What beautiful garments, Amelia! I especially like your daughter’s dresses. I so miss having little girls for whom to sew, so being able to watch your makes touches my heart. 😘
Thank you so much Lynn for your lovely comment. It brings me so much joy to sew for my children and I am so glad you enjoy seeing the little garments I make for my daughter.
Everything turned out so beautifully! You look lovely in all of them and so creative! Your daughter dresses are gorgeous, brings back memories. Always enjoy your videos.🪡🧵👗🥰
@@sewamelia When I was a little girl, my mother took a sewing class that was being offered to adults at a local high school. Turned out that she had quite a good fashion sense and developed wonderful technique. She ended up designing/creating gorgeous wedding dresses for two of her sisters-in-law, along with the most beautiful garments for my sister and I. We were the envy of our classmates all through school as we had, by far, the most extensive and fantastic wardrobes. Our mother passed away 25 years ago, and we still reminisce about the different outfits that she made for us. We now have great times sharing photos (taken by our father) of us wearing our clothes with her great-grandchildren. Her gifts continue to delight future generations and help the new children to feel connected to an ancestor whom they never met, but who surely would have loved them - and sewn for them. I have a feeling that you and your daughter will have a similarly heart-warming experience to share. Enjoy the journey that the two of you are taking! ❤
Loved the Kelly dress. The challenge dress looks really nice. My older sister wore a sailor dress with a bob haircut and a fringe. It is a really cute look.
I loves these makes! And your daughter’s dresses are the sweetest! I agree, Liberty every day. Would love to see the lining video. So many lovely sheer fabrics out there and the days are steamy here in the southern US.
Hi Amelia, All your makes are lovely but… Like your daughter I love her “garden dress” -so sweet and practical. The sailor dress is my very favourite - your daughter is a lucky girl to have such a talented mum. I thought Princess Charlotte also looked lovely at the Trooping of the Colour in hers. Happy sewing🦘🇦🇺
I think what I love about all of your makes is that you have such a good sense of your style coupled with taking the time to get the fit. I have been waiting to hear the skipper dress details. It is so sweet!
Thank you so much Christine, that is very kind of you. I really like working on a make so that the fit is as good as I can get it! I really love the Skipper dress and so does my daughter, which is lovely!
I would very much love to see the lining video. Thanks for sharing with us all your great makes. I’ve purchased the Nell dress pattern this morning, bought the fabric, now I have to pluck up the courage to make it.
I hope you really enjoy making your Nell dress! Tilly's instructions are so great, and I think she has a video to go along with it if you like a sew along. I will get my lining tutorial up on TH-cam as soon as I can edit it - I hope it is helpful!
Such beautiful makes! Your daughter’s sailor dress is just gorgeous! And that bird skirt is joyful!! I can’t wait to get started on my Kelly Dress! Love yours 🥐
Lovely garments. When I was a girl I had several sailor outfits. My mother sewed them for me. Mother bought my daughter a sailor suit when she was 18 mos. She wore it all of the time. The dresses for your daughter are just precious. Almost ficve, such a fun age.
I love your makes especially the Kelly dress, and your M&M skipper dress. For fabric for your son, I think you might like to try pound fabrics. They have some lovely fabrics at really reasonable prices. They have a lovely cotton jersey in navy and white called street art which I think is great for boys.
All of your makes are beautiful! I loved every garment and am inspired to get busy making some dresses and blouses from my stash and collection of patterns. Thank you for inviting us into your sewing room!
Oooh! I love all of your recent makes; great job!!! I would definitely be interested in seeing a video of how you lined your wonderful Nell dress. The Mizzle dress is adorable and I love that you made it entirely from left-over fabric pieces. I agree - I'd also like this in an adult size. 😀
Oh my goodness what beautiful makes! I have the Skipper dress pattern and now I absolutely have to get on and make it. Adore the other little dresses too. All your finishing is perfection and everything is inspiring! 🤩👌❤️
Thank you so much, Sue! I really enjoyed making the Skipper dress. It is such a lovely pattern and I am so glad to have been able to make her a sailor dress, rather than buying a rtw one!
Oh my goodness Amelia your vlog was worth waiting for. What gorgeous makes I just couldn't pick a favourite. Your attention to detail and sewing skills are just first class. I have waited for your vlog to finish to download the Skipper which I have been looking at for ages. Thank you for your videos...... any that you do re sewing tutorials are always worth watching. x
Thank you so much Libby for your lovely comment! I really loved making these dresses and skirts. The Skipper is such a lovely pattern, I will definitely be making it again soon!
What lovely makes , you have been busy👍well done 🎉 Used your code for the Kelly dress thanks, as I had been looking at it yesterday . I just love the fabric colours you choose. Enjoy your summer holidays
Super video Amelia! Love all your makes especially the Kelly dress and your daughter’s ‘garden’ dress and the Liberty pin tuck dress! It would be great to see how you lined your Nell dress. Hope you enjoy your weekend!
I am so loving the gorgeous dress on your manikin. One quick question: is that fabric a light grey or a cream color. It looks much lighter color in the pics where you are wearing it. Stunning! All your makes are lovely and your daughters makes are so precious! 🥰
Thank you Theresa! The fabric is a brown and cream gingham so it looks really different in different light. I really loved making the little dresses for my daughter - she is such fun to sew for!
@@sewamelia Thank you for your kind reply. I have never had a little girl to sew for. So the last few years I have been making simple little dresses for Project Dress a Girl. It's a blast!
Thx for this video, so many great creations. I’m wondering how you made sleeves for your daughter’s Liberty dress by using another pattern. Was that pattern piece a puffy sleeve?
I used a puffed sleeve from the Peony Pattern's Camellia dress. I have used it before on other dresses, so I was pretty confident it would work on this one too.
I bought the merchant and mills eve trousers I’m only small and even the size 6 swamped me , it’s so annoying that indie companies are making everything oversized and really frustrating. I’ve just made the nell in size 1 and I love it but it’s still quite big on me 😫, I don’t want to keep buying patterns and have to make loads of adjustments
It is a little frustrating when a pattern is so, so oversized! I think I might take some volume out of the back bodice next time I make the Nell, but I do like it as a floaty sundress! Have you tried patterns from The Petite Dressmaker? They look really lovely and the fit might be better?
What beautiful garments, Amelia! I especially like your daughter’s dresses. I so miss having little girls for whom to sew, so being able to watch your makes touches my heart. 😘
Thank you so much Lynn for your lovely comment. It brings me so much joy to sew for my children and I am so glad you enjoy seeing the little garments I make for my daughter.
