The vast majority of our utes/trucks here contain anywhere from 2L to 3L turbo diesel engines with a small minority coming with gasoline engines. That's mostly because on average Diesel is cheaper than Gas in Australia and the opposite is true in the US. And you're spending an average of $6.00 USD per Gallon of Gasoline when converting from Liters and AUD which is almost double the average price here in the US at $3.50.

You ain't putting any kids in the pro, atleast one with a carseat that most kids should be in from birth to 40 pounds (4-5 years old minimum) I really wished they made one model like a TRD XL CAB for more rear end space. My 2023 trd off road is crampt with 2 car seats in it, actually looking to ditch the taco that now has 20k on it and can get 95% what I paid for it! I'll miss having resale value of the taco!
Even as an overall Nissan skeptic I can't deny it's a better deal. Plus that NA V6 they use is already proven to be good motor in terms of reliability.
the Frontier pro4x 100% does not have a front locker. I own one. it IS still more truck for the same money [feature for feature the same price point] with that good v6
Not gonna lie, I drove my buddy's new 2024 Tacoma TRD Offroad 4x4, and I couldn't really tell any real ride improvement with the rear coils over the previous generation leaf springs. The difference was negligible. My 2wd F150 rides better, but it has a much longer wheel base. I think reviewers might be exaggerating the ride benefit.
Coils prevent side to side movement of the rear suspension where leafs can move The only time you’ll really notice that is off-roading and less so on the road
So, TFL Truck had a front diff component break, and now these two experienced trans overheating issues on both upper trim trucks? Whoa. Granted they were in the desert, but what if somebody is towing a trailer in the mountains on a hot day?
The trans still shouldn't be overheating while doing what it is made to do. But then again, Toyota won't warranty a 86 if you raced it, while they've brand it as an entry level lapping car
That was the most minimal off-roading and it still overheated. I live in AZ where it’s 110 with long uphill pulls in the freeways, it’s definitely overheating there. Garbage!
I had a TRD Pro pre-ordered and a down payment handed over. I just bought a Tundra Platinum TRD off-road instead. The Platinum wasn't much more expensive, it can overland just fine, and I can fit 5 adults comfortably, while the Tacoma couldn't even fit an two adults in the front with a kid in a car seat in the backseat and a dog. Bonus: you can camp in the Tundra with the massive panoramic roof. The only thing I don't like about the Tundra is that it came with 20" wheels with tiny tires that come to about 30". Once I slap some 33s on the Tundra, I think it will do anything I ask of it. I love my Tacos, but for anything beyond just a one or two person truck, even the new Tacoma can't cut it.
64k (49% increase) on the most unreliable Tacoma generation yet is CRAZY. I bought a 2015 4 runner limited with fox suspension and 70k miles in November for 30k cash. It will out live both of these trucks with just regular maintenance and still be worth 70% of what I bout it for; 10 years from now with twice as many miles. Toyota is about to go through its “Nissan CVT” era. Get the last generation before prices skyrocket.
Those prices are crazy considering they only have the 4 Cyl Turbo, nice trims but its just not worth it ngl. Might aswell get the Top of the Line Nissan Frontier Pro 4X Which is around 30k/40k At the moment and that has a V6 Engine thats really reliable, 9/10 Speed Automatic, Diffs, Nice Leather Seats, Beautiful color, awesome interior details, great rims, perfect off-road tires and 4x4 or AWD. The frontier has way more HP than the Tacoma making 220HP and the Frontier making 310HP.
Only reason why it’s so expensive is because it has incredibly high resale value in the long run. Also I’m kind of biased because I own a 22 Frontier Pro X. I still respect the new look though, but also I have trouble distinguishing a Tacoma from a Tundra.
That V6 is very reliable, only issue is the chain is connected to the water pump so if that goes out, it’s gonna be expensive to fix, and not to mention only has GDI instead of dual injection like the Toyota…
@@Uglier_God You are basing the potential resale value off the name.... If this turns out to be a shitbox with an old name then it won't be worth shit. Especially if that v4 or the trans turns out to be complete hot shit. Wait 5-10 years before we really start to say "Resale will be good"
That’s a 30% increase in cost between generations! Nolan glossed right over that. Felt like a 15 minute ad for Tacoma. Truck can’t do no wrong. But overheating transmissions.
Bought a 2018 SR double cab 4 cylinder for $28k, couple options. Gets good mpg, super reliable, rides well and a workhorse. About 37k now. Gonna keep this till can't get gas...
IDK 4 cylinder turbo engines usually dont last past 150K miles. those NA V6 engine might have not had as much low end torque but toyota's V6 engines were very well made. This new 4 cylinder turbo is probably going to get you 100K because people will change the oil at 10K miles.

