by far my favorite ps3 game and probably the most unique game on the entire platform, honestly the puzzle gameplay gets addicting and fun once you get good at it (especially babel) and the story is just very refreshing, if youre tired of "quirky teenagers saving the world" oh and obviously it has a fantastic soundtrack, cmon, its atlus, one thing they consistently get right is the sound design in their games

Catherine was a beautiful game and I first played it when I was like 14. I enjoyed the story then and understood the surface but as I grew older, I got more out of the game. I'm still a teen, maybe there is more I can get out of the game as I grow older, but it's still beautiful even now. I can't wait to keep playing again and again while getting more out of it in the future.

The thing I love most about this game is how much it actually made me feel. I was sincerely uncomfortable playing it. Romantic horror is for sure a good genre for the story excluding the supernatural stuff. At times I kept felt guilty, like I was doing something wrong. When you learn everything in the end I was so relieved, but everything all the characters go through showing how REAL these issues are. Real issues don’t just go away. You solve them and make things right or you just don’t.

@E Yeah to each their own but to he honest the ending of P5R is a lot better than the original, it tells a message that its okay to move on with your life, to grow up, that your friends will drift apart in their seperate ways but you'll always have the memories and ability to visit. The message is that nothing stays the same, unlike the original ending which was fine but it was literally everyone all together at the end and felt a bit too happy. I think Maruki's ideas shouldnt be shaped on the classes he would have taken though he has clearly formed his own views.
Agreed. I first played the game in 2011 when I had no real relationships at that point and game just felt interesting. I replayed the game when full body came out, which happened out to be right after a 3 year old long relationship brake up, and the game just hit so close to home it hurts. maybe also because now I'm almost 30 and a little closer to the protagonist age too. But man I love this game. It's in my holy trinity of videogames, between kotor and front mission 3
I played this game for the first time not so long ago, and that part where you speak about the ending you got and how it came that way because of how you projected your previous relationships on you responses truly hit me. I got the ending where both Vincent and Katherine are planing their wedding, not the true ending tho, just planning about that day. In that way, this game speaks to a lot of us and teaches us a little about who we are, definitely an amazing experience.
Excellent video man. I played Catherine full body which was my second playthrough of catherine in general and playing it over again made me realize how incredible it is and how well it accomplishes its goal. Your telling of your experience with the game resonates with me deeply in the way that we both actually took the content of Catherine and applied it to our own experiences. Learning something from the game and taking the lessons hidden inside is something I don't always get from modern games but I have to say Catherine did it well.
@BoJo nw, They did add more content and the remix mode is fun, but the alternate endings with Rin take away from the premise of the game, and it feels generally glued-on to what is otherwise a very solid story. I do like the message they're trying to give with Rin though, it's just not well executed

Okay so I totally agree with your stance on the game but I would like to address the description as I actually played full body first and I might have a fresh perspective for ya so here we go My first playthrough I got the married Katherine ending but also had the opportunity to get the Rin ending as well as I got all the questions pertaining to em right first try I friend zoned rin for one reason the fact that the reveal scene happened the way it did he's all about being open in a relationship and being yourself above all else he know Vincent is the same way asking em about how he felt about gender fluid relationships earlier on but instead of letting him know he was a dude he kept the illusion that he was a she and while Vincent overreacted hard I can't say I would be okay with that level of hypocrisy intentional or not I feel it would have been better if the reveal happened in a nightmare stage so that ilr Vincent wouldn't have known because he doesn't remember the nightmare for a bitter sense of irony one of the questions was would you want you lover to reveal all their secrets and you must say yes for his ending it feels like it was done on purpose to drive that conflict home and see how you would react to be honest I was like I have Katherine as my girlfriend rn as a response but I agree with rins stance on relationships overall I would say that forgiveness isn't being okay with something it is accepting it but for the sake of moving on from it learning from that mistake so it won't happen again and it's also a 2 way street if you want others to forgive you when you make a mistake ya gotta be willing to do the same for others forgiving someone does not absolve them from the consequences of their actions simply an act of compassion and understanding towards why it transpired and the willingness to move forward full body in my eyes is just Catherine with added bells and whistles a full body experience it only adds without subtracting I get not liking the flavor they added ik not fully on board either as previously mentioned though I feel that saying this is a modern day masterpiece while discarding full body as trash undermines the message by applying 2 extremes to a similarly great experience
I first played catherine when i was 13, the game didnt really hit me until ended my first real relationship 5 years later. playing persona 5 was a real slog and i was reminded of how harsh and real catherine felt, replaying it afterwords was a real wakeup call as to how these charactors mirrored similar situations i had been thrown into as an adult, while persona 5 downright felt like a kids game. Catherine is one of the best things to show a young man entering adulthood and is a small chunk of what persona 5 should have been.
P.S. Persona 5's story is akin to a fucking loser boyfriend or girlfriend talking about their "dark side" in public, shit is just lame. The fact that grown adults treat the game like its the greatest piece of modern fiction ever made is embarassing. The fact that i did the same as a 17 year old is even more embarassing.

