I have a Versa gear chair, rated for 450+ lbs, i'm 230, it started falling apart in 2 months. With covid I had issues contacting customer support, then they changed their file warranty methods. In the end I never got any help with the chair and after 14 months, the bolts have snapped, it nearly reclines all the way to the floor. The metal frame as streched bolt holes because low grade metal. Never buy these pleather chairs. One of the worst purchases in my life. I paid nearly 500.00 for this chair, I would love to post photos of it for an extended warranty!

The chair game is crazy, son! I started spending more time at my desk since I purchased a new headphone, dac, amp set up. I quickly realized that my DX Racer with the RGB lights was not a great chair for relaxing to music. 😁
Started researching comfortable chairs and had no idea how much a chair matters and how much knowledge is out there. They are even chair tier list that are actually more useful than fighting game character tier list!
This channel is legit. They helped me narrow it down to the Amia, Embody, and the Leap V2. Went with the Embody and this may be the best purchase I made in years! Once I got it all dialed in, it’s been nothing but maximum comfort!
The unexpected thing that I love about the embody is that it dances to music with your body. When bopping your back and shoulders to the music, the chair bops with you while supporting your back. Dope!
Had the Embody for about a week and I am kicking my self for not investing in a quality chair sooner!

These seem to focus on design rather than functionality. The design is the selling point. About 15 years ago I got sucked into the $99 faux leather office chair from a big office store. Sure it felt great during the 15 to 20 minutes time I tested it at store but for hours at home I soon realized I had made a big mistake and returned it.

i bought a $100 computer chair like 20 years ago at the store and it was insanely comfortable. i spent hours a day at my computer and never once felt uncomfortable in that chair, i often fell asleep in it. it didn't recline or anything but it rocked a little bit. wish i could remember what brand it was though because from the sound of it, it was far more comfortable than these gaming chairs that cost far more money.

Thank you for all the chair videos! They've given me a lot of good pointers to take into account. I sat in the Secret Lab Titan and was about to buy one, liking the integrated lumbar support in the 2022 model. Then I found out about Secret Lab's quality problems, and shady influencer marketing you mentioned. Trying to maximize the value for my money, I went from the EUR 600 Secret Lab to EUR 1500 Malmstolen 4000... It really hurts my wallet, but that is far better than my back hurting. On top of the superior comfort, I'm expecting to get much more years of use out of the proper office chair compared to a gaming chair.

I may be a little out there when it comes to an opinion on this. But I miss my 'gaming chair' and I think I am going to go back to one very soon.
When my old gaming chair finally bit the dust after four years, I researched and everyone pointed to the ergo office chairs. So I went with one. Struggled a year with it and started getting back pain from it. No matter how I adjusted it I just couldn't get it right. I never had this issue with my old chair. I just felt that from my shoulders up I had zero support and it would make me hunch forward, making the problem even worse.
I then went with an 'executive' style chair and although it's comfortable, I run into the same issues. It's fine for sitting back and watching TH-cam and what not, but when you are "active" as in engaged in a game or reading an article, I start hunching forward.
With the gaming chair I had in the past, my back pains I had prior went away. I felt like I could just sit back and the chair would support me and force me to maintain a proper posture while I was sitting in it.
    That's just me though.

The other reason why people don’t get a gaming chair is because of the material. PU leather after some time, especially in warmer climates, commonly peels off after prolonged use/exposure to humidity, so its very nasty for long term durability. It’s also less comfortable/sweat-friendly than a mesh chair in my opinion.
Gaming chairs with fabric upholstery are more breathable too but they tend to cost more and stain a lot more easily. That’s why my setup has a full mesh chair instead of the Secretlab and I never regretted my choice✌🏻

I bought the DXRacer Ocelot World chair ages ago, something like 7 years, give or take. The build quality was great and still 'feels expensive', even the seat foam has hardly compressed with God knows how many thousands of butt-hours (I spend ALOT of time at my comp). Still, after a couple of years that PU leather was already starting to fail, and now it looks a total mess. Good comfort still, but embarrassing to look at. That's the last time I buy a PU Leather chair, it's like a built-in shelf life.

Gaming peripheral/hardware manufacturers known for their mice, keyboards, etc. delved into the gaming chair market a couple years after DXRacer became a big thing. I wished they went for more proprietary designs instead of using a cookie cutter design. Like a fully adjustable mesh chair with RGB lighting or something instead of using a bucket seat design. Logitech partnered with Herman miller to make an Embody chair to achieve the gamer aesthetic without the bucket seat design. The only bucket seat gaming chair that I find comfortable for long term sitting is the Maingear Forma GT. I’ve sat on one in micro center and removed the lumbar pillow and it still supports my lumbar.

