There is a lot of good content here. Just started uploading and I know getting noticed is a process. The best part is the improvement you see with each video and learning from past mistakes
This is my favorite video of yours to date. I've been thinking the last few months about the direction I want to take my channel and what would I want my videos to be about. Well, I think I found it a few weeks ago when I decided to start aim training to get absolutely cracked at fps games. I love them, I want to be better at them, and I've realized aim training is really fun and rewarding as well. It all seems like it's starting to come together for me. I'm still not a good creator yet as I don't have things mastered and figured out, especially with this new niche, but this video really helped solidify a lot of my thoughts. Much appreciated Eljay. You're the best
Love your content...you literally practice what you preach and tell it like it is. I haven't started my CC journey yet; but when I do, I'm grateful to have learned from your videos. That's going to keep me in check and focused. Having access to this knowledge is a million times better than fumbling around the CC space with only a trial-&-error approach.
I really appreciate your help, your hint&tips are clear and gave me something to try and test. I have a very small TH-cam channel and same for Twitch, but I like to work on these platform and improve is part of the fun. I'm italian so it's my content, and while I understand language barrier can be an issue, you helped me to understand and focus on what I can (and should) do better to offer a good content and grow. So well, thanks mate! :)
Thank you so much I am starting a new channel this weekend and now I am able to look at what I need to do for titles and thumbnails. I understand what to do. Thanks for the content😁
I started streaming on TH-cam in late December of 2023. Your videos and your channel are the ones I return to again and again. You are amazing. In how you present the information as well as the information itself. I have recommended you to several others as well. Just keep feeding us and we will keep returning. You are just so genuine and it shines through. Thank you for this video. I absolutely needed it.
HEARING THAT I SHOULD REMOVE MY EGO from my Thumbnail, was THE MOST helpful thing to hear, THANK YOU, I am constantly trying to put my face in EVERY video, then it changed to trying to show me emotion as the highlight, my thought, you see me stress & worry (I do Horror Game Content) then you will want to watch. BUT I went to look at so many other content creators that are HUGE, and even they don't put their face in there. Also knowing what you should cut out and what you shouldn't cut out can make the difference between a good video and an okay video. Hearing the A-G method and think if a section isn't relevant later, why leave it., was extremely helpful and really good insight/analogy, thank you for the video!
I know #6 is probably the one I struggle with the most, next to thumbnail / title choice, because I tend to create videos out of a stream of consciousness, and if I am lacking creativity, whether thats for script writing, editing, jokes, ideas, etc, then I really struggle with forcing ideas. Ive tried doing something similar while writing music and it lead me to burnout very fast, but I also recognize its a barrier that needs to be crossed in order to be consistent with uploads. To add to that, I have my primary videos, and a secondary series I launched a few weeks back which I considered starting a new channel for, its not a huge departure from my main content but given it takes less time to assemble and at risk of flooding my channel, I decided to rotate the uploads to keep a balance, but ive been second guessing this decision since creating that series.
once again (watching one of your videos) I have so many ideas the new channel I've just started! and also going to definitely take your advice on the videos I upload on my channel from now on. I have so many videos that are so different from each other, thank you for another amazing video man.

I started youtube earlier ths year and I made so many mistakes its incredible but since I started uploading every week I feel better about my content and its quality. Yet I know I still have a long way to go and a lot of things to improve. But as you said its better to post 52 videos a year improving a little on each than posting 3 cutting it to your own "perfection".
Hey, I have a question I've scheduled 2 weeks off to focus on starting TH-cam, I have an idea that's focused around doing ridiculous things which revolve around things I enjoy such as anime and gaming One idea I have is to see how long it would take to watch the popular anime One Piece in real time as I know this show is heavily known for how long it is. Basically a thought I had one day that I would love to know the answer to and watching someone carry out an intrusive thought like this would lead to an entertaining video and probably something that other people have thought of in the past. I have a story line set out and how I want to achieve this. but I'm put off by the same points you made in this video such as focusing on making a lot of video consistently. is it a good idea to focus on a big project that you're happy with or would you focus on pumping out more consistent videos.
Follow your passion, especially as you’ve already taken time off of work. A few really good videos can make a channel as much as a lot of videos can. Above all, just get started, the first step is always the hardest.
