Hello I had cataract surgery 10 years ago in both eyes, is it possible to do the surgery again, to help with blurriness ? Thanks so much for your videos.
Hello, I'm 26 and have had blurry vision for a few years. I didn't notice it before, but I've been using computers and phones for about 5 years. I can't remember when my vision was good. A few days ago, my vision got worse, and now I can't see well beyond 2 meters. I can see clearly up close. My eyes feel like they are bulging. When I wear my prescription glasses, I can see clearly from a distance. Is this myopia, glaucoma, diabetes, or something else? I didn't tell him that I've been consuming too much sugar for about a year, drinking Coke up to three times a day. He told me it was astigmatism after a test where he put me in front of a machine with a small illuminated picture. Could he have misdiagnosed me because I didn't tell him about my sugar intake this year? All i can remember is that my eyes is blurry few months ago but I'm used to it. But this last few days my eyes just suddenly more blurry.
Since I became a diabetic, I fell like I am looking through water. Also, I have a hard time reading because I also have mild cataracts, yet I am told in my annual eye exam that my eyes are fine.
My husband had this before he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. It was the final straw for him to go get checked out. I also have type 1 and when my blood sugar gets very low, I start getting a strange, silvery disk in my vision. I call it "silver Pacman", it's hard to see through and it gets larger and larger and eventually will cover my entire field of vision until my blood sugar comes up and it recedes and disappears. Diabetes can do all sorts of weird things.

Do tired eyes or allergens cause blurred vision with watery eyes? I wake up and my eyes hurt, sting, water, and blur. I can't see a screen well. And it gets better some times but like today terrible. I try to focus 9n the screen and everything blurs and feel like I'm looking through water.
I need an opthalmologist to answer this: What is a safe post prandial sugar level prevent eye problems? I hear some people say 180, others say 140 , or 120? I hear that at 180 epithelium starts to get damaged. Are the tiny vessels in the the eyes the same ? Or more delicate? Please make a video on this doctor!
For me when it goes around 180 I start getting a pinching sensation Around 140 feels stress in the eyes Also I am seeing floaters and afterimages of objects a lot (like when I see something not that bright as soon as I shift my vision to another place I saw that object again ) Went to the retina specialist said nothing serious Are you facing some so these issues too ?
I've already had Lazic surgery years ago to get rid of cataracts and I recently had bleeding in the eyes and blurry vision in my left eye. The doc stuck a needle in my eye (hardly felt it, no pain) and my vision is better already. I'm due for at least one more shot and they cost me $150 out of pocket per shot.
I’ve been on a keto diet and even left fruits off for two years, but food is getting so expensive. Sometimes I eat a slice of sourdough bread with tuna and have steel oats because I can’t afford to keep me in good fats all the time.
Went from 180 to 159 at one time I started eating too many carbs and it wasn’t a lot and shot my weight went up 170, Cut carbs off for a few days and I only ate once today back down to 65😢
Great video! I'm a Type 2 diabetic and I always make sure to take great care of my eyes because of the obvious risks. This video was very informative. Just a general question regarding blocked tear ducts. I have an appointment in a few days with my eye doctor and I'm wondering if it's safe to get my pupils dilated if my tear ducts are still blocked? Reason for my question is that I fear that if the drops do not successfully drain through my tear ducts and later through my nose then my pupils could be dilated indefinitely. And to make things even more complicated, I often suffer from dry eyes when my tears are not overflowing. Should I be worried about something as routine as pupil dilation even under these circumstances? Please help me in dispelling my ridiculous fear regarding this matter. Thank You!
Thanks for the comment! You should be fine to be dilated. Sometimes we actually tell people to do "punctal occlusion" when we put the drops in to get a better response. You may be dilated really well, but you won't be dilated indefinitely. Great question!
i've been getting flashing blind spots for 4 years. they start sparkling or having tv noize when adapting to a new light. plus i can't see through them but my doc said everything is fine. they also change their size depending on distance. what this can be? i've been suffering from diabetes since i was born. i stoped eating chocolate and other sweety food because that kind of food gave me more blind spots when i ate it.
