Just bought my 1st ever electric guitar, a Classic vibe Telecaster Custom. Next will be a squire Cv strat, the two color sunburst likely. Starting guitar at 41. Late to the party but least some good value to be had.
@@anthonykueber6098 a week in now. Im uploading a video of day 1 as I write this. Though my face is one of concentration in the video, it hides the joy im feeling. I'm hooked.
@@troyspencer712 I don't know what style of music you like, but once you've learned a 9th chord and how to play Barre Chords it's all over but the shouting....you'll be singing the blues with the best of them.s There's loads of instructional videos on TH-cam that I didn't have access to back in the day. Easy with fresh out of the box poly and nitro finishes. Nitro smells quite distinct. Take a new Gibson and sniff it, you'll see. Like window wash or something.
I do recall this happening during a different shootout involving some Les Pauls. They had to stuff Rob's nose because he immediately recognized a Gibson by its scent.
These classic vibes are phenomenal, I was a bit dubious about the Indonesian made guitars but they are even better than my Chinese made guitars (and they were great) I’ve bought two strats and two telecasters in the last two months, they are definitely keepers, I have been playing for over 50 years and I don’t care about the logo on the neck, I’m glad it says Squier, in years to come these are going to be so collectible, I just can’t believe what I have with these guitars, they sound and play amazing, I just don’t know how they do it but I’m glad they do it, American Strats…. You can keep them! I’ve had so many, the classic vibe is it for me, apologies for the little rant, 🙂🎸 Squier… keep on keeping on 👍
Hi there I've recently bought a classic vibe 50s black Strat simply to modify on a budget as a David Gilmour black strat look alike. I was wondering have you ever upgraded the trem block on these and do you know what size I would need.. I'm a novice at guitar tech so any help would be great. The only mods I'm going to do is the blok and the Gilmour switch other than add a black pickguard so should be easy enough, we'll I'm hoping..
I think the USA strats are tremendous guitars and it's more the high price that creates a way bigger expectation with these higher end models. I've personally never owned a US strat though just MIM guitars but I'm currently on the lookout for a good deal on one of these squier classic vibe stratocasters although I'm also considering a classic vibe tele.
I've owned both the 50s Classic Vibe and now a 50s Original series strat. There is definitely a difference in finish, quality and sound but it's not huge. The original series guitars are slightly breathier and rounder sounding. The wood used is nicer looking. The paint job is nicer (both are two tone sunburst). The neck edges are nicely rolled, the frets well dressed, the pickguard inside is tidier and the electronics are sturdier. The biggest factor for me is the finish. I'm not careful with my guitars. They don't spend much time in their cases. I'm in 4 bands and I teach music too so I spend thousands of hours a year playing. This means they get dropped and dinged - a lot. Because it's a nitro thin finish, the original series strat wears in an eye-pleasing manner. The classic vibe just starts looking ugly as it wears.
My 50's original is my favorite strat. I love the chunky neck and I prefer the nitro finish for aging as well. My second favorite is the road worn 50's vintera.
just splurged on a 50s classic vibe. Super stoked. Got the white blonde one. Has that semi see-through finish like the older classic vibe tele which I also use to own and miss dearly! It's like being reborn into a strat haha! Im a tele guy, but every guitarist out there needs a strat.
I am planning to build a 1955-style Strat with a fat U-Neck. After seeing your Video I think I'll use a Classic Vibe as the basis. You probably just saved me a lot of money. Thanks a lot.
This is my favorite show of all time. Rob with the blindfold guessing shit mixed with the hilarious random edits and sounds with funny banter. It's always great.
I just recently got the daphne blue vintera and I gotta say they are such great guitars, the pickups sound great and the neck carve is really comfortable, not to mention the looks of the instrument are phenomenal. The neck on mine is a particularly beautiful example of maple, it has some very light flaming and a small bit of Birdseye in some places
Andertons, please you all are the only people that could do this! Classic vibes with a nitro finish!!! Even if it costed more people would still buy the heck out em!
