The point was, that even if it was a "shitpost" that you featured in those screenshots, there are people that genuinely say stuff that the William dude would say, making the fanbase just look dumb. Even then, you say these are cherry picked instances and you focus on the more popular things the fanbase says. I fucking hate those messages at the beginning of games, it makes me lose all immersion I could've had. So much so that I modded my Persona 5 to remove that entirely because it pisses me off
I wish I could go back in time and grab one for cheap, right when it was slated as a failure of a console but before it was pulled off shelves. There are actually some pretty good RPGs on there, but like hell am I going to pay 250 bucks for a used handheld, before then paying another 200 bucks for all the games I'd wanna play that're going on 8+ years old.
Since you and I are a Nintendo fans (judging by the Kirby pfp) I feel we can both definitely say that this rings true in most cases. Like I don’t think many Nintendo fans play on any other games.
pretty much. specifically in persona the loud fans made my experience worse with the game ,so I just stopped the flow of hate ,negativity and circle jerk to my mind with just stop seeing it and I have much better experience on a side note nowaday the strats nerd is like the only part of the fandom I recommend ,they are pretty cool props to them
You’re totally right about that. In my experience it’s because people on both sides are idiots. Broadly speaking of course. I remember back in the day when I still used social media seeing a post from Atlus USA with a cardboard cutout of Teddie from P4. It was an innocuous post, but there were tons of SMT fanboys bitching, “Why isn’t it Jack Frost,” “You don’t care about SMT,” “This is proof they don’t care about the franchise,” blah blah blah. There’s a lot of SMT gatekeeping with little justification. “You like Persona? Then fuck you. Play a real MegaTen game.” As if that helps their cause. On the Persona side, you have the morons who sent death threats to John Hardin of Atlus USA over the voice acting and translation of P5, and the people who unironically commented on the trailer for SMT IV that “Those designs (for the demons) are stolen from Persona!” Not to mention the plethora of ignorance from people shown in this video on the Persona side. I generally like to just play the games and keep to myself, besides friends who also happen to like them. The online communities on both sides are atrocious. Personally, I started with P4 and then played all the MegaTen games, Persona or otherwise, that I could. Never found one I even dislike. It’s genuinely my favorite game series and it’s depressing as hell that the fans are all so toxic.
I like to believe that some are only into Persona purely for the story. Persona did attract a lot of visual novel fans, so you'd expect that they would not care about the gameplay from SMT.
@@TheTj334 That was definitely me originally, I went into P5 expecting a pretty decent story with decent visuals and a great story, mixed in with boring Pokemon combat. Then I got hit with the most stylish thing mankind ever made, and a surprisingly fun combat system. And while I didn't notice or care in my first playthrough, P5's story is definitely style over substance, which I'm fine with.
Because they are different. And those differences drive the SMT crowd to despair. SMT IV was a downgrade from nocturne visually and who knows when SMT V will even happen. Atlus use to produce a whole plethora of SMT games Persona being just one of. Take digital devil saga for example. Those games are replaced with persona 'dancing games' and 'beatem ups' and re-releases. Atlus (bare in mind Atlus did not make it) promised a SMT X Fire emblem game and instead delivered Persona with fire emblem cosplay. I enjoy persona 5 i think it's the best Jrpg in years and continues to be so. Persona is to SMT that Fire emblem three houses is to fire emblem. Some people really don't like spending so much time out of combat/dungeon crawling.
@Okuyasu Nijimura i am not buying that game because it is not out on my market i have money set aside for it and IMHO if it doesn't have a global launch it should not be used as a metric for determining if there is a fan base for it

You can get Persona 2 Eternal Punishment for 10 dollars. I know the Vita wasnt super popular but any fans of the persona series should definitely consider buying one.

I bought a Vita at the end of last year to play Persona 1-4 after beating P5. 5 games from a series I'm interested in plus some other old PS1 and PSP games seemed like a worthwhile reason to purchase the handheld to me. I even managed to get P4G on sale for about $7.

Half the fanbase of P5 haven't actually played P5, you can tell from just how they speak. Keep in mind, I'd put this game in my top 10 any day but damn it shows. The level of demand for P5 to be on Switch is annoying, just cause Joker is in Smash.