@happiness7808 thank you for the comment and I took the plunge and recorded the idea mentioned in my previous comment. It was fun and I plan to do more. Appreciate you for reply ❤️
I wish I had this video back when I was starting. I was so mad because I had great content but wasn't getting any attention. 1k was mission impossible. I was lucky when I found out I can boost my channel with initial subs just enough to start getting noticed. I got myself first couple of hundred subs for very low price (I have personally used a lot of Famester). After that my main channel gained a ton of organic traffic.
Hey, i have a question, I made this yt channel as a 'test' to experiment with different things, ill proabably make another one once i find out what works etc. As i mostly wanna use it to promote my twitch. For some reaosn, my first short has over 1000 views, and around 70% watch it, however the next one i posted, only around 25% watch it, and rest scroll through, despite it being very similar to the first one, and actually (in my opinion) a bit more interesting... Ofc i know the short 'quality' aint the best, as i said, im experimenting with whats good and whats bad, but i just couldnt figure out a reason why the scroll through rate is SO different... Sorry if this comment aint appropriate and you dont asnwer things like that Edit: After rewatching both a few times, would it be possible that background music makes a difference from 25 to 70% scroll through rate??
i have over 140,000 subscribers & TH-cam was my full time job since 2010, and NOW im about to become homeless, all my time, effort, blood , sweat and tears down the drain all for nothing, all due to youtube changing up the website way to many times, youtube used to send out numerous notifications a day now they only send out 3 a day, plus the algorithm is messed up as well, half my subs dont even get my videos anymore, its sad that this was my full time job now ill be homeless living in a tent in a couple of weeks! Unreal! as much as i love my subs and fans, it goes to show you that it doesn't matter how many subs you have in 2024!
I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. It's a horrible one to be in, I've been there... it's rough. But, you can't blame TH-cam. If you don't adapt to the changes, don't update yourself and learn the new way to do things, you're letting yourself fail and can only blame yourself.
How with a channel that has that much engagement you should be making a few thousand a month. I've seen a person with 2k subs and 100k views in one video about 10 minutes make $150 a month. I don't know if its because of the Niche they are in since business related. But something seems off. Maybe your niche is not profitable anymore
It does not matter about how many subs you have, you are right. But how much you get seen does matter and treating the channel as a business still works. You have to have a hard look at your content and see how you can develop a business with people you do have. You have to think of TH-cam as promotion for your business and not exclusively rely on TH-cam as your income. Look at sponsorships and affiliates and build out your email list.
Also, if you are uploading that often, you should not expect high views. How is your retention? Have you looked at your competition? Have you looked at maybe improving your thumbnails for consistency and using better editing?
Just started to post videos on my channel, love to edit and film but don't have enough time to do it, I'll follow all of these and check out the results
For people who have struggled to hit this point who have been trying for a while, would you suggest starting fresh, or would that be unnecessary for growth.
Question, I have a channel that’s about a year old at 66 subs. I feel like I did the exact opposite and have seen no growth. Is TH-cam still in the era of me having to start a new channel? Or should I just keep pushing with a new perspective?
Tips given in this video are gold but I have a question, I started a brand new channel 10 days ago, I uploaded 5 videos so far (all long form, no shorts) and TH-cam still didn't give me any impressions at ALL and believe me when I tell you that I worked my ass off on making them, is it normal ? Does the algorithm take time before pushing your content ? There's no point in having a great thumbnail and good quality video if youtube isn't showing my videos to nobody. I don't know if I should try create a new channel and re-upload to see if it fixes the issue or just wait some more
It’s funny because it’s just passing on everything I had to learn to do it myself. I think when you do education you get a free pass because it’s so easy to grow in education, and it leaves you with a lack of understanding of what your viewers are trying to do. But to grow a gaming channel or “personality” or “entertainment” channel is just completely different and so much harder so forcing yourself to do it makes you a better teacher because you can relate properly.