I would love to see a test where you took three of the same exact guitar model (strats) but have the player think he's going to be playing different models. I believe, in my experience, that there can be significant differences within the same models... Be it variations in the individual pieces of wood, pickups, pots, caps...whatever... which has taught me over the years that there are important elements that you just can't assume based upon a guitars price tag...
This is exactly why people always advise that if it's at all possible to physically try out the exact guitar you intend to purchase. TBF the quality control these days for the most part is excellent so it's less of an issue than it used to be, even the most expensive ranges in the past were hit or miss depending on the individual guitar.
Hell yeah, love mine. The electronics are pretty noisy but it's still cheaper to mod/fix them than get the Vintera model. The build quality is astonishing for a Chinese guitar.
@@datukaruma1563 I believe the bullets are hotter pickups. The classic vibes are vintage output pickups and thus have more clarity and chime. Awesome video thanks lads. Earlier this month I got a Fender Performer from Andertons as my first learner guitar along with Marshall combi units. Thanks Andertons I love these fender videos
Bought a squier classic vibe 50s at my first visit to andertons last month, originally went in for the player in white, came out with both of them, and I've got to say the squier is my number 1. Beautiful look, feel and tone.
I bought the Tele Vintera 50s modified and love it. I didn't want to wait on the Classic Vibe and I wanted the soft V neck. I really love a V neck on my guitars. It just fits my hand better. Great job!
2:47 Well, the early Esquire prototype was made of pinewood, but all subsequent production models of Esquire and Teles starting in 1950 were subsequently made of ash, and so were the early models of Strat. Pine is a perfectly suitable replacement, but it isn't particularly historically accurate is or anything.
Got to hand it to Fender for updating their Squier line once again. Classic Vibe are top notch guitars, especially at the price point. I actually sold my Classic Series Fender (w Nitro finish), and kept my 70's Classic Vibe Squier Stratocaster instead. Sure the guitars get slightly nicer as the price goes up, but in my opinion, there's not much difference between the Classic Vibe Squires and the MIM Vintera/Classic Series Fender guitars.
When Rob first tried each of the three strats, the gold one was tuned down a half step. During the blindfolded comparison the gold one was "magically" the same pitch as the others (A-440). I know they had edits, but it just shows you how honest and great Rob and the Captain are !!! For if the gold strat was still down a half step it would have been cheating ..LOL

i love every little aspect of the daphne blue vintera. it’s perfect and so versatile. however, i don’t have the money… i have less than one fourth of the cost of the classic vibe💀
Without knowing how vintage pickups should sound, The classic vibe sounds more vintage to me. All three sound good but if I where to put the three up against I would say the vintera sounds more over the top, the american original second and the classic vibe sounds as if it has the less output of the bunch and for my tastes it is better. BUT IN MY OPINION, what defines a great guitar is the whole package. The pickup technology is not a super complicated stuff, hence there are many cheap pickups that sound great, also given the fact that ultimately their job is to amplifily the natural sound of the guitar. What makes an american one better( and still the classic vibe is great) is the construction. Still I own mostly squiers because the unbeatable value.💪🤪
I was going to buy my first ever fender at 56yo. I researched and settled on a mij hybrid 60’s as the guitar to get. I went out to try them out and after comparing sound and playability between the mij, mim and even a mia, I gave up on my fender ownership dream and took a squire cv home saving me $1000. Apart from the the name on the headstock, there wasn’t much difference and the mij was the worst. Had there been 3k difference in quality I would have bought the mia, but there wasn’t any noticeable difference. I wanted fender but I’m not stupid

I own a 50s vintera p bass(75th anniversary) and it is sooo good but the classic vibes aren't too far behind them! The newer vinteras have tim shaw pickups which sounds amazing. At 1100 usd it is a fender that is vintage accurate.