I love how gaming chairs are "hugging" me. For sitting in front of PC, tight seat (like in sport car) is much more comfortable for me than ergonomic chair or even huge livingroom armchair. Thats why I decided for Gaming chairs. Only disadvantage i see, is that i cant sit cross legged, which i would like to time to time. Headrest is dealbreaker for me too.

I am curious what your thoughts are on LFGaming chairs. They are a brand (or a subsidiary?) of Lifeform chairs. Basically these are high-end custom office chairs with "gaming aesthetics" (not my cup of tea personally) but the ergonomics of a high-end executive chair. They are quite expensive though, which is unsurprising since they are custom made in Canada.

I have been using a DXRacer chair for gaming at home and selected it for the optional mouse pad armrest attachment. I do not game at a desk or table, but in front of flat-screen TVs. I would be interested in finding a more comfortable office chair with a mouse pad armrest, perhaps even an adjustable pivoting keyboard tray to get mine off of my lap. I haven't had any luck trying to track one down myself and I'd like to retire my current one, thanks!

easily the most comfortable office chair i've bought, i actually like it more than the old aeron chair ($1k) i use to have at work

In my case, a gaming chair was the most comfortable for my office. I have degenerative disk disease & the pronounced curve ("lumbar support") in office chairs is excruciatingly painful. I got a fully loaded Aeron thinking the adjustability would be best. It was unusable for me.
A Flat back & seat is the only arrangement that is not painful. Once you remove the lumbar pillow, these gaming chairs provide just that & at a fraction of the cost. The only difficulty is finding one that doesn't look like it should be equipped with fart cans & a spoiler.

Tendentious presentation. 1. Don't buy ANY chair that is not fit for you, try before you buy every posture you use sitting at your desk 2. Really cheap pillow can be changed for really good pillow, it's not truth that it's getting compressed that much and if such pillow exists - change the foam or pillow itself. Also you don't have to force your shoulders to be supported, don't be silly XD. 3. Truth, but not to the point that you're mention. You can strech a and move around actually. 4. Truth, mechanisms are less complex. It's not hard to recline on a racing style chair. You just have to set the spring tension that you have underneath. I can't imagine myself using it fully loosened. Also - hitting desk with your knees? Srsly? It's like telling ppl to not buy chair with wheels cus you can drive over your toes. Seat depth, cushions is all about points one and 2. 5 warranty coverage - chairs are not rockets, you can actually repair them easly and it's not something outstanding to see dxracer chair still operational after 15 years of abuse.

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Ergonomic chairs aren't meant to need pillows to support you. 2. Replacing a low end pillow, like DxRacer, with a high end one, from a brand like Secret Lab, changes nothing about the ergonomics of the chairs. It just feels little nicer to the touch. 3. You can move and stretch very, very little, and it is very uncomfortable compared to a chair that isn't designed with an all-steel frame that is meant to cradle you in one static position, like a racer. 4. Mechanisms are less complex Racers for sure. Its because they are the cheapest, lowest end mechs on the market. Its why they have a center tilt mech with terrible tension adjustments. The recline point is at the worst point possible, which makes reclining much more difficult than any of the other mechanisms because you are fighting gravity and your body weight. And yes, hitting your knees is a problem. We mention it on Racers because this is not a problem on a chair with a proper mechanism. Mentioning that you may roll over your toe doesn't make a ton of sense because all chairs have wheels and therefore all share the same risk. We are talking about different recline mechs here and how they function differently. 5. I completely disagree that chairs are easy to repair, especially a DxRacer. Its why there is so much focus on warranties on the chair market. The parts are not readily available and accessible. they are not easy to swap and repair and low end chairs like DXRacer hardly hold up long enough to be worth repairing.15 years on a DxRacer? No Shot. -Ryan

