  • 03-31-11 Installed a hypercharger on my 2008 V Star 1100 today. Not too bad of a job. Hope this video helps you decide if you want to do it yourself or call in a professional. Use the video at your own risk. I am not a motorcycle mechanic and my way may not be the right way. Part 2 of 3

It's fun doing it yourself, but it is bad looking at your motorcyle parts laying on the ground when things go wrong. If you do it yourself have a backup plan before you take it apart. Find a source of help or have the money to have someone fix your mistakes if things go bad.

Question , for the Pilot Mixture Screw need turn out 2 turns is for Front cab only ? or need to turn for both cab ? I turned both cab mixture screw 2 turn out ,replaced 122.5, 125 jet and got very bad back fire, thanks

Whenever you work on a carburetor with an adjustable pilot mixture screw, or any type of idle mixture screw, it is a good practice to gently seat the needle counting the number of turns it takes to seat it. This gives you a reference on where it was set from the factory. It has been over 10 years since I did this, but I am pretty sure they were both backed out two turns. I can't remember if you can adjust this on the bike or not, but I think you can. If you adjust them, count the number of turns you move them so you can keep an idea of where you are at with them. The other thing you can try is going to the Kuryakyn website and download the installation instructions. Good luck, I hope you figure it out.

Do you have a custom exhaust on the bike? And can you tell me the factory stock size of the jets.

I did for awhile. After going on longer rides, the loud exhaust started to get a little uncomfortable on my ears, so I went back to the stock exhaust. I'm afraid I can't tell you the original jet size because I sold the bike. I remember holding them in my had but I just can't remember what the numbers were. I do know they are different front to back cylinder. I think the front cylinder was bigger than the back cylinder.

Ran great. I did adjust the idle mixture and idle RPM. Not any noticeable HP increase though.
