I found your "Day/Week in the Life" blog fun to watch. You are one busy lady! While I do like the bright blue/green fabric, I think the pink floral would show off the design details better. I look forward to seeing your choice sewn up. Thanks, Amelia.
A serger can make the most beautiful rolled hem. Take out the left needle, turn your dials where they need to go, and crank up the lower needle tension. I do them a lot, also use the Ban-roll method as well, but the serger is quick and easy and works beautifully.
I'd live in that skirt, that came out great! That dress pattern is so lovely, and honestly the demure floral pattern would be my comfort zone 😆 BUT, there is no denying that the bright blue fabric would be extremely Cool and fashion-forward looking. I think the blue would look fantastic on you and be SO fun to wear. Can't wait to see what you do with it! 💙💚
I like the bright fabric for a statement dress and the floral for a classic everyday dress. As for the skirt it is lovely. For a rolled hem i only have a sewing machine, I got the hang of feeding the fabric through the presser feet. The presser foot does the rest. Mind you the type of fabric may make a difference.
Thank you! I love the bright fabric too. I think I might just need to keep practicing with the rolled hem foot - it really seems like quite an art to use it!
Use the pink flora cotton lawn for the Othelia dress. It will have a lovely look and drape for the puffed sleeves and the ruffles. The bright green & blue fabric would be too stiff. Side note: Whenever you mention about preparing dinner, I am always curious what you are making.
Great blog. I watched a vlog by Whitney from TomKat Stitchery . She made a baby hem on a bias skirt around Christmas Time. She used something called Ban roll and it made the perfect baby hem. I bought some on Wawak and now I use it on my viscose shirts and dresses . Your skirt turned out beautiful.
When you were talking about the hem I actually said "bias binding" out loud. I can't get the hang of using the rolled hem foot either. I've heard that if you just keep practicing you'll eventually acquire the skill, but my capacity for frustration is too limited to persevere.😁
Love your gingham dress such a pretty deep ruby red. I like both the options for the project, for me the blue/green is just an smifge ahead. What a good Mummy you are! Fixing the important things. I pruned my roses and planted some more Iris (my favourites) this week for spring. No tips for rolled hems I always use a self fabric bias for hems. They look neat and professional - just like yours does. Happy sewing 🦘🇦🇺
Thanks so much Kaye. I do like self fabric bias for hems too - I think it looks so lovely and neat. I love the blue/green fabric too - so excited to start working on this project!
Love this vlog, Amelia . So glad you holidayed here in New Zealand with your family. Its been a beautiful sunny Saturday and now its time to sit down , after dinner and enjoy catching up with your sewing. 🌷🪻🌸
The Ophelia dress is so pretty. I made one in magenta cotton linen. I think the bright blue would be quite a show stopper. Which do you think you would wear more?
I would love to know how you make your own Granola. I do a lot of baking but I've never made that before. I had some awesome Granola when I was a kid and I've had nothing as good since. This might be the start if something new😊.
I love baking and making our own granola too! I have made the Deliciously Ella recipe from her first book for years and just tweak it to include whatever nuts/seeds/dried fruit I have in the pantry. I have popped a link to the recipe on her blog in the description box. I hope you enjoy making it!!
Hello Amelia, I enjoy all of your videos; your fabric choices are amazing. Please tell me the pattern for the red gingham dress you're wearing ( I think you wore it on Monday of this video). The dress is beautiful.
Trying to get to the fabric weaving studio in Christchurch Thanks for letting us know can’t wait to see the toys 🧸 I love both the fabrics for the Ophelia dress I would make the floral one , more Laura Ashley yummy Have fun Denise 🇳🇿
Thank you Denise, I hope you get to go to the Handmade Studio, it was such a lovely place to visit. I think the floral one would definitely have Laura Ashley vibes!
Personally I think the floral would look lovely as an ophelia and the bright fabric as an Anna dress by hand London. Either will look lovely though and beautifully sewn by you for sure. Loved this vlog. Have you seen the new Rosery Apparel skirt ? I was wondering if I would see you had tested it on your vlog today. Xx
The bright fabric would make a beautiful Anna! I really can't decide between the two as they would both be so lovely I think. I didn't test for Janelle sadly, but I would love to make the skirt, it looks beautiful!
Ooh Amelia, could you tell us the recipe for your muesli, knowing what goes in is very tempting. Love your skirt! Both dresses would be lovely but I prefer the bright one, a bit of a contrast to the demure pattern. Great video as usual!
Thank you Mary, I think I like the bright fabric best too. I have made this recipe for years - so much so I tweak it every time - adding a tsp of cinnamon instead of the orange juice and whatever nuts/raisins etc. that I have in the store cupboard! www.deliciouslyella.com/recipes/nutty-granola/
Your skirt turned out so pretty!! For future projects, hemming on light, delicate, and even sheer fabrics can be done more easily and precisely with a product called ban roll. I'll include a link to a short TH-cam tutorial by Downtown Tailoring. th-cam.com/video/H8SA4mmz2-8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-F74MGWzqJaf-hw_
Pink floral gets my vote. I think it will show the ruffle details beautifully. Another great video!
The pink floral is so pretty. It would make such a lovely Ophelia!

