Some people say the Hayabusa can be included in the sports touring category, here is another bike that walks the fine line between sports touring and sport bike.

This is the greatest bike I’ve ever owned. I lightened it by replacing the exhaust with yoshimura pipes. I put a power commander air filter in it and got rid of all the plastic around the plate with an eliminator kit. Chromed out the frame and rims for the look. All I gotta say is: 110mph in first gear. All the legends are true.

It is different, that is an understatement. The most comfy bike I've ever ridden and owned for more than 20 years through its interations. Many will conclude that the reason for purchasing this bike is for the power, it isn't, its the comfort combined with power and torque you can use but will never fully need in terms of what it can do. It is so comfortable and versatile that it is still my favourite bike for touring and round town. The look? you love it or hate it, I love it, so strange yet convenient and obviously streamlined. Big fuel tank, better mileage per litre than I get with other in line fours or twins for that matter. Its a 'go all day' with comfort and convenience bike - so underrated as a travel companion. The thing that is different is the immediacy of the power and torque. You are always going faster than you think so you have to beware of where you are on the road and what speed you are doing and what the braking can deliver. However, it can also be ridden like its a kitten. I actually ride slower at times around town on this bike than other 'wanna be' sports bikes, just because it can do whatever you want and everyone knows it.

Had an 01 coming off an XX and have had a half dozen bikes since- the Hayabusa has been the best all around motorcycle. Weight is deceiving- power is AMAZING. It carved canyons and was a freight train on the open highway. It did everything I wanted it to with ease. Something about all that reserve power on tap that makes this bike king of the road.

Ive owned a 03' and a 05' i put the buell peg mod on, heli bars that raised the bars 2", double bubble windscreen, shorty slip ons, undertail, and a side mount plate, call it done. I love the seat cowl look, underneath you can fit small things as its a small compartment. You can also put on bags for long distance touring but i never would lol. I currently own a harley StreetGlide and have owned many harleys. The Busa is more planted, takes the winds, bumps better than any Harley ive owned. In 08' they made some modifications. I like the 3 mode system so if you get stuck in the rain on mode C it drops the power by 40%. Handles great in the rain. Throttle response on a Busa is more forgiving than any 600 or liter bike ive owned. They say around the world the Busa is the best motorcycle for the $. Next yr ill be selling my Harley and will be getting the Busa. I miss the Busa. Could be the last bike i ever own along with a evo fatboy maybe for a 2nd bike. Also insurance is cheaper on the Busa than a Harley because of value and its classified as a sport touring and not a heavy weight. It only weighs around what a sportster weighs. Im waiting for the 2021 model to come out and see what it looks like and what changes have been made. Otherwise ill be looking for the 2015 black with gold pinstripe. Thanks for the video.

Terrific video Sean. That's one beautiful Busa! I've watched a lot of Hayabusa reviews and this is the best by far. So many young TH-camrs get on one and are riding around at about 6 - 7,000 RPM in town and on the highway and I'm saying to myself why doesn't he just shift that thing?
One of the nice things about a bike like that is you can ride around town at 2,500 RPM or like you did on the highway at 3 - 4,000 and the bike doesn't mind a bit.
Here in Canada we don't see stretched Busa's like are so common in the States. I'm thinking maybe our laws don't permit it, .. or maybe we just like them the way Suzuki designed them.

I finally decided I wanted something a little more nimble that I don't have to hang off the side during high speed cornering. Ended up with a 2004 GSXR-1000 and a 2005 R1. Even though the second gen bikes have almost 25 more hp. I definitely recommend 2008 and above because I still spin above 7k rpm in 1,2, in rain and occasionally 3rd in heavy rain in c mode. Although I know not a lot of people ride in the rain but I had a 500 ninja and then bought a new 08 busa and learned to ride A mode in about 3 weeks

I think of the Busa as the Shelby Mustang of motorcycles. Badass, horsepower AND torque to burn, and that low throaty exhaust rumble when tooling around town. Stock it will handle twisting roads nicely, but with some modifications it will hang with almost anything else out there- just maybe 5-10% less cornering capability than a liter bike, due to the additional weight and wheelbase.

I still miss that bird, but in total honesty, the xx set the stage, and Suzuki perfected the hyper bike, lol, I hate that name but facts is facts.I will have another Bird when I can do 600/mo ins on both, but for now, the Busa is supreme.
