Fabulous month for you. The denim dress is incredible! If you haven't tried this, sometimes hammering thick layers of denim flattens them for buttonholes. I hammer onto the bottom of a cast iron skillet, and it makes a big difference. Worth a try!
I love your denim dress hack Amelia, it looks great. Could you use similar poppers to those on your Pogonip to fasten the cuffs on the dress instead of buttons? Your pogonip looks great too. Love the fabric choice and high neck. It looks super cosy ❤
I'm very impressed with your Pogonip Amelia. So far i've not been tempted by this pattern at all, but yours is lovely. The mods you have made, especially the bottom band has made such a pleasing difference. Congrats.
Your Pogonip looks so cuddly and warm and it looks good on you.I really like your green mash up dress and it looks very much like the Jackie dress by Victoria patterns.lovely video.💐
Hi Amelia, you do sew some beautiful clothes, I love your Pogonip, I don’t like the original cuffs or waistband either but yours is just perfect it makes me want one. ❤❤
Beautiful makes, Amelia! Have you considered sewing the buttonholes in each layer of the cuff before it's constructed, or even cut out, as a work around? It would be a little challenging to do, but might do the trick. Basting the pieces before they're sewn might help, too.
Your pogonip pullover in that gorgeous animal print fabric is so beautiful 😍 and I remember seeing that beautiful denim dress on insta! Gorgeous makes ❤
Love your Pogonip. I was put off by the cropped style and wondered what it would look like made a little longer. You’ve answered that question: it looks fabulous! I bet it feels warmer too!
Uhhhh......I will send my measurements and take 1 of each of those please!❤😅😂 That is just to let you know that I loved ALL of them. Absolute perfection.😊 I just finished up a Liesel&Co classic button front shirt in a dark blue chambray fabric. I took my time as well, and loved the outcome. I started it in the fall and worked on it here and there. I was making my granddaughter some things and a pair of pjs for her brother. That is why the long delay in getting it finished. Also took my time, but obviously I didn't need that long.😅 I have a shirt dress for myself and a couple spring dresses cut out for my granddaughter. I also have a couple baby quilts I need to get made. Could be a busy late winter, early spring. Thank you for your inspiring videoes!🤗
You are so kind Katrina, thank you! I really love the look of a classic button up shirt - I feel like I really need one in my summer wardrobe! It sounds like you are going to have a really busy few months - what gorgeous projects to be sewing up!
As always Amelia, BEAUTIFUL Makes and I always love your attention to detail. From the dresses (my personal favorite type of garment), to the fit, to the recreated denim look, to handling a tricky fluffy fabric for a cozy pogonip, you nailed it!
Hello there You certainly have had a productive January, it’s sew lovely to see all your makes. I’m joining in the Pogonip party in February and am actually interlining my pattern pieces as I watch. We have chosen very similar fabric. I’m also doing a regular French Terry one to compare. I’m so glad I watched your video before I went full in because your experience has really helped me make some decisions Katherine is an excellent shopping buddy ❤
Amazing January makes. Your dress is beautiful and such a wonderful dress for the cooler months. I love your Pogonip 🤩 So so sew lovely to see you the other day, can’t wait to do it all over again xxxx
Amazing makes Amelia, denim dress is my favourite, absolutely love it! I’m realising I have a soft spot for 70s stuff 😉 No tried and tested ideas for the buttonholes I’m afraid. Only thing I thought of was doing 2 separate button holes on each side of the fabric before you make the cuff so you’re just working on a single layer but then I guess you’d have to sew round it afterwards to stop the 2 layers from separating??!! Might not hold up well if you’re undoing the buttons a lot but if they’re less functional then it might work. I’m not very experienced though so just likes trying to think of a solution, might not be at all practical! Congrats on all your lovely makes for January xx
I ❤ your pogonip! I am so glad I watched this before sewing up mine later today. I think I will adapt mine as well including lengthening the sleeve and widening the bands. I purchased a pre-quilted fabric from Blackbird fabrics that is hot pink on one side and black on the other. I also have a cream Sherpa that I have from Discovery Fabrics that I was going to make a Patagonia dupe with but it may end up a Pogonip after seeing yours. For your denim dress (which looks amazing) I would have done snaps instead of buttons, even though they cause me great anxiety 😂. Thank you so much for sharing your makes in detail, it really helps! Happy weekend from Vancouver Island 🇨🇦 😊
Thank you Rosa! I am really glad you enjoyed seeing the alterations I made to the Pogonip and I hope you enjoy sewing up yours too! I did consider poppers instead of buttons but used what I had in my stash in the end. I am so glad you enjoyed hearing all the details.
