- The 3rd Chargeheads EV Meet. This time we focused on Andy's 220,000 miles Tesla "Stealth" performance model 3.
At the start of 2021 I created Chargeheads to ELECTRIFY petrolheads essentially get more car enthusiasts into electric cars. An Electric Petrolhead if you like....A CHARGEHEAD!!!!
To start I decided to do an EV conversion and went on an amazing journey visiting many of the big companies in this field.
I selected the not so well known TVR Tasmin 350i, AKA the Wedge (#tvrwedgee ) to electrify after careful consideration of other cars. As I already had a TVR Griffith which I enjoyed driving and with my passion for raw, powerful, tail happy cars with no driver aids TVR was the obvious choice when selecting a car to electrify.
The 2nd build is the #SpecialTrikee project a 1970's BSA Aerial 3 Tricycle Scooter that me and my mate Vinny have turned into a e-Trike. I use this for local trips and it's a load of fun. Mrs Chargehead calls it my special scooter.....that originally had a 50cc two stroke motor and has a 250 watt motor in it, of course.
The Latest project is Rustee #RusteeTesla the Tesla build to make a Model 3 Long Range....well.....better! Better in looks, handling and performance while keeping her a monster mile daily and the efficiency intact. Focusing again on modifying with used parts to keep it green, where possible.
I hope to not only entertain with ChargeheadsUK Channel and the #TVRWedgee, #SpecialTrikee and #RusteeTesla builds, but also to inspire watchers to create their own greener transport.
With the help of leaders in their field like Ralph Hosier (Engineer, designer, builder of special vehicles, teacher, writer, TV presenter and trouble maker.
Ralph teaches Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Training (IMI Techsafe), builds some amazing one off projects and most of all is a top bloke!
He's the engineer behind #TVRWedgee the Electric TVR.
So let the fun begin......safely in a controlled environment using the right EV safety equipment! ;0)
Did I mention myself and Ralph have also done an EV Conversion safety video as well

That was mine until just before Christmas. I did 218k miles in it from new
Ah haa so you're the original owner?
@@chargeheadsuk yes sir, used it to chauffeur people from Midlands and the North to LHR/LGW and from South coast cruise ships
@@nicksellors mine has a mere 92000 miles on it. What do you drive now?
@@chargeheadsuk m3p new from Tesla in October
@@nicksellors nice! Looking forward to the new shape one soon
Hello from Wisconsin USA - Model 3 RWD owner.
I bet its mighty cold there right now
Im seriously considering a used 2018 Model 3 Performance because the prices here in Canada are becoming reasonable. Very interesting video!
Thabks for your comment. The legacy media are certainly bringing used EV prices down here 🤷♂️
You won't be disappointed I promise!! Tesla LR 2020 and RWD Model 3 2021❤ well over 40K on both cars 0 issues 0 maintenance costs and around 20K in Gasoline savings😂 it will pay for 1 in a few yrs!!❤😮
Great video as you said there is some rubbish on the web by people and Ev haters. I do believe the best way to extend the life of the batteries is to avoid rapid charging we’re possible charging at home overnight only using them when really necessary. And that goes for all Ev’s and definitely don’t charge to 100% and leave it at that state of charge for long periods. Charge to 100 % then drive off.
I do what i can for battery health, although 90 and 95% charge is needed for long runs occassionally. Made it to Bristol and back on Saturday 262 miles round trip 95 to 2%
Howdy I just bought the same aero wheels you have, just wondering how you are finding those stickers in the car as well as the small rubber cover in the wheels? Do they stay on well?
There’s one on eBay 266,000 miles for £13k, battery down to 76%
Oh really, more like £9k IMO
165k 2016 model s 85D. Needed new discs and pads all round last year (corroded due to lack of use and lack of servicing). Some rear suspension components needed replaced at the same time as well as front track rod ends. Charge port wore out and needed replaced. The MCU1 computer is absolutely pants, crashes all the time and connectivity is poor. Plus the GPS goes off course when it’s been raining heavy (maybe water in the boot?). Other than that been absolutely flawless, still going strong. Comes off warranty in March.
How much is it for the charge port?
@@chargeheadsuk £700. This was about 2 years ago.
@@brettsta72 an older Model s does tempt me I must admit. My Tesla model 3 will have done 95,000 by the end of this week. Have you done a battery degredation test on yours?
@@chargeheadsuk I haven’t and to be honest I wouldn’t know how. But the 8 year warranty is up in March so I was thinking it might be worth it, or a waste of money? It averages about 350wh/m so nowhere near as efficient as the new cars but it’s holding together.
@@brettsta72 my average over 30k is 273 based on mainly 70mph ish motorway miles
Lots of nice looking motors there, but still rather they were electric or not ICE
My model 3 long range I just turned over a hundred thousand just bought it last year with 43,000 I do Uber and so I put some miles on through the car I got a charger at the house I don't try to do the supercharger that much but since 2018 since the car has been built there has been nothing done to it except one tire change from the people that I bought it from at the dealership and then my own tire change after 40,000 that I put on to it and that's about it so far it does have the notorious Tesla squeak in the front suspension and so I got a service call to put in the upper control arms 223 which I don't think is too bad if that's the only money after spend on it after all that time
I did 30k last year
120,000 miles on my 2021 Model Y
Wowzers, thats impressive. Long range? Have you done a battery Deg test?
@@chargeheadsuk I would but this is actually my 3rd battery.
@@chargeheadsuk yes LR dual motor. Many road trips and also rideshare part time
@@chargepozitive what the hell 🙈
FYI - It's current, not "ampage" 😆
Did you say "Black Delmonte's"? 🤣 (5mins 19 secs)
Yes, you know me well enough to know what comes out of my mouth makes little or no sense 😉
I feel a tad embarrassed at only 21k miles!!
Ill be at 100k by April I reckon
Same!! I'm at 50k miles and I'm already worried about a sudden drop to 50% degradation on my LFP battery lol
He said upset some ice cars lol these new ice cars only need down pipe and tune and they running 10s easily
Depends on the ICE car