I like persona 5 but everything you said is 100% correct, especially your criticisms of the writing. I love the social link mechanic of the persona games but the writing is only meh in 5, the style compensates for it and hides it but so many of the themes are so 2D compared to p3/4 (haven’t played 1/2) and especially compared to other smt games.
Yup, Persona 5 completely dropped the ball on its writing especially in the main plot. Even compared to the other neo-sona games. Persona 3 was about the inevitability of death and mortality but still wanting to move forward with life regardless. Persona 4 was about the shadow that everyone hides inside themselves, the personality that we don't show to others and the "mask" that we wear around other people. Persona 5's story is... adults bad?
@@kyrusxi I think youre my overexaggerating, P5 isn't just adults bad, it's about freedom and carving your own path in society, being yourself pretty much, that's how I see it
@@kostasspirou1010 But that message is undercut by the simple fact they aren't adults, they haven't felt the crushing reality of adulthood. What path can they create when they haven't truly had to make a living? It's overly idealistic to the point of being unrealistic.
It’s pretty annoying to know that they have a gold mine of untranslated japan exclusive retro games just waiting to be “discovered”. I mean, I would gladly pay for a remaster of the original devil summoner, just because of how stylish the box art looks, instead they want to shit out an endless stream of persona spin offs, and rereleases until the end of times
To be fair games like SMT if and the Original Devil Summoner are actually persona 3 levels of bad and dated. We’re not losing much with them not being around.
Simply Dad I get that they are dated and clumsy, but not necessarily bad, and comparing the issues to P3 doesn’t make much sense, since it improved a lot of the aspects that it shares with those games. But just because they were clumsy and worse than the more some of the modern ones doesn’t mean that they aren’t still good games, or that a remaster or just a rerelease wouldn’t be doing too much, since they could introduce fans to the roots of the franchises
@@SimplyDad Still man, it's megaten and the games overall are all good, including P3. The only smt game I played that made me think "**** this shit" was Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei in some freaking annoying dungeons while dropping levels, because apparently some demons did that back in the day, and some parts look more like an horror story then a dungeon. But yeah, every Megaten game I know is worth it, what am I gonna play? Animal Crossing? It's also good, but come on, give me some of that old SMT if action...
Because Atlus doesn't care much about SMT. (Including 1 and 2) Just look at the dancing games: Persona 3 came out in like, what 2007 and they still milk it. Persona brings them the most money and I understand that, but if they just focus on remaking other games like Nocturne, P1, and P2, etc they'd make a lot of money.
Compare Persona fans begging for Switch ports with the Yakuza/RGG fanbase’s responde to an interest survey. It was a concentrated push from fans on the survey showing their genuine love and interest in the series that actually caught SEGA JPN’s eye and got us multiple games ported over when Yakuza was struggling in its introduction! The localization team and the actual Yakuza devs THEMSELVES attributed the revival of the franchise towards the fun memes shared like “alone on Friday night? just remember these Yakuza”. It was all done for a love of the series without obsession or annoyance, and it actually got the older, less accessible games to get entire REMAKES with bonus content and polished gameplay/cutscenes. You can meme a franchise back to life, just don’t harass developers, don’t force things from others, and instead perpetuate a fun love for what you want to see cultivated.
It sucks how like 80% of the community either didn't even play the game or only like the game because of the "waifus". I played the game and it deserves to be noticed for its story and more important things rather than the stupid waifu stuff etc. I love persona 5 put the fanbase ruins the game. It puts such a bad impression on it and I hate it. People aren't seeing persona 5 for what it really is.
Same with every rockstar games every. gta and bully have some of great story's but then you got the fact R* never gives dlc and the community never pay attention to the story. Gta sa is great story but it's the cheats gameplay and people who never played them are what get the light of day.

