Really sorry to hear this, It's a terrible shame what has happened. mistakes can easily be made when we have to be our own VET's for the fish. a quick tip for measuring out very small quantities of medication is to use a 20p coin as a calibration test weight, it weighs exactly 5.0 grams.
Thank you for posting this!! Over the past few days I lost 27 of my babies I have been raising from eggs. I made some dumb mistakes with design and upkeep, the weather changed and I ignored signs because I was busy with the holidays. I got a fungal infection on one and in treating the pond, it killed all but two. I think I have one left and I felt so terrible I went searching for videos on how to improve everything and ensure this never happens again. Very few in my life can understand the bond I have with my koi, I hand fed these and played them music everyday, they were my loves and seeing your video helps me refocus on how to make improvments, take ownership and it helps me by knowing others out there go through the same thing. Thank you!!!
Back in 2018, my pond had filters exposed to the elements, uninsulated pipework all exposed to the elements as well. Well, 2018 was Beast from the East winter. Half the pond was covered in ice, but I was complacent and felt everything was going to be ok; the water's running, it'll be ok. In spite of all the advice online recommending lots of approaches to protect your pond in those extreme temperatures. Anyway, I got up one morning (pretty close to the end of the spell) and the pump was making a strange noise. The water had frozen in the pipework, the pump tried to keep pumping and a fitting failed. Water was then pumped out of the pond, dropping the water level down to about 18". With no water returning to the pond there wasn't enough water movement, so the whole surface of the pond froze. In fact the top 12" froze solid. Similar to now I had 2 large-ish carp, 5 rudd, one tench and some rudd fry. Both carp died, all the rudd died. The worse thing about it was that they were my son's fish, that he'd grown on in a tank. Anyway, once everything thawed, I netted out the dead fish. To my surprise, a bit like yourself with your survivors, 14 of the rudd fry survived (the current rudd I have now), and the tench survived too (I still have her too). LIke you I seriously considered filling it in. But the surviving fish made my mind up, and I set about rebuilding it, putting right the problems with exposed pipework and filtration. It would be no consolation for 2018-me, but I know now that my pond wouldn't be as good as it is now, without that disaster teaching me a lesson. It's the kind of mistake that happens once, and the kind of mistake that most pond keepers have made. For me, it was a reminder of the responbility I had/have for living creatures, it flipping hurt at the time, but as well as making the pond better, it made me a better pond-keeper, cos I dont want to go through that again. I know you will, cos I did, but don't beat yourself up too much, you didn't set out to harm your fish. I know as a pond keeper and a nurse, that mistakes are easily made, but from today, you'll be far less likely to ever make it again. We can all read and watch all the advice in the world, but experience is the best teacher. All the most experienced pondkeepers have gone through something horrible, have made mistakes - that's why they're experienced - it's not just through getting it right all the time.
Mate, thank you so so much for sharing your journey and I can learn from that mate. I will 100% think about this for tthe future and our mistakes do teach us a lot. Take care mate and thank you
Johnny, I only subscribed to you a couple of day's ago and genuinely find your video's a breath of fresh air. Please don't beat your self up so much, as you have payed such a great price already for such a simply/easy mistake. All the best mate!!
Don’t quit. All credit to you for letting us know. I am a new koi keeper and this has been a lesson for me. Don’t kick yourself too hard. You are also learning. I think you are very brave to air this. Don’t let anyone make you feel guilty, we all make mistakes. You are only human. keep going.
I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Such a brave and honest video for you to post. I truly hope that you get over such a major event without beating yourself up more than you already are. I wish I was nearer to give you a hug. Sorry once again fella.
