files and make notes on them? I plan tu use this to study some technical docs, and i will need to make some notes on those files… thanks.
What do you think of the reMarkable 2? Is it still worth it in 2024?

Met your brother-in-law at work this week. Your content is as good as he promised. You have a new loyal subscriber.
Hi, could you explain how to sideload ebooks? Is it possible to read an EPUB file?
@@toksincit is posible, you can learn how in their webpage
How did you load the ebooks!? I must know your secrets
Agreed!
Brandon, great video. Totally agree..I spent a year with the A5X and even purchased the A6X2. I love the Supernote and still do. But it was missing two things for me. Better synchronization and no color pens or highlights. I still have them but will probably sell the A6X2.
What a lovely comment! Thank you
@@BrandonKBoswell Keep up the great work your doing on keeping up with these eink tablets.
Can you lock individual notes for privacy when sharing your rm2?
Great video and I completely agree with your assesment. Remarkable 2 has completely replaced my paper notebooks and really transformed my experience with notetaking. If it were to fail at some stage, I would buy a new one in a heartbeat.
The Kendrick vs Drake comparison just did it for me 😆😆😆
I was surprised to find that of all the options, I ultimately selected the Remarkable in 2024. Polished cloud support, EU privacy, honoring the GPL, and substantial likelihood of long-term support were all major deciding factors.
Happy with it so far, though viable Google Docs collaboration and at-rest encryption would take the Remarkable to another level for professional work.
Better Google Drive support would be nice.
Decided to buy one of these an hour ago and then saw this video, excellent overall coverage
Thank you! I hope you love it.
Did you like it?

Thank you for your review. I am a chemist and I generate a lot of paper notes. This creates a big problem as I usually lose them or can’t keep them organized. Taking notes on a laptop is cumbersome because I need to sketch structures and that takes too long when I’m in a meeting.
What electronic writing pad are you going to use then?
The subscription seems to bug a lot of people. But bear in mind you get one year free, and then it’s $2.99 per month. That’s ONE Starbucks latte!
Just bought a remarkable 2 today. Great deal.
I've been on an iPad with a paper like for years. But I carry a foldable phone as well which I prefer, and the remarkable 2 is the perfect companion.
I will never give up my analog notebooks and journals, but I do love having a digital backup of my notes and journal entries.
Backups 100%.
Great video covering all the questions I’ve been pondering. My use case is very similar to yours.
It’s the subscription model that put me off the thing even when new
RM2 does not allow for colors on its e-ink paper screen but it does allow colors in the notes, colors which will appear when you export your notes to say a PDF.
Watching this now in October 2024, predictions are so spot on, its a little scary. Bought the RM2 and loving it!
The only thing that retains me from buying the Remarkable 2 is the probability that the next gen Remarkable could be announced soon.
We'll see.
This is true. Been some time. I believe something's going out SOON.
@@joedonasales127you were right, the paper pro was just announced yesterday;)
@@BrandonKBoswellhas this been confirmed officially by supernote? That would be a huge disappointment.
I really hope they don’t do color.
While I can see the break of flow state with the Boox device, I find that if you choose to use the Note Air 3 for reading and notes is does all of Remarkable and allows me not to carry a Kindle or my phone for the newspaper. A nice compromise for purchasing less devices.
ordered my RM2 Over the weekend and I really don't know what to expect, But I sure am Glad its still a great option for what it is.
How was it?
I agree that the pace of development feels slow. I’m not sure how much of that is intentional or is them bumping up against technical debt.
@@BrandonKBoswell I feel like that this kind of technology cannot old that much compared to high tech such as Ipads... There must be internal problems, not enough developers or something like that
I just send them a huge mail explaining my concerns about the updates, I hope they'll react to it !
I believe that when you need and can afford a 500ish electronic notebook, you can afford. 2.99$ a month for the subscription. At least, as a pro user.
You don't even need the subscription, it's basically just additional cloud storage, you use reMarkable's desktop app to sync with tablet and transfer files.
Point taken@@jean-philipperottiers614
just subbed...and purchased a used reMarkable 2..I also have the Kindle Scribe. I will use this as my note master file, and my Scribe on the road. I take ALOT of notes for work and study. I find myself having to rewrite notes taken at work (so hence a "Master File). Also, the Scribe is nice to have on the road while I am traveling to work to access my books. Thanks for the video.
If you did not know I must say your guess was completely spot on. A remarkable pro in colours and no discontinuation of Remarkable 2...;-)
What type of pen do you use ? It's sharp.
Did you hear about the new Daylight Computer 1? Any thoughts?
Yes, I will have a review when it arrives!
Can I access Microsoft One Note on Remarkable?
I have looked online and can't really find The Supernote A6 or A5. I assume it wasn't released into the UK market.