Another factor is they put up a facade, (or a persona if you will), to seem like they really care about the other games but really it's just Persona 3, 4, and 5. Lastly, they also did participate in calling for "fans" to port beg Persona 5 on another system through a Japanese survey. People automatically assume he's an elitist simply because he has a big account, but in reality he tries his hardest to make the community as wholesome as possible.
To be fair, the social aspect of the third one was implemented the best and made more sense, since it was about how connections with people can help you discover who you are as a person, and it shows you how people deal with grief and apathy (the themes of the game). The contrast between the grim dark setting of the Dark Hour and the relaxed happy times in the day. It was better written overall.
I disagree it was better written overall (and I started with P3). The characters, especially in the first half or so, barely have any qualities that differentiate them from one another. They all react basically the same to situations save maybe Junpei and Hikari (although in Hikari's case, she just *personally* annoyed me). They basically go through the motions of the plot. The latter parts of the game get better, we see their motivations at least even if they are all still very serious and lacking in personality. i think that is my biggest gripe: that lack of personality. They are all a very similar archetype with just different backstories. A game can be dark without every character on the edge of brooding. This is why I heavily disagree with the first couple of minutes of this video. I personally have never known people to all be very serious and edgy, I used to hang out with a very colorful and diverse group of people and so the casts and themes of the latter two games feel much more genuine. Relatability is personal. Just because he cannot relate does not mean others do not.

I think the man in the video’s point was that these characters issues aren’t actually explored and instead are just used as a way to pretend to be mature.
I'll be honest, I really like Persona 5 (my personal favorite JRPG of this console generation) but I genuinely think when it comes to the cast and story, it's weak compared to Persona 3. Also the people begging for Persona 5 on Switch are annoying as hell. I mean Shin Megami Tensei 5 is gonna happen at some point and I really want news on that game.
StaticShock42 I think the issue is the Smash Bros folks who probably only got exposed to Persona 5 due to it, and well, the Smash fanbase is another whole cesspool or can or worms (to say without being rude). And of course there's the fact that in general most Persona fans nowadays don't even know Shin Megami Tensei even exists, so from our perspective the begging for P5 is worse to us.
Honestly my opinion they took the lesser of two evils from both Persona 3 and 4, with Persona 3 mixed bag of characters and Persona 4 predictable story and decide to say "you know what let's put this into a video game and see what happens with pretty graphics" Although the predictable story and mixed bag of characters doesn't make it a bad game, at times the story will be strong and also the characters but at the end of times you'll feel like there's a very weak links compared to Persona 4 very strong characters and Persona 3 very strong story
@@philipboes1100 I've always said this about Persona 3, 4 and 5. 3 has the best story, 4 has the best cast, and 5 has the best gameplay and dungeon design. Music I love all 3 equally.

