Hey I'm a mobile plant-fitter (mobile heavy duty mechanic) in the U.K, its so interesting seeing how you guys do it in Canada, I'm so jelly of your service trucks, over here most guys run 3.5 tonne vans nothing like what you guys get over there, so we are very limited on equipment for jobs due to the weight we can carry, if you go above 3.5t you have to by law install a tachograph so its more of a ball ache :( but love the video I could watch Cam and Carson for hours, was laughing so hard at that untimely toilet break lol really good content loving the banter and camaraderie, its very similar to the guys I work with :) 10/10
I'm a 35 y/o office worker who recently swapped jobs to become a mechanic. It's so awesome to see how you guys are interacting with apprentices, also teaches me a lot about the mindset to become a good student. Thanks for this awesome series!
Found the page recently, . I run equipment in San Diego, doing big grading. Always give my wrench guys major props, we'd be screwed without you guys. Love the vids, and for the people who think hes being a dick to the apprentice, clearly do NOT work in construction or heavy equipment because this dude is clearly a hell of a mentor to the guy. Keep up the long vids!
Been busy in the fields and have been catching back up on these videos and ive gotta say the editing and pure comedy gold is at a all time high 😂 you guys together make for some stellar content. Keep it up 👍
I’ve used compressed air on a cylinder I couldn’t pull apart. What I did tho, I tied up the cylinder. Then I put a regulator at the end of the air hose and started with 5 psi, and slowly increase the pressure to push the cylinder. Worked good for me
That's the right way to do it. I try keeping my explanations simple and hopefully good mechanics can figure out the safe way to do it by learning from what didn't work. In a shop or if the cylinder is held on a bench it's definitely quicker to use shop air with a regulator, just secure the rod so she doesn't turn into a cannon.
To release hydraulic pressure, flip the little switch below the seat. Crank the machine with the implement lockout lever down. Now that you have pilot pressure while cranking, Run the controls
Good morning, next time, before dismantling the head cylinder, disconnect all 2 flexible hoses of the cylinder. Plus, if you disconnect all tubes and flexibles when the rod is at final strokem, open and close, you will find high pressure on the cylinder camera. Good for washing face by hyd oil ( as your video !!!! ) Mantein the rod not at maximum or minimal stroke Tks
One time as an apprenti, I had a lift cylinder off A D8R, we had it vertical pulling the rod out with a chain fall. Then my J-man’s wife comes to talk to him, so there standing to the side and Im blindly yarding the chain lifting out this rod. Welp, the fitting was pointed in their direction and when the piston got to the top, it blasted all the all all over both of them…….whoops. Lol.
You didn't take the nut off and reseal the inside of the cylinder head or gland. There are packings and o-rings in there that are critical for a proper seal for the hydraulics. What you showed was half of the job. The easy half.
Lol I've also experienced air hooked up to a fairly large cylinder with 3 inch thick rod. My stepdad put air to it while I held the rod end and he held the cylinder. Both flew opposite of each other with enough force to launch the rod with me holding on a good 5 plus feet. Never gonna do that again...
Go to Makita impacts and never look back I have both high and mid torque I'm happy with them so far I don't use them everyday mind you. I bet you will have todo a rebuild on that cylinder the seals on the piston have been disturbed.
When time permits we will probably reseal it fully, but this was a cheap option to buy us time. Realistically those seals are disturbed everytime that cylinder cycles anyways but I get what you're saying, things never go back the same way after being run for so long.
Hello from Texas Just found your channel yesterday and am starting to love the humor and work. But what made you wanna do what you do and work 15 to 20hr days ??? Should do a Q & A video.
2:30 there isnt even a lock valve on the cylinder just dont put an impact on a flange go to a hose on the pipe they are ORFS there will be pressure but you can crack it slowly. on a flange the pressure is either sealed or in your face
Someone else asked in the comments why he didn’t change the gland seals.. I’m kinda wondering to on why. I have a cylinder pulled out of a e85 bobcat that’s just like this one and someone please explain on why bro skipped that part
your impact is lagging because you have it on 4th setting which is actually a lug nut setting to not drive them on or off to hard keep your impact on 3rd setting you will get full strength
Can you do a whole video on hack for making seals radial seals etc , backing rings, o rings etc that aren’t trashed but not in perfect shape kind of little tricks you can pull to help save the job for the short term … I’m also HD field tech never had apprenticeship here and only been at is a few years so far.. would love to get knowledge from you all or anyone else who has ideas and tips
Carson left to piss without confirmation that Cam had heard him. In the service industry everyone literally says "heard" in response to everything to make sure things are communicated properly. He fucked up, Cam is actually always right.
Jesus just stumbled across this channel and it's pure gold. Freaking hilarious. I'm sure you don't like taking advice from some keyboard knob. But I usually slide the gland back in after draining then put two bolts back in and slide the rod all the way upto the gland then take the two bolts out and pull the rod out. Hashtag just saying...haha I'm pretty sure you don't need advice on how to do your job though. Awesome content.

this dude is a super good boss hes literally teaching you everything including how to do the job to even how to act on the job. mad props

Hey it's awesome to see you in the comments again. Hope you've been well. Thank you very much! We're glad you like the content.
Cam is like my favorite guy to watch on TH-cam now. I don’t know how more don’t watch this.
Spread the word! If you're in some groups, share our videos. We appreciate you watching and the kind words, Jon.

