CB is definitely still good but after going back to World and retrying it, I'm sad they really nerfed the audio/visual elements that the World CB has. For example when you SAED, it was so much more impactful since there is that loud "woosh" sound when you wind up and swing, and the slam sounded much harder, along with the extra crackles from the phials.
You're absolutely right. The Great Sword too feels "nerfed" in that regard, the weapon is very good but feels less powerful. Not to mention almost every blade weapon in Rise has a very loud and specific "cutting" sound ("kh-sock") that feels... weak.
Its definitely all about positioning and I think magnamalo has an overall larger hit box thats more condensed compared to some of the other monsters in rise.
I just miss the meatieness of how the weapons felt in world. Hitting monsters with an SAED filled me with so much dopamine especially those nice staggered delays. Rise just feels like I didnt hit the monster at all.
My only problem with CB in Rise is not even a problem with CB itself, but the stupid inputs being eaten. There's so many instances of me trying to cpp but my left trigger won't register and my character will try to charge slash and die like an idiot. I even tried different controllers to see if it was my controller acting up but nah.
The fact that he did about 1500 - 2000 damage in the length of 48 seconds shows that I'm bad at the charge blade. I can't even do that much in that amount of time. Good stuff!
The Charge Blade was my first love in the MH games, it’s just the coolest concept really. I think the hate this weapon gets is due to the feel and the weight of the weapon. In world this thing felt heavy and satisfying like a good heavy you know? Sadly in rise the “feeling” of the weapon went away for some reason, the IG got the same treatment but both are still dps kings. It’s crazy how the feel of a weapon can make it seem less powerful
I suspect it's cuz of two reasons. Rise moves faster than World did thanks to the wirebug and other smaller things that add up, so it is possible the weapons feel lighter to match the lighter and more fast paced combat. Who knows? Maybe during play testing, the weapons were much heavier-feeling with their hits, but that made stuff kinda jarring in contrast to the speed of the game. The other reason might just be cuz the Switch struggled to work properly when, for example, 4 players all used an attack that caused a bunch of visual and audio affects to come out at once in addition to the 4 buddies and whatever the monsters were doing. That's just my theory though. It's not based on anything so it is probably wrong.
There is a video from the creators of God Of War and they added a delay to make the weapon feel more weightfull. That gave me the idea to experiment with the hit lag by modding. IMO The fights are way more fun when having more hitlag/hitstop!
You should have heard the sound effects for this thing in 4U. I think it was at its most satisfying there. Whenever you did the true charge, it did this big windup whirring noise followed by a long hitstun effect with a loud thump that shook the entire screen. I’m sad it hasn’t been as cool since then.

This is what I've always thought when people say CB is insanely hard and complex; when I think the weapon guides you on what to do pretty well. Positioning is easily the hardest, coupled with timing as well.
The only reason why people say it's hard is because to be able to maximize your DPS you have to do a lot of phial management and learn how to perfectly use guard point. As if everyone is trying to be a damn speed runner lmao.
CB has never been hard to play. But people tend to confond hard to learn (involve mastering the moveset of the weapon which takes a few hours depending on the weap), and hard to play. For instance, great sword is easy to learn but hard to play because you need a lot of boss knowledge to be able to do full charges.
from a multiplayer perspective its kinda shite bc ure stuck with savage axe most of the time due to aggro being so random it's hard to check in ur guard points and saeds
Chargeblade is my favorite mh weapon however I just can't play it in rise, it feels so clunky and Mechanical unlike in world where it felt nice and smooth. Plus they made blocking take way more damage than what I like even with max guard up. I really wish I could play it but I just can't.

I think as a charge blade main that to make charge blade viable is that you have to know your opponents attacks to know if they stand still like mag here. One of my biggest complaints with CB is the fact that you have to have so much prep with it like decorations having artillery is essential it doesn’t help that it’s a tier 2 decoration either. The weapons most of them are elemental phials which suck unless it’s a large target like mudron.
