I think the reason that thief in Renais Castle crashed the game is because on the complete _opposite_ side of the map, there are three chests sitting without a locked door. Making assumptions from whoisthisgit's videos experimenting with FE GBA cheat codes -- namely the ones that increase movement -- if a unit moves in too erratic a pattern with movement higher than they're naturally supposed to have, sometimes they just...do things. I'm talking running in circles, bobbing and weaving on-screen and off-screen...usually off-screen, and generally just messing things up. Since Castle Renais is a castle, the thief had to take a rather winding route to get to the chests -- which I think it prioritizes over doors, and this route must have gotten messed up. When he tried to open the "chest," it froze the game, since there was no chest for him to open.
But the thief had already taken his turn to open the door, I think it was definitely the Great Knights trying to run the entire lap around the map which broke it.
When you look at the class's sprite in FEBuilder. I believe in the bottom right there should be blue text that says "Edit Moving Sprite" or something to that effect. There, you can change the moving sprite and assure the correct API is chosen. The API ensures certain bothersome visual bugs dont happen from what I understand.
I didn't think this was possible on an ironman but I really overestimated the sacred stones AI, super cool run! Still Genuinely confused why so many units went for Seth but only the ppl who made FE 8 would know.

Fe builder is fun to play around with. I believe the reason why Joshua's moving sprite is still the general is because the moving animation is linked to the ID button next to the class' name. If you click that button it open an extra menu that let's you play around with the moving animations, you can export the image from the class you want and import it to the class you want to edit. Every new class defaults to lord and it took me a while to figure out how to change it
Atrocious hit rates and enemies that don't die in one round. I don't think it would be possible in Binding Blade without massive support bonuses abuse.
This is a FE challenge I'd love to watch as a series! I can imagine some games like Genealogy and Binding Blade would be horrendous with this challenge.

Really enjoying this video- I would say it would be cool to see a few more level ups during the run. There's a lot of thought going into prioritizing everyone appropriately. It's interesting how much information and strategy you can compile without it being a full hour video- but watching leveling is cool to glimpse how well the unit is developing. Excited to check out some more of your videos ~
In case you n ever figured how to change the "moving sprite animation" It's in the "advanced editors" and "moving map anims" When you copy a unit onto another, it doesn't change the moving map anim, sadly, so you have to change it manually.
OOOO I remember making a suggestion for a challenge like this on Excelblem’s 0 movement Sacred Stones video. Nice to see that it’s possible! I kinda doubt this will be possible in other FE games, though maybe you could balance it out by giving your own units the extra move too?

do this for fe 6 next. also, the movement sprite issue is a rather easy fix. from the character edit screen, click on the "support class" button, this should take you to the class editor for that memory slot. click on the map sprite to the right of the portrait, this takes you to the map sprite editor. from there you can click on the "jump to moving map anim" link and you should be able to change the moving sprite to whatever you need it to be. some saving/downloading/uploading of sprite files may be needed.
Some characters will be incapped so as to remain in the plot I don't recall the full list, but its like, Seth, Innes, L'Arachel, Dozla technically but he doesn't get many lines, and I wanna say Dussel

Them is used in the singular here, which is a valid usage of the word to describe something of indeterminate or irrelevant gender, also the word you're looking for is Plural, and the grammar of your statement is also off, its "An archer" not "a archer", maybe check your own English before you start trying to correct others

It would be really interesting to see this challenge for a game from 1-5, though I doubt for many of them it would be super possible. 1 is definitely interesting since I know the enemy AI in that game will prioritize Marth over anyone else no matter what (at least as far as I saw), so there could maybe be some potential there. Reinforcements in that game can be very painful, though.
In case you still don't understand the suicidal units AI, fe8 has a unique AI which is an attack OR move command so they can only hurt you if they start their turn right next to your units. Not sure to what end though
I'd like to see this challenge in Path of Radiance, mainly because of Black Knight spawns and the one chapter where you have to fight Naesala. Not sure how easy it would be to do this for a Gamecube game, though.
Probably not as hard as it sounds. The black knight doesn't spawn until you're in range of the boss so you would just stay out of the boss's range til youre ready to dash in and kill him and immediately clear the map. For Naesala, use someone as a meat shield for the first enemy phase (PoR has like 50 units), then on player phase have reyson talk to him.
i never played any type of fe game nor have i consumed much content. this is my first time watching any gameplay….jesus christ why did so many units get killed in no time flat on the last chapter?
The things I love about “easy” games and why FE8 is still my favorite is because it opens immense room for challenge runs to even let more casual players have a crack at it.
i wonder what would be the most ridiculous map in fe with this enemy buff. it's not as easy as to say final map as you have to consider what your units can do when they reach that map (were not considering beating all maps beforehand with this buff), and it's also not about the map with the most enemies as nosferatu robin would not care if there 100 enemies on the map or just one
I imagine the hardest maps to do this in would be in games with very high stats on units, but also relatively limited options on the player's end that keep you from making super broken cheese builds. Maybe an earlygame Radiant Dawn map?
I'm pretty sure Battle Before Dawn would be literally impossible assuming the AI prioritizes Zephiel like usual and doesn't go straight for your units. Dunno about maps that would be ridiculous but still possible, though.

Could it be that the thief's pathing made it go over a wall tile or something? I think if you put wall tiles into cutscenes a crash also happens.

you can fix the map animations via an option called "moving map anims" or something similar in FEBuilder