Type 2 Diabetes here with nerve damage in my feet, legs, and back from years of extremely high blood sugar when I had no way to get medication. I just did an eye exam last month as my close vision is blurry as hell, and I can still see far off, but its starting to become a problem. The last few days my eyes have been extremely dry more than usual & my left eye on the over left side feels so bad it feels like my eye lashes are inside out but there is nothing in there. The left eye is the one the doctor said that some of the blood vessels to be damaged, and he said I had small cataracts but nothing bad yet. My blood sugar was 600+ for more than 7 years, its amazing it didn't do more damage. Its such a shame that everything is prescription for things like this being it could save someones life. I take weekly Mounjaro 2.5mg which I have never had to up to dosage of as it does a good job. There are a lot of negative side effects, but I do my best to fight threw them being its the only thing so far that has helped.
Hi Doc. I am very scared. My diabetes was so out of control I had to go the ER & have my toe amputated. My eyes got very blurry soon after. But I take insulin and its getting better. Its my lift eye. I still suffer from blurry vision but notice its getting better. In the ER 10-31. And I check my Diabtes. My twin brother Randy passed away needing dialysis and he was blind in one eye! Not drinking sodas have been a life long battle. But the doctors say I need to wake up and be thankful my kidneys are still ok-fair-good.!
Thanks for the video, I just had my prescription change in a few days and I'm wondering if there is a suggestion of at what point will my prescription settle to get new glasses, right now I see better with glasses from 5 years ago then the ones I was using.
I’m 61/F with cataracts in both eyes, left older/worse. Op delayed due to Covid. Also hyperthyroidism and insulin resistance. Definitely giving up sugar drug as of now. Will this help cataracts whilst waiting? Wish there was a way to correct without surgery. Thanks 🙏
I have had a really bad time over the last few years looking after my Mother, and she went in to a Nursing Home and eventually died, just a bag of bones, not even able to speak in the end. I have not been able able to get my blood sugar down, and have now began to get blurry vision in my left eye, which I first noticed watching TV. The problem is, I have not been to tolerate the diabetic tablets that my GP prescribed, and feel dreadful after taking them. I am on Sitagliptin 100mg, Glimeperide 2mg, and Jardiance 10mg, which make me feel terrible. Can you recommend any medication that my body can tolerate to reduce my blood sugar?
Thank you for the information, I feel I understand what is going on with my fluctuations in vision clarity. I do have cataracts and am having surgery next week. Will my blood sugars still have an effect on my vision in the same way. My hba1c has been consistently around 6.1 over the past 12 months. Best regards. Mike.

I am 24 years old and I am barely starting to experience diabetes. The thing that bugs me a lot is that my 2 eyes sometimes can't align to see clearly my phone and/or my computer, the episode lasts about between 15 to 35 mins. I have to close one eye to see better

i use a 1.5 readers glasses and I see just as well as I did in my teens and 40s; I do not ahve diabetese. Every time I hear about it Ithink normal ageing will blind me. A aquire an astigmatism for example; I look at a red LED when its on and is see about 12 Red leds; so I put on a pair of 1.25 readers and it goes away such that I see a single LED as being 'on'.. I think I am okay. Im 67 years old. It would be nice if a knowledgable person would say "yes; thats is what is happening".
Hey doctor quick question I'm border line diabetes and when I drink soda sugar ice tea when I sleep that's when I get eye strokes that suagr pops my blood vessel and it hurts so bad then it's blurry can't see stay in bed for 4 5 days till it heals so I have thyroid also but most likely it's when blood sugar is to high it hits my eyes like a knife any tips would help thank you and happy new year
Sorry to hear that, but I wish your husband well. Hopefully the cataract surgery goes well, and statistically it will, and then he will have great vision afterwards.
I have this happening to me right now how can i treat it..am at the hospital for yesterday and they still running test on me..the also want to do a spinal test which they will draw fluid from my back they say
If lenses vary during diabetes...The main question is, should you wear "wrong" prescription glasses or cure that prediabetes and diabetes first ???!!! The cause of blurry vision due to diabetes is fatty liver which deposits proteins and junk into lense and macula...So clean your liver, reverse diabetes and then pancreas can work properly and your blurry vision will resume !! How ?! Stop binging junk and sugary foods and start excercise !