Thanks so much Nan, I am so glad you enjoyed the video!
No hesitation here Amelia, the bright fabric will be wonderful for Ophelia!
I really think it will be so lovely for summer with those bright colours!

Thanks so much for the tip - I really need to try a rolled hem on my overlocker!
Be brave and go for the bright - the pink is beautiful but the blue will be a stunning stand-out! Good luck ❤ xx
Thanks so much Sue!
The pink fabric is lovely and the best.xx
Thank you!
I love bias bound hems! I'd go with the bright fabric for the Ophelia 😊
I love that one!
I'd live in that skirt, that came out great!

It really is the most comfy skirt - I've already worn it loads! I am having so much difficulty choosing between the two fabrics!
100% the bright fabric! It looks so good, and is definitely in your colour wheel!
Thanks! I really love wearing those colours.
The bright fabric looks like a good color for you. Would love to see it made up.
Looking forward to sharing it soon!
Fun video. I prefer the pink fabric for the Ophelia dress.
Thanks so much!
I really love the bright fabric for your Ophelia dress😊
Thanks! Me too!

Bias binding so much better than anything!!!❤
I agree!
Bright all the way!
Hi Amelia, I think the floral material would be perfect for the dress.
Thank you!
Oh I think they would look very different. I would go for the bright one.
Thank you! I think they would give quite different looks. I love the bright one so much.

Thanks for the recommendation - I will check out Whitney's video as it sounds really helpful!

I am with you!! I get so frustrated and just can't find the time/energy to keep practicing using it!
Love your gingham dress such a pretty deep ruby red.

Smifge - er smidge maybe.😂

It was such precious family time in NZ. Thanks so much for watching!
Super video Amelia! I think the bright fabric would look amazing as an Ophelia dress. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Thank you Fiona, I really love that fabric. I hope you have a lovely weekend too.
I think the floral fabric would look lovely for that sweet dress.❤
It would look so delicate in the floral I think.
Love both your fabrics but definitely the blue/green for your collaboration 😊
Thanks so much 😊
Bright fabric for the lovely dress. 💖
Thanks!!
I would choose the blue and green fabric
Thank you!
The pink floral is my recommendation. It's so dreamy and romantic! It suits the pattern perfectly.
Thank you - I love the fabric so much.
The bright fabric love it! Xx
Thanks! I really love that one too!
The Ophelia dress is so pretty. I made one in magenta cotton linen. I think the bright blue would be quite a show stopper. Which do you think you would wear more?
Wow, it would look so good in linen! I think I would possibly wear the small floral more?
Bright fabric. The other one is lovely but I think the pattern would make the most of the beautiful bright fabric.
Thank you so much, I totally agree!
Ooh the bright fabric would be such a statement in that dress - stunning ❤
Thanks! I think so too. 😊
Bright!!! Love it!! ❤
Me too!!
Bright fabric!
Your skirt turned out very pretty and the bias hem is the right choice.great video Amelia .enjoyed every bit of it
Thank you so much, that is very kind!
Love spending the week with you, lovely skirt, do you always use a rotary cutter for cutting xx
Floral fabric it really suits the cottage vibe of the dress , i do like both fabrics though
It does have a beautiful cottage-core vibe, doesn't it!
Great video, Amelia, my choice for Ophelia dress would be the pink fabric.
Thank you!
Hi, my vote. Is the floral but of course either will be beautiful.
A collaboration. I love it when the two kiwi Amelia's get together xxxxx Clare 🇬🇸🥝
It is so much fun doing collaborations with the other Amelia! :)