Most koi keepers lose fish, sometimes our own fault and sometimes not. Whichever one it’s always heart wrenching. One of the things we all like about you Johnny is you bare your soul for the good and the bad. Clearly and understandably your very upset but thanks for sharing and we all feel your pain as mentioned we have all been there. Please keep filming and sharing and eventually you will get over it, we are all behind you mate 👍
Hi Graham, thank you so much mate and will do 100% Im just going to release another one on the subject then its back to happy Johnny. Thanks for the support pal

Hi Martyn thank you so much mate and feeling the love pal. We will go again, thanks for the support and your 100% right pal chin up and off we go again
Sorry to hear this Johnny, thanks for sharing this tough video. It's easy to say but everyone does make mistakes but the difference is you know where it went wrong and you will ensure it doesn't happen again. I've only subscribed recently so please don't give up. James.

So sorry to hear this mate, I really do feel for your loss. We need to learn from these things, so well done for posting the video when it's obviously so painful. Stick with it mate, you'll recover and get through this!
Sorry, did something similar three years ago, lost the entire pond. I was crushed but it made me learn a lot about the hobby. We learn from our mistakes.
im gutted for you jonnie.i lost a lot last year with a ph crash,i was devastated.replaced with quality fish rather than quantity.keep your chin up pal.your doing great.you are giving good knowledge & advice for beginners.
I feel for you. I lost half my pond due to a power outage from heavy rain. In the middle of the night I almost got up to check to see if the power went out but I fell back asleep. Woke up in the morning and half were dead. We are only human and didn’t do it on purpose. You will get over it. Takes time, and thanks for the message
Sorry to hear this mate. Clearly tough times for you but massive props to you for making the video and putting it out there to save others from going through the same. We all need guys like you to help us all learn so try not to beat yourself up for too long. Bigger and better next time mate. Keep your chin up and continue with the garden office plans and keep growing as a person and channel 👊🏽
Hi mate, thanks for the support and your 100% right pal chin up and off we go again. Starting the garden office at weekend by moving the filter out the way. Cheers mte
Sorry to hear about your situation, hard watching. Mistakes happen and I don't think there's a koi keeper that hasn't made a mistake or two. Stay strong 💪
I’ve just watched Jonny…. I enjoy your updates and new to the hobby myself I appreciate the journey… no one will punish themselves harder than the individual them self. The experts you talk about have earned the right by learning from mistakes and from others… keep moving forward the updates and this platform help us all learn 💪💪 you’re a big bloke with broad shoulders you’ll shake this off and move on 👍👍
Thank you so much Rob, I do have broad shoulders hahaha, 100% and I promise to have a video up this weekend with me smiling again. Im going to move these filters and get cracking. Thank you for the support ❤️
Well done for having the balls for making this video not a lot of people would but a lot of people will learn from this including me so sorry for your losses
Nothing will replace the fish you've lost, but find a bosting new fish that makes you smile every time you look in the pond, that will help lessen the blow. Don't restock, too quickly. Chin up, keep the videos going.
Keeping koi can be one of the most relaxing and enjoyable hobbies and also one of the most unforgiving and cruel hobbies, I have been keeping koi for nearly 20 years and lost a Doitsu Kohaku which was 70cm a few weeks ago and an amazing fish after a PP treatment, I have done this treatment more times than I care to remember with the same dose etc with no issues, I have recently upgraded my filter and put it down to that as there is far less organic load ie algae in the pond and this was the fish that I had found Tric on and it was just to much for him, I know the feeling mate it hits you were it really hurts, Temperature also is something to be aware of when treating with PP, If I had to do it again would I have treated the day after the hottest day on record probably not ! It’s happened to us all mate even though some don’t share the negative experiences, Keep going !
I’m watching this now and I can physically feel how anguished you were and I know the feeling. I killed my beautiful koi one year doing something someone advised me not to do and I did it anyway. It’s absolutely devastating to those of us who adore our koi and they are cherished pets so it hurts terribly when something like this happens.
Sorry to hear that mate, It can be a cruel hobby at times and extremely complicated and everyone has their own way of doing things. For some it works and for others not so. Thanks mate
We’re both so sorry this has happened to you. Try not to beat yourself up, it’s gutting but it was a tragic accident. Don’t let this put you off, take some time to get your head round it and then hit the reset button. Stay strong and we’re here for you. Amanda and Brett
So sorry to here this Johnny, I remember loosing a whole collection of Tropical fish when one long weekend we went away and My wife unplugged all the electrical sockets!! Lost 5 tanks worth. Doesn't help I know but it could have been worse and all your fish may have perished. Keep your chin up mate and carry on. I love your channel, it usually really cheers me up.