I’m prediabetic, got my weight down to 65kg from 94kg but my blurry vision keeps getting worse. My blood pressure kept rising too. The doc told me that my blood sugar level was 44 but it’s 43 now.
Start fasting , only eat one meal a day preferably evening. And once or twice a week go 24hrs without eating. As for the foods to eat avoid all grains, sugars, seed oils, processed foods and focus eating a diet rich in protein and fats like: Eggs, Red meat, Cheese, Full fat yoghurt etc so essentially a carnivore diet. This will reverse it
Eat better. Also, try Thera tears eye drops. You'd be amazed at how dry your eyes are. Not only that I heard an ophthalmologist say preservative eye drops are bad. My vision cleared after Thera tears (temporarily but it helps)
What causes my eyesight to go all white? Not blurry. But like someone is shining a light in my eye. I was leaving the grocery store walking to my car and this happened.😮
Question regarding quitting sugar and caffeine and vision issues.. I have recently been quitting caffeine (hot chocolate and sodas, never drank coffee), and have largely quit sugar (liquid), and most other sweets. I find that all of a sudden, it's hard to read text on my smart phone, blurry or something. Like, my body is trying to adjust to much lower levels of sugar (and caffeine) . I know high sugar can cause diabetes and vision issues, but can coming off of sugar and or caffeine affect vision?
Diet, lower blood sugar, can have an effect on vision. Do you mind if I ask you how old you are? Near vision changes could be related to the natural changes to the crystalline lens as well.
Would 1 and 2 apply to those with implant lenses? What about those that are aphakic? Would #3 be 1 and if so, what would 2 and 3 be? Without lenses 1 and 2 do not apply.
You're right.. aphakic or IOLs won't have the lens issues. Other cases of blur from diabetes would be from new vessel growth, retinal detachments, and problems with the cornea.
Greetings. I have a way overipe right eye cataract. Should have been removed but delayed due to Covid. I have now developed TED thyroide eye disease. Right eye is really buldging. Blurred vision. Can I have the cataract removed while in the active stage of TED? Thank you for you vids. Cheers from S. CA
It was a wonderful talk explaining how the eye gets damaged. Does the Schlemm Canal also get clogged (damaged) because of excessive sugar? Thank you, Dr. Neal. Something 100% counterintuitive to the comments here-read "Mastering Diabetes."
Hey doctor I have been diagnosed with RP disease but so far my vision is good just have night blindness and sensitive to light I notice when I eat sugar stuff my vision gets worst right. Now I’m trying to change my diet and get better I got headaches as well and tinnitus what could that be ? I wonder if I have been misdiagnosed
What should be the normal fasting blood sugar levels ( in order to avoid blurry vision ) for a 70-year-old male with type 2 diabetes? Thanking you in advance doc!
I think I’ve had a macular problem from my blood sugar and my A1c being 11 for about a year now I’ve been losing vision in my right eye. I’m actually scared to go because of the eye speculum and the eye injection. I’ve been putting it off and putting it off.

Unfortunately this can range all over. Even with insurance it depends on what insurance and if you get it through work or not. A cash pay eye exam can be anywhere between $50-$300... or even more.
My mom recently is having serious issues with her vision and scared she could go blind, she doesn't have diabetes but her sugar level is always high. What can we do sir
My numbers have been in the 3 and 400 hundreds for several months. I ma now working on bringing them down. Spoke to my dietitian and we went over my numbers and I am 100 percent in range of where I’m suppose to be. That happened over about a week or so with me exercising and cutting back on bread, pasta, potatoes and alit of other things that I like to eat. Even though my sugars are great my eye sight has become extremely blurry over the past 3 to 4 days. Blurry to the point my prescription glasses don’t work. I have readers that I bought and hardly ever use but they work. When are my eyes going adjust to the new numbers. I can’t even look at my phone without the readers something I didn’t need a few days ago. I’m worried! Will my eyes adjust? Do I need to go see the doctor or give it some time? Sorry for the long message.
After taking the Planet Ayurveda Karela capsules for a few weeks, I’ve noticed a decrease in my insulin resistance. My fasting blood sugar levels have improved, and I feel more energized.

My husband is diabetic, and will need cataract surgery soon. His vision is really bad.