I do think you're on point with the knowing your opponents attacks; that's a must with CB. It's why CB is very difficult to use effectively in multiplayer. However, impact CBs don't require all those decorations to be viable; the decorations just bring out full potential and by the time you'll really need that extra oomph, you should have the means to easily get those skills. Elemental phials' usefulness are dependent on the monster's hit-zone value, which I will say do need way more prep to outpace impact in terms of damage. But you can literally use impact as you build up your elemental set.
@Eziel First of all, every weapon in the game requires good knowledge of the monsters moves and attacks, and it is at least equally important for all weapons (except for the gunner ones). @Brijesh Shivanna first of all, while all weapons do need knowledge of the monster (duh, that's a core mechanic of the game, so is positioning and hit-zone values and what not if you REALLY want to get into it) some need it WAY more than others. Thats 11 days ago, do you still feel the same? I dont like the mode because it limits my moveset to 2 moves when I want to use it. I think its really repetitive.
Great run. But no amount of 1/100 perfect runs can make me think the SAED hitbox isn't bad. Maybe 1/4 of yours hit every phial. The angle to turn the saed is also bad, it caused you to miss an entire SAED. The weapon doesnt "suck" because it does no damage. It "sucks" cause it feels so bad to play.
Please release some sort of tip video on positioning for saed style cause jesus christ I was totally fine in world and I can’t find a reliable way to aim saeds in rise, i love the weapon but its ruining it for me. You seem to have it figured out, pls help, thanks! Always watching your vids so I won’t miss it
Love CB in MHW, in Rise the monsters attack too fast to do the counter. I love the guard point->SAED but yeah they are too fast, except in your clip that proves me wrong. When I try against Zinogre it just doesn't cut it. I end up using the hammer and just bonking around, way more safe and less frustrating.
@@Collectivism nah zinogre is actually harder to counter into saed. He backhops and sidehops, alot. Not to mention the phial range nerf . Magnamolo just stands there after every attack animation.
Dude I've mained SA for four MH games and Zinogre was never a problem, i especially welcomed it in some instances after some tough hunts, because it was a monster i could consistently hunt without much issue. But I'm doing a full playthrough on pc with CB learning the weapon and Zinogre was my first failed hunt. It comboes you into oblivion, and magnamalo does too, don't get me wrong, but the timing for a counter is just off, there's rarely, an occasion to land a Saed and when you do if your character for some weird reason moves 2 degrees you waste the whole thing. Very upsetting.
i would say most of weapon is so much more fun and flashy but the flaws are also hard to adapt for me CB problems are little to no buffer window, side hop that is basically useless without evade extender, have to invest so much slot in guard skill, and the werid savage axe mode that abandon almost 80% of CB moveset(i mean what even is the point of CHARGE blade when you dont need to charge?) i get the idea of capcom want players to incorporate more wirebug skills in their gameplay rather than taking absolute readyness for every situation in GU. But taking away players option doesnt seem to be not a good solution
It's a the counter morph slash switch skill. When you guard point and attack and do an SAED/AED immediately after, you get a confirmation ding and the rainbow shine around your weapon
I just hope they bring the Guard Point Impact Stun value back. Feels really good to Guard Point monsters and they stun. Or is it in the game and I'm too noob to pull it off?
People saying it's bad never touched CB in MHGU. Rise CB is a slightly weaker version of World, and World has the most powerful iteration this weapon ever

you play so well... I have huge issues with fast monsters, after guard break I try to discharge and monsters he me before my attack lands or soon after before my char finished animation
Hi, i need some little help here I see in your vid after successful block you can do the charged sword slam or only 1 phial discharge even when in red form What i need to know what is the button for that? I tried many times seems like always ended up with SAED Thanks
I don't think it is bad, It's just worse, if you go in having never played the CB you're gonna have a blast, but after OG MHW it just feels really weird, even in Iceborne the weapon felt slower, but in Rise, the weapon feels like it got drained of it's weight and impact for some reason, and aiming SAED sucks in Rise also.
