      Sincerely agree. I picked up a (used) Squier Thinline Tele (60s classic vibe) and I could not be happier. I was shocked at the quality. Obviously it's not top of the top but for the price point I kinda think they're unbeatable. Hearing the squier tele in this just solidifies that opinion for me.

    Jeff Healey absolutely played a Squier! My first electric was a black Squier Strat (which is now my son’s) and when I saw an ad where Jeff was playing his Squier Strat I was over the moon. Jeff Healey was also the first concert I ever went to way back in 1990 I believe and he’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

    Purchased the 40th Anniversary Satin Blonde Telecaster and oh my god what a beautiful instrument it is. The neck is absolutely KILLER. There are a few minor superficial flaws and the neck pickup is mostly unplayable but as a $300 moddable platform with an incredible neck and delivered to my home it was a bargain👍🏽 thank you Squier

    I just picked up a 40thAE Tele, red like the one in the video, from a major US retailer who had it on an irresistible sale. I brought along my 20+ year pro guitarist brother for help checking it out, and we both agreed that even at full price these things are an absolutely spectacular deal, with the Tele in particular there's really no comparison until at least the over $1k Vintera. One thing I'll say, though, is that I highly recommend trying multiple examples out in person before buying, we did that and there was a shocking amount of variation in sound between them, the one I bought had a MUCH hotter bridge pickup than the one before it, really awesome cowboy boot stomping country sound that the other example totally lacked.

    My 2015 Fender standard tele stays at home while my CV squire tele makes it to the clubs. It says in tune and sounds good and if it gets damaged it isn’t a big big deal. Still a deal, but…Pine body, brass saddles and bone nut is all you need.

    • @paulgordon6949
      @paulgordon6949 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @James Tillman I have played them side by side. There is some difference, as you would hope seeing as fenders cost several times as much as the squiers do. But it's not a huge difference and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a good squier, and absolutely no reason why a professional musician couldn't use one for a live performance. And in fact they do, on occasion. The great jeff Healey played a squier strat for a long time, and sounded great, and Peter perret of the band The Only Ones plays one also. There's no reason why any professional couldn't use one, but many of them have their own signature fenders or whatever, or like to use vintage instruments. Also your average rock star makes a lot of money, so it stands to reason they would invest more money into their instruments. Not because there is anything wrong with a squier, but rather because a more expensive instrument will probably be just that great, as well being more desirable, naturally. Nothing wrong with squier though.

Its just perfect for taking anywhere not really worrying too much about it because its cheap enough to replace, yet it sounds fantastic. only complaint is probably the knobs have a huge deadzone where it doesnt really do anything then suddenly the last like 3/4 rotation are drastic differences. Squier is spelled that way because it was the name of the founder. That seems to be the most common spelling of the surname. Likely both spellings were common for both the word & the surname before spellings gradually became more fixed, and it just happened that one variant won out for the word & another for the surname.

All the goodness of the cv, but with a nice satin finish all over and especially on the back of the neck, so no stickiness. And the binding and the anodised aluminium pickguard are just great. Jack Pearson, one of the best players on the planet (and one time member of the Allman Brothers Band) plays a Squier. I have one of the Surf Green Bullet Teles, and it's amazing for the price.

    I bought a squire flatline tele not long ago and it’s my favorite axe to play, the construction is impressive for the price point

    I saw the Squire tele at Guitar Center nyc. It was definitely new, hadn’t been there all year. I remember thinking WOW a squire/tele with a glossed neck. This is worth way more than 4-500

    They look really cool although in Australia they're $1,100, pre-order. Not sure if id go the squier over mim fender for the price point. The pickups are Fender® Designed, as opposed to not designed, but fender made for the mim. Maybe it's just me, but also seems a premium for looks while sacrificing tone wood (Alder to Nyatoh)? To be fair i haven't held or played it, but they're just my initial thoughts.

      @@liamjenkins244 have your heard a guitar with maple vs rosewood? Come on, the difference is at least 0.01%!! How dare you.

    Nato and Nyatoh wood are two totally different species and Nyatoh is actually Palaquium of which there are many sub-species also referred to as Nyatoh, it is quite a hard wood which is often referred to in Asia as Eastern Mahogonay, it is not a true mahogany though.

    When I started guitar, Squier was some kind of avoidable brand, but now it's amazing, I really love my 70's Classic Vibe Strat and my HH Telecaster ! If I would keep just one guitar it would be one of 'em , or my upgraded Epiphone SG 🤣🤣
    Very good video !
    I just notice the Klon Centaur giveaway in the back for the 1 million suscribers, is it a joke ? 😃

    Francis Dunnery (It Bites) was a Squire Strat player and really paved the way for Squire to be taken seriously on the Channel 4 Equinox documentary in the mid 80s