@StreamScheme thanks for the quick response, I've gotten some great tips from your videos. I applaud you for taking the approach of putting yourself in your audience's shoes, so you can identify actual issues that we have. I think I understand the lesson better after reading this reply. Like you said in the video we need to give value, and if we imagine ourselves from the position of our target audience, we can find value that's worth providing. Thanks again for a detailed response, it opened my eyes and gave me more perspective on what you're saying. 😄
Yo what he's saying is literally fact. He gave me all the advice in this video in his discord. So I made a brand new channel I told NO ONE about it I made valuable browse base content I got monetized in 3 weeks with 3 videos Thanks Eljay!! :)
@@JusJoshinYuh browse based content is like something someone would see on the homepage or in the recommended section. A video that someone decides to watch *after* seeing the title and thumbnail, rather than searching for something
@@parkerr Eljay has a ton of tips for Streamers. A BIG one of his tips though, is that if you want to *grow* on twitch you have to make content on other platforms as well to funnel viewers to your Livestream. Whether that's TH-cam or tiktok or whatever. But making content on other platforms to grow your Livestream is an important tip that Eljay shares. Eljay being the guy in this video
thank you for this. I'm thinking about making a new channel. so one thing I heard was launching a new channel with 3 videos right off the bat. 3 videos posted at the same time and then atleast one video a week after that. I think matpat said something like that before? but what do you think? if i post 3 videos at the same time on a new channel, would youtube mistake that for spam and not promote it?
TH-cam will not span if you upload three videos at the same time. But you need to keep in mind the audience you are uploading the video to . then that audience is more active, uploading the video and publishing the video at that time will definitely bring good results.
If you've had a TH-cam channel for a long time, how do you start these processes to build it back up? (I used to stream games on TH-cam but I stopped when I switched over to Twitch but now I don't stream at all and I'm thinking of trying to come up with new types of content for TH-cam
The channel you're on is small enough it likely won't matter, that said, I'd encourage you to make a new channel, more focused on high quality planned content. Follow the videos steps, pick a niche, figure out what your value is, focus on it. Also, a small favour, please try to keep your private name and personal details more carefully protected, your channel dox's yourself HEAVILY, which is very dangerous.
@@StreamScheme I'm not quite sure what you mean about how my channel dox's itself I just checked the settings. Any advice on how to fix this would be very helpful
Hey awesome tips! I started a little more than a month ago but kind of stuck at 50 subs. We’ll see if I get lucky. I think I am improving video by video but my niche might be over saturated already or my videos just simply suck😂😂 Anyway, thanks for the tips🙏
I'm thinking of getting the hyperx solocast but rn im stressing if I should get either the samson q2u or the hyperx so can you choose for me? cause I really cannot choose rn
Coming back to this video and watching it for maybe the third time (lol) ... To answer the question, "why are you putting your face on your thumbnails?" (the 8:55 mark or so) I believe it is to put human emotion into the thumbnail? ... I mean, you put your face on your thumbnails, and for good reason!
You can use human emotion without your own face. And I don't put my face in for good reason, I hate that I have to include my face, and try every few weeks to remove it. Our core audience will not click a video by us if my face isn't in it, which destroys early performance and the entire video. We've built a brand on this style, and that is the worst thing we can do because anyone who doesn't know me doesn't care.
@@StreamScheme That is indeed very interesting! I will say that I click on your videos when I see your face, but if it is the style without your face, my immediate thought is it is someone copying your style. I've actually found, in my stats, that my face (in the videos or in the thumbnail) tends to lead to terrible retention, and when I don't include my face at all, the videos do better... so, while my original post says it adds human emotion, I'm basically parroting advice I've heard elsewhere.
Hope to grow after watching this. I am now on 577 subscribers and it has been a year. Road to 1k subscribers now and I appreciate others who can do it quicker
I'd say you can stick with nails, but right now your content isn't unique, anyone could do it. I also think a lot of your content isn't really explaining the value behind it. I'd do more research into other Nail channels, but also research into other niches you can take inspiration from. When I do Game Reviews, I watch a lot of Anime reviews, and see how they package content. I use that as inspiration to bring a new feeling to my niche.
My channel started of very good i was getting good views as soo as i would post but it would reach a certain number and stop, what do you guys think i should do according to my content?
