I sold Pampered Chef and have a ton that I use daily.
I do not believe the broken pcs. In the box are the actual item you shipped. Not only is it lighter in color, the shard has ridges and a lip that don't match.

I had the same thing happen last year, also with a pampered chef piece. Mine was very obvious, and to make things worse there was a gnarly foot on gross looking carpet in the picture. I messaged him back saying unfortunately that isn’t the pan I sent you. While I was on the phone with eBay telling them about the wackadoo he opened a return saying I didn’t send him the pictured pan but a different one and it’s broken. He never actually sent it back, guess he ran out of nerve. Sorry for the long comment. Hopefully your buyer does the same.

I just got my first negative in years. Left a comment they never received item, despite tracking showing it was delivered (and shipped and delivered on time.) eBay removed it in minutes after reporting it. What a REFRESHING change from years ago when I would waste hours on the phone getting the runaround, passed between multiple representatives, only to be denied feedback removal because it was "their opinion".

I've been selling on eBay for 20 years. I got my first negative feedback in July (seller wanted a new magazine, mine was used and marked - as stated in the listing). Feedback dropped from 100% to 99.7% which did not affect sales. In August, I sold a new, factory-sealed DVD, and the buyer left a negative review of the movie (he said the movie wasn't as good as the original). Ebay refused to remove the feedback and the seller refused to revise. Sales have fallen 25% since my feedback rating fell to 99.3% in August. I'm listing a lot, at bargain prices to improve feedback (now at 99.4%) but expect I'll have to wait until 12 months pass and the first negative drops off the feedback calculation, since only about half the buyers leave feedback.

Regarding feedback…I have been selling on eBay over 20 years- it used to worry me to get a negative. I have to say people are A LOT quicker to complain now. I have about one negative a year… some valid- some not. Don’t give it too much thought😊

I agree! I haven't been selling quite as long as you, maybe 5 years less, but totally see it. Recently I got a request for a partial refund on a lot of things that was $11! Starting to get tired of people fishing for a refund. Was also scammed recently when I put in a bonus item because I was feeling generous. They claim they only got the bonus item and not the actual item, so I had to refund that. I'll no longer include things that aren't included in the auction because of that person. People are not only quick to complain, they're also getting more brazen with the scams.

Hi Justin - this was very helpful, thank you. Regarding the authentication program, I am confused by the policy and don't understand what items qualify and how to activate it for my listings. I have listed and sold items that are designer/luxury brands with high listing prices, so I thought they would qualify. When I look at my store, I don't see any indication that they are marked as such. I definitely had to pay for the shipping label, too and it went directly to the customer, so clearly it didn't go through ebay's program. Thanks in advance for walking us through this!

Unless your customer takes the item to their post office for their storage, they really have to send it back in order for me to collect insurance payment from the post office. A recent experience I had: Customer sent photos of a broken bowl so I filed a claim with USPS, however they denied the claim because they did not receive the broken item in its original box. Supposively the post office now retains the items in storage for up to 2 years. This is a change from past years.

In my very limited experience, it is not easy, if even possible, to have negative feedback removed. I received a message from a buyer stating that they received an item damaged, refused to send it back for a full refund with various excuses, and stated that if I didn’t give them a specific refund amount and let them keep the item, they would me negative feedback, then they left it after I didn’t comply. Despite multiple times contacting support and escalating, pasting both the buyers message and eBay’s own policy, eBay continues to refuse to remove it.

Justin you missed something! The seller with the neutral feedback, the buyer mentioned that he used a forwarding address which is against ebays terms of service. I get a load of these in the UK that come with a code similar to GSP. I've then had these people complain that the items havent arrived in an acceptable condition because as far as I can see they're going to a UK address. Using a forwarding company is actually against ebays terms of service and the buyer could get his feedback removed for that reason alone. Just something I thought I'd point out.

Im the one who asked the question, an yes I was actually reading up on that specific policy. The buyer said he lives in Canada but had my shoes shipped to some place in the USA an he had to go across the bridge an do this an that, which was the reason he was writing me 9 days after item was delivered telling me the patten letter was scratched more then the pictures shown. It was just the way he worded his messages, "before I leave you feedback, how would you like to fix this issue?" I offered a full refund an he quit writing but 1 month later his feedback says I was not cooperative or didn't want to fix the problem

I reported them to eBay, blocked them, and replied saying I think you mixed me up with another seller & spelled out why. Within minutes my messages disappeared, as if ebay flagged them.