You guys need to do a shoot out of the shapes, like take a shape like single cuts, V's, explorers, and compare different brands takes on them. Like gibson vs. Schecter vs. Ibanez vs. Esp vs. Jackson etc... Great video lads
Hey fellow Andertons lovers!!!! Just a quick aside - I just discovered Joss over on his new GAK channel doing a review on the new Tonemaster amps, and he was playing some totally sick jazz stuff. Very delightful and good to see he's still around. Sounding amazing. If you miss him, stop by and say hi :-)
No clue why they did away with their outstanding Pure Vintage series, the 56, 59, and 65. Great choices, outstanding job. I'll forever lust after an Olympic White 65 Pure Vintage. Or Sherwood Green Metallic or Sonic Blue 59 Pure Vintage.
True that the american original has stronger tremolo mechnism to get along with 0.11 or 0.12 strings and the neck is thicker anyway to deal with the tension. It is not only a pine or alder with maple. The pickups are better, the tuners and the electronics. The point is how much more we are willing to sped to get that big of a differece in our sound. I like the classic vibe very much.
The O.E.M. pickups in the old Classic Vibes were, to all intents and purposes and with the sole exception of not having the push back wire, identical to Tonerider pickups (even down to having mostly the same part numbers with just a different prefix). Given the value for money the Tonerider's represent, it's going to be hard for the new pickups to be a significant improvement. Still, at least they've brought back a Lake Placid Blue classic vibe strat [want one of those].
Chappers thought the Classic Vibe sounded great and it was his favorite to play...but the Captain then say's it's not a professional guitar? Cork-sniffing at its finest.
I was really impressed with the Classic Vibe. Of course in the Hands of a Great Guitar Player, just about anything sounds good. But it sounded really good to me, and for the Price. I might Pick one up.👍❤️
@@Dead-Eye I was looking at the Vintera 50s as a Christmas present for my self but given this review I'm stuck now! I was prepared to spend the money, now I guess I'll have to try but together and see. They both come in the colour I want which makes it even harder!
If you like a slightly bigger neck then moving up to the Vintera 50's is worth it... that soft V is just great feeling... but it does have the vintage radius which is more curved.

The O.E.M. pickups in the old Classic Vibes were, to all intents and purposes and with the sole exception of not having the push back wire, identical to Tonerider pickups (even down to having mostly the same part numbers with just a different prefix). Given the value for money the Tonerider's represent, it's going to be hard for the new pickups to be a significant improvement. Still, at least they've brought back a Lake Placid Blue classic vibe strat [want one of those].
didnt they use Tonerider pick ups,,, ie really quite good!
I put some city limits in my squier standard strat and it sounds massive. Great pickups.
20:01 Captain's finest moment
the original CV50s strat did not have cheap OEM pickups. They were Tonerider Surfari and they are outstanding alnico pickups.
3:33 CVs used to be Alnico III on 50s and AlnicoV on 60s... now they are both AlNiCo V :(
Chappers thought the Classic Vibe sounded great and it was his favorite to play...but the Captain then say's it's not a professional guitar? Cork-sniffing at its finest.
I was really impressed with the Classic Vibe. Of course in the Hands of a Great Guitar Player, just about anything sounds good. But it sounded really good to me, and for the Price. I might Pick one up.👍❤️
DO A TELE VIDEO! The Classic VIbe 50's and 60's need a video like this!
Looks/sounds like I need to try out the Classic Vibes once they come in.
Yes I’d like to get the 60’s Lake Placid Blue one.
@@Dead-Eye I was looking at the Vintera 50s as a Christmas present for my self but given this review I'm stuck now! I was prepared to spend the money, now I guess I'll have to try but together and see. They both come in the colour I want which makes it even harder!
I love how Chappers just gives it a huge sniff!!!
When all three sound great. What is the point in spending more???
If you like a slightly bigger neck then moving up to the Vintera 50's is worth it... that soft V is just great feeling... but it does have the vintage radius which is more curved.
I think this one easy. First guitar vintera has 7.25 radius fretboard. CV has the thinnest profile neck. Original was the smelly one :D
Serkan Ön...absolutely...also vintner has a v neck...
To all the guitar snobs out there he was playing high end starts and was amazed by the way the squier sounded and thought it played better than the rest .....
Already got a mint green pickguard waiting for this fiesta red beauty!!!😘
