Dear Nicole, you have been on my mind lately. I hope you’re well. You’re podcast was an inspiration to me and really helped get me on my way with my own podcast. Please don’t feel you have to comment back I just wanted you to know you’ve been on my mind and hope you’re safe from the wildfires. I live on an island off the southern coast of RI and we are always aware of your weather. Stay safe and I hope your knitting and spinning are bringing you joy. Diane
Whenever I find myself not enjoying a project so much I will put it aside not too far away and knit up a pair of socks to sort of cleanse the stagnation sort to speak, yes we have loads of socks. Love all of your projects, especially the mending of your linen pieces.
Just LOVE you and your Channel, So Inspiring! 🌺 Gorgeous lichen colored cardi. Please come back and make more inspiring vids 🍁Thank you for sharing all the lovely yarns on your trip. 🧶
I'm so pleased to hear your "confession" of starting projects and undoing them when you're not happy with it. We seem to think that accomplished knitters cast on and never have to frog and never feel dissatisfied with a project. I've recently had a knitting friend telling me the same. Her successes come with a LOT of fogging. It's good to remind ourselves to be kinder to ourselves when we don't like a project or our own work and simply redo it or find something that does work for us.
Thank you for another gorgeous episode Nicole. Hope you are fully better soon. Your ‘uneven’ weaving made me laugh out loud - it’s gorgeous! Like everything you make.
It is always a treat for me to sit back with a cup of coffee and enjoy your podcast, Nicole! I am sorry that you were ill this summer, but share with you how soothing knitting is during difficult times. ❤️
Dear Nicole, hope this find you well and that you’re enjoying whatever your making life is being into this new year for you. It has been a while since we’ve seen your lovely work. No pressure though as we all are experiencing how very quickly time is passing as we venture out into the world again and re-establish routines and commitments. Just wanted you to know you are missed and thought of fondly ❤❤
good morning Nicole. I am an old lady from an European Country with lots of sheep. I stumbled upon your channel and like it very much! All those tones and skeins of yarn spoke to me. I was blown away with the beautiful French you started with and was curious where you lived. Canada is a country I would like to go although the long distance makes it unlikely, I am almost to old and have several health problems which restricts me from travelling. Love the beautiful scene with the dog in the last scenes. Thanks for this peaceful start of my day. I think yours will start at least 5 or 6 hours after ours maybe even more. Have a good monday. By the way I know 6 languages; but the poetic French ❤❤❤ and the mix of English and French beautiful spoken is music to my ears. And that is in my case special because I have hearing problems since my youth. Health is so important, recuperate and take it slowly. There are no short cuts in getting better after a nasty virus like Covid19 whichever variant you had, give your body time to heal properly. A big virtual hug and warm greetings from Marian from Fryslân in the North of Europe
It was so lovely to see your podcast, I am happy you are on the mend from covid. As always your knitting is an inspiration to this very newbie knitter. I look forward to your next podcast. Best regards to you.
So happy you are feeling well again… not quite 100%, but getting there😊 Your knits are so lovely! I love the earthly colors too; mostly coastal water colors and then our land and plant colors. Thank you for including us in a field trip to the festival🥰I loved seeing the fibers and the pottery! Lastly, I love how you mended your garments and the book reviews are very appreciated. To good health… cheers! Cheryl
Thank you for introducing the Twist festival and the Canadian fibers. I am returning to knitting after many years and am on the lookout for more local offerings. Since I am based in Montreal, this festival will be on my list for next summer. Until then, I can check out the shops online.
Hello Nicole, so happy to see you here. I had Covid and chronic illness too, and hard times to recover. I sincerely hope you will be fine along the days and months. Lovely footage from the festival ! Every year my husband come with me at a festival in Lyon, because I am too tired too drive... and It's a so lovely moment. We have so gentle husbands 🧡! Thank you for this good moment knitting with you !
Hello Nicole. I enjoyed this episode. All your handiwork is beautiful but your woven shawl is especially lovely. Looking forward to your next video. I had originally started following you last advent time. Loved all your special touches. 🌻 Lorrie
It was so lovely to see you had put up a new video when I woke this morning. Your work is so inspiring and it is your gentleness I am drawn to. I enjoyed the books and the mending as much as the knitting and yarn content. Your friend’s little 🐕. Continue to get well. 🧡
So sorry to ear you had such a bad case of Covid. Wish you a full recovery real soon. Your woven scarf looks very good on you, it highlights your eyes so well. Thanks for showing a bit of Twist festival. Looking forward to see how your spinning will turn this nice fiber into yarn. Have a good week.
