    I added the same Carbide Router. Works great. a side note, I connected the DC wires from the original motor to a DC relay that turns the 120v volt to an outlet that I mounted by the machine. This allows me to have on and off control that works from the program. Ran three programs with no problems. This motor is more robust than the original one and allows deeper cuts and higher feeds

      I plan on doing a lot more now that I have a better router/spindle. The stock one was nice but just not high enough rpm.

    Nice video! I hope to get my Proverxl 4030 soon and I plan on several of these upgrades. BTW, it looks like the link in the description for the connectors is the same as the extrusion.

    The connector link takes me back to the Aluminum Extrusion page... Also, what length extrusion? 300mm or 400 mm I love the upgrades you did and will be adding those to mine as well. Thanks!

    Do you think it'd be solid enough to mill aluminum with the extra center bracket you added, but without the spoil board installed? I need to mill some cast aluminum enclosures that are too tall for the PROVerXML, but if I could bolt them to the center bracket and they would fit. Just not sure if that setup would be stable enough...

    I have been struggling to find a dewalt also. Good to know there is an easy mount for others.

      This mount seems to work really well. There are a few other aluminum ones I've seen on Amazon and online. I was trying to get someone to make a 3D printed one but everyone I looked at wanted $150 or more.

      The Harbor Freight brand Bauer mini router is the same as the Makita in all ways that matter. I bought it to use with something that was certified to work with the Makita, and everything matched perfectly. Only $70. It works perfectly with the router mount that comes with the 4030

    Great video as always! Just wondering is the 65mm mount goes directly to the Z axis screw holes? I am also considering purchasing it for the Makita router which also has a 65mm diamter housing

    • @windsorwoodcraft
      @windsorwoodcraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 65mm mount will fasten into the t nut slots on the face of the Z axis extrusion. There are a couple different mounting position holes on the 65mm mount.

    I like the acrylic dust baffles! Did you make them? I just did the DeWalt upgrade, and it's a beast compared to the stock spindle motor. I'm sure you'll be equally or more impressed with the Carbide router. That extra RPM range will make a big difference. I kinda wish I'd have gone that rout, instead of the DeWalt. Maybe once it burns up on me, I'll swap over to what you have. Thanks or sharing!

    • @windsorwoodcraft
      @windsorwoodcraft  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did make the dust baffles myself. I clamped a piece of acrylic between two pieces of wood/metal and heated with a heat propane torch. Can also use a heat gun. The extra rpm range of the Carbide router is nice along with the extra long power cord, but other than that, the they are very similar. Can't go wrong with either one.

    Hello. I am thinking about buying this machine and i was wondering if you know or if you tried, what is the thickest piece of wood you can cut with a straight router bit. I hope you can give me some light about the matter. Thank you! (Ps. I want to cut wood about 50 to 60 millimeters, and what kind of bit should I use!) :) Hope to hear your opinion!

    • @windsorwoodcraft
      @windsorwoodcraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have cut 50mm thick cherry hardwood with thus machine. I used a 1/4" endmill with 2 flutes. Just have to take it slow with the feed rate and shallow depths of cut.

  • @practicalmaker83
    @practicalmaker83 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, could you share the cutting precision of the machine, as with mine i am in a real trouble, after fixing the mechanical backlashes, it is cutting about 1mm larger! , When jogging it without any load, the traveled distance is precise, with load is smaller, i suspect some firmware compensation which is not active when jogging.

    • @windsorwoodcraft
      @windsorwoodcraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have done several test cuts and the accuracy is usually within 0.001. But the accuracy could also be affected by how fast and deep you are trying to cut and what material you are cutting. If you try to go to fast, your machine could be skipping steps or jumping off the toolpath. I also have not had any issues with backlash since I have been using it. There is a notice on the ProverXL 4030 section of the Sainsmart website that states you should not update the firmware as it could make the control board operate incorrectly. I have not updated the firmware on my machine so I don't know how that could affect the accuracy.

      @laszlofabian 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@windsorwoodcraft Thanks a lot for you reply, this is quite a crucial information for me. I did got one quite early, so this might explain the mechanical issues i have seen. I have a good knowledge of electronics/mechanics, until know i was just doing test cuts in wood, and not even getting close to the limits of the machine. Any sort of backlash or mechanical flex woudl eventually translate in negative errors, but i was seeing positive ones, about 1mm larger pieces cut out :) Updating the firmware is off course never recommended, it is very intrusive and many things can (and will) go wrong, but with my background i took the leep :) Anyway i couldn't really use the machine with this strange positive offset, curious where the path will lead, either to a bricked controller or to a usable, precise machine :)

    • @windsorwoodcraft
      @windsorwoodcraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@laszlofabian Have you looked at the bit while the machine is turned on to check if the bit is spinning straight? I did have a problem with the motor in my machine that was the result of the motor bearings going bad. This caused the machine to make a cut that was 0.0625 inches larger than intended.

    • @laszlofabian
      @laszlofabian 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@windsorwoodcraft That was the first thing i checked, i measured the run out, measured the cut out piece size and the cut out hole size and recalculated the cutting width, they are correct, 1/8 size