Very helpful 🙂
If lenses vary during diabetes...The main question is, should you wear "wrong" prescription glasses or cure that prediabetes and diabetes first ???!!! The cause of blurry vision due to diabetes is fatty liver which deposits proteins and junk into lense and macula...So clean your liver, reverse diabetes and then pancreas can work properly and your blurry vision will resume !! How ?! Stop binging junk and sugary foods and start excercise !
I need to talk to in person??
Question: what if you have lens inplants?
Im diabetic Type 2 and I took my reading glasses off and my vision was blurry just for a sec.
I Have blurry vision and floaters can i reversed it????Doc
CA
Yes, usually it should be just fine. Ultimately your doctor will make the call. I wish you luck and I'm exciting for you to get some clear vision!
Nice video brother 😘👍🙏🇮🇳
I am having this problem recently in my right eye.
Which is also full of floters
How cam it be fixed?
High blood sugar can cause eye floaters in non diabetics? Thoughts.
Do you see two of every word you read im also having the same issues just with double vision when reading or looking at street signs
@@mftsh00tthis52 no I don’t have double vision just blurry
What food helps glycine diabetes and blood sugar and eye pressure?
Excellent
Why does dry eye ointment make my eye red when I put it in my eye at bedtime and wake up in the morning?
Do you know if it has a preservative in it? It could be that.
@@DrEyeGuy it's preservative free. not sure why it is causing redness when it helps my eyes not feel dry
What should be the normal fasting blood sugar levels ( in order to avoid blurry vision ) for a 70-year-old male with type 2 diabetes? Thanking you in advance doc!
70 to 99
Skip breakfast
I think I’ve had a macular problem from my blood sugar and my A1c being 11 for about a year now I’ve been losing vision in my right eye. I’m actually scared to go because of the eye speculum and the eye injection. I’ve been putting it off and putting it off.
Don't put it off... the sooner you can address it, the better.
@@DrEyeGuy I’m going to I’m fairly young 55 I’m scared to death of the eye speculum have you ever had one in your eye?
@@sameoldsonganddance yes I have... it's more weird to see it on someone else than to have it done to you.
@@DrEyeGuy So I’ll survive then? Had 3 babies without meds but I’m scared to death of an eye exam- procedure! I’m calling to get an appointment as of tomorrow! Thanks I’ll let you know the diagnosis and treatments, I appreciate you Doc!
@@sameoldsonganddance you will do great, especially with a history like that. 🙂
i have blurry vision and i can never concentrate and i always feel sleepy no matter how much i sleep, it’s been ruining my life for the past year and im only 25
Have you been to your eye doctor?
I have a experienced blurry visions but my blood sugar is normal
Has it resolved since this comment was typed
My mother has diabetes and since she got diabetic ,she has never eaten any kind of sweet things except some fruits...can you please tell me why she had blurry vision ... although she doesn't take any kind of medicine for diabetes ...she just avoid everything sweet and even rice ....she eats wheat flour
Can you please explain it?
I wouldn't be able to tell you why she had blurry vision. Blurry vision can occur from multiple different reasons. Has she had an eye exam?
Q: How much should eye insurance cost in the US? How much is an eye exam with or without insurance?
Unfortunately this can range all over. Even with insurance it depends on what insurance and if you get it through work or not. A cash pay eye exam can be anywhere between $50-$300... or even more.
Carnivore diet helps alot for me
How long does it take your eye lens to adjust back?
My mom recently is having serious issues with her vision and scared she could go blind, she doesn't have diabetes but her sugar level is always high. What can we do sir
How is she
She does HAVE diabetes if her sugar is always high.
Go to the doctor for help. Your body always takes time to adjust.
I actually found out i had diabetes cause my eyesight got bad and i have 20/20 vision so i was like wadaheck
I was playing volleyball and my eyes got blurry later on I threw up then I went back to normal
After taking the Planet Ayurveda Karela capsules for a few weeks, I’ve noticed a decrease in my insulin resistance. My fasting blood sugar levels have improved, and I feel more energized.

Was this your way of telling me to go on a diet?
Haha.. subtle messages in this video.
😢 Blurry vision..THAT'S ME...
I wonder if there are people who's eyesight was improved by going carnivore with the blood sugar and other metrics.
Can low blood sugar cause double vision?