it’s my favourite game in the series. it’s characters, story and gameplay is very good but jesus fuck i wish i never played the game so i don’t have to be considered a part of the fanbase
The "toxic fanbase" argument is dumb as shit. Every game has a toxic fanbase, including Undertale (and that game whole thing was about positivity). It's dumb to use it in the first place. Also, critics of P5 and P5R have never touched the game for all the shit they give to others.
That’s fine if you like it. I like it too. But there’s also nothing wrong about being aware, told, or having a debate over its flaws. It’s not a perfect creation, after all. No creation is perfect, especially at the beginning, but they do develop and should develop to become the best version of themselves. When you become self-aware about your flaws, your creation’s flaws, or another creation’s flaws, then that’s the first step into making improvements on them and yourself.
I think quite a few of your thoughts are spot-on, but there are also some I disagree with. I particularly don’t think the argument that Persona 5 Scramble selling badly on Switch showcases a lack of interest for Persona among Switch fans. Scramble is set after the main game of P5, essentially making it a direct follow-up to the game. If you have not played P5, like people who only own a Switch, you are likely not going to want to start with the direct sequel/follow-up. If you have played P5, however, there’s a good likelyhood that you already own a PS4. Scramble is aimed at people who have already played P5, with a majority of them being PS4 owners. Essentially, the only ones who has a choice between the Switch or PS4 version of Scramble are likely people who already own both consoles. It’s a wonder that Scramble sold as well as it has on Switch given these circumstances. I also think you are painting an entire fanbase with broad strokes. Given that P5 is so new and so massively popular, it attracts many new obnoxious fans. However, as you’ve said yourself, they are a vocal minority, but the sheer number of these people make out most of the fanbase to be bad when it’s really only a segment of the entire group as a whole. Shin Megami Tensei is an older, more niche and dormant franchise, meaning that the fans who still stick with it despite its age are likely to have talked about everything and are likely to have a much smaller vocal minority of morons. Because of the smaller vocal minority, you see the fanbase as being cooler and more chill, which it is. The Persona 3-5 fans who are cool and chill exist as well, but they are being drowned out and associated with the moronic vocal minority that is incredibly large because the franchise is hitting a point of having a major influx of new fans. I think the reason that a majority of these new fans want P3-P5 ports but not the older games is because the older games are seen as being too radically different from the games that newer fans fell in love with. A lot of P3-P5 fans really like the social sim simulator parts of the games, and hearing that the older games don’t feature that could be a potential turn off. Like, fans of the Batman comic books might like the gritty and more serious tone of more modern comics and actively avoid Silver Age stories because it doesn’t feature the stuff they like. Atlus has also actively marketed P3-P5 in recent years, including the P3 and P4 characters in the newer fighting games and PQ+PQ2, keeping the characters from thise games relevant and active even now while the Pre-P3 characters have been almost left entirely in the dust, only having minor allusions to them in optional dialogue in P5. Atlus isn’t trying to market the first three games and refuses to give them good ports to modern consoles, so I don’t really blame the P3-P5 crowd for only saying they want ports of the newer games. And, I mean, if they won’t even rerelease the 2012 P4G to modern hardware, I don’t think anyone has any illusions that the three first games are going to be given a rerelease before they rerelease the modern three games first, so it seems futile to even call for the first three games to be released first. Even though I agree the older games defintely needs rereleases too.
@@Phantom-kc9ly Yeah, they can stand alone, but most people would probably still like to get introduced to the characters in their original game along with the original context. It's like saying that you can watch something like Avatar: The Legend of Korra before watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. In both them and with P5-P5S, he sequel spin-off is so entrenched and so heavily involved with the prequel that watching the sequel first can ruin twists and mysteries from the prequel. Even using google to look up things on the sequel can result in you inadvertently spoiling yourself, and thus people might be scared to look things up. Another example is something like Harry Potter. The Fantastic Beast movies are spin off prequels to the original 7 HP movies, but nobody would recommend you start with the Beast movies first as they aren't made to serve as an introduction to the world of Harry Potter. Sure, you could watch them first, but you would miss an incredible amount of context for how the world and magic works. You could pick up on context and try to figure things out stand-alone, or you might just feel it would be better off starting with the original HP movies. I like the games in the Persona franchise; granted I've haven't played Persona 1, 2 Innocent Sin, and 2 Eternal Punishment or even the the rest of the MegaTen games, but I like the games I've played and that's just my opinion. There's always a group of people who will keep asking the company to do this or do that, or even send them threats. For example, the recent death threats and harassment that Sakurai was experiencing because of Byleth being announced. Some people in a fanbase are legit toxic while other people in the same fanbase are just there to talk about the game and have fun. That's just my opinion on this matter. Edit: I'm currently getting into the Persona 2 Duology, and I like it so far!
I dont really like p2 because of the combat system, idk why but when the tutorial battle gives me an essay on how everything works i just cant read the entire essay and then dies at the first battle because i dont know how stuff works especially with fusion skills
Want: Smt 5, A new Trauma Center, Devil survivor 3, a new Raidou game, Project Re Fantasy. An actual p2 remake, and everything mentioned in 12:42 - 13:12 Get: Persona dancing
>an actual remake I'm not sure. I definitely don't trust modern Atlus with a P3 remake, but P2's gameplay is so bad that even they really might be able to improve it. I'd be very concerned about what other additions they'd make though.
idk about Devil Survivor 3. I don't know if the 3ds remake helped it but, uh... devil survivor 2 was, uh... not good. I don't know I would trust Atlus to do DeSu3.
Atlus has never confirmed nor deconfirmed that Persona is a PS exclusive. I mean you could practically say that they're trying to pull away from the Playstation exclusivity these days, with P5R and P4G being ported to PC, and P5S being on Switch and PC as well
@@CatManThree Such detail doesn't say much though, the game gets a switch release and suddenly he's playing with switch or a PC release and suddenly he has an İOS or Android phone.
@RageGetBest Thats not really entirely why persona 5 is popular though. The social sim mechanics actually play a bigger role in combat and dungeon exploration in p5 than in 3 or 4. The social sim mechanics also serve as downtime between focusing on combat in dungeons. There's also its music (amazing as always from SMT) and visual ascetic. If you were to say this maybe about persona 4 with it having little focus on combat and dungeon exploration, mostly a focus on its social sim elements instead, I'd kind of agree. However this is 5 we are talking about.

