To me this is the beginning of my Pocket Camp play through, not the ending.
I’m sad it is ending, but at least they are creating an offline app to transfer all my saved data. I agree with your assessment, I would add that a new crossing will be on the switch 2 and it will have the social aspect and micro transactions. All the social activities that exist in this mobile game, added on top of a fully complete version for switch 2. Each month we’ll see new releases and activities to do with friends etc.
I literally feel devastated. I've invested so much time and money in this game, and it helped me deal with problems in my life. I will miss the community aspect of the game, sharing designs and helping each other.
I think you are missing the main purpous of the Nintendo apps.
They were not mainly put there to make money (that was more of a bonus) but to converse mobile players to the Switch. So it was basically meant as an ad. Remember, how Nintendo told them to tone down the MTX, to not make them look bad.
Also, all the games you listed with a mobile and Switch version have one thing in common. It is Pokémon, which seems to be a franchise Nintendo slowly loses or gives up control over.

i feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest 😭 i downloaded pocket camp the day it launched, i played it all through college and my first crappy jobs post-college. it's quite literally gotten me through so many tough times. 😭😭 nintendo whyyyy

I do NOT want microtransactions in my console game. Nintendo Online is bad enough imo. DLCs are fine as long as there's enough new content (actual gameplay, not just new items)
Well that sucks for people who are playing Pocket Camp. I never could get into it myself and was always jealous about the amount of new content it got vs. what ACNH got. 🐞

My random friends that I know nothing about, & have nothing to do with, but just be nice to and give gifts?? I love them 😭 I hope they let me keep those friends in some way. Also I heard fortune cookies aren’t a thing in the other games and that part is so fun to me. And if they take the whole game away from mobile users I’ll be livid.

I was already having a bad day, then this morning I opened pocket camp to find this 😭
While it’s true that pocket camp and new horizons are two completely separate teams, I do think this bodes well for the next console game. This will be the first time in seven years that there is no ACTIVE animal crossing game available in any form. The franchise makes too much money for Nintendo to reasonably leave it stagnant for too long. They’re probably gonna want some active, ongoing way to interact with the franchise and continue bringing in new players….at least I’m hoping 🤞
I honestly loved Pocket Camp. It was my introduction to the series and gave me my love for villagers like Goldie, Fauna, and Punchy. I hope some of its items and features make it into console versions of AC.
I'm really sad about the ending of PocketCamp.. like for real. I love PocketCamp, it was my Only Mobile Game i ever played. Been going (and still am) through so much, and it kept me company and distracted me.. it was special for me.
And I loved looking forward to next Months for new Items, I had so much fun, especially around Autumn/Halloween.
I really will miss it, very much... 😢💔
Pocket Camp is made by a different team to the one that worked on New Horizons. I don't think this is cool at all especially for people who have paid for items with real money and had a monthly subscription.
The same thing happened to Miitomo, but they never released a paid version of that it just died. I'm glad Pocket Camp isn't getting the same treatment. I'm guessing Mario run will be next

The worst news ever. I played religiously every day. I love it. Collecting items and the challenges they have. I hope they bring elements of pocket camp to the new AC game. Watching the villagers interact with the items is the best part of pocket camp. Super sad about this news. 😢
Not only have I been playing this almost everyday for 7 years but I have spent SO MUCH MONEY ON THIS GAME over the course of those 7 years and now it’s like it was for nothing???
You’ll be able to transfer your save data so hopefully that means you’ll be able to keep at least most of that stuff
I was always hoping that they would use the Pocket Camp engine to make a mobile version of New Leaf since most of the assets in the game as far as furniture and characters go are already there

I'm sad and a bit concerned about the price of the paid version. If its not too pricey and, I'm able to bring over everything (except for leaf tickets) i wonder if Fortune cookies will be gone along with those items or, will still be in the game but, you have to buy them a different way.
Yea, I’m also wondering what gameplay will look like. If we’re paying money for another app to transfer our save data to, what else is there to do? Will they recycle old garden and fishing events? Or will it literally be just a time capsule for all the old items we’ve collected over the years but nothing else to actually do? We won’t be able to access any online features so no leaf tickets, no gifts, no watering other people’s plants, etc…
That's what i fear. About the emptiness. Nothing to do, only you and no New Things, No interacting nothing. Just the Void..