If anything, dont take this personal man, not trying to play devil's advocate but i find more cringy whenever someone says persona 5 is a kids game. Sounds like something a 16 year old would say: "oh im too grown up for this, this is for kids and im not a kid anymore". Im gonna call myself out because i kinda went through the same thing myself. Back when p5 released i was around the age of 16-17 and yeah, i loved it. I replayed it a year ago when i was 20 and felt kinda the same but after looking back at it now at my 21 years of age, i can see that, despite the "adult bad" thing being a little bit cringy, p5 gives you context as to why the thieves think that way and highlights a big issue barely anyone brings up. A lot of times, teenagers get taken advantage of and manipulated and at least i feel like one of the reasons said thing happens so much is because we as adults/young adults sure love to look down upon teenagers for the sake of "ugh teenagers" and its the main issue persona 5 focuses on. Joker got incriminated for something he didnt commit and people refused to listen to him because "ugh, young brat". Both Ryuji and Ann were taken advantage of by the same teacher, the school knew about it and refused to listen to student complaints because of kamoshida's status and both of them were lookd down upon because who they were. Futaba was manipulated as a kid to believe she was responsable for her mom's death. Makoto was manipulated into believing she should be as perfect as her sister. With Yusuke, Madarame took advantage of him because he knew Yusuke wouldnt fight back because Madarame took him in as a kid. With Haru, her father took advantage of her nobility to decide what her life would be in the future. Theres a pattern here of adults taking advantage of young people's lack of experience in life and its something that happens in real life that doesnt get talked about much.

Know that their getting up their in age consider Vincent is in his late 20s. Tying the knot seems like a natural thing to think about. I doubt most wanna still be lookin in their 30s. So narutally this is the right to get serious.
I only bought Catherine Full Body to see if the wild claims people were making about it were true, (spoiler alert: they were grossly wrong). I actually originally had zero interest in the game because it seemed exactly as you described it in the beginning. However I too was blown away by the gameplay and the story. I was also surprised about the first ending I got which was Catherine Good ending. However sitting down and thinking about it, it really does reflect who I get along with.

Honestly, I've been trying to find the TH-camr I watched play it years ago, and I'd appreciate it if anyone here could help me. So, obviously they played this game, but I also remember them having played Ib. I think they played TF2 once as well, think they had a deadringer as spy, but that's all I remember there. They also played Minecraft, I think they had a waldo skin, and may have gotten an animation done (something involving pumpkin pie?). Apologies if this is too vague to go off of, but this video just sparked my memory of... whoever they were. Speaking of the video, it's great. Honestly, I may go get the game myself and play it (especially since I'll have a better grasp on what's going on now).

@E Yeah to each their own but to he honest the ending of P5R is a lot better than the original, it tells a message that its okay to move on with your life, to grow up, that your friends will drift apart in their seperate ways but you'll always have the memories and ability to visit. The message is that nothing stays the same, unlike the original ending which was fine but it was literally everyone all together at the end and felt a bit too happy. I think Maruki's ideas shouldnt be shaped on the classes he would have taken though he has clearly formed his own views.

Agreed. I first played the game in 2011 when I had no real relationships at that point and game just felt interesting. I replayed the game when full body came out, which happened out to be right after a 3 year old long relationship brake up, and the game just hit so close to home it hurts. maybe also because now I'm almost 30 and a little closer to the protagonist age too. But man I love this game. It's in my holy trinity of videogames, between kotor and front mission 3

I played this game for the first time not so long ago, and that part where you speak about the ending you got and how it came that way because of how you projected your previous relationships on you responses truly hit me. I got the ending where both Vincent and Katherine are planing their wedding, not the true ending tho, just planning about that day. In that way, this game speaks to a lot of us and teaches us a little about who we are, definitely an amazing experience.

Excellent video man. I played Catherine full body which was my second playthrough of catherine in general and playing it over again made me realize how incredible it is and how well it accomplishes its goal. Your telling of your experience with the game resonates with me deeply in the way that we both actually took the content of Catherine and applied it to our own experiences. Learning something from the game and taking the lessons hidden inside is something I don't always get from modern games but I have to say Catherine did it well.
And then they ruined it with Full Body

@BoJo nw, They did add more content and the remix mode is fun, but the alternate endings with Rin take away from the premise of the game, and it feels generally glued-on to what is otherwise a very solid story. I do like the message they're trying to give with Rin though, it's just not well executed

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and felt the impact, just as much as I did. It's an incredibly underrated game. I played this first after I beat p4 (like 2015) and I fucking loved it. It's prolly my favorite game of all time next to p4. There's just so much to love about Catherine that I can't say for many others. I hope this vid gets others to try it out too.

