I've linked to Nintendo's statement in the description and also my discord for any pocket camp players looking for a community to enjoy the last few months together. Im so sorry everyone, im so heartbroken 💖 I'll release more news and videos as things unfold
@@OttawaInHD I'm not sure yet! We have to wait for October for details. But I'm hoping they'll all be available throughout November and then also for bells when the new app is released 🤞
To be fair, a game can’t get new content indefinitely, and New Horizons is in a pretty decent state, I’d recommend restarting your island. If you really need to fill the void, you could play some of the older games, either via emulation or you could pick up a secondhand Wii or something, which at least where I live, is only around £30.
Ross Scott (aka Accursed Farms) is currently running an EU government petition to outlaw the practice of killing games like this. I'd recommend looking into it if you're an EU citizen, and I hope it comes to pass because it's always heartbreaking to see stories like these where a game with a thriving community that so many people worked hard to create just gets completely destroyed because the multi-billion dollar corporation behind it couldn't be bothered to give the players some way to keep enjoying it after they end support.
Some games are killed to make room for future games. My only example I can think of is Kingdom Hearts Union X was technically killed (because the game had cut scenes that are still visible) off to make room for Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link. No server has infinite data to always keep updating. Also if a game goes too long without updating, then people will get bored and more to another phone game.
@@spottedtimeThe argument isn't that corporations should be forced to host these games on their servers forever. It's that no game should ever be wiped from existence. Many older multiplayer games are still alive and active to this day because the devs implemented the ability for their players to host their own servers. Right now, you could go out and find a copy of the original Unreal Tournament-a game published in 1999-and punch in a community server IP to hop into a game. Epic Games have completely abandoned this title and you'd have to either find a secondhand copy or sail the high seas, but if you find a copy, you can still boot it up and play it just like you could when it was being supported. It used to be the standard for games to have an end of life plan like that. Also, your argument of "we need to destroy old games to make room for new ones" is honestly dystopian and I'm not sure if you realize it. Imagine if we burned rare old books in libraries to make room on the shelves for fresh publications. Imagine if we shredded the Mona Lisa because the museum walls only have a finite amount of space. Imagine if an automotive company repoed your car to melt down because they "needed more metal to make new cars", then made you pay full price for the new car that they made with your old car that you bought. I'd really recommend you watch Ross Scott's videos on the Stop Killing Games campaign. He even made a shorts version explaining his main goals if your attention span isn't there for the 30 minute manifesto.
They are giving a way to keep enjoying the game after ending service though? The one time purchase paid offline version of said game that even allows you to use your save data from the online version. The only difference being no online connectivity, but youll still be able to enjoy the game, crafting furniture, decorating and ofc befriending animals. And im sure that it will still have monthly events it will cycle through so you can collect the 7yrs worth of stuff theyve built up.
So many years and now it’s all ending, it is so sudden and so sad. I loved the social interaction of this game and all the beautiful content each month they release.