I got thia video in my recommended and thought it was some Anti-CB propaganda. After watching, however, I am now subscribed and have liked the video. Awesome run, super fun to watch.
For CB they only really nerfed the charged axe,(It's stunning capabilities), being able to use both charged sword and axe, and the stun damage dealt from the elemental discharge. One the other hand they gave it wirebug moves, one of which being ass and the other, good.
I still love the cb but it feels off compared to world, most of the time it feels like I didn't hit the monster even though I did. In fact every weapon feels this way.
Yeah I feel like a lot of it is due to the sound and visual design. I dont know why they changed the effects for rise, as worlds effects were great. Hits just dont feel as meaty. Im sure this isnt as much of a problem for something like duel blades, but when I SAED with charge blade or TCS with greatsword it just feels lacking. I hope they don’t downgrade the effects for world 2 like they did for rise.
Maybe my opinion will change once i get back to kb and mouse, but on switch cb is way harder to play imo, sure the dmg potential is there, but they put so many unnecessary walls in the gameplay
My biggest problem is how hard you have to push the buttons to just do a SAED or any multi button combo because if you don't push them hard enough, you just do a basic Y slash
I just dislike the amount of time it takes me to get to the chainsaw form, maybe if i was better with it I would bother(kinda like IG). But with my current skill its just a waste of materials
Ugh watching your run makes it clear to me how CB works. Since the release in 4U I was super overwhelmed by even watching someone play this weapon. I feel like this hunt really shines some light on the important parts of CB.
You can use LBG and solo anything in the game with minimum to no effort. However, it's lame and boring and I only do it when I'm grinding out parts to upgrade the more fun weapons.
Apparently a lot of people think a cloud of smoke is better than lightning explosions. SAED sounded and felt better in world, but it sure looked like ass.

Thats 11 days ago, do you still feel the same?
I dont like the mode because it limits my moveset to 2 moves when I want to use it.
I think its really repetitive.
The volvadon CB is hilarious with savage axe
You murdered my criticisms, but I hope they patch in buffered charged attacks. It's the thing I miss the most.
yeah the lack of buffer on attacks is noticable, it usually swallows my inputs if i press them to early.
@@IDeVaste oh i thought it's just my controller lol turns out everyone suffer the same input problem huh..
It's driving me nuts
@@ZlyLudekPL glad you'd replied, was talking about it with another streamer as we speak
What do you guys mean by lack of buffer? Does it not register the button input or something?
Last night I swore off every other weapon except charge blade because of you, I needed this reminder lol
The thing that pisses me off the most on CB is the Fade Slash, everytime I do it by accident and it messes me up
The issue here is that I will never be this good. Awesome video.
his camera placement is insane. wirebugging to the sweet spots. Good run man!!
Jesus! Those movements are just pure insanity! I must learn how to do that!
How do you get full phials from yellow heat?????????
Please release some sort of tip video on positioning for saed style cause jesus christ I was totally fine in world and I can’t find a reliable way to aim saeds in rise, i love the weapon but its ruining it for me. You seem to have it figured out, pls help, thanks! Always watching your vids so I won’t miss it
I happen to have one on my channel 👀
Point the stick towards the monster in like a 180° range, or press the target cam and forward
Get good.
@@Collectivism nah zinogre is actually harder to counter into saed. He backhops and sidehops, alot. Not to mention the phial range nerf . Magnamolo just stands there after every attack animation.
