    Fun fact..?
Kim jun-Un (sorry not sorry for butchering his name) had a brother
His brother was MUCH nicer and was against his father and brother. Obviously his father and brother hated him for this. One day he was at the airport (I believe to take his daughter to Disneyworld) he was assassinated. And the people who assassinated him had no clue they where doing so. They where told they where pranking him.
That man was the original successor but because of his death, Kim jun-Un was next in line. BRO COULDA CHANGED NORTH KOREA FOR THE BETTER.

I read a book called “The Giver” and it was pretty much about a civilization where no one is allowed to have feelings, talk too fast, wear different hair styles, fall in love, etc. If that did happen, you would either be whipped with a stick or killed, in front of the Chief Elder (aka the president). Ever since the time you start school till you turn 12, your whole life would be monitored so that the government can pick your job. There are even speakers placed around the city that can both record and give out messages like “this is a reminder that all female tens must have their hair up until after curfew”. I am honestly starting to compare these North Korean laws to the book

You forgot one other rule that NK has enforced, and that’s “Mandatory Military Service” where everyone in the country is required to serve the military when they reach the age of 17, with men forced to serve a minimum of 10 years (sometimes even 13 for certain specialized combat units) and women staying at least until they reach the age of 23. Now i added that one because North Koreas mandatory service is by far the longest of any country in the world

For a bit of understanding on why these laws seem so absurd, part of the reason is that absurdity. It is a nation which requires constant suffering in order to exist. If the needs of a person aren't met and they have to struggle to survive, there isn't enough time or resources to successfully push back against the government.
It also is worth noting that one of the main sources of labor in the nation is prison labor. The reason so many people are arrested for absurd things is that North Korea needs to arrest people in order to keep its economy even the slightest bit intact.

Reasons why I would never go to North Korea, as fascinating as it is:
    1. I am American. The "enemy".
    2. I am not just an American. I am an American *woman* . And a short one, too. Kim Jung Un might try to kidnap someone like that for his harem, or to be an actress.
    3. My beliefs are Christian. North Korea is known to be hostile territory for that faith, even if you keep it to yourself.
    4. I am unaware of the nuances of North Korea's laws. That means I could break one without meaning to, and that would be game over for me.

This is why I am so glad to be living in the USA. Not just because of these insane laws that North Korea has, but also, while North Korea doesn't have a single brand of soda or chocolate (since both soda and chocolate are considered Western influence, and we already know how North Korea feels about the West), the USA has like, a thousand brands of them. Pepsi and Dove Chocolate are among my favorite American brands.

@@cameronhoman2742 some tourism is allowed because it brings in hard cash for the government (usually US dollars). The global sanctions on trading (including tourism) prevents much cash ending up in the hands of "the people" i.e. government and Kim himself. Something has to pay for those high-end brands after all!
They get most of their money from Russia and China, but that comes either from the "wages" of workers sent abroad to friendly/neutral countries. Eg there's a government run chain of NK restaurants where the waitresses are sent without consent to serve and later on, entertain with a little band of traditional NK instruments and players.
So, there's a rather convoluted answer for you. HTH 😊

It is fermented in clay pots buried in the ground. People are so hungry they often steal the pots. Risking Death if caught!
Another strange thing is called "Harvesting Night Soil". In the countryside No plumbing exists. Outhouses are used. The
DPRK has precious few fertilizer for their agriculture. In the freezing winter. Frozen human sewage from outhouses is collected
for use as fertilizer. It is a communal chore that everyone must perform.