@@dianemh1779 I agree with you regarding her podcasts. I stumbled on FiberTrek podcast - Nicole's friend and she mentioned her and I knew she was okay...whew.🌻
It was interesting to hear you talk about sewing garments by hand as it reminded me of how I hand stitched my wedding dress. It was a simple silk dress but every stitch held hope, happiness, excitement , love and of course a fair amount of trepidation! I was only 21yrs old and I am still married to the same handsome man!
Good morning Nicole and thank you for another lovely gently episode. I really enjoyed hearing and seeing the cottage of the Twist festival. Rhinebeck was very crowded so you made a good decision to pass this year. It was my first time and even though I enjoyed it I was unable to access most of the vendors due to crowds. I plan to mention you and your channel in my next episode of The Island Lamb. Diane
Good to hear you are recovering but sad to hear you and your husband experienced Covid. You look wonderful though and no one would guess how sick you have been. Thank you for your lovely pod cast. I always feel relaxed and refreshed after spending time with you! Continue to heal and be kind to yourself. I know the pain of loosing one as dear as Marcel, I have hoped you would open your heart and home to another dog when the time was right.
Yes, we cannot wait to welcome another retired racer to our home. If we had more room, I'd love to have "sighthounds galore" here too, but for now, one will have to do ;)
I loved your finished weaving, I think the more rustic the better so it definitely looks perfect to me. that's the best part about hand-crafted products.
So good to see you again Nicole and sorry to hear you have been unwell with Covid. Have waited for the right time to catch up with you, so out in my summer house and curled up on the sofa with a coffee enjoying seeing all your beautiful makes and woolly purchases….bliss! Best wishes to you from North Wales.
So, so glad you are feeling better. We miss you on your podcasts, you inspire me so much. I think I have to make the sweater Wheatsheaves, that you made and I must say looks amazing on you. I didn't attend Twist, even though I thought I would. The entry fee was too high for hubby and myself, and it made it not inclusive to those of us on a tight budget. It is a longer drive from Ottawa, so with those two things I was not able to attend, but I loved your purchases. Having, shopping envy. LOL
Nicole, it is so wonderful to see you again. You look just great! I hope that good heath will stay with you. You knitting is always so amazing and inspiring. The mug by Atelier Fika made me smile, nice it is, and the name 'Fika' is a Swedish word for a coffee break. All the best, Inger
È un piacere rivederti Nicole!! Ti scrivo dall'Italia, ti apprezzo molto!!! Vedrei bene il tuo tessuto a mano anche come runner su un bel tavolo di legno, da parte a parte, come una bella tovaglietta da colazione o tè per due...
Nicole, thank you so much for a really lovely podcast - your yarn choices are really beautiful, I love all the muted tones and rustic textures. Looking forward to seeing what the yarn becomes.....
So lovely to see you again, you just take all the stress of the day away. I love the inspiration you leave and I now have a few things I want to knit with my handspun ❤️
I’m so happy to see your interesting heel on your socks. It’s a lovely finish. I am a hand quitter and it’s fun to see all the visible mending and yours are especially nice. Your two sweaters are amazing….so glad you’re feeling better.
Always so lovely to spend some time catching up with you and your beautiful projects Nicole 🥰 Thank-you for all the gorgeous yarn recommendations and I hope you're back to 100% soon. Happy Making 🤗💕
It's lovely to catch up with you again. So sorry to hear you had COVID I hope you're on the mend. And sorry to hear you lost Marcel. I lost my dog in June and it's weird getting used to the space that they leave behind. Thank you for sharing all your lovely projects with us!
Hello Nicole - I hope you are feeling lots better with each passing day ! As always an inspirational podcast - I think I may have some similar aesthetics with your sense of colour and yarns - and find your work and the patterns you choose quite beautiful. I really appreciate your podcasts and look forward to them. Best wishes from Western Australia.
Such a joy to spend some time with you, the yarns that you purchased are so delicious! You look absolutely stunning in that rich green 🌱 so many delightful projects, I loved the brioche cardigan. I find myself drawn to the natural cream colours of the sheep. So much love to you, stay well and cosy x
So lovely to see you again, Nicole, your podcast is so beautiful. I'm sorry you have been unwell, but glad that you are better and I wish you good health! Your projects are all gorgeous; I particularly like both cardigans you made - they suit you so well. And your mending work is inspiring! I'd love to give it a try, too. Thank you for your company and all the inspiration!
