I am Hindu jat and hamare 5 gotra chhodte hai(father, mother, Nani,Dadi and pardadi)and gotra does not mean family only it means that blood line lineage (like I'm Kaler so we can't marry any Kaler in world ) it's complex. Plus anyone from same village is considered brothers and sisters every gotra and Cast😊 how intelligent our ancestors were ❤

Me and my two other siblings suffer from genetic disorders because our parents were cousins. My sister suffers from a chronic bone diseases which has no cure in the world at the moment. I am among the brighest students throughout my educational career, which led to many of my chachu/phupho/khala families showing interest in me for their daughters. This included a proposal from a crore patti uncle and had I accepted that, I would have no need to do any work ever again in my life. Alhamdulilah, I preferred to marry out of my family and went agaisnt all the so-called khandan. The whole khandan no longer talk to us for this reason, but I am proud that I made the right deicision. I want to add something as a Pakistani Hindu living in Pakistan. All Hindus in Pakistan still follow the ancestors' rule. My Gotra, which I inherited from my father and forefathers, and my mother's Gotra and my grandmother's Gotra are different because they came from the outside family. I can only marry a girl whose father, mother, and grandmother's Gotra are unmatched by mine. This means I can't marry in the family if one of the Gotra gets a match with anyone. Marrying in mutual Gotra is strictly prohibited.

Cousin marriage has become a serious problem in our villages.
10-12 years ago, a child died due to thalassemia. Two years ago, another boy from the same family died due to thalassemia. Now 3 more children of the same family have thalassemia.
My teacher's son has thalassemia. And now that the teacher has done blood tests on his family, 70% of the family members have thalassemia. And now this problem is getting even worse.
Due to cousin marriage, many children in another family in our villages are mentally and physically disabled. 2 children were died due to this issue last year.
Another family has children suffering from anemia. In another family, a little girl is suffering from thalassemia.
My family has also thought of cousin marriage. But for the last 3 years I have been having a heated discussion with my family on cousin marriage and have been openly opposing cousin marriage. I have told my family in clear words that I would rather die than marrying cousin.
Now, as my younger brother is doing MBBS, he is also opposing family, exposing downsides of cousin marriage and supporting me.

Just like if a son tries to have a relation with his own mother will be frowned upon in muslims(ofcos in Hindus/Christian’s etc), same is with cousins. Ofcos there are cases where due to Infatuation people do such things, but those are illegal and a blasphamy. I mean, instead of talking shit, try to search for the facts! There are certain things which are haram like eating pork! Imagine, a Hindu accusing a Muslim of secretly eating pork and doing her mom?! It will be stupid and baseless right? But not completely impossible! Just like that marrying/keeping affair with cousins is a big no no!
Also, in india South Indians hindu marry within cousins. So no, it is not all Hindu, but a regional thing. North Indians hindu don’t do that at all!!

I am a Hindu from West Bengal, India. In Bengal we do not marry if our GOTRA is same. Since my cousin share same Gotra hence there is no question of marring a cousin in Hindu Bengali family. Gotra refers to ancestral linage, if Gotra is same then your ancestral linage is same and you are prohibited to marry that person as per cultural norms. Marrying a person with same GOTRA is counted as incest in our culture and looked down upon society.
In North India things are more strict they follows the GOTRA concept and along with that their rules are little different for example in Haryana, UP or Uttarakhand, you are prohibited to marry from same village because they think if a boy or girl is gown in same area then they became brother-sister by default.
However in South India and North East, things are little different. Among Tamilians and Andhra Hindus they do cousin marriage so as to keep the wealth of the family intact. There could be other reasons too why they are allowed to do so but I have no idea regarding, when I heard about it I was shocked to know about it.

It's important to understand that cousin marriage isn’t the sole reason for the birth of children with genetic defects. According to scientific research, even in non-cousin marriages, there's a 4% chance of having a child with a genetic condition, while in cousin marriages, this increases slightly to 6%. I personally know two families where the children were born with mental health issues, and the parents weren’t cousins. Genetic disorders can occur for many reasons, and while cousin marriage might slightly raise the risk, it’s not the only factor.

There are around 25 children in my family who are blind by birth and the root cause is cousin marriages. I refused to marry my cousin, which ended up on ending family ties with that family because they don't understand. Another problem is girls are more than boys, and it is difficult to find a husband for them. Anyways, my parents partially understood this issue and they stood up with me despite social pressure from many elders. I hope the other side will understand this one day.

What he said is not really true. Muslims of Kashmir are different from Punjabi, Sindhi, Pathan and Baloch Muslims in this regard. However, Jammu and Kashmir is the 5th highest state when it comes to cousin marriages in India, with only Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu ahead of JnK.
And this little contribution for J&K is solely due to Muslims of J&K. Infact I would argue the presence of Hindus in Jammu is the reason why your state numbers are not so high in cousin marriages.

