Really love the music in this area, just so hectic and full of energy, just jumping around, ninjas everywhere, stuff like that in this game is just pure awesome.
@NARFNra Which is very cool considering Greek mythology explains that the gods created men from the earth as well, or maybe I just watch Clash of the Titans too much.
Honestly, most of the areas in this game mix visual motifs and music from multiple cultures. This one is hardly unique in that respect. Honestly, I associate the area somewhat with India, even less with the other cultures it takes motifs from, but mostly with spikes and very annoying enemies.
It strikes me as exceedingly ironic that the folks that get triggered about "cultural appropriation" or whatever are doing much more to instill racism and xenophobia than fight it. Unless that was their intent all along?
Huh. I took it as a complement. As a Rhode Islander, if somebody wrote a song about our oysters or chowder then I would be very pleased. Oysters and chowder, morning, noon, and night!! Fried oysters! Raw oysters! Oyster sandwiches! White chowder! Potato chowder! Corn chowder! Even red chowder, I will defend~
Eh. Curry is practically the official food of La Mulana. In the original, it's the food that Lemeza eats on the pause screen. In the remake, Xelpud offers you a recipe for bat curry. Apparently Nigoro tends to receive curry when they go to conventions. A stretch goal for La Mulana 2 was having the full team stream a curry party. Another one was to have Naramura eat curry three times a day for three days.
The song also has lyrics, and it is all about praising curry. Those stretch goals were reached. Also, this is the BEST SONG ON THE OST!!(Along with primitive dance)!!
Dance here.
Praise Life.
🕺
1:05 Hey, that's the chamber of extinction.

just wish the damn puzzle in there wouldn't be so nervewrecking
Time to spam the dagger and the shield to the melody.
this song sounds soo much like a turbo grafix 16 game
Well, it's a sort of mix. the elephants and certain parts of the wall are Indian, but it actually is mostly Hebrew, now that I think about it.
I hate this area of the game the most, but I have to respect how good the music is.
Also the bassline rhythm sounds like "I like to move it move it"
You know, in both this and the remake, I swear, Chamber of Birth has my favorite music.
The curry thing is because the area is based off Indian mythology. The dolls are mudmen!
@SkellionPowalskiz I like to use weapons in the beat to that music, most notably a dagger and a shield.
@NARFNra Well, that makes sense. Endless Corridor for an example is a mixture of Chinese and Arabian themes.
And the Twin Labyrinths is from Atlantis.
How else do you explain war dolphins from unknown civilizations?
@NARFNra Which is very cool considering Greek mythology explains that the gods created men from the earth as well, or maybe I just watch Clash of the Titans too much.
This place struck me as Egyptian themed, actually.
@NARFNra /moon temple

Nah, it doesn't look Egyptian at all. The game only has one area for each race, Egyptians have the Sun Temple.
@NARFNra and the Nubians have the Temple of the Moonlight
*shrug* Sorry.
the music sounds more indian then hebrew
I was being funny...
What wrong with that? Referencing other cultures is offensive now? It's not like they're belittling or making mockery of the people of india.
It strikes me as exceedingly ironic that the folks that get triggered about "cultural appropriation" or whatever are doing much more to instill racism and xenophobia than fight it. Unless that was their intent all along?
Read the translated lyrics. "Offensive" is definitely not a word I'd use, but you have to admit it's a ludicrously blatant stereotype

Stereotypical indian-sounding music labeled "song of curry"?
...seriously?

what about this song sounds indian???
What's wrong with that? Tim Curry can like whatever songs he wants. Don't shame the man for his musical tastes.

damn i wish someone would ''force'' me to eat yellow curry with coconut milk and beef/tofu 3 times a day for 3 days...
