    Bishop Barron helped me too! I fill my days as much as I can with his talks, gospel reflections, his series on the beauty of Catholicism, and many Word on Fire topics. One thing I have found so helpful, is that much of his content is free; so he truly does what he says, he evangelizes, and that is for everyone, not just people with money to spend, so I just replace time that I would have spent on the internet being filled with negativity and confusion to this more useful resource WOF (Bishop Barron), to grow my soul.

    I’m a Protestant brother, but I just received and began reading the Word on Fire Bible, and I just wanted to state how much I’m enjoying it. I’ve read the gospels many times, but something about the structure this Bible makes it feel new. Thanks for the work that was put into making this text. I look forward to the next volume!

    Bishop Barron, thank you once more for an incredible video. I have to admit that I had never heard some of the theories before and perhaps I was able to follow most of the discussion but not all of it. That doesn’t deter me, on the contrary. I love challenges and I have always valued learning new things and expanding my knowledge. An avid reader in my youth, I became too engrossed with daily life and stopped. Glad to say, I have picked it up again. I feel very comfortable learning new things from you by being safe in the knowledge that you would never take us anywhere but to the fullness of truth. Thank you! I cherish all of you.

    As always an informative and intelligent presentation. Science is great in explaining most of the material, sensory world, but it has little to say about ethics, morality, and abstract concepts like freedom, justice and love. The finite tools of science can’t reveal the infinite and transcendent. I appreciate that Bishop Barron so often reminds us that to rely solely on the scientific method is to limit the full dimensions of what it is to be human. Thank you all for this program. God bless you.

      I have been a great fan of Dylan since the early 60's. His music and lyrics have touched me in many ways that I did not even understand at the time. I love the was that Bishop Barron and Jason Blakely explain that his music is a work of art that stands on its own. It puts you in touch with the message without requiring a strict interpretation. Sadly while on vacation recently I asked some young musicians playing at a bar if they knew some Dylan. Their response was 'Dylan who'. Every time I listen to Dylan, I find something new. Yes, I am growing younger.

    A good counter to the Bishop's account of movies stories that "throw off the father's story" is *Blinded by the Light*. It is about a British teen in the 80s of Pakistani ancestry, who discovers the music of Bruce Springsteen. This leads him on a rebellious path like the one the Bishop describes, BUT he is forced to confront the selfishness in that approach, and the result is very moving.

    This answers the question why people like Jordan Peterson have so surprised even those he appeals to when he defines in words someone who says, "He's talking about me." They find in him someone who understands them and cares about them and that they can reach for something more and understand themselves. He shows them what they need to do to give their lives meaning: "become personally responsible." It's so much more powerful than Marxism which says you have to take what you need away from someone else which leads to no meaning: nihilism. It tears down your neighbor whereas what JP does is show you you have something of worth to offer your neighbor, yourself and that it makes you happy to give it.

    Can you please interview Dr. Bart D. Ehrman, a Biblical scholar who confronts the early forming of the Bible and its entirety and he's also versed in several ancient languages.....

    • @filiusvivam4315
      @filiusvivam4315 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s a very generous description of Mr. Ehrman. I would not say that he’s a biblical scholar. He WAS a Protestant that came an angry atheist when confronted with the HISTORICAL reality that Jesus Christ founded a CHURCH, and didn’t hand out 66 books of the Bible. In other words, his world view was crushed and instead of coming hone to the Catholic Church, he became bitter because he was lied to (intentionally or not).. His story is a cautionary tale for all PROTESTANTS and ahistorical non-Christian communities like LDS, JW, and others.

