Delightful and thorough as always! Well done!
Informative and very well produced video.
I'm stealing the idea for the "bit-setter" and adding it to my much smaller 3018Pro. Thanks for the tip.
Easiest way I get ER11 collets out of the nut is to take my thumb and press it on the side of the collet and with my other hand turn the nut and collet. Not a lot of pressure is needed. The collet will find the right spot and pop out. It took me years to figure that out.
Love how detailed you make the videos. Plz keep it up.
Could you do a review of the genmitsu 4040 pro?

A great review!
Thanks
Nice product 👍
Great Video 😀. Can you tell us what bits, speeds and feeds you used for the wasteboard? Thank you
Love your vids!
Do stepcraft m series
greetings, what is your opinion about these machines, is it worth buying
im only new to cnc but. why dont you cut in the direction of the bits blade. from left to right with a clockwise spinning spindle.
With aluminium it is usually better to climb cut rather than conventional cut. Try a google search on climb vs conventional cuts, you will find tons of info about it.
Thanks for sharing. Is this one better than the Foxalien Vasto Cnc?
No
This would be a handy piece of gear, I'm working on making a slip form for pouring Aircrete dome homes on my channel and this would make it a lot faster that's for sure!
hi, would you recommend the 6050 over the 3030 pro for milling aluminum parts for rc models?
I haven’t looked at the Sainsmart 3030 pro max but it is probably the better option for aluminum. Alternatively the foxalien wm3020 is good.
Can you please show your Fusion 360 process for creating the stand?
I will put that on the list. Thanks.
Very impressive, love your tricks with the Z probe. (Nice hearing PROPER pronunciation of ZED for a change!!)
Thanks John.
How do compare this with the FoxAlien Vasto? I like the ball screws on the Vasto, but like the size of the 6050.
It really depends what you want to use it for.
The Prover XL 6050 is good for wood, good working area and has a good z height clearance / range.
The Vasto is better for metal but has a lower z clearance. They also have a larger version.
@@techydiy Looking to do some aluminum milling as well. I understand both would need spindle upgrade. Is the stepper performance higher on the 6050? Could the 6050 cut metal with z-axis upgrade or do the lead screws hold it back?
It cuts aluminium fine. If you want to cut a mix of materials its a decent option.
Do you like Foxalien Vasto more or sainsmart proverxl 6050 plus ? not sure which to pick
Vasto, but the 6050 has greater clearance height.
Thanks for the video. I just purchased this machine and I’m having issues running my files. I also use Fusion 360 to generate my gcode. My machine connects and responds to jogs, homing, z probe. When I run. Y files the machine starts and runs the z up till it faults on the limit switch. I’ve run a prover 3018 for several years with no issue. Can you tell me which generic 3 axis machine you’re using to generate your code and are you changing and settings for it?
Thx
Use a generic 3 axis machine profile and the grbl post processor.
When you post process:
Look for "Post properties" - "Safe Retracts and home positioning"
and set "safe retracts to "Clearance height"
@@techydiy thanks that helped me find my problem
How is it programming and design ? Do you have this cnc milling programing books?
You have to use external software. Fusion 360, Vcarve, Carveco, Easel etc.
Great Vid, thanks! I just purchased one after your review pushed me over the edge.
Could you provide the link to the updated post-processor? I cannot seem to find it. Thanks!

@@techydiy thanks so much!
@@techydiy My machine arrived and is set up. Would you be willing to share the Fusion model for the spoilboard? Or is making one in Fusion a rite of passage for aspiring CNC woodworkers? :)
You want and need skill with a CNC. Those skills are best learned by building things you need . Each thing represents a challenge and skills learned. Rather than just copy paste it is much better to learn. There are millions of tutorials.
Hello I'm new to cnc and I'm looking for a machine and thus one seems to fit the build. Do you think it will handle steel ok and how do you like this machine. Overall I want a machine that can do metals. Do you think this machine is rigid? One more question. Could you add ball screws instead of lead screws to this machine easily
If you are primarily looking at milling metals, especially steel, then you should really get a mill rather than a cnc router.
Changing to ballscrews won't be "easy".
@techydiy ok I'm thinking on going to the bulkman ultimate bee cnc kit it has linear rails and ball screws. Can you try and do a video on this machine
I had the same incompatibility problem between fusion and openbuild control, which I usually use.
I solved, after freaking out for 2 hours, using UGS platform
That is useful to know. Thanks.
@@techydiy did you get same lockup using other Cad/Cam software or just Fusion? Is it likely a problem with Fusion or Openbuilds sender if it works ok in UGS?
@@techydiy did you get same lockup using other Cad/Cam software or just Fusion? Is it likely a problem with Fusion or Openbuilds sender if it works ok in UGS?
It seems to be a fusion post processor related problem. It isn't confined to just this machine.
UGS probably ignores the comments and does not send them on to the grbl firmware, which would have the same effect as disabling the comments in the post processor. It was easy to fix, so I didn't investigate much further.
Hello, Would you mind sharing your waste board design file or a way to purchase the file from you? Thanks in advance
It wasn’t created to be distributed , so it needs some work before I will make it available.
It is possible to get your file?👍
Also possible to milling plexiglass? Thx
Plexiglass is a brand name for clear cast acrylic, which it can mill and is shown in the video.
@@techydiy really? Looks it 3 times and there was no plexiglass to see? Video time?
Sorry, I was looking at another video when I answered. Yes, it will cut acrylic, pretty much an cnc router will cut acrylic, the easiest to cut is cast acrylic, extruded acrylic melts easily.
Do I get a prize if I can guess what song you integrated into your G-Code via speed adjustments in the spindle?
Yes
what would you recommend, i need to engrave small letters & numbers on brass keys, and mill aluminum & steel.
This or the FoxAlien Vasto?
Have you a fav CNC machine to date in terms of bang for buck
No not really, you pretty much get what you pay for. Generally higher performance comes at a higher price.
cutting slots,, why is it going in circles and not in a straight line to remove material.
It is an adaptive tool path (Search for Trochoidal Milling).
@@techydiy is that a better way or is it just the way you were showing in the video?
It uses more of the end mill cutting edge length, so less wear & tear, less load on the spindle motor and usually gives better results.
@@techydiy
Ok. Thank you so much for replying and giving me the info.😊
Wow, no ball screws? :-/