@@Collectivism Git gud*
Dude I've mained SA for four MH games and Zinogre was never a problem, i especially welcomed it in some instances after some tough hunts, because it was a monster i could consistently hunt without much issue. But I'm doing a full playthrough on pc with CB learning the weapon and Zinogre was my first failed hunt. It comboes you into oblivion, and magnamalo does too, don't get me wrong, but the timing for a counter is just off, there's rarely, an occasion to land a Saed and when you do if your character for some weird reason moves 2 degrees you waste the whole thing. Very upsetting.
i would say most of weapon is so much more fun and flashy but the flaws are also hard to adapt
for me CB problems are little to no buffer window, side hop that is basically useless without evade extender, have to invest so much slot in guard skill, and the werid savage axe mode that abandon almost 80% of CB moveset(i mean what even is the point of CHARGE blade when you dont need to charge?)
i get the idea of capcom want players to incorporate more wirebug skills in their gameplay rather than taking absolute readyness for every situation in GU. But taking away players option doesnt seem to be not a good solution
How did you get 5 phials when only at yellow charge 1:08 ???
just get those phial hitboxes more similar to world and that solves 90% of the problem xD nice run regardless bro
I WANNA SEE AXE HOPPEERR
jesus fucking christ, let that magnamalo in peace :(
Title got me, came to fight, stayed for muh baby
The usage drop from world to rise is incredible
Block and SAED, Block and SAED, Block and SAED.... Kinda satisfying but ir gets boring in rise very quick.
What did this dink indicate when doing a SAED at 1:29 was it a guard point, switchskill? I keep seeing it in videos
It's a the counter morph slash switch skill. When you guard point and attack and do an SAED/AED immediately after, you get a confirmation ding and the rainbow shine around your weapon
No reasonable buff to the phial hitbox will be able to help me hit my SAEDs, so that’s why I play savage axe
Great run! Also, the video description is exactly was I was about to write :D
Those were some really nice SAEDs. Especially on the back legs
I just hope they bring the Guard Point Impact Stun value back. Feels really good to Guard Point monsters and they stun.
Or is it in the game and I'm too noob to pull it off?
you need shield charge + impact phial type
People saying it's bad never touched CB in MHGU. Rise CB is a slightly weaker version of World, and World has the most powerful iteration this weapon ever
While I miss my random guard points for dodging or forward attacking, CB definitely could have been better than it was in GU
@@jashiboi1616 Mh4 had the most powerful version of the weapon - it was broken af
@@NoLuckJustSkill1337 you mean MH4U right? MH4 Vanila CB was kind of horrible.
@@rafaelmendonca1272 4U, yea sorry
Okay but how do you do that instant charge of the phials am I missing something ??
I like cb like worlds version, a grand mix of offense and defense, not just oppressive defense
how do u go directly into the blade big smash attack? i always have to morph blade first then do the 2 button attack.
At 0:33 why do your files fill up all the way when it indicates yellow?
Load Shells 2 allows you to fully charge phials on Yellow.
Time to grab some popcorns
Me still trying to learn all the combos on charge blade. Me also watching this video and seeing how well you have mastered it:👁👄👁👏
Its actually easy tbh. At first i thought it was hard to learn as well, but in my suprise, im able to learn it under 10min. U just hv to fill the white phial, transter it to shield n u good to use the AED/SAED.
@@nelsonvinsha8700 I guess your in the phase, where you learned the basics and now you think you mastered CB. Play a little bit longer and you will see the mountain ahead of you
I’ve always used the charge blade but in this game I’ve been upset with the tracking on saed and how savage axe works. Both styles of play have major issues and I’m actually wondering at this point if a build around sword mode would be fun
Gunlance mains crying
Try to convince me that Gunlance is good next
What outfit/layered armor are you using?
you play so well... I have huge issues with fast monsters, after guard break I try to discharge and monsters he me before my attack lands or soon after before my char finished animation
*Magnamalo breathes*
IDeVaste: ...And I countered that
How do you go from yellow charge into full phials? Is it a Rise skill?
What is that blight topple thing?
