If your results are accurate and match the production models, it would be yet another disappointment from Toyota. The hybrid seems to provide no noticeable difference vs. the non-hybrid other than the 2400w power capability. If it barely increases power, barely gains any real difference in fuel efficiency, and kills all additional storage space, along with complicating the maintenance, what is the point of this?
What most people dont realize about hybrids is your not getting those peak power numbers all the time. Also, when the battieries are low, get used to the gas motor doing all the work. Theres no way that small battery can charge fast enough to provide full power all the time. Worse, once that battery charges, it discharges even faster.
Yup been saying that for months as I actually own a hybrid truck. Don’t expect the battery to do much. Once it’s out of juice you’re sol. Better off with a turbo 6
What was not said was the expected MSRP of the hyrbid model. Most likely more expensive. With all of the downsides, not a good buy. I would have expected more from a pre-production high-end model. Like buying a Lexus vs a Camry.
Just to add I had those type wheels on a ram and you could never get those to Shine once the brake dust touches them and susceptible to cracks & chrome flaking off . Why they didn’t put polished alloy wheels on it is just finding a way to make more $$$ off customers
Finally someone is pointing out how horrible this iforce max hybrid system is. How the hell can it produce more power and a hell of a lot more torque and yet be SLOWER 🤔 Also, I have seen so many POV videos that the acceleration and passing power is....slow
The manual transmission is having some severe problems. Probably best not to buy one. Truck King destroyed one. Toyota claims user error. Said they accidentally shifted from fifth to first instead of third. I believe there’s other incidents of this happening.
New toyota is trash. I’ve owned toyota for over 20 years. Every truck and car channel had bad experiences with newer toyota’s lol. I did get the new Pro4x and its much better.
Id take the new frontier over this. Toyota now decreases quality and raises prices tremendously. You cant even trade in your new trucks as they won’t take them. Toyota quality is out the door.
That back seat room SUCKS ! and didnt Chrome go out with the Disco ball ? Seriously Toyota ?... your going downhill pretty fast. But hey That Disco ball will last 40 years thanks to that Toyota reliability...LOL Ford Ranger all day long baby !!
I watched this video, again guys same some time and make 3 min videos. Last three min is about your subject line. I wont view anymore of your stuff. Not trying to be a hater just you go over the same stuff again just to make a longer video. Get on with it.
@@AlexLepoutre ok. You think these are the Toyota's of the past? Overpriced for what it offers. Just admit the competition has not only caught up, but is offering a better product at a lower cost.

That's why I bought the NON-Hybrid Limited. What's the point.
I'd be curious what a dyno run would show, parasitic loss being taken into consideration. Now I can't wait to see a production truck test.
A minor issue with your discussion. You said the SR5 comes with leaf springs. The double cab SR5 comes with the coil spring five-link rear suspension.
I love this Toyota

Very valid points. Just for some clarification, the hybrid battery was at an indicated 70% charge at the time of this test.

Good question, at the time of filming we did not know the price. We now know this unit was roughly $58k
I cannot believe they put those cheap crappy “chrome clad” ie. plastic wheel covers on a LIMITED model. Such junk
Just to add I had those type wheels on a ram and you could never get those to

Agree
totally
Yeah, they look terrible. Reminded me of the chromed plastic parts that used to come with model plane kits

Wow plastic cover over steel wheels on the limited? Toyota fans here but man it’s a shame
That’s exactly what I’m thinking. WTF Toyota ??? I was leaning toward the Limited but the Canyon Denali is starting to look better !

Im pretty sure toyota is limiting boost in lower gears

TFL broke their Tacoma too. The new tundras engines are blowing everywhere. Toyota are in a world of problems right now
9 bolts😂😂😂
Both the new Tundra and Tacoma 💩 I came so close to ordering a 2022 Tundra. I'm glad I didn't. Something changed at Toyota...and not for the better.
Yep. Crazy how Nissan has more reliable trucks than Toyota now
Tacoma highest selling midsized truck in America for 20 years and will continue to be.
Maybe it used to be. I had a client of mine with one and the transmission overheated here in Bakersfield. These things are caca.

One of my coworkers got a new frontier hardbody edition. Honestly it looks and feels like a real truck. These tacomas are just made for mall shopping.
No.
It has hubcaps lol.
I like the Nissan Frontier pro4x better !

You can get a zr2 starting at 48k and will blow it out the water
While losing half its value in a few years…
@@AlexLepoutre the nee tacomas are granading front differentials and are not as great as you think they are.

lol...and it'll be worth 35% of MSRP in 4 years...if it lasts that long.

Ford Ranger Raptor is the best mid-sized truck. But the new Tacoma comes in at a close 10th place.
Most definitely

Let’s see how that Raptor is holding together in a few years.. I’ve yet to own a Ford that hasn’t broken down on me. Never again.
Not worth 55K
That’s slow as hell for the price and the amount of torque the truck has. Waste of money when you can get a raptor ranger
This is the worst looking trim. That engine sounds kind of strange.
It’s crap. Say it.
No.
disappointing price, disappointing performance , disappointing interior space, no rear vents no rear arm rest. Hold this L Toyota. Looks good though