I'm sick and tired of guys like you flooding TH-cam and misleading viewers just to promote via Affiliate marketing tools that do not work. And the problem is that many who have no idea sit and listen to you.
hey I need some help with a streaming platform ever time I try it makes no sense I just don't know how to start please help. just to tell you I have a makbook
Tam is total addressable market isn't it? You just said different so people would make angry comments, and i got baited! Like when asmongold says simple words wrong
I actually don’t know lol I came up with TAM by myself when I was writing a title for Gunbrella and Pepper Grinder I kept worrying Metroidvania was too niche, then Platformer might be too, and ended up landing on “This game” or “This amazing game” And then needed a name for the concept and just went with Total Audience Metric, TAM. If it’s already a thing that’s fucking funny
Because it’s not the point :) Beginners will see it and not understand why it’s the amount it is and either get unreal expectations or confused why it isn’t more. The income is whole video by itself.
I don’t understand? You’ve got a great focus, you’re doing Japan travel content, people love that You just need to make it less about you in the titles and thumbnails like the “9 tips” video. So rather than, “here’s my journey” with your face You say, “The Most Expensive Saki In Kyoto!” And open on, “Today we’re exploring Kyoto in search of the infamous saki of blah blah blah, we’ll also check out hotsprings, food stalls, and the local temples! Let’s go”
@@StreamScheme As much as I agree with you, I am not actually located in Japan. Every video just feels more like a chore to get to where I actually want to be. The videos youre talking about are relating to my personal vlogs that I created when I went on a holiday for 3 weeks, which were in no way meant to be 'clickable' or 'audience expanding'. That's the type of content I aspire to make at some point, but I am simply not able to make the actual fun content until I manage to live there and already have an established viewer base. I am just a simple dude living in the Netherlands and I want to refrain away from making my channel a purely informative based channel. Yes the video you're speaking of did really well, however that's not who I want to be.
You can do travel and interesting places in your country for now, get people in with showing off all the amazing things you can do, let them slowly get invested in your personality, and then you can do the same anywhere. Just remember, even Abroad in Japan doesn’t focus on himself to get clicks but instead the amazing topic. You’re also misunderstanding, I’m not saying “DO INFORMATION DO TIPS” I’m saying that video did well because people didn’t need to know who you were to click it, it had value outside of you, despite it being you. Offer them value despite yourself, get the click, and let them become invested in you.
@@StreamScheme I honestly do wish the outside world here in the Netherlands appealed to me as much as shooting content in Japan. Besides that I feel less comfortable whipping out a camera here for some reason? Mostly because the chance is higher that people will understand me. Which is ridiculous if you think about it because I am sure there's people in Japan too that were like "lol look at this dood chatting bare shit into a camera innit" I haven't been too active because I've been so incredibly stuck on doing exactly what you're saying. It's the constant not wanting to be a robotic information channel, but also not knowing what kind of content is just fun and silly and makes my personality shine more. I've tried creating gaming content but I've noticed that I am a completely different person on stream than I am on voice call with my friends or even just alone sometimes, it's that constant pressure of wanting to be entertaining and in the process losing yourself. I've been a regular consumer of your videos with a different channel of mine (ThieVuz) and I always respect your takes and info you share but man I feel so stuck with this channel in particular.
I’m passionate about politics but I don’t want that heat 😂 so making travel vlogs, but I guess tips would be more useful to an audience that doesn’t care about me personally yet.
Hope everyone is having a lovely day, sorry it's a bit long! I tried to cut as much as I could but ended up with segments that were confusing and needed the context or examples.

Let us do our best and God will do the rest! I appreciate any input because I believe we can all learn from each other! God Bless Us!
Hey, I have a question
I've scheduled 2 weeks off to focus on starting TH-cam, I have an idea that's focused around doing ridiculous things which revolve around things I enjoy such as anime and gaming
One idea I have is to see how long it would take to watch the popular anime One Piece in real time as I know this show is heavily known for how long it is.
Hello! quick question!
Do you have a video about setting up donations?
or do you have a video to recommend abt it?
I don't use direct donations as they aren't valuable to the viewer, and are prone to scams.
@@StreamScheme Makes total sense! I respect that ;)
watching this, i realize that Dracomies, is the best small channel that nails this. hes very small but has a perfect niche.
Hey, i have a question, I made this yt channel as a 'test'
to experiment with different things, ill proabably make another one once
i find out what works etc. As i mostly wanna use it to promote my twitch.
