26:54 There is a designated posture-damaging counter to grabs: the umbrella. It's cheap, easy, and useful, especially with a Projected Force followup. However the game doesn't tell you about it lol
And to this day, I had no idea why gameplay clips kept showing the umbrella being used against grabs, I just thought it was a style thing or never connected it to the grab itself!
Dude, I have no idea how you're producing this much quality content this quickly. And then I saw how small your channel is, you've got great vids man, your channel is definitely gonna blow up.
Just returned to it after playing Nioh 2 and Nier: Automata and I loved both of those games, but honestly....I just don't want to play anything other than Sekiro lol
Sekiro is the best game FS has ever made IMO. The combat is so incredbily refined that it still blows my mind how perfect it is. The game itself has many flaws, but I think it's the best experience from beginning to end that FS has to offer.
Between Sekiro and Bloodborne, they’ve basically ruined all other games for me. Everything else is just so boring. It’s just wandering around and pressing the “delete enemy” button. I’ve been playing for years, and still only feel like I’m just beginning to get respectable at Bloodborne. And Sekiro makes me feel like I’m only just beginning to understand its concepts. Playing other games feels like I’m wasting time that I could have been practicing my skills in the only games worth playing. And now I’m hearing that Lies Of P is basically a perfect mix of Sekiro and Bloodborne with an amazing art style. I can’t wait to dig into that.
Easily the best, Sekiro is so so so amazing. I have such a strong attachment to this game and its world and characters. Bloodborne on the other hand..idk I played it immediately after Sekiro and I hated it. The story and everything is great but the combat felt more janky than DS1 to me. Idk if Sekiro just being so good kinda made me biased over what I played next or what but BB just felt bad to play. Too fast to be methodical and tactical feeling like DS1 and too slow to really flow smoothly and feel impactful like Sekiro.
Sekiro is easily the best game of all time for me. Nothing else, not even Bloodborne, can come close to Sekiro as far as combat is concerned. Bloodborne is my favorite game as far as art, level design, lore and music goes, but Sekiro is far above Bloodborne because of how damn near perfect the swordplay is. The only non-FromSoft game that I’ve found to even come close is Hollow Knight, with it’s surprisingly complex combat, level design, and lore, and don’t even get me started on the music.
@@bungalowfeuhler1541ironically, Kingdom Hearts 3 on critical can hold its own among some of the better FromSoft games. Sekiro blows everything aside from Bloodborne and Elden Ring out of the water though. I really want a sequel
Finally found the time to watch this one, and as someone who hasn’t played the game, and just never could get into the story from lore videos, this was a very interesting look at how it really still does stand alone in fromsoft’s repertoire. Great stuff as always!
This is easily my favorite game. Even months and months later, after playing it, I still think about it. I also always feel like playing through it, which says a lot because I'm one of those one and done people.
After my first playthrough, I had similar thoughts; the game had been incredible, but its difficulty made it feel less replayable. When I finally did replay it, I was happy to discover that it was significantly easier. I would go significant stretches of the game without dying. I'm currently on my 3rd playthrough, and it has cemented it as one of my favorite From games without question.
Just wanted to commend you on your ability to edit your videos in a way that illicits emotion from the viewer. The two stand out moments for me were the cut from the Demon of Hatred to the Sculptor quietly crafting another Buddha statue, and at the end of the video with the montage of boss deathblows throughout the game. Adds a lot to the storytelling. So very well done! Only recently discovered your channel and looking forward to seeing more :)
As a soulsborne veteran I found this game soooo frustrating. I quit it 3x, I just couldn't break the habit of trying to play it like I would a souls game. Then I set myself a goal that I would beat it, I wouldn't give it up. I spent 10 straight hours throwing myself at Ashina Seven Spears because up to that point, you could eek by without knowing how to use the games systems, and I didn't wanna use the free deathblow. When I finally beat that man, I yelled at the TV like he was actual person that I put down outta pure hatred. But throughout those attempts I'd mastered the mikiri counter, learned how to use the prosthetic and combo it into attacks, and most importantly to stay aggressive and on the attack. And the game became so much easier once I got it. And now this is my favorite Fromsoft game to play. Guardian Ape is prolly my favorite boss to fight in the game, just due to the spectacle of it. But Isshin Sword Saint to me is right up there with Lady Maria, Ludwig, Slave Knight Gael, O&S as some of not the best boss fights in gaming. I love every second of this game on repeat playthroughs.
