Thank you a lot for this conversation !
      More nuances is always welcome.
That said, I'm not sure I get it.
I realy liked you analogy about the fly; demonstrating the ties bewteen "empirical" observation and culture.
I completly agree that it's armfull to pretend that if something is quantize, it's automatically unbias.
This behavior seems cult-like and anti-scientific, to me.
Science is a tool that can be missused.
While I disagree with the "tyranie of numbers" arguments, I can see the problem that comes with a world where all human interactions are seen as transaction.
I also agree that Science has nothing to say about meaning.
At the same time, I can't say I'm really satisfy with the idea of story.
It feels to me like story are an even worse tool of reality equiry.
When I think about story, I think about my oncle that will explain that poor people are poor because they are lazy.
Thanks a lot, I'm looking forward to your book!

Thank you for this podcast. I often feel stuck behind the sciops, feeling there's something misleadinh, something I am not fully grasping, and it's so refreshing and affirming and thought provoking to listen to these conversations. Makes me feel human and curious again. Thank you all.

I really found this discussion helpful. Jason was clear, Taimur did an excellent job asking questions for the listener being introduced to his theory, and Ali’s skeptical question’s helped clarify Jason’s criticisms.

Great guest, great episode. Would love to see Jason Blakely and Tyler Cowen talk about Jason’s ideas. Tyler is very open to critiques of Economics, he does it himself quite often.

Very great stuff Blakely! I have a BA in Econ and Poli Sci and many of your stuff resonates with the concerns I had, and waya to go forward. I've qlways had interest in philosophy, humanities, and theology so I knew about scientism pretty fast. I think it'd be good to do some work with an economist specifically someone in a "heterodox" school, but better yet a philosopher of economics or historian of economic thought.
Its just thst there are good critiques of "economics", and bad ones so it is good to cover your bases to protect yourself from attacks.
On a fonal note I believe there are many ppl interested in this, and from what I see, ppl in sociology and anthropology are much more into qualitative analysis.

I did read the book the day Taimur recommended and was delighted to see this talk with the author. Thank you!
By the way, I enjoyed Ali (a medical doctor and one of the smarted humans on this earth) asking about the definition of hermeneutics right after the author defined populist (which is nickname for the uneducated) 😂
An excellent way of breaking these artificial barriers between the so called elite and the populist. That is my hermeneutic 😂

I looked at Blakely's Harper's article. He seems to say that elites said to close the schools in some places. Part of that happened because the teachers in those schools refused to work in them. In other states, teachers were not as predisposed to stay home. Or those who did, retired or quit or moved. So, just as he suggests it was political to "follow the science," it was also political not to follow the science in the same way. It wasn't just elites involved in making the decision to close schools.

Salaam Ali. I respect you’re a hardworking person who also gives money to charity. Please make a language course. That is the only course I would buy, how to productively learn a new language. Tim ferris had 10 basic sentences to learn in any language. Anyway I hope you can get together with language experts and make some language courses 😊you have educated audience and this is a growing topic/trend especially with use of AI to help.