I’m gonna go and say that at the very minimum, P4 cast is technically more human than the Thieves. It really hurts coming from a guy who loves P2EP&P3 the most.
But that's because P4 it's about finding the truth, and fighting your dark side. P5 is more like "Muh, society is bad, let's kick these stupid adults asses". Also, P5 have many more villains, and all of them are generic. P4 has Adachi, and omg, that guy is an awesome villain, realistic and understandable.
The story in P4 was pretty lighthearted in the end of the day, and the game in general focused on that tone and the finding your own self part, while in P3 they focused more on the theme of death in a more doom and gloom tone, with tartarus being this world altering threat, which not only gave the threat in P3 a lot of weight, it also made both games pretty memorable and different, while P5 tried to have both the themes of finding your true self, and putting a lot of weight on the villains, which made both parts of the themes in the game pretty shallow
@@ratinholimpinho3285 exactly, also, P5 tries to talk a lot about justice and rebelion, but in my opinion it's a really one-sided one, I hope the game get a bit better with royal, gonna play the game because SMT and Persona are both my favorite franchise, but I don't have many expectations to be honest.
I think the problem is that none of the Phantom Thieves get much time to develop. Even in their own S. Links, you don't learn much about them. I think exclusives are fucking stupid and in a better world we wouldn't have to buy a wholly different expensive console just to play that one game we'd like to play from that console, but the problem won't be solved by whining to one specific company to put one specific game on one specific console
Speaking as a fan who got into the MegaTen franchise because of Persona 3 FES, I love (almost) all of the games. The reason is likely because I tend to stay away from fandoms (literally any fandom) as much as possible. Persona tends to tell their stories more about people who are still developing themselves and it lets some people have a relatively mature story at an easier to understand level. SMT tends to tell bigger, more overarching stories that don't have as much time for the characters to have that sense of self-discovery in them (I've not played Digital Devil Saga yet, but they seem closest to being opposed to this point). For the record, my favorite games being Personas 3, 2IS (still working on EP), and 5, as well as Devil Survivor and Nocturne. I also have played Persona 4, Devil Survivor 2, both of the Raidou Kuzunoha games, SMTIV and some of SMT Online: Imagine while it was still a thing. TLDR: Persona and SMT are both great but for different reasons. I love the MegaTen franchise and want more of it.
I told a dude I missed the mature, plot heavy games of P1 & 2 since I was getting into more mature and philosophical media. He told me along the lines of," I don't lol. P5 is better than both 1 &2. Cope and seethe loser lol". I think I won that argument if it was one.

The part about port beggers being toxic as shit was just straight up facts though, especially when the numbers tell a completely different story (i.e. the low sales for P5 Scramble on the Switch).
The easiest way to figure out if any P5 fans actually played the game is if they compare Anonymous to the Phantom Thieves. Unless you didn't play the game, you'd know that Anonymous IS (technically) one of the "enemies" you fight in the form of Medjed. Great video, dad, earned yourself a new sub.

Nintendo and Pokémon fans are unmatched when it comes to being trashy. Leave it to them to defend literally every awful design decision their company makes.
Funniest thing about the persona fandom is that they actually pushed me TOWARDS mainline by being so cringe and toxic. i started with 3 then 4 and by the time 5 was about to drop i had lost all interest and jumped into smt iv instead. which after playing p5, was a better use of my time tbh. I think 5 might be the most shallow jrpg i've played in a while

As someone who has enjoyed Overwatch, Steven Universe, Rick and Morty, etc. let me tell ya... the "fanbase" you see on Twitter is not worth your time. Twitter is the absolute worst place to look for a representation of a fanbase, the people there are usually just trying to find something to complain about under some kind of mob mentality. Do I think the reaction on Twitter is obnoxious and overblown? Yes. I still, however, would be happy if P5 was on Switch. Also, not that I'm against the idea, but saying they should port the older games instead of porting P5 is pretty absurd. The older games can be played pretty easily through emulation, either on your phone or on PC. That's not the case however with P5. Not only that, but P5 has been their most financially successful game to date... why would they not prioritize that over older, more niche titles? Regardless, I would be happy with ANY ports to ANY platform, because at the end of the day I just want these great games to be enjoyed by as many people as possible.

