    Just been doing this treatment this evening due to a spring outbreak of parasites. Have done PP before and this video was a great way to remind how to carry out a successful PP treatment

    Hi! Lovely pond and koi! I have been battling four different types of bad bacteria in my tank for months and after many attempts with gram negative antibiotics since I know two of the four bacteria’s are gram negative. So long story short I want to do PP on my 125 gallon of fancy goldfish so I don’t lose anymore and I’m still seeing new symptoms from the bacteria arise. How much would I do on a 125 gallon and for how long?

    hi mark did a pp treatment today added the correct amount after a 60 percent water change the water turned brown after 30 minutes so i added more pp to no avail the water would not maintain a purple colour even turned orange the first dose was 15 grams which finally ended up at 25 grams the pond is 11700 litres

    Hi Mark - Help! I followed your instructions and treated my pond once in March and once in May. The main Koi I have been concerned about had a small ulcer spot developing. One other fish had one as well. Now the red skin is growing fast and I cannot catch her - a Jumbo all white Koi. I have both PP and an antibiotic. I am wondering if at this point I should treat the whole pond with the antibiotic or the PP again. What do you think?

    Question, i heard you can treat plants with pp as a precaution. I dont have pp but i do have a couple other meds; dimilin, prazi and aqua meds terminate. Would any of those work?

      UV off and the directions are on the bottle or packet it's also a good idea to not be in a rush to switch uv back on so soon but keep the air going to replenish the oxygen levels

    I know pp kills the bb but i heard it doesnt take as long as a new start up for the bb to build back up, is this true? Or does it still take a LONG time for the bb to be back to normal?

      The best thing to do is scrape some slime of an infected fish and take it to your local fish shop. They might have a microscope and they will id the culprit.

    Hi Mark, if you had the option to do a complete water change after treating with PP would you? Is there any benefit to doing so? Just asking because I know I'll be pretty much starting from scratch with the filter so may as well have freshwater too? Or is this unnecessary? Thanks

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have lots of fish I would leave the old water as it hold lots of beneficial bacteria. Partial water change and throw in a pond bomb for added bacteria.

    Mark: My name is Dr Bill Dodson,DDS and I live in Monterey, Ca. I have had my 4000 gallon Koi pond since 1990 with a very large biological filter(20' x 3' wide x 6' deep). It is divided into 5 sections with biological media held 16" off the bottom of each section. The biological filter is well oxygenated with the pond having 4 separate oxygenating air stones. I have 8 large Koi that are thirty years old whereby no new Koi have ever been introduced.
    Here's my question...I just recently purchased 10 new Koi from Japan of which I have kept isolated in a separate 150 gallon tank with bio-filter and air stones. I was told that due to CEV(Koi Sleeping Disease), not to introduce until I can get my water temp up to 74-80 degrees F. My water temp is only 68 degree F and I doubt it will get much higher, even during our northern Calf summers. My friend has a Pool business and he said that I can get my pond temp up 10 degrees F by placing a special bubble wrap cover made for swimming pools. I can cut it to cover my pond dimensions and cut small openings in the thermo cover where your air stones come to the surface. Then I can salt, Proform C and Kursuri Fluke M on a 14 day regimen, but I have to have the temp up 10 degrees to be successful and not kill my original Koi. Can I put the thermo cover over my fish to increase the temp? Any contra-indications? I forgot to indicate that somehow in the past week my original Koi have become lethargic, scratching and solitude with very little movement! Somehow they got the virus from my new koi and I have them isolated! I'm fearing for my Koi that they will die! If I can get the pond temp up, I think I can save them! Very concerned...hoping that somebody out there will give me an answer! Bill Dodson

      @johnlysic6727 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      William Dodson - did you use the PP treatment? I have been using it as needed for several years and it has saved my Koi from parasites a couple times now. I let it run through the filters for about 4 hours and then toss in a couple pints of hydrogen peroxide to neutralize the PP and clear up the brown water back to crystal clear again.

      You could put a pond heater in (normally used to prevent freezing) That should provide enough heating to warm it up. I use a 250w floating unit.