Got stuck myself on thick sweatshirting trying to make buttonholes, machine was giving me fits. (Really heavyweight material, 2 layers) oddly enough, it was recommended to me to use a tear away interfacing, that it wasn’t the motor of the machine that couldn’t get through the fabric, and I had the right needle, but the feed dogs were confused. By adding the temp interfacing (I used tear away and rinse away) on the bottom, it gave the feed dogs something besides the heavy fabric to grab into, and got those buttonholes in. That said, snaps are a useful option when buttonholes are harder than they should be. Hope that’s helpful.
I love that navy Liberty fabric. I was lucky enough to get some in Japan last year. I can't wait to see what you make from it. I'm too scared to cut into mine 😅
I live in the southern U.S. and we really only get about 6 weeks of winter so I'm already focused on my spring sewing. I love your dresses and often times wish I wore dresses more often. I am planning on making a few and forcing myself to give it a go. I'm not originally from the south and it can get quite hot here and dresses are much more comfortable.
Oh I would love to live somewhere with only 6 weeks of winter! I hope you enjoy your spring and summer sewing. I really love dresses in the summer, they are so lovely and cool!
Love the makes this month Amelia. It's been really hot here in Western Australia. I'm talking 45 degrees hot! So it's been too hot for humans. Despite that though, this week I have been working on making swimwear for myself. I've almost finished two sets. School went back this week also so it has been a little busy getting back into the swing of things. Once the swimwear is complete, I'll need to make a long sleeved white shirt and linen pants (before Thursday) so that I have something worth wearing to the school swimming carnival. The bathers will be required as I'm a water starter for the children who find swimming a bit of a challenge. It also means I can go to water aerobics and the hydrotherapy pool to exercise before my hip surgery in March - it will help the muscles to be stronger to aid recovery. I also need to find time to make headbands, my red bra (it's a kit for the Black Beauty bra and I've been wanting to make it for over a year now) and some sleepwear, probably nighties as they will fill three categories of a sewing challenge I'm doing this year. All this might not happen in the space of a week but I'll give it a good hard crack nevertheless. Looking forward to seeing what you use your Shaukat purchase with.
Oh my, so many lovely things to make - it makes me miss the summer weather! Hope you enjoy it! I'm looking forward to sharing my ideas for the Liberty fabric soon.
Wow, love your makes. I really like the fact you take time over making your garments and enjoy the process. I want to make staple pieces too that I can call on and not just churn things out in a day and not finish hems etc. this is fine if that’s what you want but not for me. I love machine embroidery so spending time on my machine is a pleasurable experience. I have four interchangeable pieces I am making, first the Heather dress which is kind to me as it gives more ease. Then a hathor waistcoat, onyx pants and jarrah sweatshirt. All in fabrics that go well together. Once I’ve made these I’ll work on my next stapes. Thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you so much Yvonne. I am so glad you enjoyed seeing my makes from this month. Your sewing plans sound so lovely - I love the idea of sewing capsule pieces that work well together.
beautiful quality makes, all lovely, particularly like the pogonip and the denim dress, dreamy. Same here with Friday pattern Co, always need 2 to 3 inches more on sleeve length. I do have longer arms but usually add 1 inch on other patterns, Friday pattern Co seem to come up particularly short. Still only want to make cosy comfies, not wanting to make spring makes yet
Thank you so much Jane, it is so interesting to hear that others have had the same experience with Friday pattern sleeve lengths. I am torn between keeping sewing cosies and getting some spring makes started!
