Fallschirmjagers were the best all around - early elite infantry unit for axis, pre-faust patch. They used to be equipped with 4 fg42s without needing to upgrade. Used to have 2 weapon slots, now just 1. When re crewing support weapons they were equipped with fg42s. Now just kar98k's. Fallschirmjagers are only good for hit and runs. Unlike their allied counterpart, are meant for prolonged field presence. USF paratroopers out match fallschirmjagers both in armaments and utilities. Despite all these drawbacks I still love these guys. And always try to make them work in my matches.
When I play as Allies, I complained about how OP Falls are. Excel at AI, powerful grenade combo, camo, further more that no elite AI infantry has an AT defense option (faust) such as Para, Ranger, Shock.. Remove faust is what I agree, but they need another ability to replace the lost one. With 60ammo for another 2FG and unable to camo move cover to cover until vet2. The nerf was beyond I expected
I mostly just use them to support volks, They are great at clearing early allied squads and forcing a retreat. Most allied people I face usually just target the volks.
Just wanted to say, the FG-42 was intended as a light machine gun, not as a semi-auto rifle. It was, however, built to fill both the role of a rifle and LMG that troops could use, in order to be more versatile behind enemy lines. It had extremely manageable recoil, as shown in the Forgotten Weapons video about the gun. lb for lb, it was considered superior to the BAR, it's closest counterpart.
Bro, every time i watched Spirit of the Law with his videos, i think "this is freaking amazing" (and i dont even play aoe2, but never miss a video from him). And i always wanted to see similar analysis about COH2. U MADE MY DREAM REAL AND I LOVE U FOR THAT
I'm a big fan of Spirit of the Law too. He inspires me to go deep into unit analysis like this. I tried hard not to copy him, but it's hard to deny the influence, I love his subtle jokes. =))
2:49 funny détail that i just noticed when that fallschirmjäger in front with the kar98k reaload, you can see that it have an FG-42 magazine on the side of his rifle. Yeah nothing much it's a small détail but i love the unit ^^
In CoH 1, Grenadier or Stormtrooper leader have StG 44 yet they shoot it one by one like a bolt-action rifle. When you upgrade it with real StG weapon, they shoot it full automatic.
Great video! However it would be great if you can make a list for all these coh2 units analysis video, pretty hard for me to find more of these content through all of your videos lol
Its better long range but conscript is very weak in straight combat unless when you mass them. It's good in support role with their merge abilities and other skill. They also need upgrade or specific doctrine to be potent. But it's cheap and easily spam. They also build largest sandbag (my favourite)
the best ways is to install coh 2 tools and read directly the game files (ebps & weapons) all the docs on internet are not official and outdated (2015 was the best i saw)
At vet2 i noticed. They can be camouflage by moving. But not from cover to cover. For example. When they move while in green cover they will be seen. At vet 2. Since they didnot leave the cover. They wont be seen
Yes, when I said hopped between cover, I think I had a wrong impression there until I checked it later. During the late game, when the ground was fully covered with craters, they "technically" hop from cover to cover. You are correct that any second of them not being in cover will reveal them. I'll make sure to be more clear for the next video. :D

I'm not 100% sure but I thought falls had the ability to get weapon upgrades in out-of-supply regions. I thought it was their unique feature. Also Osttruppen next.
the FG42 was not only semi automatic.... it could be fired in fullauto too... nice to know: in semiautomatic the systemwas a closed bolt system wich prevents dirt getting into the system in fullauto mode it was an open bolt system wich would lead to better cooling for the system
I would classify these guys as glass cannons. They are extremely effective against any infantry squad if they have the range/cover advantage but, indirect fire and armor is pretty damn lethal against them. Ive lost whole squads to a single shot from T34. Also, if something like shock troops or other close quarter infantry can get a jump on them (coming out behind corner and what not) they get wiped really easily!
ah yes... i just remember that falls faust was removed because it was a threat to T70.... like t70 need an edge for fighting infantry with their 45mm sniper cannon quite funny when i hear them first, but when stuart came to the equation then i see the reason... just sadly for me falls lost their uniqueness as elite generalist unit..(yeah camo is another thing but JLI also have camo but they have unique gameplay of scout/sniper team) while performance wise it was more or less on the same level as obers right now i see them are temporary(and emergency replacer if Flak hq is destroyed) obers (camo is great but rarely use by me coz player on my rank able to predict where they are hiding with nades or indirects which is acceptable because i also can predict where camo units are lurking) well that my opinion btw dont get me wrong double falls (especially with valiant assault) is beast anyways good video as always... :)
The reason could be the balancing of making fallschimjager squad go toe to toe with some elite units of the allies like the Rangers squad, shocktroopers, and the british commandos(which are almost similar to each other now, but lack range and a bit lacking of open ground survivability, except when equipped with brens, pretty much similar to the fallschimjager fg42 upgrades)
Units aren't supposed to be strong vs everything. There's a reason AT Snares aren't available on Elite infantry, and there was zero justification for them on a unit that was already had a ton of utility and anti infantry firepower.
4:15 in what world does it make sense that a 4 man elite squad which only cost manpower can defeat a 6 man squad which has had 120 munitions on top of the manpower?! Makes no sense. OP as fuck
Actually, it's quite situational. In that clip, Falls had the advantage of firing first and also had the first strike bonus and they still almost died. Paratrooper will beat them on the open ground pretty much most of the time.
Most Fallschirmjagers in 1944 were only Fallschirmjagers in name as they were actually just volksgrenadiers. Their numbers were already whittled down significantly.
It's really sad that they don't have panzerfaust anymore, you can use it, to drop near enemy altylery and destroy it whatever it will be, vehicle or cannon.
Great job guys, very cool and informative video, loved the second part especially. As for the first part, I'd like to know some more tips and tricks on how to use them well, f.e. synergy with other units (pre building sandbags with volks comes to mind).