Okay so I totally agree with your stance on the game but I would like to address the description as I actually played full body first and I might have a fresh perspective for ya so here we go
My first playthrough I got the married Katherine ending but also had the opportunity to get the Rin ending as well as I got all the questions pertaining to em right first try I friend zoned rin for one reason the fact that the reveal scene happened the way it did he's all about being open in a relationship and being yourself above all else he know Vincent is the same way asking em about how he felt about gender fluid relationships earlier on but instead of letting him know he was a dude he kept the illusion that he was a she and while Vincent overreacted hard I can't say I would be okay with that level of hypocrisy intentional or not I feel it would have been better if the reveal happened in a nightmare stage so that ilr Vincent wouldn't have known because he doesn't remember the nightmare for a bitter sense of irony one of the questions was would you want you lover to reveal all their secrets and you must say yes for his ending it feels like it was done on purpose to drive that conflict home and see how you would react to be honest I was like I have Katherine as my girlfriend rn as a response but I agree with rins stance on relationships overall I would say that forgiveness isn't being okay with something it is accepting it but for the sake of moving on from it learning from that mistake so it won't happen again and it's also a 2 way street if you want others to forgive you when you make a mistake ya gotta be willing to do the same for others forgiving someone does not absolve them from the consequences of their actions simply an act of compassion and understanding towards why it transpired and the willingness to move forward full body in my eyes is just Catherine with added bells and whistles a full body experience it only adds without subtracting I get not liking the flavor they added ik not fully on board either as previously mentioned though I feel that saying this is a modern day masterpiece while discarding full body as trash undermines the message by applying 2 extremes to a similarly great experience

I first played catherine when i was 13, the game didnt really hit me until ended my first real relationship 5 years later. playing persona 5 was a real slog and i was reminded of how harsh and real catherine felt, replaying it afterwords was a real wakeup call as to how these charactors mirrored similar situations i had been thrown into as an adult, while persona 5 downright felt like a kids game. Catherine is one of the best things to show a young man entering adulthood and is a small chunk of what persona 5 should have been.
P.S. Persona 5's story is akin to a fucking loser boyfriend or girlfriend talking about their "dark side" in public, shit is just lame. The fact that grown adults treat the game like its the greatest piece of modern fiction ever made is embarassing. The fact that i did the same as a 17 year old is even more embarassing.

If anything, dont take this personal man, not trying to play devil's advocate but i find more cringy whenever someone says persona 5 is a kids game. Sounds like something a 16 year old would say: "oh im too grown up for this, this is for kids and im not a kid anymore". Im gonna call myself out because i kinda went through the same thing myself. Back when p5 released i was around the age of 16-17 and yeah, i loved it. I replayed it a year ago when i was 20 and felt kinda the same but after looking back at it now at my 21 years of age, i can see that, despite the "adult bad" thing being a little bit cringy, p5 gives you context as to why the thieves think that way and highlights a big issue barely anyone brings up. A lot of times, teenagers get taken advantage of and manipulated and at least i feel like one of the reasons said thing happens so much is because we as adults/young adults sure love to look down upon teenagers for the sake of "ugh teenagers" and its the main issue persona 5 focuses on. Joker got incriminated for something he didnt commit and people refused to listen to him because "ugh, young brat". Both Ryuji and Ann were taken advantage of by the same teacher, the school knew about it and refused to listen to student complaints because of kamoshida's status and both of them were lookd down upon because who they were. Futaba was manipulated as a kid to believe she was responsable for her mom's death. Makoto was manipulated into believing she should be as perfect as her sister. With Yusuke, Madarame took advantage of him because he knew Yusuke wouldnt fight back because Madarame took him in as a kid. With Haru, her father took advantage of her nobility to decide what her life would be in the future. Theres a pattern here of adults taking advantage of young people's lack of experience in life and its something that happens in real life that doesnt get talked about much.

I only bought Catherine Full Body to see if the wild claims people were making about it were true, (spoiler alert: they were grossly wrong). I actually originally had zero interest in the game because it seemed exactly as you described it in the beginning. However I too was blown away by the gameplay and the story. I was also surprised about the first ending I got which was Catherine Good ending. However sitting down and thinking about it, it really does reflect who I get along with.
Good ending, simply dad played Catherine and now wants world peace (and sex).
Yo, I remember watching this years ago... I was far too young to understand any of it, or even remember its name. Honestly, I've been trying to find the TH-camr I watched play it years ago, and I'd appreciate it if anyone here could help me. So, obviously they played this game, but I also remember them having played Ib. I think they played TF2 once as well, think they had a deadringer as spy, but that's all I remember there. They also played Minecraft, I think they had a waldo skin, and may have gotten an animation done (something involving pumpkin pie?). Apologies if this is too vague to go off of, but this video just sparked my memory of... whoever they were.
Speaking of the video, it's great. Honestly, I may go get the game myself and play it (especially since I'll have a better grasp on what's going on now).