Shit the bed! Mate I done the same thing a few months back! Put 5 times the dose in but luckily they where ok! It happens mate brain fart it technical malfunction. But like a guy in the Sas I ones new always sed to me…… never give up always keep trying, when your cold wet and hungry, NEVER give UP
Who dares wins mate, you know this. 100% not giving up mate just hit me. a bit hard. You know the score pal, a serious and painful lesson learnt #nevergivein
I’ve watched you not quite but nearly from the start. I have loved your enthusiasm and willingness to learn and share. I do know from watching you how much joy your pond and fish have been giving you. So I appreciate you feel pretty shitty right now. I’m sat here feeling sick for you. This sort of thing happens though Johnny none of us are perfect fish keepers sometimes are we. Less of the I let you down self flogging from here on in and more of the sharing of the comeback. This time next year when your pond will be full of fish again you will have afforded yourself another 12 months of experience and I know you will be not talking about events like this. Top Bloke Top Channel and very well liked , Keep Smiling onwards and upwards Buddy
Hi Paul, thank for the amazing messahge mate your right in 12 months I will have grown more and be back to full. thanks for the support and your 100% right pal chin up and off we go again
So sorry to hear the bad news mate. It's very sad to lose 1 let alone 15. Try and keep your chin up and carry on. Don't go to hard on yourself. You haven't let anyone down mate
oh dear, I'm so sorry Johnny 😢 Please don't let this low point put you off the hobby or doing what you do. Its so difficult when you lose fish that you care for but you will overcome it. Which PP was you using and what size packet was it? I know Kusuri do 100 & 250g packets. The reason I ask this is if you measured out 15, then the scales must have been set on grams. If the the scales had been set on lbs & ounces, then no way would you have been able to weigh out 15lbs of PP, but also even if you was to try and measure out 15 ounces, that would have taken over 4 packets of 100g PP packets, and over 1.5 packets of 250g packets. I only say this to try and help you think where things may have gone wrong. Do you know a rough estimate of how much of the packet you used, 1/4? 1/3? 1/2?. Chin up👍👍
Abosolutely gutted for you Johnny. Please take solace from the fact that, whilst you have lost your fish, having the heart to put out this video will no doubt make many people take heed, and thus save many more fish in the future. Be strong, and move on.
Sorry to hear this and can appreciate as to how difficult it is. At the end of the day, it was an honest mistake. I haven't had to use PP as yet, but have heard a lot about the dangers associated with it. I'm sure your experience will be of benefit to others.
So sorry for your loss Jon. We all know the feeling of losing fish, wether its old age of parasite related. Keep strong pal and keep that chin up. Huge learning experience for yourself and others that have viewed your latest video. It's not as easy as people think, keeping koi. Your doing great this was just alittle set back. Take care pal 👍💙
Such a shame , but don't beat yourself up about it , everyone makes mistakes , especially when new to keeping Koi ,it's far more complicated than people think when they first start out , we've all lost fish ,we are all still learning ,main thing is you've learned from it ,and credit to you for sharing the experience ,so hopefully other people will learn from your video ,
I'm so gutted for you Johnny I'm glad you decided to put this out it will help others to learn How big pkt was the PP please don't beat your self up Johnny I'm sure there been more before you that have done it. stay safe Mate
Mate I'm absolutely gutted for ya, sometimes this hobby can kick us hard and unfortunately mistakes will be made, huge respect for showing this video, and take some comfort knowing it will help so many others when considering using pp. Chin up, lessons learned, if I can help in any way I will Andy
Hi Andy mate, thanks for the support and your 100% right pal chin up and off we go again. I can grow my knowledge from this huge error and I hope it helps someone. Thanks again mate
I've 12ins and 13ins all for sale. Being 73yrs old I've had enough now having cancer 3 times now my lungs have about burnt out so everything I'm hoping I can sell the whole lot P M I'm on whatsapp
Hi matey, gutted to hear this can't imagine how you must be feeling. It was an honest to goodness error. Anyone of us could have done it. Love the honesty and the rawness of your channel not just the good stuff(which is great by the way) but everything else. Keep going don't give up just learn all the best G
Hi Johnny so sorry to hear about your fish, I lost 2 x26 inch fish this year, as we love our fish we beat ourselves up, but you not feel alone so please , I should know better I have been keeping fish for a long time. And I made the same mistake, Respect Keith
