    There are many other places in Ghana that are very nice besides Accra. Everyone mostly thinks when they move to Ghana it has to be Accra. I couldn’t live in Accra, it’s to congested for me. I need peace and quiet.

      That’s just like most countries folks who move go to the main major city or state and the prices are wild. Example, folks who move to Atlanta when you can live in Austell, Mableton, Smyrna? Why move Miami when you have Fort Lauderdale? NYC when you have places upstate?

      Many thanks, George and unto you as well. I made the mistake of buying Kelewele at East Legon lol. It was like boutique Kelewele for 20 Cedis lol. That would have been 5 Cedis by the roadside in Kumasi:) The beauty of Ghana lies in its diversity. I took the family for a vacation at Gomoa Fetteh. Amazing white sand beaches and a real escape. Folks planning to move permanently should explore other parts in Ghana before deciding to settle. Many think Ghana is Accra.

    A million dollars for land! Move to Teacher Mante for a plot of land less than $2000.00. In less than ten years, that land will be selling for over $30000.00. I pity diasporas when they come to Africa and try all means to stick themselves into the high end areas of the cities. I felt pity for Anna and the family when they were dishing out fat wads of dollars for apartments here and there. Those monies can buy ten plots of land on the outskirts of the city. I feel very confident in my heart that their kids would love those places more than the over polluted carbon monoxide city centers. They have very beautiful and adventurous kids

Before African Americans came to these places, locals have already created their spaces.

    Almost all of you are missing the point. She is talking about living an accustomed Western lifestyle with International Schooling for her child and a nice suburban area for LESS money in the U.k. Many of African descent living in the Western world CAN AFFORD a $300,000 house OVER THE COURSE OF A 30 YEAR PAYMENT. The "Year of Return" consists of AA and UK black folks giving Ghana 10 years worth of Ghanaian salary in one lump sum. AA were still in chains 140 years ago. What's being asked of us is ridiculous.

    • @amorkor4
      @amorkor4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think i missed your point - what exactly are you being asked for? Paying rent in advance ie one year or two is normal here. Indigenous and foreign both pay in advance. The real problem is that most AA or Black Brits want to rent in the most expensive area and then complain about the prices, which has a major impact on us here because it pushes the prices up for everyone. Last time I heard either Anna or Vanessa Kanbi say that the schools they are looking at cost around $10,000 either a term or year. Basically, what i am saying is live within your means. I came from UK 13 years ago (am Ghanaian/Brit), I have a 9 bed house in Accra which i rent out to tenants and I live on one acre in Akuapem mountains. Please Anna learn to cut your coat according to your size. We all face problems in Ghana but what you say are over exaggerating. If you parade your as a super rich person then you open the door for opportunists to dupe you. You don't live big in Holland but you came to ghana and rented a house that is bug enough to accommodate a family of ten with a swimming pool, then you complain when you are struggling to make end meet.
    If Ghana is not for you stay in your flat in Holland.

    Go to Nigeria and pay a fraction of that amount or half of it for a choice location where the richest Africans live. They build smart cities in Nigeria. You can also live on the Atlantic Ocean costal areas and on anyone of the many beaches knowing that across that ocean lies your home the USA. Plus Lagos Nigerian land and homes appreciates more in value than anything you can buy in Ghana and they are better quality. But in Nigeria you have to up your game to compete competently and professionally with the extremely skilled, talented and hardworking locals who really believe that they are as good as anyone else from any part of the world. Or even better.

    I read that you can’t own land in Ghana outright as well. Everything is leasehold ownership for 19 to 99 years. So, the idea of generational wealth is out of the question. Especially if you’re blessed to live a good old age. In my family, I have aunts who are still alive and are between the ages of 102 and 105 years old. What would have happened to them when they reached the 99 year leasehold end.
    Ghana is a beautiful place, but I would need to own the land outright if I’m going to be spending an amount that equals the price of freehold land. Leasehold is basically paying rent up front for 99 years in advance.

      Not true to pay for school she will need $4900 in gh cedis. I have no kids but to keep my insurance it will cost 6000 maybe in gh cedis a month and that is just basics not any luxury what’s so ever. Taking care of your self at the gym or spa should not be considered a damn luxury. Nor going to a dry cleaner. And iam not talking about eating out to restaurants either!!!! What about car care. This may sound crazy but in America I live near the Amish and they are willing to sell me a horse and buggy carriage for $9,000 us. I could ship in to Ghana and just buy me two horses to pull it and no need for a car or truck unless I go travel far. But to just get around in my neighborhood in Ghana out in the bush area. Again it’s living down but a practical change to save money.

    • @twanacisse3950