Aw Amelia these winter makes are stunning , I tend to start my winter makes in October / November which means by January/ February I’m ready to start on my spring/ summer makes. We tend to holiday quite early and we are planning a four week tour of Italy ( in our motorhome) starting mid May so I’m already planning my holiday makes. Luckily I purchased a few summer fabrics late last summer which give me a head start. Xx
Oh a holiday in Italy sounds just divine - it is definitely my favourite country to visit (after NZ of course!) I am so happy with these winter makes and definitely feel ready to start working on some more spring/summer bits now. Hope you enjoy starting on your warm weather projects!
Fabulous makes Amelia. Love your denim dress, its a really 70's style and very smart but casual lol if that makes sense. I'm on the fence with the pogonip because of the elasticated waist and cropped style. I think what you have done with yours has given me pause for thought about it, because I'm with you on the length. Yours is stunning and very trendy. No more winter makes for me, I'm onto spring and summer sewing already.
Thank you so much Annette! I really like the smart/casual vibes of the denim dress - it means that I have worn it so much already! I also am finding the Pogonip really wearable and am so glad I left off the elastic! Thanks so much for watching.
Beautiful makes Amelia, thank you for sharing. I have the Pogonip pattern but have not yet made it. My overlocker has only just come back after requiring new blades and presser foot.
Hi Amelia, I really like your idea of lining the Pogonip with jersey. Please can you tell me how you secured the lining to the pieces when you sewed it? I love your vlogs, always full of inspiration.
Thank you! I started out by overlocking the jersey to the fleece as an interlining. Once I had joined the two fabrics together I then treated it as one piece of fabric and sewed the pullover together following the pattern instructions.
Loved all your makes but particularly the denim dress and the green winter dress. That one would also look lovely with the Freya cowl neck. What is the name of your friend’s channel? The captions said Sovon Bakery but nothing came up in searches.
Beautiful makes Amelia. Great job spotting the sleeve length before you cut out the pogonip, it looks so cosy 😊
Thank you, although it was the lovely Rachael from The French Seams who reminded me about the sleeve length in her brilliant Pogonip video!
You’re pogonip is definitely the nicest one I’ve seen so far. Much prefer the changes you have made with the length and omitting the elastic ❤
Thank you Elaine! I am really happy with the changes I made and I think it makes it much more wearable for me.
Fabulous month for you. The denim dress is incredible! If you haven't tried this, sometimes hammering thick layers of denim flattens them for buttonholes. I hammer onto the bottom of a cast iron skillet, and it makes a big difference. Worth a try!
Thank you so much, I really love it! I will definitely try the hammer trick next time. Thanks for the tip!
I love your denim dress hack Amelia, it looks great. Could you use similar poppers to those on your Pogonip to fasten the cuffs on the dress instead of buttons? Your pogonip looks great too. Love the fabric choice and high neck. It looks super cosy ❤
Thank you! I could try poppers on the cuffs next time, thanks for the suggestion. ❤️
I love your dresses! The way you hacked your perfect denim dress from the jumpsuit pattern is marvelous. -Kelly
Thank you, Kelly!
I'm very impressed with your Pogonip Amelia. So far i've not been tempted by this pattern at all, but yours is lovely. The mods you have made, especially the bottom band has made such a pleasing difference. Congrats.
Thank you so much Amanda. I am glad you liked my version! It was a lot of fun to sew up and I am wearing it so much already!
Your Pogonip looks so cuddly and warm and it looks good on you.I really like your green mash up dress and it looks very much like the Jackie dress by Victoria patterns.lovely video.💐
Thank you so much. It really is so cosy and warm on the bike in the mornings! I will have to check out that dress pattern!
Love your dresses and the pogonip is gorgeous xx
Hi Amelia, you do sew some beautiful clothes, I love your Pogonip, I don’t like the original cuffs or waistband either but yours is just perfect it makes me want one. ❤❤
Thank you! I am glad you liked the alterations I made. It definitely makes it more wearable for me.