I’m just glad to finally see someone call out this “break free persona” movement online. Every time Atlus posts something the first comment is always “yeah cool but how about P5 on switch”. For example when they announced Catherine on switch literally every comment was asking for P5 instead. Mainline Persona games have always been a PlayStation exclusive and will most likely remain an exclusive series for the PS consoles. If you want to support Atlus they have plenty of other amazing games that ARE exclusive for Nintendo consoles.
I just dont like the exclusivity nonsense. smt v should be on ps4 and p5 should be on switch. It would actually be pretty cool if they do a full body with p5r and release it on switch in a year with all dlc (its the only way I'm gonna buy p5r lol) the persona and smt teams aren't the same so idk why ppl are acting like porting p5r would halt progress on smt v or something But yea there are a lot of fans who act like atlus is doing fuck all with Nintendo consoles when the best mainline game smt 4 is a Nintendo exclusive (still can't decide if i like nocturne more lol) and smt 5 and stuff. I honestly think a full hd mainline game after the release of persona 5 with full effort into it is gonna change a lot between the megami tensei fans and the ppl who have only played (or watched) p5 and a lot of people are gonna get into mainline from it. I think a good amount of ppl don't wanna play iv or iva cuz they see them as inferior due to being on the 3ds and nocturne is too outdated and doesnt hold up. but when smt v releases its gonna be the shiny new game and that point p5 will be like half a decade old.
Yeah I have no idea why Atlus would make their two most popular franchises on separate consoles lmao The fans that act like that honestly confuse me. They say that they don’t want to play the 3DS SMT games because they’re outdated but they’re also the ones asking for ports of P3 and P4. I love Persona 3 but the battle system for it is so outdated (Sure, they could do a port for P3P for the improved battle mechanics but then that version reduces the game to a visual novel. Then there’s the whole issue with the femc lmao) As for a P5R port, the Persona team is most likely working on the next P5 spin-off but if Scramble was on switch then I don’t see why the next spinoff wouldn’t be on it as well? Yeah it wouldn’t be mainline but it’s better than nothing. Plus there is always SMT V to look forward to if Atlus ever decides to actually give us some more news... Honestly if Atlus was going to port any games to the switch I think the SMT franchise deserves it more than Persona. The franchise never got proper treatment outside of Japan and I’m sure a lot of people would be interested in a collection. I would actually buy a switch if it meant I could play every SMT game on the one console
While I do think the trend is a bit much, I wouldn’t call this people “fake fans” of P5 because many of them don’t have PlayStations. Which is why they want it on the switch to experience the game and have the opportunity to become a true fan of Persona and may start buying the spinoffs or SMT games. That’s the reason why I haven’t bought any of this games, I only have Xbox one and Switch, so I can’t any of this games. At least until SMTV releases in 2040.
Biggest Fan I think the problem is PS4 fanboys have this lower class view of the Switch for some strange reason. However, PS4 fans review bombing Astral Chain, and now Animal Crossing, isn't really much different from toxic Persona 5 fans demanding a port to the Switch. Both sides are acting like spoiled children, but both fanbases also have great people, capable of acting like actual adults as well. I'm personally a Switch fan myself, as that's more my style, but I love the Persona series, and am now getting into the mainline SMT games.
@@theblindtechguy I mean yeah, for example just look at the fact that, while they're much rarer than the Persona ones, there are some decently toxic SMT V port beggars complaining about the fact that the game will not be on the PS4/5
I really enjoy the story and when I call myself a fan of something I usually refer to the story because I cant play a game without a good one and as a broke teenager who cant get a job because of the virus its kinda closed minded not to see why people may want ports as in they cant afford said console.
The fact that there's such a hard divide between the persona and smt fans is cringe alone. I personally just want the dungeon crawling elements. I found myself skipping most of the dialogue in P4 and 5 to just play in the dungeons or mementos.
P4's dialogue and characters (at least in the vanilla version) were at least less vomit-inducing than P5/P5R's cookie cutter anime trope characters. I finished vanilla P5 on the PS3 and am slogging through P5R right now, I can't stand the way most of these characters behave most of the time. Playing Ghost of Tsushima and Witcher 3 along alongside P5R really shows how much of a joke the game is overall in terms of character and writing.
@General Jiggler You know.. I can't (completely) disagree with you there. Though with P3 at least they still had some semblance of being relatable human beings in the manner they behaved. P4 was treading the line, P4 Golden went completely down the anime route, then P5 / P5R just went downhill even further. I fear for the future of Persona if P5 and P5R are anything to go by in terms of the direction they're taking.
@@KamenRider1 out of those three P3 has the most realistic characters while P5 (i cant comment on P4/P4G because i havent played it yet) i just cant really relate to them maybe only one or two characters and oh my god Kasumi kinda pissed me off