Oh Johnny my heart is broken for you. I know there are people who use PP all the time but it scares the life out of me. This is something any of us could do, I know I did something similar with Virkon a long time ago. You are not alone and don’t beat yourself up with the woulda, shoulda, coulda. I’m just so so sorry you lost your babies, those special ones can never be replaced but others will find there way into your heart. Big hugs 🤗
@@bobbyknox9258 based on the standard 1 tablet per 1000 gallons, I transposed gallons for litres 🫣. Thankfully i realised immediately, did a major water change and suffered no losses 😱
Johnny, ABSOLUTELY gutted for you mate. You must be devastated for your loss. BUT, as others have said, you need to stop beating yourself up so much. We have all made mistakes in this hobby and in others. Whether it was a miscalculation or the scales malfunctioned, you never imagined for a second, that what happened, was going to do so. HUGE respect to you for this update, as so many out there would have tried to hide it. As you said, you will now have made others, more aware of the dangers involved with certain chemicals. So hopefully you will have helped others to avoid a similar situation, which I know is important to you, being such a genuine guy. I know its easier said than done, but chin up mate, you’ll learn from this and get that pond back to full strength in no time mate… 💪 🤞🏼
Hi Andy mate 👋 100% mate your right and Im getting my head round it now just wish I could rewind but I cant. I really really appreciate it and 100% lesson learnt 🐟
Hi Johnny, glad to hear you are coming to terms with it, it was just a very unfortunate accident. Sadly they happen mate, but we all know you will have that pond back to full strength real soon….. 👍🏼
So sorry to hear your loss but dont beat yourself up over it I've seen this happen many times with using chemicals in ponds chin up you have learnt from it just put it behind you now I lost everyone of mine once through KHV and there was nothing I could do about it but to just start again
Mate totally gutted for you, nothing anyone can say will change how you feel at the moment but mistakes happen and you learn from them to progress. Hope you can come to terms with what has happened and find your enthusiasm and love of koi again. Thank you for making this difficult film to help others as that's not easy !.
Hi there Jonny so sorry too hear this terrible news i know this video was a while ago but still sad news , as we have only just started out in the koi world ( pond 1yr old ) we not looking forward too doing a pp treatment anytime soon keep the chin up from Derek & Heather
Hi Johnny absolutely gutted for you, try and keep your head up we all make mistakes mate the thing is to learn from it we all appreciate the work you're putting in to teach us
Absolutely gutted for you Johnny. You've beaten yourself up enough and can see you new what you done wrong and what you should of had as back up, so no one will have the right to lecture you. School boy error with a harsh chemical its as simple as that . Chin up! Thanks for sharing so people realise this particular treatment can be deadly . I'd say don't beat yourself up but your going to for a week or so for sure that's natural mate. Tough lesson to learn but it can only make you a better koi keeper 👍🙏
Sad to hear man. I've been watching your channel since near the beginning. I hate adding chemicals to the pond, after all its not natural, but we have to do it to keep the fish healthy and parasite free. Because I'm a paranoid git I always check everything a few times, especially when using PP. Keep your chin up and definitely don't give up on the hobby! Love your videos and you're such a good personality to the koi scene. I'm in the Midlands and have some beautiful Tosai, if you want a few they're free of charge for you 👍
Hi mate thank you so so so much I feel the love and your comment on personality really helps me build back up again. Thanks for the offer mate. Thank you
Oh man 😞so sorry for your loss mate , I have enjoyed following your journey since nearly the beginning ,I feel devastated for you .it was an honest mistake mate please don’t beat your self up about it, you did all you could to save them , we all learn by our mistakes it’s just a shame it’s cost you so much, you really dont deserve what has happened , don’t give up you have come so far and I have learnt a lot from your channel being a beginner myself . Your a cracking bloke Johnny keep going please 🙏.look forward to your next episode , all the very best mate
really feel for you buddy. i nearly did the same mistake but felt something was wrong and it was my scales. a tip i do now is i measure a 2pence piece as it should weigh 7 grams to make sure the scales are right. even having your scales not fully flat can make them off. its so eaily done. chin up pal. ive made loads of mistakes so your not alone.