Thank you, you are a skilled sewist
The denim dress is a knock-out. The double zip hack is both hilarious and a practical solution.😂🦘🇦🇺
It did make me laugh when I realised I would have to put in another zip, but I thought better to just do it so i could get in and out!!
Awesome makes! All lovely ❤ pogonip looks very cosy 😊
Thanks so much 😊
Such great makes they are all beautiful 😊😊😊
Thank you so much Robyn!
love all the things you have made. But the denimdress is my favorit. Thank you for sharing xx
Thank you for watching! ❤️
Make another with cuffed short sleeve! 70’s
Beautiful makes, Amelia! Have you considered sewing the buttonholes in each layer of the cuff before it's constructed, or even cut out, as a work around? It would be a little challenging to do, but might do the trick. Basting the pieces before they're sewn might help, too.
Thank you so much Alecia - that is a really good idea. I might try that next time!
Your pogonip pullover in that gorgeous animal print fabric is so beautiful 😍 and I remember seeing that beautiful denim dress on insta! Gorgeous makes ❤
Thank you so much!
Amazing makes… as always 🥰 that pogonip looks like the cosiest thing!!!
It really is so cosy!
I've been looking forward to seeing how your denim dress came out 💙 The 70s pattern looks very cool!
Thank you!
Love the green dress that really does look cosy and the fluffy top with a built in lining is gorgeous on you 🥰
Thank you. The green dress is so cosy, as is the Pogonip - perfect for this time of year!
You should draft up those two merged patterns and sell them. Great designs! (The denim and green one)...very inspiring
Thank you Alison, that's very kind!
Love your Pogonip. I was put off by the cropped style and wondered what it would look like made a little longer. You’ve answered that question: it looks fabulous! I bet it feels warmer too!
It is such a cosy make, I'm loving it!
What beautiful makes, well worth the time you have taken
Thank you Robyn!
All great makes, I especially like the changes you made to the pogonip top. ❤
Thank you! I am really glad I made the changes as I think it will make it a lot more wearable for me.
Lovely makes 😊
Thank you!

Katherine is an excellent shopping buddy ❤
Thank you so much Sam and I am do glad my Pogonip review was helpful! Katherine is the best shopping buddy!
Amazing January makes. Your dress is beautiful and such a wonderful dress for the cooler months. I love your Pogonip 🤩 So so sew lovely to see you the other day, can’t wait to do it all over again xxxx
Thank you so much Katherine. It was just the loveliest morning - thank you so much! I cannot wait to get that Liberty fabric sewn up now.
My favorites were the denim dress and the fleece coat! I have not sewn in denim, but I definitely want to! Happy sewing 🧵. ~Nancy
Thank you! I was a bit nervous about sewing with denim, but it was fine!
All your makes are beautiful, the green fabric looks lovely on you
Thank you so much! It is such a cosy one to wear too.
Gorgeous makes as always
Thanks so much 😊

@@sewamelia let me know if you try it and if it works 😉

Thank you! I have done hand sewn buttonholes on jersey before as my machine didn't like it - but I have used tear away interfacing and its fab!
I love that navy Liberty fabric. I was lucky enough to get some in Japan last year. I can't wait to see what you make from it. I'm too scared to cut into mine 😅

Oh, I have been to the last fabric store you mentioned, but I can’t remember how to spell it. It filled up my suitcase on my last trip to London!
Ah yes - I could have bought so much there! It is called Shaukat Fabrics.

Thank you so much Melissa!
Love your makes...I am making the Peony dress and the Nova coat.. I'm in Canada and Spring will be here soon
Oh both those patterns are gorgeous! I hope you enjoy sewing them up.
Beautiful makes Amelia, thank you for sharing. I have the Pogonip pattern but have not yet made it. My overlocker has only just come back after requiring new blades and presser foot.
Thank you Mary. I hope you enjoy having your overlocker back. I think mine needs new blades after working through all that fleece fabric!
