Justin the reason you hit that Roland outside of track range is the GBU-24 has inertial guidance. It will continue to track the last know location till impact. So as long as the target doesn’t move it will still hit. Whereas the GBU-10’s, 12’s and the 16’s will just lose it the moment you break track and assumes a dumb bomb trajectory. So typically when I use guided bombs I try to use the GBU-24’s for the anti air then use whatever I have left for tanks since you don’t have to evade tanks. (Unless it’s a 2S38 which you likely won’t know is shooting at you until it hits you)
Yeah Gaijin was super lazy on the Gripen C. It has an expanded armory of PGMs and air to air missiles. I know AMRAAMs aren't in the game (yet) but the IRIS-T was operational before the JAS39C and it is compatible as a unique IR missile. It should also have something more than just the Skyflash. AIM-7M at least. I don't think South Africa ever even used Sparrows on their JAS39s since they were obsolete by the time they took delivery in 2006. Instead Gaijin just did another copy paste job.
@@dratsfoiledagain243 It's 25km* (citation needed) at altitude under ideal conditions against non maneuvering targets. Right that's what I assumed but I didn't know for sure if the specific SAAF Gripen C that's in the game used them as interim solutions between the R-Darter being retired and Martin BVR missiles entering service with the SAAF. I'm 99% sure they didn't tho since the Skyflash is just an AIM-7E2 which is ancient as far as missiles go.@@BufferThunder
Yes it'll perform better than an AIM-9 but low altitude it's not going that much farther especially because, and this is important, it's a video game and Gaijin can balance it. The Gripen C having the best IR missile wouldn't be abnormal since it is a 12.3 top tier jet from the newest patch.@@dratsfoiledagain243
To be fair, although they have only ever used a couple for training jet's, Britain is actually pretty involved in the development of the Gripen C and above, helping modernise it to NATO standard, providing armament and being an export partner, so it's worked out pretty well that they get one.
'I don't know my foxes' Fox 1: Semi Active Radar Homing (Sparrows, R-27ERs, etc.) Fox 2: InfraRed (AIM-9s {except the C} and the like) Fox 3: Active Radar Homing (AIM-54, AIM-120, R-77, etc)
Just asking if you know there is gun lead for aircraft in newer jets when you radar lock ? I'm asking that cuz you used balistic comp for ground when shoting at that SU-25 (around 22min of vid)
I mean, Britain helped bring the C and above thing up to NATO standards, provided the weaponry and is an export partner, plus they needed a top tier jet more as they've had the worst top tier lineup for a few patches now, so I'd say it's fair.
To dodge the Aim-9M's, you have to spam the flare key and dodge while it's tracking because the seeker head turns off. The missile then predicts your future position while the seeker head is off, which is why a few flares do nothing against them
AFIK & FYI, 'Gripen' translates to 'The Gryphon'(or The Griffin/The Griffon) or if its a verb 'Arrested'/'caught' And 'Draken' -translates to the dragon or the kite. 'Viggen' translates to the bolt (thunderbolt) or the tufted duck. 'En Grip' ='one Gryphon'
Regarding the missile callouts/Fox codes: Fox 1 is used for SARH missiles, such as Aim-7. Radar missiles dependant on a direct radar lock from the jet firing them. Fox 2 is for IR guided missiles, such as Aim-9. Fox 3 is for entirely independent radar missiles, such as the Phoenix.
The sad part is, the Tornado was solely build for groundpounding and killing ships and GJ botched it. The tornado is able to fly 50m above ground and has a autopilot for it. I´m happy that UK got a good cas, but the tornado in real life should do the job aswell.
Also, Gaijin nerfs every western equipment. The stormer for example. Also, Ive seen multiple Pantsirs(basically a fucking normal truck) eat Mavericks like they were M80's. Its such bs.
The only thing mavericks are decent for now is taking out anti-air and even then they still fail some times, I actually got a non-penetration in a FlakRakRad a few days ago and it's not uncommon to get only critical hits in light vehicles. Also, I never use gears and I think it should give you a 1 minute repair time.
The funnest and sneakiest way to turn off the radar in the Gripen is to put it in HMD mode then toggle the radar on or off from there. Also, if you’re not using your targeting pod to lock ground targets make sure you point it in any direction you want to spot enemies in. It will spot them up to 20km instead of the 8km spotting when you don’t use the pod
i wonder how the typhoon (eurofighter ) would peform sins its nearly the same like the gripen but just got better engines that can accelerate in the supersonic range even without afterburner, and got to guidet bomb´s and aa missels .
Depends on genereation as allways but they are close in performance thru the program. The Typhoon has more power but more drag. Basically the difference is payload...
Jas39E can also go supersonic without using the afterburner due to an upgraded engine, think it's known as supercruse. But yes typhoon and gripen shares a lot of systems as well as missiles it can carry.
It would be kind of cool if they made props harder to lock with IR missiles as they are inherently difficult due to their extremely low temp compared to a jet exhaust.
They are very difficult to lock with non all aspect ir missile but all aspect missile like the AIM-9M in the video have no difficulties locking a prop from sub 3km which is normal because those kind of missile don't need much heat to lock on and sub 3km is still way closer than the distance they can lock a jet

18:08 AIM-9Ms are best dodged by flare dumping and changing course. the long and short is AIM-9Ms switch their IR seeker off if they detect flares and work off inertial guidance (unlike Magic 2s, and R-73s which reduce the Seeker FOV as it closes in on the target) - so actions on - *AIM-9M fired* are: *Disengage AB* -> *Deploy Flares* (as many as time allows, and ideally in a burst) -> *Manouevre to avoid*, so when the seeker switches back on, it doesn't find you, and the inertial guidance doesn't get it to slam into you. I’m about to grind Sweden just to get this. It’ll be a while until the Rafale is introduced, so might as well as grind another tree. Now when is it Japan’s turn though?
