When I started working out, my two main mistakes were lack of sleep and not eating enough (not being in a caloric surplus). I always thought I was eating enough and was disappointed because my weight stagnated. Then I got my first diet plan created (I think it was from Next Level Diet). I realised that my previous food intake was way below my needs, although I thought I'm good. At the beginning it was hard to eat 3200 kcal in a day, but I got used to it. I started noticing real gains and it felt amazing. I wish I'd understood the importance of diet earlier.
Im having simmilar issues im 192cm tall and i weighed around 82kg 6mo ago then i started going to the gym regularly and eating more protein and in a few months ive gotten myself to around 86kg but since then in the last 3 months i havent gotten any weight up but i didnt change my diet or protein intake at all, and im still progressively overloading successfully in the gym?
Yea you have to eat like a horse to gain muscle . The most I ever weighed was 300 pounds, of course not all of it was muscle but I could not get above 300 or 305, and I was eating up to 10 times a day and I was drinking weight gainers every other meal. People do not realize how much you have to eat to get stronger and gain muscle. Eating is the hardest part training comes second .
I’m not a big guy (closer to lean but not lean because of chest fat and lower back fat). I’m trying to get rid of my chest fat by doing cardio twice a week, lifting heavy on Monday ,Wednesday, and Friday, and eating only three times a day in the morning, lunch (around 1pm), and dinner at 5pm. Breakfast is oatmeal with walnuts, dried cranberries, banana chips, apricots, cinnamon, honey, and unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and plain Greek yogurt. Lunch is a chocolate Premier Protein shake, 1 pouch of Starkist tuna, 3 dried apricots, and half a bowl of Green Giant Tuscan Seasond Broccoli. Lastly, dinner is three pieces of seasoned tilapia, the other half of the broccoli I had for lunch or some other vegetable, and lentils or beans, quinoa, or rice one of those. I’m not starving eating three times a day like this but I’m wondering if I can still keep or gain muscle with my diet while trying to lose overall fat on my body. Like you I’m wondering if I’m not eating enough? I can see I’m getting lean but that fat on my chest and lower back is stubborn. I’m in my early 40s by the way. Never been fat with a belly, don’t smoke, don’t do drugs, I did drink but stopped. What’s your advice on losing body fat while trying to keep or gain muscle?
Their numbers are frequently off, sometimes by a little sometimes a lot. They need more double checking on these numbers, off a little is whatever but you're right this meal was closer to 90 carbs than 9.
