The best part of company of heros is that it accurately predicted the future of immersive multiplayer military games that end up with everybody arguing with each other on the horrible decisions that the commander overlooking the entire map makes

My favourite part of the game is when they did some rebalances and changes to the factions but never changed the tool tips. Unless they've patched it since, the tool tips still lie to you, veterancy for many units doesn't work the way it says it will and you're just supposed to connect your brain to the gigasphere of those still trapped endlessly fighting in the hedgerows to know these things.

I can recall that when playing online, we were scaried of one thing only: if a player dropped in online match, AI would take his place and just spam the shit out of his base and free win for enemy team, that was so annoying

I remember playing this and DOW2 and feeling so optimistic about the future of the RTS genre. Even had Command and Conquer 3 out around the same time. I never would've thought that there'd be such a collapse of content. We literally haven't progressed an inch, and hell, most strategy games these days don't feature graphics much better than this at all.
Doesn't really help the only one of the classic RTS series that stuck around was Total War, and even it had to lean into Warhammer to really get much success. Hopefully there's at least a little revival, AoE4 was pretty disappointing though

RTS are just rare and those what tend to come out usually are not RTS in classic sense ex. They are Billions

first is that people dumb down rts game to win back moba players because they still believe that today moba player is same player who played og dota on warcraft 3

Another mistake is aiming for the esports, yes starcraft is famous for that but not every rts player is pro who wants to be new bonjwa, not even every player is interested in competetive gamemodes, even in famous blizzard the games people commonly wanted only campaign and goofed off in custom games
And third, painfull controls, any player of iron harvest or pre starcraft 2 rts games knows what im talking about, the units not moving because they block each other

One would hope that seeing such a void in the market that you'd have a AAA studio step up and release a fully baked product, but heck, it's literally only smaller companies who can't afford to take full advantage of modern technology and the few advancements that have been made in terms of development. Almost every RTS we're getting in the short term literally looks like it could've been released in 2012, and that's not much of an exaggeration.

Apparently the reason why the Germans were so effective at the start of WW2 was because their officers specifically _didn't have to ask for permission_ from their superiors to adapt tactics to changed circumstances, instead having a degree of autonomy once they're on the battlefield. So, it's surprising that Germans in CoH depict what was really the _Allied_ modus operandi.
Its a multitude of factors, of course, including this one.
One of the other factors was meth. Also worth noting that as the war went on German officer autonomy was restricted, where as allied officer autonomy was greatly increased

It made me really sad that CoH2 did away with the squad ai from the first game. Couldn't believe it when I saw the soldiers independently running to cover, setting up suppressive fire and then flanking by crawling down a wall in the first game's tutorial. It felt so cool and next gen and I've yet to see AI as well implemented in so many modern AAA games.
first game soldier ai gives you little to control, they dance around too much, for 1 time they run into cover, 3 times they run into open
tutorial is set up, it’s hard coded
The problem is that all of those animations were just visual.
Soldiers ingame just simply do damage to each other (there is RNG rolls like XCOM on their shots), they just do damage to each other, and take less damage if they are in proper directional cover.
So it was incredibly frustrating to watch your guy do a cool barrel roll and then a battlecry, and then point out a target to his mates, when he was holding the MG42, which is 75% of the squads firepower, while the conscripts walk up to you and shove their mosins up your poopinholen.
In game there's still lots of actual strategy for the player to do, its just that your troopers do what you tell them instead of doing a dolphin dive INTO an MG arc when you wanted them to go around.
Seeing Sseth using [CENSORED] from lobotomy corp to cover the illegal information makes me realize how much I want him to review the game.

The gas pedal information is more or less correct; the tanks of that era (and also today) used braking navigation. Fully tracked systems don't have a turning wheel, so to turn you create a differential by using brakes to make one track move faster than the other. The default setting (as long as a gear is engaged) is GO, so if you die without some kind of braking engaged, GO will continue.
A good half of that is BS you know. The steering system you're talking about is known as "cutch braking" and was already on its way out by '39 - the last major tank designs to use it were the Pz III and IV (mid-Thirties designs) plus T-34 and the KVs (turn of decade). More sophisticated differential gear systems became the norm already during the war.
Also p sure steering columns were by no means rare even in wartime tanks never mind now later generations.
T-34 still used the old method of a pair of control levers tho.
Jokes aside, the fact that he promoted 3rd party resellers over any retail store like Steam says a lot about the industry...especially big companies like sega. Those prices are such a joke...

