  • In this video I give a full in depth tour of the 1999 Chevrolet Malibu LS V6. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

    A 2000 Chevy Malibu was my very first car in 2010. I'm 19 now and I've put over 20k miles on it. I've kept it in almost perfect condition this whole time. I love it now just as much as when I first got it.

    These were good cars if you took care of them. This one wasn't well maintained, but my dad had one that is now my mom's, and it has over 300K miles with no problems whatsoever.

      ChevyboyCaprice_6947 these cars can have even more mileage than that and still run fine it’s always down to maintenance it doesn’t matter how old the car is or how notoriously unreliable it is you have to be willing to put money into fixing the car and maintaining it and tending to any common problems it may have otherwise you’re giving people nowadays the impression that old cars are all garbage and unreliable trash

      @@silasmcgee3647 thank you so much! I always thought even with proper maintenance, a car can give out. But you're absolutely right, cause I do remember an old friend having a car with over 700k miles. But it was all the maintenance done to it. Thanks again, now I'm really gonna keep my Malibu forever!

      Mines hitting 267k miles. Only thing currently wrong is sunroof doesn't work/failed seal rear driver side window bar fell, ac and cooling fans doesn't work. Other then that everything else works great.
      Also the lights that are on on dash are check engine light, brake light and abs.
      I know why don't now why brake like is on and abs. I replaced everything on front end besides axles and spring/strut assembly.

    The Malibu LS has a very soft spot in my heart as I git one as a present from my Grandparents. I have a 2001 Navy Blue Malibu LS with the Neutral cloth interior with the bowtie accents. I've added chrome Oldsmobile wheels, a burlwood steering wheel cover with beige floor matts with wood grain. I also added a blue Chevrolet lettering decal in the back window. Very Proud of mine! :)

    That looks exactly like my '99 Malibu V6 (minus sunroof, all tan interior). Plush seats were power based and extremely comfortable. I bought mine in the summer 2003 from a used car lot. It wasn't perfect, but it lasted a long time. I traded it in at a Toyota dealership in April 2009 for a 2007 Corolla.

    I have a 2001 Chevy Malibu LS with the 3100 SFI 3.4 it comes stock with about 200+- HP. Real easy to mod too. I got a full exhaust job done and a K&N Cold Air intake. Estimated to be about 250 now. Sure does have A LOT of get up and go for a V6 though lol. And yet I still get about 30mpg :DD

      Bulk of these have probably been junked

    • @JetTDi
      @JetTDi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hope they weren't scrapped. That would be horrible haha. I see 2 Malibu's at my local junkyard. Checked the dipstick and both of them were milky. They were junked because most likely the plastic intake gasket failed. They should of never put plastic into an engine. But, that's just one flaw with these cars. Just like any car has its flaws.

    • @JetTDi
      @JetTDi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes sir. I really like the Malibu's. I don't believe that they get enough credit. People think they are just crappy cars, that's obviously because they are not maintained. I'm not saying that there weren't a few lemons out there, but the majority of people hate them because the didn't take care of them, and they broke down. They have great power, but as long as you dont beat on them, they will last. There are plenty of videos of the Malibu's going over 200,000 miles (350,000 km I think). Mine tripped 220,000 miles 2 days ago. There are a bunch of Malibu owners that live near me that have over 200,000 miles. With great maintenance of course. I hope all goes well with your sisters purchase. Just make your you check all the fluids and listen for noises. Hopefully it'll be a great car!

    I have a 1999 Olds Cutlass right now (exact same car), extremely bland car for sure but its been pretty reliable. Only big thing I've ever replaced was the water pump. Mine is tip-top and I'm still amazed every day by how bad the gas mileage is, DEFINITELY does NOT get 30 mpg, more like 22 on average. But with that being said it has 154,000 miles and has never really done me wrong, never even had any warning lights on the dash (but I do keep mine properly maintained unlike this person).

    My grandmother had one of these cars. The Service Vehicle Soon light that illuminates on those style Malibu's was meant for daytime running light issues. Dont ask why, it just is. There is a separate normal check engine light near the water temp gauge that is a normal diagnostic light. That also explains why you didnt see the SVS light illuminate until you put it into gear (when the DRL's come on). Anyways, that car is beat lol.

  • @BrandonHill1234

    I have a '98 Standard 3.1 L, with the same cracking problem on the interior armrest of my driver's side door. random illuminated check engine light, loose headlight, trunk latch cover issue, as well as the detached plastic cover for the center console. Furthermore, there are two buttons in the rear that hold the roof upholstery in place, that water leaks from during heavy rain.
    I suppose these problems are common among this generation of Malibu.
    It think its warranted to mention my car was used as an undercover detective vehicle, and this had much of it's wiring, including the cigarette lighter, repurposed.
