Using broken weapons OTHER than for proficiency training?! That’s Maddening……in more ways than Maddening Mode itself. Props on this run. It’s frustrating getting everything set up from the moment the game begins and it doesn’t get any easier as you progress further. The 99 Turn Limit was especially frustrating to deal with if the main strategy was heavy turtle Strats early game. 41:52 I find this amusing.
Dimitri casually reminding everyone why he's the best unit in three houses. He litteraly doesnt need a good weapon kill everylast one of them. In fact if he had the unarmed skill that let him fight with his bare hands he would be even more deadly then with these broken weapons.

Neat run. That enemy female warmaster, and I think Hilda as an enemy in later chapters also being a warmaster, makes it so, so frustrating that Three Houses has the stupid gender lock classes again like earlier games after Fates mostly got rid of it, and it's inexcusable that they made several of the highest tier classes for specific types gender locked, like the female only master mage gremory or the flying mage that's also female only, and the male characters having access to warmaster while female characters don't
What's funny about that female warmaster is that Hilda is _not_ a warmaster if she sticks with Claude. Only her replacement is. And I believe the generic just uses the outfit from the previous class.
Just an FYI broken weapons also exist so that if you break a weapon it's not gone forever and you can just get it repaired after the battle, like in FE4.

@densecabbage2057 you could probably still beat the map, but you definitely need another plan for the Hubert+Hilda+Ferdinand part. The turn limit is too limited to slow down, but the other tanks probably don't have the defense to take all three at once. I don't know remember how the map is layed out in a golden deer playthrough, but Rapheal might be able to handle whoever replaces Hilda and Hubert without magic. Meanwhile the rest of the army jumps Ferdinand. Then again I think black eagles are the squad on the left in golden deer, so IDK, it might be a very different fight in general.
@densecabbage2057 you are all looking at a defense wall, which is definitely valuable, but you are also not considering the fact that Ignatz build in Hit +20, meaning more reliable damage and kills, meaning less atk to take from the enemies.
@@Votris11 Ignatz would make things more consistent but for the mock battle the only strategy we know works requires a tank to wear down a large number of enemies simultaneously. That's why we're talking about Raphael. If Ignatz tried to fight more than one enemy at a time he would likely die. That being said since Raphael can't take as many enemies as dedue could, Ignatz might be able to take some of the pressure off thanks to his consistency.

My strategy would have been war master Ignatz with hit plus twenty, and death blow. And a death blow hit plus twenty sword master Felix. Both would have accuracy rings. Dimitri in dark bishop for heart seeker and he would have hit plus twenty and death blow. Also he gets a ring as well, if there isn’t enough accuracy rings, avo rings would suffice.

That's why some people like it, some people hate it and the majority never even play it. Some Thracia mechanics return later in the series, especially in Fates (like escape maps and capture) but the majority never appeared again (like healing staves that can miss, movement stars and fatigue)

Funnily enough it is worse to use a broken weapon than it is to use no weapon at all(in reference to the unarmed combat skill) since the stats are 0mt 30 ht 20wgt for broken weapons while unarmed combat gets you 0mt 70ht and 0wgt
@Webslinger09 they probably made fists better since they are tied to a skill instead of the player using a weapon one too many times in the same map, broken are designed as a punishment while unarmed was likely designed to be used as a way for brawlers to finish off weaker enemies without wasting durability on actual weapons
Bruh I was doing a 3H run literally today and thought this exact question, then saw this in my recommended. I put a broken axe on my Byleth so he could get axe xp and not one round everything instantly so other units could get xp, and he still was getting a lot of damage and I wondered if you could use broken weapons through the whole game
It's a fun vid but I wish gambit use was minimized. They often look less supportive and more like a strong weapon. I assume it impossible, but a tracker for gambit usage would be cool.
I feel like gambits take away from the spirit of the challenge somewhat, but it might be impossible to complete the challenge without them, at least without impractical luck.
I believe this is acceptable since it takes a while until he can get more precision on hits with skills and classes. Besides, maddening has SO many enemies that gambits kind of become mandatory if you want to at least have a doable run. I myself don't have the courage to try playing on maddening 😂😂.
Im a noob so ove only ever played in Casual mode, so how does Classic mode work with 3 houses? Other than the "units permanently dying" part, i moreso mean "how does the game work if any of the 3 leaders die?" Or is it just also game over. Let the 3 die No antagonist anymore The game has been won before it even started
I would like to see you do this challenge on one of the other routes. I think Azure Moon was the easiest choice for this challenge. Not because of Dimitri (you can just use Male Byleth and grind Wrath/Vantage on him instead), but because of easy access to Retribution and Dance of the Goddess that the other routes don't get. Taking away those tools would force you to change your strategies a lot more.
Nothing like hearing either Knuckles, Mario, or a minifigure death sound effect every 20 seconds, despite this video having nothing to do with any of those franchises. ...Seriously, who edits like this? @_@
you had so much problem with the post timeskip chapter becasue you only leveld dimitri. Your byleth was 21 while dimitiry was 31. You lost out of 10 levels worth of stats

There's 12 enemies that all charge at you in the beginning section who all deal around ~40 damage. Even if you had 30 Defense, it doesn't take more than 2-3 enemies to take Byleth down really easily. And Teegee's Byleth was much weaker than that. Clearing out the first section on Enemy Phase is pretty much the only way to survive that Map. Byleth is not doing that normally, let alone with using 30 Hit, 20 weight Weapons. Dimitri was doubling becuase he was using Gauntlets on player phase btw. 20 AS barely avoids being doubled, not enables it.
I do feel like it's cheating right off the bat to use offensive gambits... It's fine to have batallions for stats and support abilities, but i find it hard to agree that this was "broken weapons only" if you use ANYTHING but a broken weapon to damage a enemy. I get that it's infinitly harder to do without using offensive gambits, but you should at least try to see if it's possible without them before just scrambling for gambits to help you from the start...

Find out exactly how far you can get with a pure run first, and only if you get 100% stuck with no way out should offensive gambits start coming up... It's the fact that he immediatly made it feel like he didn't even try a mission without them first that kinda disappointed me, not that he ended up using them entirely.
@skynet0912 The run would end at Chapter 2 with no Gambits. Balthus is the strongest unit in the starting cast, and he fails to 3 hit ko the theives even with his personal. He also only has a >20% chance of actually landing a hit in the first place. And that's your best unit aganist them. Ashe, Annette, Ingrid, and Mercedes arent even capable of dealing damage to them. And there's 6 theives on this map, with 4 of them charging at you. There is no way this run has any chance without gambits in the early game.

Levels don't impact much when byleth is guaranteed to be doubled thanks to 20 weight broken weapons

One thief is not they 1:28, other that are not they are 3:09, 3:40, 17:11, one archer is not them 15:10, and 21:21, 30:17, 30:25, 30:44, 31:04-31:13, 31:17, 35:25, 43:36, 44:37, 48:56. One boss is not them or their 20:29, 22:56, 23:00, 23:07, 23:11, 23:13, 23:21, 34:33, 47:47, 49:45, 50:24, 50:28, 50:58, 51:53, and 53:51.
Also not everything is past tents.
