yeah it's not fast cash you have to be prepared to work. For me it was the amount of time that goes into reselling. Sourcing, cleaning, testing, photographing, listing, packing and shipping. I used to have Friday, Saturday and Sunday's off. I used to to go garage sales on Friday and clean and list on Saturday's and Sunday's......I've lost weekends to cleaning, testing and listing because I bought so much on Friday.
Storage of items is becoming more of a concern for me....I'm running out of room. LOL

I completely know how you feel about running out of room, I've been at a crisis level for a *long* time now lol. I did get some relief that I'm now storing some items in my parents shed but it's definitely not a long-term solution. Man, cleaning and testing items has become a real problem for me too. I've been putting most items that need cleaning or testing to the side and they've really piled up. When I source, I list the easier items so the things that need to be cleaned or tested just end up sitting on death pile shelves and now there are a *lot* of items that have accumulated over time that I now have to deal with. 🙄 I can't complain though because it's my own fault.

@@TrailerTrashFlips I do the same. List the items that can be listed right away lol

@@TrailerTrashFlips. I’m going through my death pile once a month or so and put together items to take to auction and items to donate. It keeps the piles down. I buy a lot of auction lots on hibid and often get stuff in them that I don’t want to list.

My wife lost her job in March of 2023. Ebay kept us afloat until she was able to land a new job in June of this year. I can speak from experience when I say doing it full time is VERY hard. A lot of the TH-camrs who do it get a BUNCH of sales from their online audience, whether they like to admit it or not. Thanks for the content as always!

It's awesome that ebay was able to bring in some income during your wifes job loss but yeah, full time time ebay is a whole different ballgame unless you're someone with almost no bills. I also agree that many of the youtubers *do* get a lot of their sales from viewers and I don't have any problem with that whatsoever, I just hope that people don't jump in thinking they can easily duplicate what they are seeing others do. They *can* probably duplicate it, just not easily!

Thank you, I appreciate it. You're a straight shooter also. I watch your videos and thought I was subbed to you under my other account but just checked and apparently I was mistaken so I'm going sub right now!

Great content, Trailer Trash Flips. I really appreciated your insights on the realities of reselling on eBay, especially the part about misconceptions regarding scalability. It's so true that more listings don't always equate to more sales! I'm curious, do you have any strategies in place to improve your sales conversion rate with your current inventory? Keep up the awesome work!

Thank you for the kind words. When I started selling a little over two years ago, it seemed like just about anything I listed, sold. At that time I was primarily listing items I sourced from the amazon bin store along with a little I sourced from garage sales and my ebay sales were pretty good, all things considered. I started sourcing more from estate sales and less from the bin store in hopes that more diverse inventory would increase my sales. That hasn't really happened. For the most part, I list a mix of items sourced from estate sales and some of my death pile itemd sourced from the bin store. I'm toying with the idea of drastically reducing my prices, maybe by as much as 50%, to try to clear out some of my current inventory. Even by reducing my prices by that much, I would still be able to turn a profit, although a much lower profit, because I paid between .50 to $1.00 for most of the bin store items and $2-4 for only a small percentage of them. The ultimate goal is to source better items in more diverse categories. The bulk of my current inventory will sell eventually if I did nothing but going back to the scalabilty issue, trying to scale on most of my current inventory isn't feasable, at least not to any significant degree. I will keep listing many items in my current death pile because I have a lot of it although I'm being considerably more selective about items that I source.

Those tubers you mentioned make there money from TH-cam they inflated there selling on eBay to hook people to watch there channel, I've been selling on eBay since 1998, and it doesn't work like that, stuff can sit in your store for years, it's rare to sell items within a few days . I have sold and have in my inventory items that these so called sellers sell immediately and for more then I'm asking, it's all smoke and mirrors

I agree with you and wonder how many sales they get from viewers also. Some of them state that they are viewer sales but some of them don't. I also have items that are listed cheaper than what some of the TH-camr resellers are selling them for and mine just sit lol. There is a big TH-cam reseller local to me and I watched them pick up an item that's very specific to this area and they sold it in 3 or 4 days. I have the *exact* same item, in the same condition and mine has been collecting dust for months lol.