Using compressor air to get the rod is sure way to get injured lol.
Awesome vid!! Cams the man love razzing the boys at work! gotta keep these apprentices on their toes and wanting more!
This awesome guys. The PM service work videos are great but these unexpected type repairs are the shit!
More to come man!
I like how you do work and you bring joy to work with your partner
ONE OF THE BEST UPLOADS ON THIS CHANNEL
love how you set your tools down stream from the oil waterfall and then ask why they so slimed
Your videos are awesome. I'll love to be one of your apprentice to gain more in field works, when I'm done with my undergraduate studies.
It's like watching the trailer park boy's and hear Ricky talking.

LOL what happened after?
Great video! I laughed on multiple occasions and it made my work day more enjoyable. Nicely done! 👍😁
Glad you enjoyed it! We’re working on a lot of new Service Call episodes for 2023!
I laughed so hard with the ladder
Ahhh.....a mechanic comedy show.😄
Maybe Josh puts his cap on toward he can think straight.
Carson is gonna be the star
Thank you boys great viewing
Thanks for watching man!
Great job,, very interesting I'd like to work with such a supervisor
Try a closed end vise boss. Keeps all the road schmoo out of the innards.
Cams got the jitters

Wow, great job with your helper 👍👍👍👍
thanks for watching!
Freezer swiss rolls homie
What is in cams ear, are they custom ear plugs or ear buds ?
And that's how you get a repeat customer, not inspecting the barrel! 👍
Do you heat the O-rings to make them shrink?
Back to back dose of the Camster!! Nice job Wrenchy!
Is it “Wrenchy” or Field Daddy?
@@chadrides914 it’s the grand Reamer to you.

do a comedy show..lol
Hahaha Cam's a really funny dude for sure

Good ole red green
That Milwaukee sounds like it is all out of beans
Yeup… 💩

i just had an apprentice working with me. i feel you on the do we really need to make 5 trips for 2 tools
Good job guys
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Part 2 very soon.

My hand hits the 1,2,3,4 mode on my Milwaukee. It’s super annoying, but that might be the issue? But idk maybe not 😆🤷🏼♂️
What earplugs is Cam using in this video?
Yeah I wear a seatbelt.
Disassembled one today, unfortunately they made a change to the partsnumbers so weren't able to reassemble.
Which machine was this on?

No. Mine had the same issue out the box. Sent it to warranty. They have a trigger issue right now.
Mines a pos too after some use
what brand are your ear protection brother? looking at getting some. I work in the same field. love the content!
why did the senior mechanic not deenergized the cylinder lines of pressure. that was a close one

Nice to see ya around again Chad. Hope you're doing well man.

Ps: spit is no joke I always use the heavy loogies on my rod and main bearing rolls!😂
Really OWESOME
Definetly no seat belt 😎
The first part of the video fustrated me so bad I would have a ladder and tools ready instead of going back and forth

not mean at all, exactly how my journeymen talk to me as an apprentice and joke around with me. secretly you love your apprentice
Great video thanks boys I'd be there like shot to help When the repair on mini on
Thanks Jon. Keep letting us know what you want to see.
Tracks and undercarriage replacement Clutch adjustment or replacement Anything on wheel loaders thanks And does Cam need a old apprentice
Where you from Jon?
Do you repair off highway trucks
i really appreciate the heavy music in these videos.
I don't wear no fuckin seat belt unless I got someone with me or a cop in front
I feel like in any field starting as a apprentice a huge part of your training is the mental abuse from your journeyman
Could never work with him
I would much rather be outside covered in oil with a view like that than being in an office sitting on my ass looking out the window 🤢
Oil injection doesn't look fjn
Did you grow up watching AVE.
You could tell he the mechanic doesn’t like being filmed
I’m so happy I was never an apprentice. I guess I skipped that step because I know something.
seatbelts are gay
useless engineers should have to watch these videos to see how their designs SUCK.
LOL!
Im willing to replace Carson for half the pay.
Are you milking the job???
The reason no one watches yeaaaaah is cause yaaa canaaaadian
Milwaukee isn’t garbage, dudes just bitching cause the shitty situation he’s in
All that cool goes away when your going face 1st through a windshield 😎🥸😳😮🥴🫣🫣😂
Well said! 😂