I feel for you mate, I did something similar when I set the scales to 19 gram but the tare was incorrect and therefore I actually weighed 90grams after 2 hours they started to show stress, I used HP and ST to neutralise the effect. I thought I had caught it in time and could see 1 fifteen year old fish struggling so I held it over the oxygen and it revived. I stayed watching but like you said difficult to see through the brown water. In the morning I didn’t see my oldest & biggest two at 65cm & 25year old & 56cm and nine years old , they were both motionless at the bottom of the pond. If I had known those were struggling I could have transferred them to my smaller pond. The other 23 were ok luckily but I can only blame myself also.
@@koifishjohnny yep no body to blame but myself. But I have put it into perspective that I have treated many fish with sores and parasites and ulcers with success that without my help would have been worse off. All we can do is try our best, and carry on.
I feel your pain john i did the same earlier in the year . I put 57 grams instead of 5.7 grams . I lost 4 .dont beat yourself up you will not be the last to overdose. We all lern from our mistakes. Big love pal ❤️
so sad to hear your news ,don't give up we are all learning so much following your journey remember when you had to sedate and treat a fish for the first time ?,this episode was so hard to watch but it will make us all better fish keeper's for the future. my heart goes out to you and your family
Wow Johnny a brutelly honest vlog regarding an honest human mistake, I felt the pain that you put across you will recover from this build up slowly. But bin the crap digital scales I never trust them, get yourself some descent beam scales very accurate also foolproof all the best mate. 👍👍👍
My thoughts are with you, I lost nearly all my fish last year I was going to pack my pond in but Dean Dimarco put me write, I bought new small fish a heat pump and this year has bean fantastic you learn by mistakes ,my fish I had were 15 years old heart breaking, my lessons are go back to basics don't complicate things don't add lot's of things, good luck moving forward and keep up the hard work.
Hey Jonny don’t know you but feel your pain. You have only failed if you give up. Learn from this and keep the quality content coming I can see some koi dealer visits coming. Chin up.
@@koifishjohnny something I haven't yet used mate and would be nervous about, so you info is honest and informative as i too would be devastated if I lost my fish
I’m so sorry you went through this tragedy. I know the horrible pain and anxiety you must’ve felt. Funny coincidence earlier today I pulled out my scale to measure praziquantel and suddenly didn’t trust it. So I had a new one delivered from the store. 😄 And when I did PP I bought 8 liters of Hydrogen Peroxide. I doubt my aptitude for focusing and always make myself ridiculous notes of my math calculations and I will reread and remeasure 5 times before I actually pull the trigger. My heart can’t handle it when something goes wrong.
I use that type of scale to measure my dogs food, and have accidentally changed the weight scale a number of times. Luckily he either gets too much or not enough food. I tend to think we make these errors because we are either too complacent, rushing or a novice. You got punished hard by your mistake, if you’d have lost a couple you’d have thought that was punishment enough! But your video will help others that’s for sure, not much comfort for you though. Thanks for sharing, hope you get over the shock.
