    I love using Chill, it makes most difference on the V11 highway stack. The thing about it is that it's best used when you already know you will arrive at your destination on time and you actually want to have a chill drive.

    I’ve only been using FSD for about a month, and haven’t really been able to tell the difference between chill, average and assertive. The one thing I have noticed is FSD is surprisingly better on city streets than on the highway when it comes to lane changes and follow distance. I think it will get better when highway and city streets are both on the neural net stack.

    • @CYBRLFT
      @CYBRLFT  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the annoyances are mostly highway and predominantly because of the v11 code behind that. I don’t have much complaint on city streets.

  • @Kaipiso
    @Kaipiso หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I think that chill mode preference might come from the area specifics. In most urban cities it would be unusable I think. But in San Francisco, sure why not.
    And about the U-turns. I have noticed a few videos with the latest releases showing interesting thing. FSD does not agree with the navigation in the terms, which left turn allows to take a U-turn. So it reroutes - often to the right, to make a detour, and avoid making U-turn maneuver completely. But it it is not a misunderstanding, just lack of trust in the navigation data. I was thinking it should be more trusting with the newer releases, but it seems like it is the opposite.
    My guess is that a lot more training videos with closed roads and constructions zones were given to fsd to train on. And that is the reason for this strane behavior.

  • @david-iam
    @david-iam หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I drive almost exclusively in "chill" mode for most of the FSD releases. I think there was an obvious regression in path planning in 12.3.6. If that's the only version you're testing the chill mode versus average and agressive... then it could be this particular point release to blame and not so much the drive mode. This discussion does give me some insight as to drive 12.3.6 in Average or Agressive mode to see if the path planning issue is still present.

    • @CYBRLFT
      @CYBRLFT  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’d be inclined to the that the path planning issues would span all the drive modes like you said and admittedly the majority of my annoyance is with the highway behavior still operating on v11.

    Adrian contended that engaging chill mode enhances the car’s safety, at the cost of reduced speed, which can be frustrating. If the car is left to operate in chill mode without interference, it is likely to complete its journey without any safety disengagements. However, the occurrence of multiple reroutes would be considered a failure for a robotaxi according to your metrics.

    • @CYBRLFT

    Saturday, May 04, 2024 . . . Hello. I am not currently a motorist, though I am keenly interested in technology. I have viewed a many number of FSD videos since the later months of 2021, above up to 18 hours a day, including yours. One thing I have noticed is Teslas seem uncommonly to all have different "Drive-Personalities" while "Waymos" all seem to have the same Drive-Personality, just an almost eery observation. On (Chill, Average, and Aggressive), it is most probably a matter of personal preference like, what's your favorite color. That's my two cents. Be well, stay safe. Peace.

    i think people's confirmation bias has given them an idea of the settings that arn't real at all

    • @CYBRLFT
      @CYBRLFT  หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thx for sharing. Don't you think that there should be an Auto mode as well? I see that content creators in different states prefer different styles of driving and it might be appropriate for that State or town. Auto should vary or apply the chill, standard and assertive where needed.

  • @mikeyc8139
    @mikeyc8139 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I've found 12.3.6 to be a bit of a regression as well. It's not "bad": just not as good as the previous versions. I was using chill mode until recently for two reasons: I feel the follow distance on the others is too close and I don't like how avg and assertive change to the wrong lane sometimes just a half mile from a turn. That said, I had to turn chill mode off and use avg because I discovered chill mode is scared to DEATH of lane changes and it'll hesitate mid-lane-change (particularly when getting into a left turn lane) and sometimes even go back to the original lane which is bad because others don't know your intention. Avg mode seems to have solved that issue.

    • @CYBRLFT

    • @CYBRLFT
      @CYBRLFT  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The issue is predominantly highway for my complaints. But to your point I don’t find the profiles to be significantly different to matter on the NN which was my point in countering the claim that chill is more successful than the other modes.

    • @groet508
      @groet508 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CYBRLFT Yes, I am basically agreeing with you. I think the settings are a legacy that only affects the highway stack. The idea that chill is a better driver is probably cope in the city scenarios where most of the interventions happen.
      Having a more "chill approach" and letting the car do its thing probably leads to less interventions than the agro drivers that take over if the car stops to far back from the car in front etc. Maybe that is what Omar meant?
      It will be interesting to see if they actually have different modes when it is all NN or if the car will be chill as standard (which a robotaxi probably should be in most scenarios).

      I disagree. Not the tailgating point, that isn’t relevant to this discussion. Tailgating is not good. Assertive and Average do a great job of maintaining a good distance from the forward car and executing speed based lane changing as well as not braking excessively early which is my point in this part of the video.
      Chill on the highway lingers back like grandma in her Buick if that reference makes sense to you. It’s not unsafe, but it’s pretty inefficient and timid in my experience.

      Same here. 12.3.4 was great but seems like 12.3.6 took a step back. More waffling in lane changes and unnecessary hard breaking when a light turns yellow. It wants to stop way before white lines at stop signs and traffic lights. Also, I sometimes like to ask for a lane change by putting on blinker but car refuses to move to another lane. I mainly do this because I know I will be exiting soon and fsd does not plan soon enough with heavy traffic. It is awesome though compared to before 12.x. I love using parking lot summon.