7:13 what stylus are you using with the remarkable? Is that the one from Boox?
Yes, Boox Black. I don’t think it’s available yet.
This was an excellent video. Thank you so much Brandon for the clarity of your advice
Thank you. Can you upload a calendar digital template to Remarkable?
Many people do it, but it's not officially supported. reMarkable pushes people to use a PDF instead.
The main purpose of reMarkable is focus writing without distraction and its what make it so great.
"Perhaps a ReMarkable Pro"
Coming here to say... NAILED IT!
What a wonderful layered insights!.
You called this well. rM2 is still the go-to for notes and creatives in my opinion. rMPro for those who may want colour. I might have to test the AX5 though 👀
Can you read kindle books on Remarkable 2pro?
Unfortunately not
@ thank you
What’s wrong with Apple for not having or at least designing one?
Fantastic Video Brandon! I think you are spot on. I bought the Remarkable, returned it and honestly which I had kept it. I take notes and do a LOT of excerpting from PDFs and Websites and I found it limiting but honestly for creativity, thinking and sketching out thoughts I don’t think you can beat it. I waited for the M4 IPads , hoping (more portable keyboard etc.) and I think I am going to go back to Remarkable AGAIN😊
Thank you! I do wish it had a way to screenshots things and then annotate over them. Maybe one day.
Still very interesting reading just 24 hours after the release of the Remarkable Pro (3) !
This seems interesting, but I'm mainly interested in reading PDFs and such. Does anyone know if this advice still holds then?
awesome overview! subbed!
Thank you for that , is there a keybord inside if you want to print and not only use your own handwrite??
I keep looking at e ink tablets - I want support for kindle/ebooks, pdf, drawing and writing
My choices are the new Boox 10", the Scribe and the Supernote - simply turn on do not disturb mode and fiddle with settings to stop notifications.
Excuse me, Is the S pen fit for the new RM paper pro?
Im looking for smth to display music sheets. We recently switched to tablets and in the sun you cant see anything. It has to be able to send/recieve files to/from other android tablets and my windows pc and have bluetooth. A color display would be a nice extra for marking stuff in the notes but not necessary. Also a backmight would be good because we also play at night sometimes wich might be problematic without one. It needs to be about A4 sized altho a little bit smaller isnt bad. Just not _too_ small to read A4 sheets. Wich one do you think would be good?
what about subscriptions needed?
Is it possible to edit notes you made earlier?
Yes.
Here's a question, did ReMarkable offer a trade in option from the rM1 to the rM2 when it first came out?
Not that I am aware of
@@BrandonKBoswell bummer
Hi, this is the first time I have seen your videos, and I was very impressed by the production quality. Many thanks
Thank you for the kind words, Simon!
Ouch. I’m old now. The Drake vs. comparison went right over my head.
Time to start wearing my pants up to my chest.
i think if you want a better feeling when writing on an iPad, just get a paperlike screen protector. And when you stop pressing down on the screen too much, I think the iPad writing is just as good as on remarkable
where did you get that blue sofa?
West Elm
My concern is the exportability of files. I want to keep my files out of the Cloud as much as possible, preferably bypassing it completely.
I love mine! And use it all the time
I really wanna make an eink device my daily driver, but I need it to be able to mirror to a monitor or TV over wire.
Agree, agree and agree
Why would you actually want a backlight?
Great clarity 👏🏼
Does this come with manual handwriting notes in real digital handwriting? If so do I have to pay for it?
ReMarkable 3 release date? Any prediction too. I want to buy one, but I would rather wait if part 3 is coming.
If I were to guess, likely reMarkable Color this Holiday season and a replacement to the reMarkable 2 coming next holiday season.
@@BrandonKBoswell Thank you
Price is a factor worth noting.
I just saw where they stopped selling the tablet by itself, that used to be the inexpensive way to go, but it looks like they closed that approach. ;(
Not having a front light is unexcused usable
What’s the best size to get for the rm2 I can’t decide
You'd have to convert it all to text to be able to search, or potentially make headers with typed text to let you search through those (you still wouldn't be able to search the text body, though).
i really want to get it but seeing how slow the art response is when youre zooming and panning idk :[
It depends on how important focus is for you. The NA3C has more drawing features, but I keep getting figurative paper cuts with it.
I started on the Boox and then switched to the remarkable.
About 4-5 courses per session and need to incorporate pdf files and maybe images...
have you tried the kobo?
Thank you, very nicely structured and informative video!
which one has fastest response when writing?
how would you compare Renarkable 2 to Daylight ?
Very different devices, but I will have a Daylight Computer soon for review!
🤞
Agreed!
Can you read PDF files and make notes on them? I plan tu use this to study some technical docs, and i will need to make some notes on those files… thanks.
Yes