Hi Andy, thanks mate and good to hear about your scales mate. Yeah was a huge shock and a massively devastating event but TBH I thought it can help someone avoid a silly step like me. Thanks for the support mate
Ive Loved watching all your videos right from the beggining, just wish this was a video you didnt have to make. Credit to you for putting it out. Absoulutly gutted for you mate, keeping koi can at times be a cruel hobby. Dont give up though, you have put so much time, effort and money into your pond, im sure many of us out there have made mistakes that have ended badly, all you can do is learn from these mistakes and move forward, you will feel like shit for a while, but dont beat yourself up too much, you will recover and get back to enjoying you pond again, im sure.
So sorry this happened to you mate. Unfortunately we are all human and do make mistakes from time to time. By doing this video you will probably have saved a lot of people making the same mistake in the future. Don’t give up mate!
So sorry mate! Don’t beat yourself up, I know nothing will make you feel any better but we all make mistakes in this hobby! Onwards and upwards, take care of yourself!
Thank you mate and I promise to have a video up this weekend with me smiling again. Im going to move these filters and get cracking. Thank you for the support ❤️
Absolutely gutted for you Johnny don't blame yourself too much it was a mistake, Vince told me on a message about this devastating event, anything I can do please let me know. Don't lose heart mate we are there for you. Kindest thoughts from all here at Koikarma Dave & Lin. ❤❤👍👍💯💯
Sorry for your loss mate. That's harsh. I always say to relative new keepers never use PP. And if you have to use it never use the powered stuff. Always the liquid.💙 also don't feed them for a week and chuck a couple of litres of those EA bacteria balls or equivalent coz youve nuked your filters.
Gutted mate. I have lost fish for the last 2 years because of taking koi dealers and other peoples advise to add this to pond and add that to pond. Koi need this koi need that and always got the same result dead fish. So my pond is left to nature to deal with the koi now. I was cleaning my filter every day as advised my a TH-camr that didn’t help I took fish out and treated for ulcers and even had a vet out to inject antibiotics into the koi that didn’t help. So it’s my way from now on. I clean my nexus twice a week and feed my fish 4 times a day using hikari wheatgerm. I don’t put a net in the pond and if my koi get a ulcer then nature will help it or it will die. It’s the only option I have now as I have tried every other option so 1 month into my way of pond keeping and so far so good. Sorry again for your loss
Sorry to hear about this mate if I could give one piece of advice is that you should fill up a blue koi bowl before adding the pp as this way you can transfer the fish is anything goes wrong
Mate thank you for sharing, so sorry to hear about this. Massive mistake, everyone makes mistakes, wasn't malicious, or your fault, things just F&£K up sometimes. We as keepers do our best always. Keep keeping and keep the faith. We learn and grow.
Thank you so much Jack100% and I promise to have a video up this weekend with me smiling again. Im going to move these filters and get cracking. Thank you for the support ❤️
Hey up fella. We all make mistakes fella and I feel your feelings of being gutted. I admire your honesty and thank you for sharing mate as we all learn. No criticism from me fella as we all feel gutted when losing favourite fish because we care but sometimes shit happens and we then just concentrate on the ones we have. Good luck fella.
ah mate so sorry to see this buddy, i can see how devastated you are. dont beat yourself up too much we all make mistakes. you will always say i wish i did this and that but thats hindsight for you. as koi keepers weve all been through times of mistakes and some fatal like yourself. you and your pond will get through it. do you need any fish donating at all?
Oh mate, I am so gutted for you☹️. I have absolutely no words to ease your pain☹️. You will bounce back but appreciate you must be gutted ☹️. Chin up mate👍🐟🈲😊
.........Mate.😯😟. I feel your pain. Your not the first and I'm sure won't be the last to make a mistake with PP. This event will make you a better, wiser Pond Keeper. The knowledge you have just gained and and published on Your channel has now potentially saved hundreds of other fish in other ponds.. You are Koi Fish Johnny, so let's all see how you move on from this as that's what your channel is all about.. and don't forget 'Every day is a school day'....