I have a theory: app stores like Google Play don't allow you to charge $ for download when the app was previously free. So if Nintendo wanted to move away from the micro-transaction model, they'd have to launch a new, separate app. The question is: why switch away from a micro-transaction model that was making them money? Legal reasons?
It wasn’t making them enough money and it was acctuly costing them money to keep the servers up and release updates, that might answer some questions for you

@@josiebobos the second day after hearing the news. I’m still sad but I am starting to feel better. Not all is lost. This is still a great mobile game that will live on in the new app. I will miss all the social interaction with friends and all the monthly new content. But we’ll have 7 years worth of content, so that’s not too bad. I can’t show off my new clothing anymore lol. 🥺

i played the game since day 1 but stopped years ago. I redownloaded the game a month ago and the microtransaction are crazy! you have to pay a ton to get the good stuff. I get people who spend THOUSANDS (yes thousands) of dollars are upset but I'm looking forward to this new game. though i am intrigue why they are really stopping this game if is making them that much money. I just hope this game wont be a distraction to not give us the next animal crossing on the switch.

Look at this way, this would be the last transaction you would have to make to own the game and since your save data can be transferred to the new version, not all is lost.
I loved Pocket Camp but it was so expensive to play. Once ACNH came out, I stopped playing PC. I did miss items that I don’t think I’ve ever seen in ACNH.

I hope all items can transfer like terrain, handhelds, clothing. I was hoping it’s free to play but I doubt it will be. Sadly I won’t be able to pay for it.
I'm just wondering why they won't add online feature to the new game. Ever since Animal Crossing Wild World, they have been applying online and I honestly think we cannot do without it anymore, it bring people together and that's a good thing. They must really step up to the occasion and bring a game that players will not get sick of after a while. We will see, I'm excited!
I think saying internet won’t be required to play (aside from downloading it) is not the same as saying there’ll be no online feature. There should still be an online aspect but it might not be as central to the gameplay

Well, being a paid app means it still makes money. Sure, it won't be as crazy as microtransactions, but it's still money. Considering Pocket Camp essentially has loot boxes, and loot boxes are gambling, I think this is a very good move for a game that really should be for everybody of any age. I really don't like the shady monetization that has been the mainstay of mobile games for so long, so to me this is really good news. I plan on getting the new game, as Animal Crossing is a perfect game for cell phones where you're only hopping in and out occasionally.
I feel like I never know what I’m supposed to be doing in Pocket Camp I MIGHT pay for a Switch version, but I’m not running to get it.

I also think the talk of Pocket Camp ending is a bit too dramatic - it's not. Nintendo themselves says they're making a new one without the microtransactions, and you can transfer your save. It's really more of a change of monetization model than an actual end to the game. I think that it's a better monetization model too. Just make sure you'r ready to move over. Not a big deal.

I don't think Nintendo is about to put microtransactions or a live service model onto the Switch 2. That would be hated by pretty much everybody, and Nintendo knows that. People on cell phones are kinda used to it - but people on the Switch aren't. If Nintendo wanted to push into microtransactions, they had plenty of opportunities. It didn't happen, and there's no reason for them to start now as opposed to earlier.

Why should I have to pay for the new version when I’ve already payed subscriptions to the game for this long
You know, I was thinking the same thing, but then I realized, going this route, would actually save money. Since your save data can be transferred over, you'd only have to pay once more to own it rather than pay a monthly subscription and/or for micro transactions. So say for instance if the paid version is $10, and you're one of the people who pays for all 3 subscriptions and the occasional microtransaction, $10 is nothing compared to what you would continue to pay monthly. Even if they charged $30 for this new version, you'd still be saving money.
The other option would be not to spend the money on the paid version and let the money you spent on subscriptions and micro transactions go to waste.
I now think that the new console will be a cell phone that can dock to the TV, like the switch. Like Nokias Ngage, but better.

I would love for Pocket Camp to be on the Switch! I'd love to play but it takes up so much space on my phone and then there's the problem of all my work apps being on my phone too and no one needs that blowing up when you're playing.
Nintendo, I hope you transfer the Pocket Camp items into New Horizons or the next Animal Crossing game because I loved Pocket Camp so much, yet you have the audacity to snap it away from existence. I beg you, Nintendo. Please do it.
This comment goes to all those who do not want the game to close, I suggest that everyone send a complaint to Nintendo in the suggestions section in the game, where you express your disagreement. It is not the first time that a united and strong community saves a video game from being closed, they do not lose anything by trying, the worst thing is to do nothing! FFXIV was going to be closed and its community prevented that from happening and to this day the game is still standing. You can all achieve the same!