    • @jclar7210
      @jclar7210 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Filius i think that you have to think outside the box. Dr. Ehrman has studied ancient books and gives his honest opinion on how Antiquity rejected and accepted ancient books for the Bible. Also that St. Peter or Paul did not write their books that they claim they wrote for example. He presents the information well researched and let's the audience judge for themselves. He's not trying to change people's mind on their faith. I understand the frustration because I am a Catholic all my life but open to hearing about real research being done by peoplethatknow howtoresearch ancient biblica linformation. But you cannot depend on one or two sources. I think people need to hear what other people have to say. Talking about Augustin or Aquinas although very thoughtful and interesting they are opinions for example in St. Aquinas case from the 1200's. Sure someone can put their whole faith into something in the 1200's they have nothing better to do. Something with no distractions. The point is that Nobody knows what really happened in 33 A.D. after Jesus died. it wasn't until years later that someone claimed that they saw Christ. But then again people were writing and claiming to be Paul or another opostle. But then their writing styles didn't match up all the time. So what does all that bring me to as of a conclusion. I'll tell you what it brings .me to conclude: disappointment! even though I still pray daily, not knowing what will happen in the end. No one has an answer!! No one has a concrete answer There isn't anybody that knows the answer to that question of whT happen s when we die, not even Bishoo Barron. Then what is the point of getting people to convert to Catholism. What Dr. Ehrman does is Well researched information which myself being Catholic have never heard of but very interesting and well researched as i mentioned before. Bishop Barron does Not talk about the origins of the Bible or which books were rejected from the writers at that time but why? His infatuation with Aquinas who lived in the 1200's are you kidding me!! Tge 1200's!! Who is more credible with their research and study?? Hello!!

      What I meant was that humans like any animal is selfish, which is a quality required for survival in nature. Or if you wish, God created human a selfish animal. Then asking them to be kind and share things with others with threat of hell in case we don't, is extortion. To make it clear, I'm all for sharing. Bishop, I admire and love your poise/wit/class/Professionalism/ and genius-like ability to deliver speeches and this video has them all.It's Exceptionally deep, informative, filled with science-related topics , which makes this video too deep for the normal/everyday people, including myself.I would rather you talk about JOB, JEREMIAH, More on EZEKIEL etc.
    Hemeneutics? Knowledge that study interpretation with the bible. This is too perplexing and incomprehensible . Imagine if this kind of study existed during Jesus or Solomon's time.
    This is a video where only intellectuals tread, for the point to traverse the plane of rhetoric, thus, we can not transcend with the three of you to where you're leading this deep conversation to.The word " Hermeneutic" is so unfamiliar to me and it's above my grade and just not interested to find out more about this study, which is to study what someone has interpreted. What happened to the simplier way of understanding the interpretation by the common ways of discovering the truth?...........
    Does it align to the biblical contents?
    Does it align to Jesus Gospel?
    Are they biblical? and all the many interrogative ways of finding the truth?
    Why complicate the simplicity of knowing what's from God and what's not?
    God's work is deep, mysterious and unfathomable for any human being to study them.Can anyone interpret what God is doing since the beginning of time?
    I still love you and admire your rare possession of your intellect/mental capacity and showing it in a higher degree as can be seen in this video, But, you're too high and too deep, so you need to come down where " Hermeneutic' will not be part of that conversation.Tell me/us something I can understand and not something I've never heard before.

    it would be better to have a straight podcast between Bishop Barron and a guest (as in the Jordan Peterson podcast way - have a great guest and have a conversation between the two of you).. there is no need for an 'interviewer' or a presenter. he just gets in the way.. it is an unnecessary intrusion and makes the whole thing too 'formal'. there is in fact no need for an in-person format anymore (which limits or delays what guest can be spoken to). no one watching cares if you are in the same room, we just want the content - two minds going back and forth, playing off each other. it is riveting.. in ways the above format is not.

    I stopped listening at 12:50 after hearing Bp. Barron's misrepresentation of Milton Friedman. He NEVER reduced the whole human project to homo economicus. His economics were a reflection of a deeper and broader humanism. If Friedman had been a pope, : ), he would have written this. It certainly reflects his thoughts and his heart.
    "Each man in all the unrepeatable reality of what he is and what he does, of his intellect and will, of his conscience and heart. Man who in his reality has, because he is a 'person,' a history of his life that is his own and, most important, a history of his soul that is his own."