I’d estimate that 10-20% of my glass/breakable items end up arriving broken. It’s always seemed to me that it’s unlikely - given how well I pack things - that so much is breaking during transit, but then again, I have seen how poorly all of the delivery companies treat packages. I had not really considered “challenging” the returns by making them send the item back to confirm it’s what I shipped. It seemed like a pure waste of money to me. I will give this a try at some point in the future - and keep an eye on your update from this item. Thanks!

Hey Justin, I enjoy your videos. i recently paid for flipwise. I love how it works and looking at my data on it, and I wish I could put all my notes into it magically. Unfortunately, every time I start entering cost data i think to myself, this could be time spent adding new listings. Even after catching up to old items, and if I just entered info as I buy, it feels like wasted time in comparison to putting listings up. So I was wondering if you had any advice as I’m thinking I may give up on flipwise. I don’t think I can put the time into adding the important cost, source, and location info. Maybe I can hire someone to do it, as I love looking at the info in it.
I put my newly bought items into a notebook once I get home, with date and cost. If I could enter that into flipwise then instead, ahead of it ever going on eBay, that would be huge for me.

Hi Justin! I have a question regarding shipping to an authenticator. This week, your best flip was a pair of New Balance sneakers that went through the eBay authentication program. You said the cost of shipping was $0 because shipping to an authenticator is free. I recently sold some diamond earrings and had to pay shipping and insurance, for a total of about $35, to send the to the authenticator. After hearing your experience, I did some research on eBay and in seller chat groups. It appears that whether the seller has to pay shipping to the authenticator depends on the item sold. So, no cost to ship sneakers but $$ to ship jewelry. Can you elaborate on this issue? I could not find eBay's current policy. Thanks!

I asked if they received the pieces in the photos from my listing. He wouldn’t answer the question. I asked if he would take a photo of what he received but wouldn’t do that either. Told me that if I didn’t send him the part he would report me to eBay. I kindly suggested that he return the item but he didn’t want to do that. Finally he sent me a screen shot of my listing and it wasn’t mine. Next thing, I’m getting an email from eBay for item not shipped. I responded to him to return the item or let eBay decide and that I anticipate his negative feedback. I just wanted proof that I sent the wrong item but he wouldn’t send me proof. Hey Justin - Great videos. My wife and I will often jokingly say WWJD (What would Justin do?) when discussing our resaling.
Two questions. First, I've heard anecdotal stories that labeling breakable items with a FRAGILE sticker can actually lead to the package being treated even more roughly by disgruntled delivery people. I am not one to stereotype nor assume malintent by postal carriers (their jobs are tough) but curious on your thoughts to label things as fragile or not.
My other question is regarding your rising youtube fame. Has anyone recognized you yet while "out in the world" based on seeing you on youtube?

I am every month or so deleting and relisting with maybe 2-10% less price each time depending on many things, usually smaller side. Thinking you must mark down rarely to have an item last that long, right? Maybe i should be sticking it out longer for bigger amounts. I’ve been more willing lately also cause I’m stretched a little thin and can use more money now, so it’s more important for me to get cash out than maximize profits.

Hi Justin - Question about eBay promotions to move my listing closer to the top: I can see how promoting will help if I am listing a common item like a Bible of which there are tons listed, but if I am listing an uncommon item like the book "Six Seconds in Dallas", an alternate theory on JFK's assassination and there are only 7 copies listed, does promoting only get me to the top of those 7 listings, or does promoting put my listing in front of people who search more broadly for "JFK", or "Kennedy assassination", or "conspiracy theories"? I feel like promoting specific items still helps it get in front of people searching in the ballpark area of my specific item. Second question: can you explain what you are doing with all the very brief video edits in your videos, like you are splicing several takes together? It doesn't sound like you are splicing, but it looks like you are splicing. Love the videos - antidotes to the over the top click bait videos with some bro shouting at me.

