During the pandemic and lock down, I started having flashes all the time in one eye.. I knew I was at the age for vitreous detachment and figured that is what I was experiencing, although I knew it could lead to retinal detachment. I went like this for months because I could not get seen by a retina doctor. My regular ophthalmologist saw me but didn't see the tear. But I still needed to see an retina specialist. but no one was taking new patients. Finally about 3 months later I was able to be seen, he found a very peripheral tear that was so old it was healing on its own. Nevertheless, I had the laser surgery and the flashes slowly went away. I am fortunate it was not worse because my other eye is blind. Just knowing other symptoms to watch out for is very helpful to me.

Dr. Chua, thank you 🙏🏻 for this important information!
I learned so much. In November 2022, I had intense flashing in my left eye. I went into see my optometrist that same day for an emergency appointment. A freckle and inflammation (fluid build up) were spotted near my optic nerve by my optometrist, so I was sent to a retina specialist for further evaluation…. Then I was sent to an ocular oncologist for yet further evaluation of the issue! Long story short, I have an atypical nevus in my left eye that is currently stable, but I still continue to be monitored by the ocular oncologist to keep an eye on the situation in case further changes occur. So, please, peeps get your eyes 👀 checked asap if something goes awry.
Please keep up the great videos, Dr. Chua!

I know these floaters, but what I have today is like a point in the middle of my vision on my right eye that looks like those when you see light for a long time but i wasn’t looking at any point of light
. And when i focus on something to see it distorts a little bit what im seeing compared to my left eye… can someone help me know what this is? I t could be giant cell arteritis because yesterday i felt like a burning sensation on my right temple veins when touching it with my fingers but it went away after a few minutes… HELP!

Hi doc ! I need some suggestions.
I see double vision even with my prescription glasses. It stops if I close one of any eyes. I feel like my right eye gets more active than right eye. What should I do? I have seen many doctor here but it hasn't got better.

what if on the first one, instead of darkening, it’s whitening, where everything gets so bright it feels like there’s a white sheet over my right eye

if one has had experienced small black dots randomly , (as like ive had them through most of my life and could be every year or more when one just happens), is that something one should get checked out to? As such i know i have a stigmatism in my eyes and shot sighted and ive heard getting the dots can just randomly happen in general which i was told by an optician years ago, but hearing what you said about floaters concerned me a bit.
