I always enjoy watching your videos, and when I learned that our sizing is almost identical, I decided to start from your first video and eventually watch them all! Funny enough, your garments remind me very much of the type sewing and smocking I did for myself and my children when they were very small (in the 1990's)! It's funny how styles repeat! Thank you for offering such delightful videos!
Thank you Mary, I am so glad you are enjoying the videos and so glad they are helpful. I really love smocking and classic children's clothes are my favourite. ❤
Lovely first blog. Gorgeous makes. I love you and your daughter's matching dresses, they're beautiful. The boys shirts were brilliant. All things were lovely. Thanks 😊
Thanks so much Bridget. The boys look so sweet when they wear their shirts, I am looking forward to making them another pair of shirts next Easter! Thanks for watching! ❤
Lovely makes. It's good to know when patterns run contrary to the measurements. I finished 2 UFO skirts that had been cut and partially finished since the turn of the century. Sounds older than they are, but saying 20 years doesn't make it sound much better. You do lovely work.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. It is so satisfying to get UFO's finished. I hope you are enjoying wearing your skirts! Thanks for watching.
Thanks so much Elise! The Hughes dress is such a lovely pattern. I really enjoyed making it - and I love the fact that I can make it in more heavy fabrics for the winter too - nice to have a pattern that can be trans seasonal!
Wonderful first vlog! I really enjoyed watching. You've had such a productive April...and you've made some gorgeous garments. Love your Kielo wrap dress. I'm the same, not a fan of adding seam allowance! Take a look at oliver and s patterns and twig and tale too as they have some lovely patterns for children. We have very similar measurements, I'm much smaller on my top half too, so it was interesting to hear about fit issues that you'd had xx
Hey, love all your April makes! Beautiful Hughes dress, have you contacted Chelsea at Friday just in case she’s not noticed the differences in SA? I test for Friday frequently so this is super helpful xx
Thanks so much Emma! The Hughes dress is definitely a favourite and it is a great idea to contact Chelsea about the SA differences - I will do that. Thanks so much for watching! ❤
Hi Sherrel. I am just under 5'5'' which is ok for most patterns, but I do find myself shortening quite a few, as there are a few companies that draft for 5'6'' or 5'7''.
Some lovely makes. I’ve just ordered some fabric to make the kielo wrap dress, and was thinking of doing a knee length version, did you do the split up the back in your version?
Thanks so much Diane! The Kielo was such a lovely pattern to sew. I shortened it by cutting the pattern piece at the knee line and just left out the split altogether. There is plenty of room to move about as it hasn't narrowed too much by that point. Hope that you enjoy making your Kielo!
Hi Shelley, I am originally from New Zealand, so that is where my accent is from! I will happily share a bit about myself in my May Makes video. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@sewamelia I look forward to hearing about you? You are a great sewist . How did you learn? How long you’ve been sewing? You mention your mum taught you to smock ~ love that . Happy sewing
I’m sewing a casual jacket for my my sister who was always bigger until I was 15. I suddenly grew to 5’ 9”. Oh my, it was a shock.

Very interesting video. I love your accent. Perhaps you could tell us a bit about yourself - only if you are happy too.