NiLink NoLa The Japanese CERO ratings are suspended at the time of this comment because of the demonetized (hey that sounds like demon, and this is a series about demons ha), so even if they are at a decent point in development, we still won't see anything until next year. Yeah this sucks.
As a mainline Shin Megami Tensei fan, I love Persona 1, 2, 3 & 4...However I really have a grudge towards Persona 5 and really it's annoying fans are particularly the reason (plus the fact I find the game overrated, even among other Persona games) What I appreciate about Shin Megami Tensei is a multitude of things. It's messages are more complex and speak on more fundamental topics than Persona can even muster to talk about. I respect Persona and it's atmosphere, but it won't come close to what SMT presents (if you ask me)
not helping by being this way lmfao sitting on top of some high horse just because you prefer X over Y is exactly why we get called elitist for liking SMT to begin with. (Which this video seemingly fails to acknowledge is also a problem within the smt / persona discourse, because of course not. that wouldnt really fit the narrative of victimizing SMT fans, would it? Both sides should be held accountable😒) saying things like "X could never come close to Y" is just so condescending and obnoxious. Then we sit back and wonder why neoPersona fans have a hard time getting into mainline games yet we say shit like this lmfao
@@justsomeguy727 "High Horse" >Praises Persona 1-4 and even acknowledges it's good in it's own right Legit shut up because nobody asked you, I was giving my opinion and not remotely treating SMT as objectively better than Persona. You must be one of those salty Persona 5 fanatics because literally no other reason would you have to respond to my comment in such a manner to where it comes off as salty Additionally, there is no narrative that's being twisted, that genuinely just is the case. SMT fans as a whole have been screwed by Atlus in favor of Atlus milking Persona and you act like that doesn't strike a nerve when for the longest, SMT has been the series that kept Atlus afloat and they don't even give it just as much respect as Persona. Again, this isn't about narratives, look at the facts, Atlus cares more about a side series than the mainline and reasonably speaking, SMT fans are a bit annoyed

Bro why even is there a divide between Persona and Smt? Both series are 🔥
You’re totally right about that.
Subhumans on both sides

Someone who ACTUALLY played the game! Huzzah

@@SimplyDad too bad P3 isnt a bad game nor a bad game by Atlus standards.

TL;DR Phan-Site shills too much.
P3 is probably the best persona game. I have a soft spot for 4, but the story and gameplay is just so nice!
@Bx Dx Bro ikr I never though I’d see the day
What about themes like: Rape, suicide, plagiarism, blackmail, depression, and police brutality
None of the persona spin offs ever depend on knowledge of the original games. They are standalone. The only exception is Adachi being in Ultimax.
And if you reply with, "Well they wont know that" then they werent that interested in the first place because google is amazing.
@@Phantom-kc9ly Yeah, they can stand alone, but most people would probably still like to get introduced to the characters in their original game along with the original context.
Persona 5 and its spin-offs really don't work very differently.

Yeah, on the subject of the Persona PSP OST, i think the bigger issue is that the original soundtrack was about 90 tracks (by 3 composers), and the PSP version is only about 35, so tons of track got cut and had no replacement at all.
I think most people will say the psp soundtrack is good but just doesn’t fit for P1 although I do hear the remixed soundtrack for P2 is just better.
The problem in the remake aren't the songs themselves, but the fact that they are not fitting the game.
I'm one of those people who played the newer Persona games and never really bothered to look into the older ones, but I can still recognise that they're good games that mean a lot to a lot of people.