Hi, i need some little help here
I see in your vid after successful block you can do the charged sword slam or only 1 phial discharge even when in red form
What i need to know what is the button for that? I tried many times seems like always ended up with SAED
Thanks
Jesus. I only started playing a week ago and charge blade has became my favorite, but you're using shortcuts I wasn't even aware of
Mmm mmm mmm. That's some delicious bait. Solid run btw
This dude did more SEADs then I have in 10 hunts combined.
When you farm for that magnalo orb and he just becomes a joke to fight after a while
You make it look easy deva! Good work!
What is you'r equipement?
Just 1 Minute to go and you are where the LS speedrunners are. Good Luck
What's the layered armor set you're using here?
How do you get him to only hit you one time in a row like that?
I hope they don’t downgrade the effects for world 2 like they did for rise.
how do you keep getting all 5 phials filled with only yellow charge?
Two points of Load Shells armor skill does it
I really dont like what this capcom team did with the charge blade.
Can someone explain to me how the hellfire topple works?
If you use wirebug you get rid of hellfire and leave it on spot. If it explodes by either you or magna attacks and it topple the monster
@@IDeVaste ooh, ty ty
Maybe my opinion will change once i get back to kb and mouse, but on switch cb is way harder to play imo, sure the dmg potential is there, but they put so many unnecessary walls in the gameplay
My biggest problem is how hard you have to push the buttons to just do a SAED or any multi button combo because if you don't push them hard enough, you just do a basic Y slash
Wow, you are the first one I have ever seen that uses kb and mouse for MH. Sick!
@@Trolzzor A lot of Speedrunners usually use KB and Mouse since moving around the menu is a little bit faster
@@Trolzzor as clunky as KB+M can be sometimes it's actually pretty nice once you learn it
Kb and m is ideal for me cus i got space between my hands and the screen is closer to my face making it more personal
I just dislike the amount of time it takes me to get to the chainsaw form, maybe if i was better with it I would bother(kinda like IG). But with my current skill its just a waste of materials
how are you not wasting any stamina?
Positioning is great man and those damages, damn! haha
This is usually how it goes
See TH-camr do something cool with a weapon I don’t use
Attempt it
Fail
Go back to my original weapon
Edit : repeat
This is on PC right? I play on Switch but this framerate is nuts
Thanks for reminding me I need artillery.
Magna getting punished by them saeds
The only thing I could think watching this was "DAMN he fucking him UP!"
ahh, magna. the CB punching bag. how fast can you do the others.
Ugh watching your run makes it clear to me how CB works. Since the release in 4U I was super overwhelmed by even watching someone play this weapon.
I feel like this hunt really shines some light on the important parts of CB.
everytime I see some expierienced charged blade players I feel so bad. I can´t get all of these combos down :(
You can use LBG and solo anything in the game with minimum to no effort. However, it's lame and boring and I only do it when I'm grinding out parts to upgrade the more fun weapons.
Apparently a lot of people think a cloud of smoke is better than lightning explosions. SAED sounded and felt better in world, but it sure looked like ass.
Yes im here 20sec. After Upload, now is my time to shine. Today is the Day.

I’m sorry, but as someone who plays Bloodborne, I am contractually obligated to use Savage Axe. Also does offensive guard affect counter peak performance?

Miss mh4u cb
This is AMAZING moves ! Nice video!
as an IG main i started playing rise with CB (Sadly my save was deleted, thanks capcom) so i switched to hammer on my new save.
but will definitely pick up the CB soon after i remove the level cap (just beat bezel)
İ picked up CB in icebourne after i played the game for 1000+ hours, i wish i started earlier, was watching the streams to get better at it. (nice run btw)
btw i though IG would suck in rise but it doesn't? it even gets that beyblade move that behaves like iai slash?
The chainsaw mode got pretty heavy nerfed, its not so useful anymore and you can get more dps with discharges
this is false
I hope they remove the chainsaw mode in future games. it destroyed CB for me.
You're VERY good. I'm almost ashamed to call myself a CB user. My Magnamalo video was mostly me getting wrecked
