Can I Beat FE SoV if All Enemies Have 99 DEF and RES?

- In Fire Emblem Echoes Shadows of Valentia you CANNOT deal 0 damage, you always deal at least 1 damage. So I took the game to the limit by increasing EVERY Enemy's Defense and Resistance to 99. Making every attack I land always deal the lowest possible damage of a measly 1. This should make the game way harder, and just killing enemies should be a struggle. When Canters started to show up and the enemy's stared healing each other, it got way worse, and it left me wondering. Can I Really Beat Fire Emblem Echoes Shadows of Valentia if Every Enemy Has 99 Defense and Resistance?

I think my favorite part is that it seems like the hardest part for most battles wasn’t minimizing damage… it wasn’t managing healing… it was just how to stop enemies from running away when their healing AI kicks in LOL
Finally a realistic FE experience. The noodle-armed teenagers will finally be incentivised to work out.

The turn wheel not functioning after a long turn count actually caused my sole hard reset of the entire game, it jumpscared me so bad. Awesome vid, genny sweep 🙏

I got curious to see if doing more than 1 damage to an enemy with 99 def was possible, so I took a quick look at Serene's Forest and I believe the maximum amount of attack that can be achieved is 98. It would be a max atk Delthea reclassed into a Harrier attacking a terror with the Sol lance's weapon art. Of course, it'd still deal 1 damage lol
The roundhouse combat art ignores half of enemies defense stat so that probably does decent damage

I literally just beat SoV the other day and chose the exact same classes for my villagers.
This run was pretty cool. Echoes is super underrated
Made my day to see this pop up - SoV is my favorite Fire Emblem game hands down. Echoing what another comment said about trying the Grima fight - it's a chore to get down that far, but it would be really interesting to see what kind of strategy you need to employ to take Grima down given his insane HP and the constant reinforcements. (Since you're playing on emulator... Maybe you could save state before the fight? To make retrying less godawful if you need to?)

Great video, it had amazing editing and funny use of sound effects. Also kudos for spending the time to attempt a challenge like this. One issue I did have tho is constantly bringing up what units you gave the stat springs to felt like padding and was rather unnecessary

If you ever feel like tackling a similar challenge in another time, you should try fire emblem 4 with enemies having 99 DEF and RES, this one may be actually impossible as the enemies have infinite use weapons, healing on castles and healing costs money for allies.

MAYBE retainers of common background too, like Effie, Beruka, and Laslow. Arthur, for instance, would be unconfirmed and may be a lower noble

Laslow could be the son of Chrom, making him a prince, Robin, making him (essentially if not higher than) a prince, or Virion, making him a noble. If Arthur's unconfirmed without any knowledge of his parentage then Laslow should definitely be unconfirmed.
I made the discovery of Duma's low HP healing when I did Ladies Only Echoes (which is a very fun run, by the way, well worth a shot!) and was trying to solo him with Silque. It was...unwelcome. I was wondering how you were going to handle it!

This is probably will not be seen but for 4:10 i had same issue , i managed to fix it since Citraforums were just shutdown so i had to find it myself. For me the solution was disabling ''Enable Linear Filtering'' thats a checkbox below ''Internal Resolution'' and setting depth to 100%. Idk if anyone will see this or if it will help anyone but thought id put it here.

Imagine if they all had 99 HP (or more, if they do naturally) as well. It would probably still involve the same strategies and just take a lot longer, so I understand why you didn't do that, but the novelty would have been even greater and the difficulty would probably increase slightly.
Shaman and Luna go brrrrr
The Luna Spear in this game is just a weapon with perfect accuracy.
If you're farming for a specific weapon, the venin sword would be better as shown in the video, and if we only consider the super weapons trio, Astra Sword would allow for more dps.
As for Shaman, the Invoke spell was obviously used, and the Lemegeton spell is locked to a DLC class and isn't much more usefull either
SoV is one of my favorite FE Remakes of all time and easily the game I soaked a lot of time into 100% completing.
Interesting idea of a run due to dealing a minimum of 1 damage in this game.
Also, I didn’t know about the turnwheel being disabled after a large amount of turns pass. To be fair, you normally don’t stall for 50+ turns to normally see that happen.
It was interesting to see this be possible.

It says something about game balance that enemies really can't kill you if you try hard enough, and thus the game is basically beatable even if you deal 1 damage per attack lol
idk if you end up fixing it, but running in dungeon can be fixed by turning that 3d setting up to 100
I just discovered this was a bug by watching this video. I thought this was just a thing from the game and beaten the game with that happening lol

With how stamina works in this game i just think it would be tediously farming for food in dungeon for 5 hours and then juggernauting your way through until Grima

First step is a 3DS emulator on PC. Unfortunately the Citra team and their official site are gone, but you can probably still find something.

now would fe4 with 1 move be more tedious

I can generally list about a dozen severe gameplay issues unique to Gaiden/Valentia off the top of my head. This one's quite bad, but I tend to forget about it, so it doesn't make the list.
This game just has too many issues to keep track of.