Etrian Odyssey on 3ds, it's the definitive way to play those games. Great soundtracks, fun gameplay.

I just dont like the exclusivity nonsense. smt v should be on ps4 and p5 should be on switch. It would actually be pretty cool if they do a full body with p5r and release it on switch in a year with all dlc (its the only way I'm gonna buy p5r lol) the persona and smt teams aren't the same so idk why ppl are acting like porting p5r would halt progress on smt v or something
But yea there are a lot of fans who act like atlus is doing fuck all with Nintendo consoles when the best mainline game smt 4 is a Nintendo exclusive (still can't decide if i like nocturne more lol) and smt 5 and stuff.
Yeah I have no idea why Atlus would make their two most popular franchises on separate consoles lmao
The fans that act like that honestly confuse me. Then there’s the whole issue with the femc lmao)
As for a P5R port, the Persona team is most likely working on the next P5 spin-off but if Scramble was on switch then I don’t see why the next spinoff wouldn’t be on it as well? Yeah it wouldn’t be mainline but it’s better than nothing. Plus there is always SMT V to look forward to if Atlus ever decides to actually give us some more news...
Honestly if Atlus was going to port any games to the switch I think the SMT franchise deserves it more than Persona. The franchise never got proper treatment outside of Japan and I’m sure a lot of people would be interested in a collection. I would actually buy a switch if it meant I could play every SMT game on the one console
@@jessicaswann4956 probably because sony paid good money for persona exclusivity
At least until SMTV releases in 2040.
same
Biggest Fan I think the problem is PS4 fanboys have this lower class view of the Switch for some strange reason.
Exacly
I really enjoy the story and when I call myself a fan of something I usually refer to the story because I cant play a game without a good one and as a broke teenager who cant get a job because of the virus its kinda closed minded not to see why people may want ports as in they cant afford said console.
video get switch port ?
Confirmed
Even I, a person who loves this game, can admit Haru needs screentime and more character
Fax. They ruined her screentime by adding that fake ass Morgana filler and shoe horned Kasumi in P5R. fucking incredibly lol
@@TheEmperorRaidou Yeah, I do really like Morgana but he is REALLY annoying in the Okumura arch
He even took Haru's entire arch.
@General Jiggler
You know..
@@KamenRider1 out of those three P3 has the most realistic characters while P5 (i cant comment on P4/P4G because i havent played it yet) i just cant really relate to them maybe only one or two characters and oh my god Kasumi kinda pissed me off
Haha Persona 5 for the Switch.
Imagine Shin Megami Tensei V being confirmed for the Swi... oh, right. SMT V was going to come out for the Switch. Unlucky
Smt v might come on the next nintendo console at this point.
@@avengedlol6698 It's just in developement hell much like P5 was itself as he pointed out in the video.

The Japanese CERO ratings are suspended at the time of this comment because of the demonetized (hey that sounds like demon, and this is a series about demons ha), so even if they are at a decent point in development, we still won't see anything until next year.
Yeah this sucks.
@@JackFrostAegirine wasnt it only supposed to be suspended for like a month though? I could've swore I read that somewhere
I really would like to try a modern day smt, see if it lives up to how much its fans hype it up
As a mainline Shin Megami Tensei fan, I love Persona 1, 2, 3 & 4...However I really have a grudge towards Persona 5 and really it's annoying fans are particularly the reason (plus the fact I find the game overrated, even among other Persona games)
What I appreciate about Shin Megami Tensei is a multitude of things.
@@justsomeguy727
"High Horse"
>Praises Persona 1-4 and even acknowledges it's good in it's own right
Legit shut up because nobody asked you, I was giving my opinion and not remotely treating SMT as objectively better than Persona. You must be one of those salty Persona 5 fanatics because literally no other reason would you have to respond to my comment in such a manner to where it comes off as salty
Additionally, there is no narrative that's being twisted, that genuinely just is the case.
I don't like Persona 5's fans, in fact I kept myself unaware of their existence due to knowing how mainstream Persona 5 is, when I found out how stupid they were, it made me grateful I had ignored them.
It's a shame you're wrong