I am KOI FISH JOHNNY ❤️ Cheers mate you cheered me up and your right pal it could help others. Every day is a school day and some are more painful lessons than others cheers mate
One reason never used it Johny if you slightly over dose it game over. I've lost five today don't know cause but think it's this bacteria flying about. Hearts goes out to you
@@koifishjohnny just bought the flukes treatment don't get it till sat or Monday so till then plenty of water changes sponge cleans so keep healthy water because we want to keep the chances of sepsis the biggest bacteria killer to fish is Pseudomonas then you have to start thinking about antibiotics..hope this helps im still learning making mistakes
Sorry to hear this mate, Such a sad 😔 and horrible thing to have to go through, keep your head up mate its an genuine mistake these things happen it's part off the hobbie we live and learn from our mistake 🙏 and this video 📹 will help absolutely loads off people mate in the future, keep at it mate your videos our boss hope to see you smiling agen soon pal 👊 keep your head up 👍
Johnny mate I’m so gutted for you pal but please don’t beat yourself up. Your journey so far has been amazing and proved with the support you’ve received from everyone. You made a error, we all do mate were only human, no looking back only forward buddy.
Awful news mate…I can hear in your voice how it’s affected you! You didn’t do this on purpose so don’t keep beating yourself up! Use this time now as a time to choose your perfect fish going forward! You’ll get through this, don’t give up! One of life’s harsh lessons, you won’t do this again! @@koifishjohnny that’s it mate, keep going…it’s completely natural to feel like giving up but take stock, have a breather and crack on! Room for some nice Japanese fish now, can really make the most of a bad situation! 🙏🏻
Just watched your uplifting video with your new vests and straight onto the devastating news about you loosing 15 fish try to keep your chin up mate as a newby myself i can fill your pain 😔😔
Everything is an experience, but frequent disinfection is an archaic practice from our pre-1980s days. It is now recommended to value the summer feeding period more and prepare well so that it only needs to be done twice a year, before the feeding season and before overwintering, and still establish a routine where the feeding period is as undisturbed as possible. In other words, imitate the kind of schedule that professional breeders keep in mud ponds!
@@koifishjohnny Disinfection during feeding is burdensome and it is always better to fast, but in this sense it is preferable to have a well-developed annual schedule. I wish you to be the leading seasonality-oriented KOI hobbyist not only in the UK but in all of Europe.
For future, Sodium Thiosulphate (dechlorinator) also neutralises PP quickly - I realise that doesn't help you at the moment, but might help others in an emergency
Gutted for you mate 😢 it's hard to come to terms with but mistakes happen and you're definitely not the 1st and you 100% will not be the last to do that. Try taking the positives out this bad situation. You still have 9 fish to care for and its something you won't do again. Chin up and take care 🐟😎👍🏻
@@koifishjohnny I'm so glad you shared your experience. It will hugely help others and hopefully they can avoid it 🙏 I take my hat off to you. Well done mate, keep the videos coming 👏
I don't keep koi although i really like this side of fish keeping. I keep other species and i have seven tanks and been in the hobby 40 plus. Over the years i made my share of mistakes. One time i did a water change and didn't pay attention to the water temp going back in my show tank and killed over 25 fish all show stoppers and they died one by one which destroyed me so much i left my large show tank empty for over 3 months. I finally started over but it was painful. Brother i hear the pain in you're voice and see it in you're face. I know you're really upset sadly there's nothing you can do but learn from this tradegy. I'm really sorry this happened to you remember you didn't mean to do this all you can do is wait until you're stomach doesn't feel as sick as it does now and start over. Some advice when using medications l always use less then they say to be safer realizing it's always a risk. Well that's about it brother keep you're chin up deal with the loss and try and move forward. Later bro. P.s. don't be embarrassed you're human like us all.