In rural India, marriages between families from the same village are often avoided, as they are considered akin to siblings. This practice persists in the southern parts of India, though it has declined due to increasing awareness. However, the percentage of endogamous marriages remains higher among Indian Muslims. If you visit a government hospital, you'll find a disproportionately higher number of Muslim patients suffering from genetic disorders due to the prevalence of such marriages

your big fan Sir but to be honest these wealth and power consolidation point is just valid for top 1%.
In my family its a very common practice to do cousin marriages. Both of my elder brothers are marries with my cousins.
There are 2 reasons for this practice in general
1st one is lack of awareness, when I told my parents that I am not going to marry my cousin due to health issues they said all marriages in our family are cousin marriages and we didn't see any medical issue so its a bullshit, that was there stance.
2nd reason is very important, parents usually see our cousins grow in front of themselves they see there behaviours and other attributes for almost 20 years and they can easily see which type of boy or girls they are going to choose. On the other hand marrying a girl form outside of your family is a complete bet because its obvious you cant judge the personality of a person in 4 to 5 meetings as in our culture these decisions are made by parents not kids so its very difficult to assess the person.
(Its the main reason in our family it can defer in other families.)
keep making these type of videos as they are very informative for our people.

The ancestral record part is very apt Junaid. Our family has records of our last 20 generations not just men but women. For further records, we will have to visit Kashi because most of the lineage records are placed in the holy cities of Hindus which our forefathers visited in their lifetime. This record is not only used during marriages but during Pitru Paksha also. It is a common practice among Hindus when we honor our almost last 2 or 3 generations of Fathers, Mothers, and Siblings by offering them food and seeking their blessings. By the way, the Gotra of my family is Kashyap and my mother's gotra is Bharadwaj.

In many Pakistani communities, cousin marriages are common, especially within the middle and lower classes. Here's why people often choose this path:
Some families strictly believe in marrying within the family ("hum khandaan main hi shaadi karte hain"). Even in the absence of suitable proposals, marrying outside the family is not considered an option.
Society often expects individuals to marry within their family circle, reinforcing the tradition and discouraging outside matches.
Marrying cousins ensures trust and familiarity, as families already know each other’s background, character, and reputation.
Some believe cousin marriages help preserve cultural and familial values, which they fear could be diluted with outside marriages.

What a great video! I don’t usually leave comments on videos, but this is an issue that must be addressed. Some may bring up the marriage of Hazrat Fatima (AS) and Hazrat Ali (AS) as an example, but it's important to understand that the Prophet never openly endorsed cousin marriage. In the case of Hazrat Ali and Fatima (AS), there was already a deep bond between them, and the Prophet found no better man for his daughter than Ali (AS). Uthman (AS) was already married to two of the Prophet’s daughters, and Abu Bakr (RA) and Umar (RA) were older. Ali (AS) was young, and the Prophet had known him since he was nine years old. But again, the Prophet never explicitly encouraged cousin marriage for others. He left it as an option, just as he left the options for divorce or shaving body hair.
With advancements in science, we now understand more about genetics and health risks that were unknown 1,400 years ago. The Prophet never declared that cousin marriage is necessarily good, nor did he prohibit it. Therefore, it's not a matter of challenging his prophecy or doubting his guidance. We are simply applying new knowledge to make choices that reflect both faith and reason. It is also important to understand that the Prophet did not possess knowledge of everything in the universe; rather, he knew only what Allah had revealed to him.

I believe the genetic part is the absolute difficult reality of the risk people are taking. Genetic tests should become more popular in countries like pak to bring awareness of potential danger factors. Whether or not they are cousins isn't going to help if there are underlying genetic illnesses. My own cousin married outside the family and extensive genetic issues arose amongst all her children. Truly breaks my heart.
Same happened to my aunt, same happened to my friend, same happened to my neighbor. All non cousin marriage and severe very scary genetic issues that weren't in our family. There should be more awareness of genetic concerns in each family so they can't hide behind good manners and decorum and expensive walima parties. All these new generation babies are suffering immensely 💔

This is the comment I was looking for. The rate is 6 percent for cousin marriages and 4 percent for non-cousin marriages. This doesn’t mean that every child in a mental hospital is the result of cousin marriage.
Ultimately, it's only God who can bless a family with a healthy baby. I’ve personally met two families who had children with health issues, and neither marriage was between cousins. In fact, their families hadn’t even known each other before the marriage.
On the other hand my friends parents were cousins. He and his siblings are academically bright student and doing well in their life.