    • @jakubkazmierczak1837
      @jakubkazmierczak1837 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@btodtv They don't but it does not mean that they don't need. Science of 'proper posture' did not change vastly for 13 years, and it's based on ideas from 1970. 2. False. First of all every spine is different, every cushion is different, every foam is different. There are multiple ideas for lumbar support, from rolled towel to memory foam cushion. They come in different shapes and density which are in fact do impact your posture. You do realize that you can easly swap pillow filling dont you? 3. Sorry lad you said that it has none, as I said it was tendentious, now you prove my point. "You don't have ANY freedom of movement" does not equal 'very, very little', funny, english is not my first language and I understand it better than you. 4. Yes I do understand your point, but hitting your knees is your stupidity just like rolling over toes is. It's not the point against more simple mechs. I do find your opinion on 'hard recline' hard to believe as I have no problem with it at all. Even now I have no problems and I can go lower on string tension, which in fact you do not even care to mention that you have option to set it. No wonder why I saw ppl being amazed that there is actual big f knob under the base. 5. Lad, I did bought 2012 DX racer formula myself with damaged upholstery on the base, sqaeking like crazy. First you use lithium grease on every mechanical part, base bolts, clean and check bearing condition, grease, seal, grease, wheels grease or change (super simple). You have clear info how to do that on YT. Because those parts are easly avaible you can find them in every office chair that ends up in a dumpster for free. As for upholstery jopb, DX racer base cushion is super simple to remove it was my first time ever using needle and all modifications took me one day. Payed for a chair 12 USD, 28 USD for parts, material, new cushions from gt omega sidemen edition and roller skate style wheels. Show me any warranty that is cheaper than 28 USD and one day job which makes a chair even better in the end. I have a second one waiting to be repaired and sold for profit. Lad you know nothing about chair repair for sure. If you want I can PM you my chair photo, so you can see serial no. for yourself. Don't try to fool ppl Ryan, unless there is backseat upholstery dmg which I will try next time doing myself with new project every part of the chair can be repaired even for free with ease, and all parts are avaible on the market cuz these are not gaming chair parts - these are office chair parts with a fancy chair on top. Only broken steel frame can make chair a lost cause. You can buy used base or backrest from different chair thought but sometimes you have to be patient. You mentiones focus on warranties - yes - companies do care about warranties, offices need to be operational, there is no option to repair chair by the company and workers have to sit on something. There is also the lazy market, and from that lazy, uneducated or simply "i have no time for such thing' market when they're out of warranty I do buy chairs for lautghtable prices and sell those to the same 'lazy do DIY but I have no cash for a new fancy chair'.

I agree with everything conveyed in this video. Absolutely hit the nail on the head. I think if your setup permits you should get a task chair for wfh and a relaxing chair for when you want to relax. Combining them together is asking for a bad time!

Definitely give that a go, if our backs are busted in a similar way that may just be it.

I find gaming chair seating to be larger and more plush, and that the pillow as lumbar support is better than frame based lumbar support. Office chair seating requires you to sit in a certain position, often resting your back on the back of the chair. You can rest your back on a gaming chair but pillow as lumbar support allows you to also sit forward in a variety of positions. The tilt lock on gaming chairs allows you to tilt your chair in a more comfortable position. For me, as someone working in a chair for 10 hours a day, office chairs look underwhelmingly designed, and they sit the same way too. I don't see the value in a Herman Miller Embody, Aeron, Stealcase Leap V2.

It comes down to where the customers place the value. How many people wear uncomfortable clothes because they are stylish? I have never climbed inside a sports car that did not have issues getting in or getting out or not feeling every bump on the road. How many bikers ride bikes with rigid seats for comfort? Ergo-chairs are for people who work in an office environment and put a lot of hours sitting down. who wants to sit down and relax on a gaming chair? They are upright and rigid because while you are gaming, you are squirming around in any case. To me, what you have to watch out for is the actual chassis, the wheels, the arm-wobble and the gas cylinder that controls the height. Poor wheels drag, wobbly arms can be a pain in the neck and if the gas cylinder starts to loose pressure, then it is trash.

I think a big point missed in this review is that the gaming chairs use Cold Cure Foam (at least in the Secretlab) or some similar alternative.
The big issue with this foam is that it starts out extremely firm, almost unforgiving, because by design it cannot lose its shape or the warranty will constantly require the company to replace parts. Despite this, I've found through experience that the foam can still become slightly damaged or rippeled under the fabric through extended use. You can feel little divots or tears that form in the material in time and can cause discomfort.
In a way, its the worst of both worlds, a chair that is overly firm but also slowly disintegrates compared to a mesh chair.
The other thing to consider with gaming chairs is that they are so large and so much material is used to construct the chair, that they cost a lot to manufacture. To keep costs down, corners are cut on quality of materials, or R&D.

I like how some ppl get so triggered when you trash gaming chairs by exposing the BS they are. If you want to mess up your back and flush money down the toilet, be my guest.

Gaming insinuates nothing but design trends and RGB lights.

True. I'd say "gaming" mice are the one of the few products that can't be called a total scam though. Build quality ain't the best of course, but at the same time what non gaming mouse has as many buttons as an MMO mouse?