Really sad ☹ can't change what's happened mate just need to get a handle on the guilt. Mistakes happen and sometimes the consequences are dire. Own it and make it make you stronger 🙂 As an aside I have some really nice Adam Byer fry grow ons from 2021 that are now Tosai that you can have if you want to restock for Freeeeeeee 🙂 take it easy 🙂

@@koifishjohnny was the last thing I could of thought of being the reason , I honestly thought someone was stealing them lol I stayed up all night watching live feed from cctv at 3am and saw a pair of eyes on surface then it’s tail as it dive down 😡 I’m in a wheelchair so got on my chair with rifle , went out back door in a rush down the ramp an tipped out my chair onto the patio 🙄🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣 by time I got myself up etc it had gone , I had one koi left out 25 , had some really nice koi that I had imported from Japan too , plus a couple from a old mate that were nearly 20yrs old 😢😡 pond sat empty for two year after no water in etc just shut it down , but now back up an running since last summer with restock of 25 koi ( nothing fancy this time though ) 🙄😂👌🏻👍🏻

Really sorry to hear this, It's a terrible shame what has happened.
mistakes can easily be made when we have to be our own VET's for the fish.
a quick tip for measuring out very small quantities of medication is to use a 20p coin as a calibration test weight,
it weighs exactly 5.0 grams.
Hi Dave, great point mate. I actually watched this on a video pre treatment. Wish I listened more. Cheers buddy I do appreciate the support
Cheers for sharing Jennifer, we live and we learn. Take care and stay strong. All the bets for 2023 ❤️
Back in 2018, my pond had filters exposed to the elements, uninsulated pipework all exposed to the elements as well.

Hi Lindo, good point yeah feels empty, feels tempting but when I do it will only be 4 for this year. Thank you for the support
Hi Ross mate, thanks pal your right and thanks for sharing your experiences mate. It was 19 degrees here and not that hot pal TBH
Thanks mate

Hi Trevor mate 👋 Thank you so much pal. I really really appreciate it and 100% lesson learnt 🐟
oh dear, I'm so sorry Johnny 😢 Please don't let this low point put you off the hobby or doing what you do. 1/3? 1/2?.
Chin up👍👍
Hi mate, interesting pal. I think I did x2 treatments successfully with this packet mate but I had a smaller pond so about 80% full of a 250g bag
Abosolutely gutted for you Johnny. Please take solace from the fact that, whilst you have lost your fish, having the heart to put out this video will no doubt make many people take heed, and thus save many more fish in the future.

Sorry to hear this Mike its a painful lesson
@@koifishjohnny yep no body to blame but myself. But I have put it into perspective that I have treated many fish with sores and parasites and ulcers with success that without my help would have been worse off. All we can do is try our best, and carry on.

@@peterspuddleskoiandgoldfish ❤ cheers mate
I’m so sorry you went through this tragedy. I know the horrible pain and anxiety you must’ve felt. Funny coincidence earlier today I pulled out my scale to measure praziquantel and suddenly didn’t trust it. So I had a new one delivered from the store. 😄 And when I did PP I bought 8 liters of Hydrogen Peroxide. I doubt my aptitude for focusing and always make myself ridiculous notes of my math calculations and I will reread and remeasure 5 times before I actually pull the trigger. My heart can’t handle it when something goes wrong.
I agree mate it isnt nice wen it goes wrong. But I 100% learnt from it pal thanks for watching

Hi Adrian, thanks mate I really appreciate it. I just feel a bit lost with it at moment head is all over but your right pal. Thanks ☹️
Hi Bobby mate, good points mate. Im moving the filter in a couple of days and they still in shock so not eating. Cheers mate
So so sorry this has happened but don’t beat yourself up we should all learn from this keep it going
Hi Ian mate 👋 Thank you so much pal. I really really appreciate it and 100% lesson learnt 🐟

Hi mate, thanks for the support and your 100% right pal chin up and off we go again. I will try pal
@@atsuminaoki9910 thanks mate super appreciated ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@koifishjohnny Disinfection during feeding is burdensome and it is always better to fast, but in this sense it is preferable to have a well-developed annual schedule. I wish you to be the leading seasonality-oriented KOI hobbyist not only in the UK but in all of Europe.

For future, Sodium Thiosulphate (dechlorinator) also neutralises PP quickly - I realise that doesn't help you at the moment, but might help others in an emergency

Hi Michael, thank you so much for the supportive message mate its truly appreciated and your right onwards and upwards pal. Take care