Yeah man, I also had an absolutely brutal time with this game at first. I'm more than decent at it now, but honestly, it took about 5 playthroughs for me to get to that point lol. Sekiro's just a damn hard game.
I love Sekiro, it is my second favorite soulsborne game by From Software and a couple of years ago I did deathless playthrough doing the purification and it took many tries to do so but was so gratifying when I completed it. Also, I am surprised this game never got a story dlc but at least they added a boss rush mode which is fun and is good for practice if you want to do a deathless run.
Agreed re: Ishin - one of my favourite characters in a Video Game. Edit re: Demon of Hatred. Great story significance so it gets a plus there. Also it isn't a totally left-field type of boss; rather it's ultimate version of the "beast" boss types (ogres, bulls, and apes).
Great video, love me some long, winding video essay - Also 1:07:52 I had no idea that was Tomoe, where did you get the info as I seen a bunch of lore vids calling her a random shrine maiden or such?
Sekiro Has The Best Combat System, of Any FromSoftware Game, And This Is Coming From Some Nobody, Where Bloodborne Is His All Time Favourite FromSoftware Title.
Bloodstain system could not be in Sekiro. It's too easy bypass enemies with the movement. They did it right, you're supposed to either run if you feel like you're losing after the resurrection or spend your money before a difficult fight. It's not like money or exp even matters all that much, compared to other souls games. Personally I would just remove unseen aid and dragonrot.
This is the one game above all others that i wish i was better at😢😅😅. I love the anesthetic and atmosphere. The setting of the world is beautiful. The enemy and monster designs are intriguing. Plus the game just looks and feels fun as hell. Ive tried multiple times just cant get past the fist couple of bosses😂. I put hundreds of hours into Ghost of Tsushima just because it was far easier but simalr in alot of aspects to Sikro.
Ah, I get ya man. Sekiro is one of the few games that I've genuinely felt was a bit too difficult, especially at the start when you have so little health and so few heals!
I’ve played a lot of the souls games and a lot of the souls likes and about a year ago I tried sekiro and I loved it, super fun besides a few things. But let me tell you, I was walking through that game pretty easily ciz like I said I’m used to souls games but I gave up on the guardian ape fight. The beast fights in sekiro are by far the worst parts. I picked up ghost of tushima cuz I was in a samurai mood after my like 100th attempt at the ape and I haven’t picked it up since
I remember beating it after it released and being like “eh it was aight but no dark souls” but then i decided to try it again later on and the combat finally clicked and hoo boy. I ended up going on to beat the game a few times in a row to 100% it. Then the gauntlets came out and I had to go complete those. And now I have to say, Sekiro is the best fromsoft game, and inner ishin, and inner father are the best bosses in the series
Ah, I will do the Nioh games, but not sure when. Probs later on in the year. And yep, I used the track "Mysterious" from Nioh for the intro on this vid. I've used that track on a bunch of my vids actually cos I've always found it to be a damn nice listen.
I absolutely loved the Japanese dialog in this game. I heard so much of it that I started recognizing a few words and learning correct pronunciation. It really makes me wish I was capable of learning to speak Japanese.
Always appreciate retrospectives on these great games! I know a ton of work and passion go into these. My recommendation is to not lean into the accent. Rolling Rs and long vowels sound super cool and unique in the short term, but may make it difficult to really listen to what you are trying to say. Have the accent lean more generic, it will still sound unique and great I feel like you want to lessen the brainpower for someone to translate to their own thoughts. And this would def be applicable to people who's english isn't as strong. This is just one totally random opinion, though :) keep it up!
Thank you for your compliment on the video, but I do not thank you for your comments about my voice. This isn't me leaning into "the accent". This is how I speak based on where was born. That you think it's within the realms of acceptability to causally suggest that I change my accent is ridiculous. Furthermore, of the near 60,000 views I've had on my videos thus far, you're the literally only one whose opted to criticize me for my natural accent, so maybe this is a you problem. Don't bother watching any more of my stuff.
@@candletype1a447 I think you got me wrong. Only praise for you here Like I said, I think your voice is great, your accent as well. You should be proud of it and where you hail from.