Sorry to hear you were so unwell Nicole, but great to see you’re feeling better. I love your woven piece, the colours are so perfect together. The brioche cardigan is so beautiful! Its been wonderful to spend time with you again, happy knitting!
How lovely to catch up with you Nicole! I can hear the lingering symptoms in your voice but I am glad to know you are on the mend. Sending healing thoughts your way. Your woven wrap is absolutely stunning and looks so pretty on you. Your mends are so suitable for the items and there is something so soothing about hand sewing and mending.
Thank you Nicole, it seems Covid is very dynamic and can affect different people in different ways. I’m sorry your health i# taking time to settle back to a good state. I wish you much better health and strength. All of your making is lovely and suits you so well. Beautiful knit, sewing, film work. A pleasure to watch.
I am so happy to see you after such a long time Nicole. I love your podcast and hope to see you more often now. I wish you health and happiness and look forward to a new dog for your home. I send you best wishes from Germany, Eva
Oh Nicole! So so good to see you! I cannot wait to see how your Sanik shawl knits up - mine is one of my favorite-ever projects. I hope you have a wonderful start to your autumn!
Nicole, thank you for this delightful and entertaining visit with you and your projects. I’m glad you’re feeling better. Like you, I had a pretty bad case of Covid, and while I never thought I might die, there were some days when I almost wanted to! I have just received my first-ever batch of Nutiden yarn, and I’m looking forward to using it. I love your work with it. Would you consider a short video tutorial showing us how you knit with this fascinating, beautiful yarn? Stay well and enjoy the rest of the summer.
I've seen some really great videos about using Nutiden and other unspun yarns. Here are several that to mind (though maybe I'll do one too at some point) : th-cam.com/video/Ajbq7QvkdTM/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/CCvdmvG7RTM/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/CLcECP95I4s/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful, beautiful weaving - I just love what you made. Please don't put off buying a loom - even it's a small one - it's needed. I also loved to see the sewing by hand repairs you made to your clothing. I am grateful for the book recommendation- thank you. Your recommendation to use Japanese Fabrics is an excellent idea. Just to share a note - when I lived in Mountain View, California I used to enjoy a Sushi Restaurant - Homma's Brown Rice Sushi. When I went there to buy Sushi I fell in love with bookmarks that Homma's (the owner) children were making - using Japanese Paper and a laminating machine. So beautiful. And one more share - when I was very young my parents started to attend a very special Japanese Spiritual Group - The Johrei Temple. The Group was known as The Church of World Messianity - based upon channeling the light of God which is known as Johrei. We attended many years - and my parents and brothers and I were members. I grew up with Johrei channeled to me - if I was hurting or didn't feel well my parents gave me Johrei and I always felt better. I learned how to sing in Japanese - and they sang a prayer called The Amatsu Norito - The Payer of Heaven. To learn more about Johrei you can visit their web site: www.johrei.org/ I would be happy to answer any questions also. I love the Japanese Culture and will definitely be looking into buying some Japanese Fabric and Paper. Thank you so much for The Gentle Knitter blog. You are so appreciated and loved. With Love and Knindness, Lori 🙂💗🐦
So glad you are feeling better, and great to see you again Nicole! You have been missed! Your visible mending looks so pretty, and also love your recent knits! Looking forward to when you are able to bring another dog into your life!
Glad you are on the mend. I love your mending projects. Just beautiful! Well done on your weaving. It is gorgeous. I should just say thank you for sharing all your projects. Very nice💕
Absolutely stunning ♥️ your wheatsheaves cardigan took my breath away and I’m inspired to make one for my mother. Glad you’re feeling better, and can’t wait to see what you make with your new acquisitions 🌞🌻✨
Glad to see you again Nicole! Covid is not fun, (I know), but you seem well on the road to a full recovery. 😍 So many beautiful shawls in progress, and the yarns are really calling out to me! 😄 I think I'll attend the Twist Yarn Festival next year. Take care, stay well.
So happy to see another podcast. I’m heading to Ottawa on Sunday to visit my son. Thanks for sharing the twist fibre festival I was hoping to attend but plans changed. Hopefully you will start to feel better very soon. Happy Knitting
So lovely seeing your kind face and hearing your voice again :-). Hope you keep getting better. So sorry to hear you have not been feeling well. Thank you for taking the time to make another podcast episode for us.
So good to see you again Nicole..sorry you are still not yet fully recovered from COVID..hoping you spring back to good health soon. This was a true delight seeing all your makes, listening to your relaxing voice and a visit to your local show.. the displays of yarn were amazing . .everything looked so tempting, how could you resist! Take care of yourself dear one x
So happy you are feeling better now…take care! I really enjoyed this video…you have a very calming voice. All your projects are gorgeous…love the colors you use!
