    In the second game I've played (just got the game) The planet Garnir (pirate world in core systems) was decivilized after I raided it repeatedly with marines and lowered its stability to zero. It did have ruins to explore, but there wasn't a ton there. I'm guessing because it got raided into oblivion beforehand.

    • @jdcollie258
      @jdcollie258  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Probably. You can loot items from colonies when you raid them. (Like taking a nanoforge from a planet's heavy industry, for example) so it's possible everything of value was already gone.

    About the transponder thing: It depends? Some systems with factions that have planets/stations set to "Free Ports" seem to indeed ignore transponders. However, their "stable" systems usually don't have "Free Port" on any planets and thus will require you to have the transponder on. So it really depends on which system we're talking about. Like for example Mayasura - neither the Tri-Tac nor the League will bother with you if you don't have your transponder on.
    Sorry if this was already mentioned.

    Thanks to you, ive been playing this game a lot - lovin it. Something i noticed in my playthrough is that the Omen is completely OP. With unstable injector, safety overrides, and hardened subsystems for maximum OP. It only costs 14K, i have 13 of them built just like that. Nothing has been able to stop me, short of stations. Every now and then i loose one ship, but it's easy to replace. Also i used converted hangar on all my mules... which makes them insane. Compared to my odyssey which costs 45 pts to deploy with 2 wings, i can deploy a mule with 1 wing for 7 pts! This gives me serious fighter power, using the medium universal on the mule for missiles and the rest gets ballistic pd. Ive played for 2 days and made over 3M smuggling with TT. I also kicked the hegemony out of Vallhalla. Thanks for introducing me to this game, try a few omens in your next fleet, it's definitely the beast of the frigates!

    • @jdcollie258
      @jdcollie258  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    After seeing the comment about core world ruins I restarted (bought the game after watching Sseths videos, instantly bought and started watching yours!)....I was struggling for money in the first run through, deliveries etc rarely netting more than 5k profit after replenishing fuel and supplies. On my first 4 ruins I found 3 alpha cores, 2 beta cores, and 2 gamma cores, 2 corrupted nanoforges, plus about 3 ship blueprint packs (the ones that have a load of ships/weapons etc) and a load of module blueprints. I had quite a bit of money after selling all that (I kept the blueprints to learn) and built a nice little fleet with a bit more security, a freighter, salvage rig, etc. I kind of wish I'd kept an alpha core or 2 but needs must as it was costly exploring all those locations.

    Now that you've made me learn that Pirates will use blueprints you sell to them. Do blueprints affect the pirates faction in its entirety or specific fleets or by sectors? Because that gave me the idea of fighting other factions in a indirect way by using Pirates against them. But that depends to what extent I could concentrate the pirates efforts on certain sectors/factions.

    • @Lesolan

    About Gas Giant surveying, I've had a profitable Gas Giant survey at 150 supplies. The Gas Giant had the largest ruins possible and exploring those provided me with two alpha cores which gave a good profit once sold to Tri-Tachyon.
    So before deciding not to survey Gas Giants, at least see if they have satellites orbiting them, since ruins can very well be worth the extra supplies.

    • @jdcollie258
      @jdcollie258  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course, which is why I generally glance at them before moving on. Still, having a gas giant be profitable to survey is *incredibly* rare, to the point where the average player simply isn't going to lose out much by ignoring them.

    I can confirm that overlapping fleets are strong. I managed to.... Somehow.... Take over the Askonia system, colonizing 5 of the planets there. The resulting defense force repels everything that looks at me funny.

    Do you know what the -Weapon recoil skill does? I believe it's the left-most technology skill. I haven't really noticed that my weapons slow down my speed or anything, and I've seen no mention of weapon recoil otherwise.
    On another note, will you be doing colonization in this series? I've started to consider it lately since I'm hitting the 1-1.5 milion credits number, only to get it constantly lowered by my ever increasing upkeep costs. Aparently colonies help with income, but I'm fairly clueless on the matter.
    I hope the baby is doing well. My sister's baby boy also had a prolonged time in hospital due to him being much tinier than usual upon his birth, but he's doing great now, at over a year old. I hope your son will as well!

    • @jdcollie258
      @jdcollie258  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Recoil is the dispersion effect you see when firing weapon over a long period of time. The "V" of the weapon arc will get wider the longer you fire, to a point anyway. It's not on all weapons, but a lot of ballistic weapons have it.
      Colonization is definitely on it's way. I just need to find a system worth colonizing, have a fleet capable of defending the territory once I get started. Both are probably a little bit off (though that system I found in this episode is certainly promising)
      Thanks for the well wishes! My son is doing pretty well, all things considered, gaining weight and such very well. It's mostly just that new baby crunch going on right now.