For some reaosn, my first short has over 1000 views, and around 70% watch it,
however the next one i posted, only around 25% watch it, and rest scroll through, despite
it being very similar to the first one, and actually (in my opinion) a bit more interesting...
Ofc i know the short 'quality' aint the best, as i said, im experimenting with whats good and
whats bad, but i just couldnt figure out a reason why the scroll through rate is SO different...
Sorry if this comment aint appropriate and you dont asnwer things like that
Edit: After rewatching both a few times, would it be possible that background music makes a difference from 25 to 70% scroll through rate??
I’d recommend watching my video on shorts it allowance any questions you have that that I could answer
The last couple of days I've wanted to get back to making videos and streaming again. Guess I'll go ahead and get started on it!
i have over 140,000 subscribers & TH-cam was my full time job since 2010, and NOW im about to become homeless, all my time, effort, blood , sweat and tears down the drain all for nothing, all due to youtube changing up the website way to many times, youtube used to send out numerous notifications a day now they only send out 3 a day, plus the algorithm is messed up as well, half my subs dont even get my videos anymore, its sad that this was my full time job now ill be homeless living in a tent in a couple of weeks! Unreal! as much as i love my subs and fans, it goes to show you that it doesn't matter how many subs you have in 2024!
I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. It's a horrible one to be in, I've been there... it's rough.
But, you can't blame TH-cam. If you don't adapt to the changes, don't update yourself and learn the new way to do things, you're letting yourself fail and can only blame yourself.
His channel is the biggest clickbait ever. That is probably part of the reason.
Congratulations
For people who have struggled to hit this point who have been trying for a while, would you suggest starting fresh, or would that be unnecessary for growth.
I’ve seen starting fresh to a long way IF the quality is there.
Im at 10M views and 20K subs in 45 days myself, just got monetized!
Congrats thats awesome.
How
Dude let’s go!!
Thank you for sharing this!
can't wait to use these tips
Question, I have a channel that’s about a year old at 66 subs. I feel like I did the exact opposite and have seen no growth. Is TH-cam still in the era of me having to start a new channel? Or should I just keep pushing with a new perspective?
This guy knows what hes talking about, probably one of the only channels that actually helped me get monetized
I hope you guys make it to 1000 subs soon! I’m at 547 so far ! close to that 1000 I can smell it ! Don’t give up guys your 1 video closer each day ❤
Brilliant tips. 👍
I don't know if I should try create a new channel and re-upload to see if it fixes the issue or just wait some more
What’s the username?
I hope everyone accomplishes their goal for this year and the next!
This is one of the better TH-cam advice videos
Everyone else: just be yourself and your personality will win them over
This guy: get rid of your ego
Actual advice, everyone else says the same stuff
Thanks for this information
Just broke 25 over the weekend. It's a long road but at least making a unique World of Warcraft Classic series is an enjoyable project
Thanks you for the advice
This is a good video
Yo what he's saying is literally fact. He gave me all the advice in this video in his discord.
So I made a brand new channel
I told NO ONE about it
I made valuable browse base content
I got monetized in 3 weeks with 3 videos
Thanks Eljay!! :)
browse base content. is it like things searched for + a solid thumbnail? in a specific category
@@JusJoshinYuh browse based content is like something someone would see on the homepage or in the recommended section. A video that someone decides to watch *after* seeing the title and thumbnail, rather than searching for something
@@TheLovelyScrub im understanding
I hear a lot about “making good videos” and so on but what about streamers? Are they doomed on TH-cam? What tips do you have for Streamers
Ctr ironically is the thing that hurts me most not even the rankings. I suck at thumbnails and I have no clue what im doing wrong
well done!
thank you for this.
Well done.
Man am i early or is something wrong with youtube?
@@StreamScheme I was not aware those were visible thank you for that
@@StreamScheme I'm not quite sure what you mean about how my channel dox's itself I just checked the settings.
I just started my DJ channel nd have 9 subscribers. But I’m not giving up! 🎧💚
What will Happen if you did share it to a couple of platforms? Is there a way to recover?
Just time, lots of time and consistent uploads.