Loved the mending of your japanese dress🤎, i'm going to look into different ways of mending, i got a pile of clothes that needs it. What a lovely dog you looked after, looked just like our late beloved Nesti. Those expressive ears.
Blessing you with a full recovery. Good luck with the adoption. Furbies are the best companions. I have three mini doxies and they are all different ages and personalities. Enjoyed your relaxing vlog.
I enjoyed your talk about visible mending. Brought back a memory - my grandmother was ahead of her time in the late 1970’s - I put a hole in the knee of a pair of pants and instead of just mending them as requested, she decided to turn the patch into a bunch of balloons that travelled up the pant leg. My mom forced me to wear them even though it was decidedly not cool for grade 3 me.
Haha, my childhood is replete with this kind of story. My mom made pretty much all our clothes and I hated it. I so desperately wanted clothes from the Sears catalog, lol!!! How times have changed!
Loved seeing a new episode and all your lovely makes. Both cardigans are now on my want to knit list. I’ve become better at being ruthless, as you say, when a project just isn’t working for me . Whether it’s the yarn and project combo or whatever I’ll frog it . Wishing you all the healthy days ahead. Take care and having a lovely fall.
Great catch up,,noelle,,,,,So sorry u got so sick!!!not Nice for UR holidays either,,,Hope to get east soon,,,, Love all UR purchases in quebec,,,, Sweaters!!!! Elaine ⛱🏡🏘
I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy your podcasts! So good to see one again this morning. Glad you're on the mend and I hope you continue to recover. I'm always so inspired by the projects you share. And your music and photography is so beautiful - I always feel peaceful and restored after watching an episode. Many, many thanks.
As usual your work is inspirational, your videos are a special treat and always welcome. Thanks for the sewing book suggestions, I’ve been thinking about this quite a lot. Twist looked amazing. I’m trying to decide about Rhinebeck. I had Covid before the vaccines and was sick for two months...do NOT want it again. That little dog was a doll. He had the cutest ears. We lost both of ours just a year ago and I miss them so much. Happy knitting and stay safe.
I'm so sorry Cheryl to hear you lost two pups in such a short time. They do take a piece of our hearts with them. But despite the sadness, it's still so worth it! xo
So lovely to see you! I love seeing your projects. I find new designers and yarn producers every timer. Very inspirational. I'm glad that you are on the mend and wish you a healthy fall and winter❤
Nicole, I hope you recover fully and regain your energy. My husband loves his work jeans and the visible mending I do to keep them working for him. It’s a gift to our world to use things, mend them and love them.
So delightful to hear about and see your fibre journey. Sorry you were unwell. This has been such a difficult time. I am looking forward to knit city Vancouver (masked) in a few weeks
Your podcast made my day! I decided to simply sit, knit and enjoy! I thought you must have a very sweet husband to convince you to go to the yarn festival together. And me and my friends are big fans of the woollentwine yarn so it's so nice to see you are knitting with it as well and enjoying her colours!
Lovely to see beautiful you and your beautiful home, knits, yarn…you always inspire me to knit, and to declutter! I especially loved seeing the yarns from Twist Festival, I live in Maine and it’s not out of the question that I might one day attend that festival! Glad you are feeling better, and that is SO exciting to be looking forward to getting a new furry family member! Yay!
My life turned upside down 2014 when i got Hashimoto 😢 never the same again. I really hope you will feel better soon and find balance with your new situation ❤️
A wonderful surprise to find you had uploaded a podcast today Nicole. I watched with my coffee and knitting. A little oasis in what promises to be a hectic day. Thank you 🙂
So glad to see you back. I'm so sorry to hear you're under the weather but thanks for all these lovely things. I can't wait to hear more about your new wheel and what you spin up!
I would like to share how much your podcast has meant to me. I look forward to watching when they come out. I have gone back and started watching from the beginning! Thank you for taking the time to do these.
I just happened on your channel and I truly enjoyed watching all that you have done and I don't know how to knit. Lol I can crochet, quilt, and cross stitch. I just enjoyed watching your video. I look forward to more of your videos. 😁
So happy to see your beautiful face. I learn so much from you and love your color palette. Everything is so wearable and beautiful. Thanks Nicole. Happy autumn to you 🌻🍁 also, I can’t wait to see your newest addition when your ready to adopt 💕
Thanks, Nicole for another lovely episode. Beautiful knits and yarns as always. Sorry that you had a hard time with covid but glad you are feeling better.