What if they have a way to make people be able to mesh the 2 new game types to play camp and new animal crossing game together and to do that, they had to take down the older models of games so they can reprogram a mesh version and also I think you are right about the pay part of it. If not to mesh them, what if it's for trading perposes when you trade items with each other, you can trade your pocket camp lamp with their full game couch, instead of a mesh game.
Maybe they should just provide us with a complete and full game. So many nice items in pocket that should be on console.

I’ve always wondered if one of the reasons why Nintendo decided to ditch all the classic furniture lines in New Horizons (for the first time since the game started) was due to them handing all that IP over to the mobile developers, which is a separate company (contracted by Nintendo).
Pocket Camp is basically a mobile AC game using New Leaf’s art design and aesthetics but in HD. All or most of the amazing items that Pocket Camp added (by events and fortune cookies) came after it was initially released.
With Pocket Camp effectively going away, I hope this means that with the next version of Animal Crossing, which will probably look much like New Horizons visually in terms of art style, they will incorporate all the missing classic furniture lines AND all of the amazing (and interactive) items from Pocket Camp.

(I spent about 5 hours a day a few years ago so I’ve been grinding on this game)

So... In conclusion, Pocket Camp isn't really done. We're just getting a new game. Now I can breathe again. I was sad. I'm Lv. 397. I touch this game everyday and honestly I haven't even invested more than $20.00 on it, but I don't mind as long as it's much better and just as fun.

@novelist99 You know, I bought an Oled when Scarlet & Violet came out and I transferred everything over, but I forgot about that nonsense of transferring New Horizons and my entire saved file disappeared. That's the only thing I criticize about AC. I honestly stopped playing it anyways. I play more Pocket Camp and Pokémon obviously.

Hope the new offline version of Pocket Camp will work on my tablet, it's a bit old. The current Pocket Camp stop being supported on my tablet a few years ago, when they stop supporting 32bit processor. I might get a new one in a few years.
Yeah that's my question, why have both PC and a new version of AC? Now you mention about micro transactions coming to AC, but have we not been aching for a new dlc for the existing ACNH, many of us saying we'd pay anything for some new content? Well here ya go! I'm thinking not so much micro transactions but really more DLC's, maybe several over the lifetime of an expansion. Nintendo can easily afford to make a move like this especially when a DLC comes at the cost of $50 or more - I mean here's a number for ya - to date ACNH has sold 46M copies! I'm also speculating a merger of the new AC coming and PC that would continue the indoor/outdoor builds PC style if that make sense...idk!! I got this notice and my heart sank a bit, I love PC but ACNH is my heart and soul where this franchise is concerned and will be sad to see PC go but I'm am SOOO excited for the future!! Depending on how the new game is, I may actually buy it! I couldn’t get into the game honestly because of all the micro transactions so interested to see how the new game will be. This does feel SO random though. I feel bad for people who play the game currently :(

The current version of Pocket Camp as we know it is ending, it will no longer exist. They’re developing a new version to transfer your existing save data over.
I don't see the point in playing it offline without new events and new cute items. I am so bummed. What a waste of my time and money. I cancelled my subscription this morning and removed the app. Been playing since the start.
My first thought at the beginning of the video was that Pocket Camp will be integrated somehow into the next game, but also be its own thing. That would incentivize players of either game to purchase the other. What this would look like, I don’t know. Transferring items? Bonuses in either game for owning both? I may be way off base but that’s where my brain went. The presumed 2026 release of the next console game would be pretty far off from the next version of Pocket Camp, making my theory less likely.
There are already bonuses in New Horizons for owning Pocket Camp so something like that is definitely a possibility

Honestly as long as they keep adding content like they did with pocket camp I wouldn’t be that mad if they include micro transactions. I want what we had with New Leaf but with UPDATES.

Personally I am laughing at this news!
Bascially I was force to be kicked out when they had the massive update three years ago (the one where you can used your camera for AR photo with the villagers and removed the grid restriction on your home area) when they made it so it's no longer compactible with any devices that used 64bits! Granted I did upgrade to a new phone a month or two later but that's not the point!
That being said, I am kinda interested in this new paid version?