Two things.....I wouldnt necessarily say negative feedback wont affect your business. 1 person out of 1k decides to check your feedback then decide not to purchase something because of said feedback. With hundreds of thousands of buyers I would say that is sure does change things. Not that youll ever notice lol but hey js. Second I wanted to point out when you request a feedback revision from a buyer. They can decide to change it to neutral or positive in turn removing the negetive. Anyways man good work with your yt I enjoy tuning in

I'm a buyer who does factor in feedback ratings before I purchase. I'll specifically filter for negative ratings and see if there's a commonality to the complaints e.g packaging/wrong items sent etc. If it's the same type of complaint across span of buyers I'll move on.

Hello. I'm a new seller on eBay and really need some information on how advanced ebayers do their research of an item you don't know anything about. I had a little luck on some items with Google lenses. Much less efficient is an eBay integrated picture match option. For some reason, Google Lens finds stuff listed on eBay that eBay feature fails to. Are there any other tools? Also, where do I see stuff that sold on eBay prior to 90 days? Thank you

I literally just had 2 returns on completely new sealed in box items that I put a ton of bubble wrap in, saying it's broken. Both new customers to ebay(not saying that all new ebay customers are scammers. But man, this is fishy. Wish I took pictures of the serial numbers but to do that for every listing would be a lot of effort, but going to do that going forward, I don't trust these buyers.

But if they send it back, you lose your seller protection, and you void the guarantee for opening a damaged claim. You will automatically lose if they send it back.

Can you remove positive feedback, had a buyer leave positive feedback saying don’t buy from this guy he never shipped my item while I was on scheduled leave it is a negative comment but left it as positive I assume so I couldn’t get it removed?

While I agree making the seller return the item when you think something is fishy with the return request, once the seller returns it, eBay will automatically refund them. I have had this issue before and eBay is on the buyers side EVERY time! Then you are out the cost of return shipping and still have to refund. How do you argue that a buyer is being shady and actually win your case with eBay?

Negative feedback story - I’ll make this short - I’m a top rated seller and I sold a nice vintage tall plastic Starbucks tumbler with straw. On the non-intellectual’s third use the top got stuck on so they gave me negative feedback. I asked eBay to remove it because, in addition to the buyer not being all there, they didn’t follow the return process nor give me a chance to address before the inconceivable feedback. eBay still has a ways to go in my humble opinion.

Keep scammers at bay....be sure to take pics on every angle, add video. If you do get scammed, ease write a negative on their feedback warning other sellers and you can report them to their local law enforcement agencies and fbi....it is theft, plain and simple.

That is so bizarre to leave a neutral feedback like that with no expectation of resolving anything. And they're willing to buy from you again. Then why would anybody care about their smelly blanket that they believe can smell nice in the future? 😂

That broken dish does not look like yours at all. Darker vs lighter and as someone said, pampered chef has no ridges. I have never had more returns than the last few months in all of my 27 yrs selling in ebay.
Ebay needs to change their return policy. First, 3 months to decide to return an item is outrageous. I received a 33 day( less 3 days ship) notice of return. Dress didn't fit right. She then gets 24 days to return the item. Dress bought 8/19, asked to return 9/21 and she has till 10/15 to get it back to me, a $20.00 item. She can wear the dress lots of times in that time frame. Second, doesn't matter what your return policies are either. I sold a14K antique baby ring few weeks ago. She complained it wasn't gold. After I said you bought a 14k baby ring and that is exactly what you received, she said well, I had to put something in the reason for return box. So, even if I had no returns on the listing, ebay still accepts the return because most every buyer knows, they just have to check not as described and they get an automatic return acceptance. I couldn't even withhold the shipping refund because I felt it was her problem, not mine, because ebay gave her that back as well. 3 days before that request, I received another one where she said item doesn't match description or photos. Ebay is deceiving sellers into thinking they can have a no returns policy. Finally, all these bogus returns impact your seller rating on ebay which is not fair.

Why do Feedback exist if they don't have any impact on the shop 🤔 they are just useless, eBay should just remove the feedback all together.

  • @robertocolon6723
    @robertocolon6723 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes, feedback does still matters! If you see repeated negative feedback given to a particular seller, than there's a problem with the seller.
You should beware of this seller, or at least be prepared for what you might eventually have to deal with. If 90% of negative feedback says the same thing about a seller, then it's the seller!!!