Oh the mending was beautiful, I have an old denim shirt just crying out to be mended in this way! I really enjoyed this video and seeing all your FOs - thankyou Nicole. ❤️
I always enjoy watching your thoughtful podcast and seeing what you are creating and what is inspiring you. Glad you got to go to a small yarn festival and found some treats.
Missing your calming videos to me. Horay if you feel better and see your new finished project ! Loving that yarn show in that part of the globe with other producers that we don’ t see in Europe. Thanks for sharing. Warm greetings from Madrid, in Spain.
Missed you lovely Nicole ! a wonderful podcast and so good to know that you are recovering now ! You have encouraged me to start afresh as I was stuck not knowing whether to rip out my latest WIP! ....I have ....and now am inspired to begin something new. Thank you Ali from Australia
So happy you are back. Love your podcast. Wanted my own dog for a long time but thought I’d wait until I retire. Then in February I heard about Elmer who needed a new home and on March 1st I brought him home. He’s a lovely 3 year old white Spanish Waterdog. I call him my little lamb and fur therapy
It was so lovely to hear from you today. I'm so sorry you have been unwell. Thank you for sharing your work with us. It is absolutely beautiful and inspiring.
I just made a “Picnic on the Path” hap with Brooklyn Tweed Loft in the color “Hayloft”. I love the color you chose for yours! It was such a fun knit. I’m thinking of making a scrappy version with my leftover non superwash yarn scraps.

Thank you for this lovely episode, Nicole! I so much enjoyed seeing what you've been working on, and get a glimpse of some beautiful yarns.
To learn more about Johrei you can visit their web site:
www.johrei.org/
I would be happy to answer any questions also.

So many beautiful shawls in progress, and the yarns are really calling out to me!

Loved the mending of your japanese dress🤎, i'm going to look into different ways of mending, i got a pile of clothes that needs it.
What a lovely dog you looked after, looked just like our late beloved Nesti. Those expressive ears.
So lovely to see you and all your beautiful knits and fiber. And wonderful to see that you now have another furry companion!
I was so happy to see a new podcast from you and enjoyed it very much. I am glad you are feeling better.
Coughing at night is just the worst. Time to break out the most lovely of teas and honey and the humidifier. I hope you feel well quite soon.
Lovely informative episode, really enjoyed it. Beautiful yarns and fibre. Glad to hear you're on the mend after COVID.
Blessing you with a full recovery. Good luck with the adoption. Furbies are the best companions. I have three mini doxies and they are all different ages and personalities. Enjoyed your relaxing vlog.
I hope you are having a nice holiday season, and I wish you a very happy new year filled with joy, laughter, much kindness, and good fortune. ❄️🌲☃️🌸
Thank you for this new episode !
I understand the meditation state of knitting brioche ! This is exactly how I feel while knitting brioche !
So glad you made it through Covid! I’ve been missing your podcast so have gone back and rewatched a few. Love your mending. Happy fall!

Hearing about the fires up there in your area and i thought of you. I hope all is well and im sorry for all these wildfires going on in your country😢
But despite the sadness, it's still so worth it! xo
@@thegentleknitter Absolutrly worth it.
Yes, I'm lucky to have a VERY sweet husband ;)
Thank you 🙂

It is so wonderful to see you back. I am happy that you are doing better. I have missed your gentle, calming voice and manner.
Missing your calming videos to me. Horay if you feel better and see your new finished project ! Loving that yarn show in that part of the globe with other producers that we don’ t see in Europe. Thanks for sharing. Warm greetings from Madrid, in Spain.

Always so lovely to visit with you Nicole, thank you for sharing.
Aww, give Elmer a cuddle for me :)
It was so lovely to hear from you today. I'm so sorry you have been unwell. Thank you for sharing your work with us. It is absolutely beautiful and inspiring.
So lovely to see you again and your stunning knitting! Lots of love!
So sorry you’ve had sickness over the summer. I have missed seeing you and very much enjoyed this visit.
I'm sorry to hear you've had covid for a prolonged period. Hopefully you will feel much better soon and recover 100%...
Good to see you again. I enjoyed seeing you wearing all your beautiful knits over the Vlogmas episodes. Thank you Nicole.
I just made a “Picnic on the Path” hap with Brooklyn Tweed Loft in the color “Hayloft”. I love the color you chose for yours! It was such a fun knit. I’m thinking of making a scrappy version with my leftover non superwash yarn scraps.