I love looking at different markets especially when living overseas, you hardly ever get vehicles like this out on the tracks or off-road (not that the model is available) but can totally understand it in places like the US (sometimes i wish living in other countries was something easy to do, as we could all enjoy different walks of life with less drama and not have to be rich to do so) - saying that still need deep pockets if you wanted to buy a top tier vehicle and fix anything if it broke

That's mostly because on average Diesel is cheaper than Gas in Australia and the opposite is true in the US. And you're spending an average of $6.00 USD per Gallon of Gasoline when converting from Liters and AUD which is almost double the average price here in the US at $3.50.
The price even for the cheap one is ridiculous, these car manufacturers are smoking

My 2023 trd off road is crampt with 2 car seats in it, actually looking to ditch the taco that now has 20k on it and can get 95% what I paid for it! I'll miss having resale value of the taco!

Nolan and Justin living their best lives! I love it.
The Frontier Pro-4X is 20k cheaper and has a front locker and a trans cooler. This is a massive whiff
Even as an overall Nissan skeptic I can't deny it's a better deal. Plus that NA V6 they use is already proven to be good motor in terms of reliability.
That’s because the new frontier is just more of a refresh than a full redesign from the ground up.
@flurpoid my work truck frontier has 260k mi on it that v6 is a work horse. Gets a oil change every 5k mi and keeps chugging along.
the Frontier pro4x 100% does not have a front locker. I own one. it IS still more truck for the same money [feature for feature the same price point] with that good v6
it has a rear locker... if that was not clear
Yeah I drove the coil and the leaf springs, leaf actually had a better ride over bumps maybe the coil is better at turning? idk
Coils prevent side to side movement of the rear suspension where leafs can move
The only time you’ll really notice that is off-roading and less so on the road
You think people invited over and given a chance to try shit before it's on the market so they can post videos early might have a positive bias?
@@soldat88hun I mean my guy is even wearing a Toyota branded name tag

So, TFL Truck had a front diff component break, and now these two experienced trans overheating issues on both upper trim trucks? Whoa. Granted they were in the desert, but what if somebody is towing a trailer in the mountains on a hot day?
Garbage components
The trans still shouldn't be overheating while doing what it is made to do. But then again, Toyota won't warranty a 86 if you raced it, while they've brand it as an entry level lapping car
That was the most minimal off-roading and it still overheated. I live in AZ where it’s 110 with long uphill pulls in the freeways, it’s definitely overheating there. Garbage!
Toyota's aren't what they use to be. The simplicity of the old ones was what made them so great. These are just overly-complex gucci 4x4s.
@@moneyandtimefreedom3352 I drive harder than that on my Mazda3 awd hatch and never overheated the trans. They were only doing 50mph too.
Exactly. Only morons buy this truck and the people who call it “awesome” and “sick”. Morons.

Those prices are crazy considering they only have the 4 Cyl Turbo, nice trims but its just not worth it ngl.
It doesn’t come cheap, but if you want more power from the taco hybrid max makes 360 hp and 400lb-ft torque
@@Uglier_God You are basing the potential resale value off the name.... If this turns out to be a shitbox with an old name then it won't be worth shit. Especially if that v4 or the trans turns out to be complete hot shit. Wait 5-10 years before we really start to say "Resale will be good"
your not finding a Pro 4X at 40K atm. Markups plus options will push them higher, and I would hardly call nissan products reliable :P

I got a 2019 SR5 access cab 4x4 V6 for 34k, also keeping it till it falls apart
In 1998 MSRP for a base 4wd was 18k that’s 35k today, tacomas didn’t get more expensive inflation is just crazy
But purchasing power is lower as well
Cheapest Tacoma will likely outlast the most expensive Tacoma, and it'll be easier to work on lol
Cheapest Tacoma also isn't cheap at all lol
Tacoma is lasting either way. Trim don’t matter the foundation is the same
IDK 4 cylinder turbo engines usually dont last past 150K miles. those NA V6 engine might have not had as much low end torque but toyota's V6 engines were very well made. This new 4 cylinder turbo is probably going to get you 100K because people will change the oil at 10K miles.

I like Toyota's philosophy of not releasing a product until its ready. Granted in the twin turbo V6 thats replacing the UR family of V8s does have some teething issues as well as the GR family having timing cover gasket issues. When Toyota does something, they actually try and get it right the first go
Live in the mountains and actually use these for what they are. Bought a new trd pro Tundra in 16, was only 45k. Was 5k over the non trd. Fair price for the leather, suspension, sounds, etc upgrades. It definitely drove a bit better than my stock 16 Tundra I have for a work truck, but the regular is no slouch. 65k for a smaller trd pro. That's a joke, and spending 65k on a truck that gets thrashed is also a joke. I have the 65k, and always buy new vehicles, but I just opted for an 03 tundra for 6k with 3" Bilstein lift and newer 33's. Can thrash it, fun as hell, and I still have 59k left over.
Still nothing beats the Toyota truck from the OG Back to the Future film. GOAT Toyota truck.
If you love Tacomas, I think your best bet is getting the base model and adding all the goodies you want. Trd and trail hunter completely missed the mark with the prices and I bet you could build an even better truck opting for the base model. Trd pro is for people who obviously have the money and for people who just want a truck that already has what they need.