    I don't really know what I'm doing in my game, just smuggling illegal things, selling space marines to terrorists and constantly figuring out of how I can make more money, I have like 2M of credits, blueprints valued in more than 3M that I don't wanna sell, and almost every faction is suspecting about me 😂
    I just want my own colony, but I'm too scared about launching myself to the monetary end game 😅

      get like 6 collossus with +2 burn and shielded engines for 50% less sensor profile (with better go dark ability my SP is like 200 or something) and smuggle until you have 10-20 million credits at least, doing a lot of exploration so you don't get too bored. Finding a proper starsystem to colonize (low hr, farmland/organic- ore/rare ore- voletiles with at least one stable location, all in close proximity to each other) is a rare find in the galaxy. And you need like 20-25 mil credits if you want max defense as soon as possible with cash to spare for hegemony penis inspection or whatever. Also as many Alpha cores as you can find (with at least few pristine nanoforges and fuel ones too). All that should make you ready for a proper first colony starsystem. Also smuggle with id off (with proper fleet many terrorists/pirates will just run away from you anyway so the only hard part is buying stuff) mate.

  • @jenswaring1682

    The survey data mechanic is very unintuitive, when I was playing I didn't want to sell any of my high-class survey results because the tooltip suggests that it would mean the good planets you've found wouldn't be private anymore (i.e. they'd be developed by whoever you sold the data to). In the end it turns out that's not true at all.

    • @jenswaring1682
      @jenswaring1682 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's also impossible to find planets which you've surveyed previously by looking at the survey data in your cargo. Instead you have to remember, note it down, or scour the map.

    Corona isn't nearly as damaging as you think it is. It's not like you should park your ship inside of it and take a nap, but the majority of the cr degredation you entered that fight with was caused by activating emergency burn. Dipping into corona to salvage something is perfectly safe.

    • @jdcollie258
      @jdcollie258  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, though by the time I was able to exit the corona after the fight, the CR degradation from the corona was roughly equal to that caused by the emergency burn.

    I have a question. I've established a compact little colony web with 350k custom production budget in Penelope's Star(and I must say it's quite pleasant there) and I think I'm ready to dip my toes into some capitals. I've got Paragon and Onslaught blueprints and I've been wondering if you could suggest some capitals that are good for me. I have a mostly midline fleet and I don't know shit about capitals.

    • @alisahalisah4716
      @alisahalisah4716 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      4 paragons should be more than enough for the end game battles, but they're costly to use and pretty slow, you will have quite a problem with catching up with faster enemy fleets. For skirmishes I actually recommend using fast cruisers and destroyers.

    • @jdcollie258
      @jdcollie258  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For your defense fleets, paragons are the ultimate answer. They steamroll the autoresolve formula. For your own fleet, the paragon is still a fantastic option due to it's incredible survivability and massive fire projection power. The Onslaught is similarly powerful in the right hands, but is a lot less forgiving of pilot error. The plus side is you can field three onslaughts for the cost of two paragons.

    the salvaging skill does affect planets the salvaging ships do not.
    do not sell fuel cores and Nano forges on the black market Pirates use them do not sell them to a faction you don't want to make stronger it's best to keep them in someplace safe for yourself and hoard them.
    your strategy is flawed on finding ruins on planets I found ruins on planets that do not have any floating debris around them.

    • @jdcollie258
      @jdcollie258  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you could provide some evidence that the salvaging skill affects planets, I would be interested to see it. Neither the wiki nor the ingame tooltip say anything about it affecting planetary salvage. However, the way the ruins are coded though certainly make it a possibility. I'm just going with what the tooltips say due to lack of definite conflicting evidence.
      I'm aware of this of the nanoforge/core mechanic, but I didn't really address it in the episode, I'll bring it up next time.
      If you could provide evidence of planets without debris having ruins, that would be great to see. A sector seed with the system and planet in question would be enough for me to check out.

      fuel cores and nanoforges are safe to sell on the black market. They'll only ever be used if sold on the open market and if the market in question has an industry to put them on. There isnt really a reason to hoard synchotrons or corrupted forges either, you get enough pristine forges where you dont really need corrupted forges (not really enough pristine ones to just casually sell them though) and you get way more synchotrons than you'll ever be able to use.