I'm thinking of getting the hyperx solocast but rn im stressing if I should get either the samson q2u or the hyperx so can you choose for me? cause I really cannot choose rn
Samson, not even close
@@StreamScheme alright thanks for the suggestion l'll get the samson microphone
@enrique7934alright l'll get the q2u thanks for the suggestion😊
@enrique7934 I am the same guy btw, anyways so I have the Hyperx solocast and I'm happy with it rn
So since I have a lot of my friends as subs on my channel, does that mean it's dead? Can I revive it at all? Should I start over with a new channel?
great video
Im dedicating myself to just consistently upload and improve my storytelling and quality of my vids. Whatever else happens, happens. 😎
You're always the best Elj uwu
Thank you so much
Start TH-cam recently and yeah, still trying to get to my 50 subs. But giving up is not an option
thanks 🙏
Bro I feel like giving up TH-cam algorithm is hard
You can easily do this with a true crime channel
I mean you can do this with a lot of clickbait and trash content, but I don’t want to make a living doing something I’m not interested in
45k views in a month blud stayed on
Great video 🔥anyone got any tips on getting a video editor?
I started 3 weeks ago and I’m almost at 200 subs 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
This video will blow up
Small gaming TH-camrs wya?😂🤛🏼
I hold the power to make the number of likes a funny number (69). I NEVER FELT SO POWERFUL. AHHHHHHHH.
Hope to grow after watching this. I am now on 577 subscribers and it has been a year. Road to 1k subscribers now and I appreciate others who can do it quicker
I'm passionate about nails but my channel isn't taking off. Trying to find another niche and channel idea is hard and confusing.
@@StreamScheme thank you for taking the time to answer and explain your advice.
My channel started of very good i was getting good views as soo as i would post but it would reach a certain number and stop, what do you guys think i should do according to my content?
I'm sick and tired of guys like you flooding TH-cam and misleading viewers just to promote via Affiliate marketing tools that do not work.
And the problem is that many who have no idea sit and listen to you.
hey I need some help with a streaming platform ever time I try it makes no sense I just don't know how to start please help. just to tell you I have a makbook
ur a goat man
how do i fix my stream echo :( i dont think it has to do with mic since mic muted but still echo
You’re listening back to your audio either in browser or have monitoring on.
@@StreamScheme thanks bro!
I wish everyone here the best of luck.
You have joined youtube around 2019..
how do i know what is fluff or not
Tam is total addressable market isn't it? You just said different so people would make angry comments, and i got baited! Like when asmongold says simple words wrong
I actually don’t know lol
I came up with TAM by myself when I was writing a title for Gunbrella and Pepper Grinder
I kept worrying Metroidvania was too niche, then Platformer might be too, and ended up landing on “This game” or “This amazing game”
And then needed a name for the concept and just went with Total Audience Metric, TAM.
If it’s already a thing that’s fucking funny
@@StreamScheme
I heard about it when I owned a farm, lol. It's the same as what you were saying
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_addressable_market
Thats so wild lmao
why blur the income!?!?
Because it’s not the point :)
Beginners will see it and not understand why it’s the amount it is and either get unreal expectations or confused why it isn’t more.
The income is whole video by itself.
Can you do a a twitch account on Xbox and only have a phone for beginners
Guess I am just screwed then in terms of niche choice lmao
I don’t understand? You’ve got a great focus, you’re doing Japan travel content, people love that
You just need to make it less about you in the titles and thumbnails like the “9 tips” video.
So rather than, “here’s my journey” with your face
You say, “The Most Expensive Saki In Kyoto!” And open on, “Today we’re exploring Kyoto in search of the infamous saki of blah blah blah, we’ll also check out hotsprings, food stalls, and the local temples! Let’s go”
@@StreamScheme As much as I agree with you, I am not actually located in Japan.
Which is ridiculous if you think about it because I am sure there's people in Japan too that were like "lol look at this dood chatting bare shit into a camera innit"
I haven't been too active because I've been so incredibly stuck on doing exactly what you're saying.
For the first tip, lets say youve already fucked it up, would it be better if the friends unsubbed or would it be better to just leave it be as is?
I just made a whole new channel once I was confident in my new approach, and told nobody so zero pressure, all potential