I recommend reviewing a small but complex game I bought recently- Shadow of Forbidden Gods.
It's basically a simulator of a world-ending cult trying to destroy the world- except it's not the world struggling to survive against you, it's your worldending eldritch cult struggling to survive the world of fantasy magical people. In order to win by ending the world, you need to employ stategies- any combination of following people until they go mad, throwing dead rats into peasants' windows, turning dance-macabre into reality, breeding fishmen faster than they can be killed, trying and failing to make orcs work together and turning the weakest kingdom on the map into the Dark Empire... which is still the weakest country on the map.
It's great fun, especially when being separated from human settlements by more than 2 tiles of wasteland stops the spreading of your influence for the next 50 turns- which is a good thing, because it prevents humans from noticing you and decimating all your agents.

This feels weird, he’s reviewing a game I threw hours into… and he isn’t wrong. Is cancer, especially fighting annihilation. Once spent hours getting pushed back to my base perimeter by Germans, as a Soviet. Ended up spamming literally tens of machine guns which the German AI literally ended up using. Which cucked them even I used the one captured tiger I caught. Tiger > machine gun, and it was truly an experience.
i never put much hours into CoH2, the dlc scheme kinda drove me away and i went back to CoH 1 + Blitzkrieg mod, tho sometimes dabbling in the eastern front or europe at war mods
I've played more hours of this game than I'd care to admit. But as much as I love it, it also is incredibly rage inducing, especially when you play multiplayer (where matchmaking is honestly not the best).

Get the mod "All units" it's always the top rated and most popular mod of all time in the workshop, just gives you every unit from every commander, then the commanders only exist to provide their in game abilities like artillery strikes, paratroopers, etc.

Sseth has some uniquely accurate insights throughout nearly all his videos. The Elex one in particular was top notch. As he is probably a dutchman or a Dane (he may or may not have used a bicycle lock on a heroin addict ex-gf he knew from the institution to force her to withdraw, shitting herself screaming and terrified, having baited her into his flat) I think he's got some pretty accurate information about Orks the original Jewish stereotype, Germans, who perversely turned the Ashkenazim through assimilation into being as German-like as possible by stereotype, greedy gold hoarding and nation wrecking and all.
I never thought I would live within 100 years of such a masterpiece, let alone actually live DURING it. Every time it passed my expectations, and then proceeded to get better the moment after. Thank you for making one of, if not THE best video of COH2 I’ve ever seen.
My favourite Company of Heroes moment is when General Winter drove a T-34 across the Death Egg in a race against Knuckles, the Pyro from TF2, Shadow the Hedgehog, Wreck-It Ralph and famous NASCAR/Indycar driver Danica Patrick.
Playing against expert level AI really makes you feel like a starved russian peasant being made into a fine red mist by high caliber german weaponry.

I feel like despite the faster pace the quality is still there. Hard to know what we might be missing without a direct comparison, but I hunger for more Sseth content.
It works for a game like this, it's a RTS of WW2, simple enough of a concept, not much to talk about. Save the quality for the story / mechanic rich single player games.
I feel like the general chaos in MoH2 let Sseth sit back a lil bit and let the game do the talking. I see new crazy shit every time I watch this video and I just keep coming back

For example:
Reverse being a dedicated command
Target Priority switching
Manual Reloading of crew weapons
True Sight
Polish/Quality-wise I'd say it's pretty the same tbh, especially since you are comparing a game that has no more updates going for it to one that still somewhat does.
He has gotten more efficient lately. Must be a new PC.

Another thing to point out. Once you've gotten all the races from a third-party source, use mods. You get all the powers of every commander without having to buy them.
I had no idea about that. What mod is it and where do I get it from? Also does it matter if I don't have all the DLC? I really don't need or want the Br*tish Forces
@@radudodita3110 It's just called the "all commanders mod" or something. You can also play the "All Units" mod to play with every unit available for your faction. Or mods like "Wikinger" that just completely change the game and really give a new feel to it. Mods really bring this game alive and are part of the reason why it still has an active playerbase.

@@radudodita3110 Steam workshop is where I get everything. You'll only need the dlcs if you want to play as a specific faction like the U.S, British, or "mobile germans." I don't know how to spell it and my phone is a dumbass.

The sturmtieger actualy needed a crane to be loaded, also it was left on the battefield often once it shot its 6 shots because refitting is not worth it
The crane was for lifting the shells _into the tank_ and very much necessary as those things weighed like 370 plus kilos. (The gun was a 380 mm rocket mortar derived from a naval _depth charge launcher_ of all things - the originally planned 210 mm howitzer never got off the drawing board so they went with that instead.) And the full capacity was 14 rounds - one in the barrel, one in the loading tray and the rest in racks. And that second claim is _very_ heavy [citation needed] - only 18 of those things were ever built in the first place ffs and they served from '43 to the end of the war. Supposedly one managed to hit and KO a whole bunch of stationary Shermans during the Battle of Remagen in March '45, the only tank kill claim ever made for those things - they were specialised assault guns after all.
